Imagine bowling all day long (in a test match) with such a runup ,when you know most of the bowls would either be defended or left and still giving 100% , clicking almost 90 miles+ per hour on every delivery.. Man, that requires some serious patience and dedication! Take a bow Legend!

Before you think his pace was due to hyperextension of his joints, think again.
His level of fitness was already on a different scale. You can visually see the difference in his physique compared to all others, which is down to his years of excruciating training.
His extraordinary run up, delivery after delivery, over after over, mostly in hot temperatures, the relentless training to build up endurance and strength to generate some serious pace consistently behind that ball! 🤯
The hyperextension was just the cherry on top to give that extra firepower right at the time of release, where he was already steaming in like a jet from his run up!

Remember those days watching this on TV as a kid and hating on the Indian Batsmen for being overly defensive, terrorized and on back foot most of the time against Shoaib Akhtar. Few years later I realized, that the Indian Batsmen actually did fairly well playing such aggressive, insane, fast and consistent spells of fast bowling. And then of course there were Wasim, Waqar and Saqlain breathing fire too. Great battle of bat and ball.

Syed Farhan thanks a lot for your suggestion. Shoaib played merely 46 test matches in his 14 years long career. He was unfit and was surrounded by controversies all the times. So yes on his day he was able to thrash world's best batting line up away. However, most of the times he was either unavailable or used to throw away freebies at the batsmen. So I was referring to his overall effectiveness to the team.

Shoaib partnered Steve Harmison for Durham. A fairly intimidating partnership......

Rarely do we see now, even 5 to 6 balls hitting the pads in the entire spell of ten overs.. indubitably 1980s and 1990s , were the era's of supreme fast bowling...pace , accuracy ,swing everything was there..

Those were the times when batsman has to earn the place after facing furiously fast bowlers. That was cricket. Now one team score 350 another finish it in 45 ovrs.

+Haris Ahmed So did the "freedom fighters" attack the Sri Lankan cricketers' bus in 2009 after which no team wants to set foot in Pakistan ? or was it Modi and the RSS ? Also Iam guessing that your "freedom fighters" slaughtered school children in Peshawar .. wait a minute ..let me see .. ofc that was Modi and the RSS as well ! I think you are in a coma ...
