    1) 5000+ test runs
    2) unbelievable S/R of 95 in those days
    3) 431 test wickets
    4) Only 1 no ball in his entire career
    5) Was never run out in his career
    6) Missed only 1 test in his entire career.
    7) WC winning captain
    8) Gun fielder
There can't be a greater natural athlete than this man.

All the folks who were part of the winning 1983 world cup winning Indian team were still recognised and honoured with related position by BCCI except Kapil Dev who is a legend. great performance - the other Indian bowlers have combined figures of 2 wickets for almost 300 runs! (no support?) Its like a spinner from Australia or England coming to India and getting 8 for 108 - the wicket seems bouncy, not as much assistance to swing

  • @rajarshiiitb

First Bowlers or First-Medium Bowlers usually work in pairs. Kapil Dev never had that support. Learned to bowl fast on Indian pitches, but never had great support from the slip coordinates (many missed catches), which bowlers from other countries had at that time. He bowled long spells, fielded the whole day in the outfield, sometimes close in, and whenever needed, scored runs (Saving a follow-on? Call Kapil Dev !!). A warrior with the ball, a warrior with the bat. An athlete who happened to play cricket.

I keep watching this over and over again and just keep waiting at the same time to see some one like him to take the place of genuine all rounder ..mind you the word is genuine and not bits and pieces ..How many of today's bowler can bowl an out swinger like him ..forget fast bowlers not even leg spinners of present era cant beat a batsman on off stump like Kapil did it and nor any bowler know how to bowl yorkers in death overs.. and then of course bat as if life depended on it and when team required the most ( be it 175 to snatch victory from Zim or 4 sixes in a row to avoid follow on with Eng). For Kapil India mattered most .. Its an under statement to say that every cricketer post 83 owe their bread to this man.. imagine if India hadn't won world cup in 83 , then cricket would never become another religion nor every new IPL player would have got a brand new car for highest ipl bid he got. Here is true Bharat Ratna..not those gimmickier Bombay players..
