  • Malcolm Marshall was perhaps the finest of West Indies' many formidable fast bowlers of the 1980s, endowed with fierce pace, swing, cut, a vicious bouncer, and above all, the ability to outthink any batsman.
"Swing and cut, speed and bounce, and smarts above all - Maco had everything except height, and even that lack he turned into an asset" - Mike Selvey

Maco - that spell on the dead wicket at Kanpur - reducing India to 7 for 4. Still gives me the chills

That was not dead wicket as far as I remember it was only spicy surface of that Winter but we turned them into expressways largely due to Macko's brutual Kanpur spell

I got to see Marshall play in one Test but had the chance to watch him up close in the nets at Lords one morning and it was an amazing experience. He was using a short run-up and his arm speed was phenomenal. How any batsman managed to play him with the way he moved the ball at breath-taking pace I will never know but then it was Greenidge, Haynes and Richards at the other end. What a morning.

As a kid, I loved watching Malcolm Marshall bowl. It was a treat and exciting. I didn't know too many cricketers as a young boy but I definitely knew MM and thought he was incredible.

That 10 for on Adelaide was one of the most genius bowling spells on a flat deck ever.

@mkandlikar So many great spells in his short life, friend. Difficult to say which one was the best. The one at Headingley where he bowled with a plastered hand, Kanpur or Kolkata 1983 or perhaps his 5-fer on the dead Sydney track in 1988.
The man achieved so much in his short life that he managed to immortalise his name forever. Glad to see that many people have nejoyed Malcolm Marshall's video. To me, he is the greatest fast bowler ever to have played the game. Cheers, mate!
