I think you forgot to mention that if you start fighter you also get proficiency on constitution saving throws unlike all spellcasters except sorcerer, which helps with the all important concentration checks.

I've played a Battle Master Fighter/ Shadow Sorcerer build and it's honestly really fun. I focused on spells that boosted my abilities and evasiveness (Mirror Image, Blur, Haste, Shield, Absorb Elements), as well as Counterspell to shut down enemy casters. And it was even more fun whenever I got to use the Shadow Sorcerer's special Darkness. I've done situations where I got enemies to attack each other by adding in Sleight of Hand with my attack rolls to make attacks come in from where other enemies are.

Hey brother, doing great! Just wanted to note that this is the second video where you've spoken on the war caster feat saying that you can only cast a cantrip with instead of a melee attack on opportunity attacks. As long as the spell only targets one creature, you can also use leveled spells with war caster. Inflict wounds as someone is leaving your area has been a favorite on my cleric build. Although, fitting with a fighter mage, the booming blade cantrip is a solid choice for them since they have a limited leveled spell resource with multiclassing.

Between an eldricht knight 8 or fighter 5/wizard 3 there are 2 ability scores improvement that are missing in the second choice, so a total of +4 in ability scores or 2 feats that you can add to your build so I think that the gap is really not this close, considering the fact too that with 3 more levels as eldricht knight you gain the second extra attack feature and going with straight fighter you have more hps.
Anyway are both interesting options to consider.

Hexblade/swordbard lets you feel like an amazing gish character and lets you focus on charisma.
Two magic longsword attacks per turn alongside a defensive flourish for increased AC and damage output as needed, all while concentrating on Spirit Guardians...

Cleric may not technically be a "Mage" in the strictest sense, but it's an extremely compelling multiclass option for any melee combatant. 5 levels gives you access to Spirit Guardians, one of the best damage/control spells in the game; as well as Spirit Shroud, which is more situational but still comparable in power to Shadow Blade (with the added benefit that you can use it with a magic weapon). Cleric also gives some nice utility and support options for out-of-combat purposes to really round out the character: Detect Magic, Aid, Locate Object, and of course the various healing and resurrection spells, to name a few.
this isn't even considering the various domain abilities and spells: War for bonus action attacks and a +10 to hit in a pinch comes to mind; as does Arcana for Wizard cantrips, or Twilight for... well, all the crazy stuff that Twilight Clerics get.

You repeat yourself on the Psionic spell list being good. Also good combo is booming blade and then quickened dissonant whispers. This triggers the extra damage from booming blade and with warcaster can hit them with it again. For this build.

Just a few ideas. 3th lvl artificer either Armorer or Battle Smith 17 lvl Bladesinger. You get 9th lvl spells and either through your gauntlets or just in general you can use intelligence as your melee stat to be less mad. I would also suggest a 14th lvl Swords Bard 6th lvl Shadow Monk. Possibly going a little higher in Monk for evasion if you don't forsee getting the lvl 14 bard feature. Monk adds martial utility to the bard and additional "spells" with the addition of an in darkness teleport.

    • @ReaverKain
      @ReaverKain Год назад +3

Nice concept but not all games go to level 20. 5th to 9th levels are the goal to build for.

In my opinion sorcerer/ paladin is better than fighter/sorcerer; so I would feel weird picking the squid build here. I think 12 lvl of eldritch knight and 8 levels of abjuration wizard is the best combination. If you have a nice dm who will give you a spell scroll of tensers transformation you can copy it into your spell book. You could cast tensers and get advantage on all attacks, 2d12 force dmg on all attacks, 50 temporary hit points, and proficiency in str and con saves. I know you wouldn’t be able to cast spells while doing this , but 4 attacks (if duel wielding weapons) with all the above stuff is crazy: plus if you really want to cast spells you can cast haste instead of tensers and get similar results while still being able to cast spells. Note if you don’t want to worry about your dm giving you a scroll; a 14th level wizard abjuration and 6th eldritch knight can have similar results with the simulacrum spell acting as a haste buddy.

    Dexterity based elven Eldritch knight.
Cantrips dedicated to utility since melee and ranged attacks are better utilized with the fighters extra attack features.
Focus on reaction and bonus action spells to preserve the fighters precious action.
At level 7+ the Eldritch knight can trade out their “free” spell that’s unrestricted by school to pick up shadow blade.
Choose elven accuracy as a feat to round up your dexterity.
This fighters shadowblade use scales up in efficacy with the progression of slots and additional extra attacks. The DPR of this build rivals greatweapon/sharpshooter builds without sacrificing accuracy. This is also done with less feat investment. This damage is done while utilizing a shield too.
Feel free to pick up ritual casting or other spell based feats to further expand on what the fighter is capable of since damage isn’t an issue.
Pick up warcaster if your DM cares about casting rules regarding components.

Starting with 3 levels of armourer gives your evocation wizard shithot AC, mediocre melee damage and allows your intelligence to do everything. Just basically Mounting my glass Canon to a tank.

I think I want to do an eldritch knight peace cleric combo
    custom lineage - polearm master
    1 fighter
1 peace cleric - double bless baby
    2-3 eldritch knight shield baby
    4 war caster
    5 multiattack
6 fey touched to give extra bless and mobility
    2-5 cleric for spirit guardians
So, super bless from character level 2. war caster for con saves and booming blade reaction attacks, and now I can use a shield and the shield spell

      The Hill Dwarf race,
I'd go 2 levels in Fighter and 18 levels in Abjuration Wizard. Eventually pick up the Tough feat.
      Any thoughts?
I haven't tried the blade singer or war wizard yet.

    What Subclass Should I Pick?
    Arcane Archer or Echo Knight

  • @lt.branwulfram4794

Chances are 14 Eldritch Knight and 6 Bladesinger do mesh together. Action economy looks like this for a single turn nova:
Attack 1, Attack 2 (Booming Blade from Bladesinger’s Extra Attack), Attack 3, Bonus action Attack 4 (War Magic, then Action Surge for 3 more attacks, trading the 2nd in for Booming Blade.
Also, Bladesong allows us to save spell slots from casting Shield. I find that ASIs are not an issue if we consider race/class combos. All we need are bonuses in Dex and Int, so Variant Human, High Elf and Forest Gnome could potentially be contenders. With Tasha’s Custom Origins, Mountain Dwarf could be interesting.

There is debate if war magic and the blade singer's extra attack allowing a cantrip actually work together to give a bonus action attack. So discuss with your DM first.

I would argue that the Bladesinger lvl 14 ability is better than the Eldrich knight's 7th.
