    Currently playing an Evocation Wizard 2 / Light Cleric 13. So much fun being able to Sculpt Spell things like Fireball and Firestorm (which wizards can't usually learn)!

      According to the rules, you can only prepare spells for which you have spell slots, where they would actually mean the class. So a 2nd level wizard would only be able to prepare 1st level wizard spells, because that is what 2nd level wizards have access to.

      C/W add their together to determine spell slots. In the write up, it says you can prepare spells for any spell level you have a spell slot.
      C2/W1 you are 3rd lvl for spell slots. Have 4 1st lvl and 2 2nd lvl spell slots. You can prepare 2nd lvl spells for both classes
      This is from the class' Spellcasting description
      You prepare the list of wizard spells that are available for you to cast. To do so, choose a number of wizard spells from your spellbook equal to your Intelligence modifier + your wizard level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
      This is ruling multi classing spell slots
      Spell Slots.
      You determine your available spell slots by adding together all your levels in the bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, and wizard classes, and half your levels (rounded down) in the paladin and ranger classes. Use this total to determine your spell slots by consulting the Multiclass Spellcaster table.

    You actually need neither arcane focus nor holy symbol as long as you have a spell components pouch. Oh, and if you want to not lose ten feet of movement wearing heavy armor, play a dwarf. An dwarf ... though I believe the extra HP hill dwarfs get makes them a bit more attractive.

    You should just use component pouch if you multi-class these two spell casters. You don't need two different arcane focuses and just one component pouch.

    • @Elevin101
      @Elevin101 Год назад +1

      You would have to buy all the materials that way! If usind an arcane focus you only need those with a price behind it, or if the spells says "which the spell consumes".
      With that component pouch you ALLWAYS need to buy the materials at least once.

    • @scroggsie1
      @scroggsie1 Год назад +5

      A component pouch is a small, watertight leather belt pouch that has compartments to hold all the material Components and other Special items you need to cast your Spells, except for those Components that have a specific cost (as indicated in a spell's description).
      Raw you don't need to buy non costly components.

    One of my favorite characters is a war wizard I played that had 1 level in order domain cleric.
    The order domain feature that grants an ally a reaction attack doesn’t differentiate between spells from different lists. It also doesn’t differentiate between buffs or damage spells. An ally gets to make a reaction attack so long as they live through the fireball, not that casting it in them should be the number 1 priority.

    Hello Skullsplitter Dice, been watching your channel for a few weeks now. I have been playing the strength score for heavy armor wrong. Didn't know it cost the character 10 feet of movement if they don't have the strength score. Even in Adventure League I think they played it that you couldn't use the armor.
    Thanks for the video you have a wonderful day!

    Holy symbol on the shield for the cleric, and a hat of wizardry (common magic item) for the wizard. Both function as a spell focus item.
    No conflict. I guess WC is kind of a mandatory feat, but if you’re not actually holding some kind of weapon, staff, dagger, etc…it’s not really necessary unless you have a magic item you need to hold.
    I would take the feat at some point, but for general builds, it’s not an early on must have.
    Add in a component pouch, and you’re covered.
    Unless you’re surrounded, the rider for shocking grasp allows AoO free disengagement as it negates reactions from the target. (Assuming you hit, of course)
    Arcana cleric with almost any 2 level dip in wizard is pretty strong, and nets you a lot of great spell options. Besides the obvious ones, the rituals are the big add.
    For wizards, I love the one lvl dip into knowledge domain cleric. Armor & shield, guidance, bless, sanctuary, command, etc…and free expertise in arcana and history skills.
    Huge boost to a wizard with no loss of high end spell slots. Very underrated combo from what I’ve seen.

    The creatures would be moved 10 regardless of the success of the saving throw since the spell still deals half damage on a success.

    I made a character like this. My goal, assuming I reach 20th level, is for her to become a 2 Tempest Cleric/18 Scribes Wizard. That way you don't have to depend on Lightning Bolt and just make a lightning fireball 🙂

    • @LoreFoundry
      @LoreFoundry Год назад

      Just remember chain lightning is a 6th lv spell. So you only need lv 11 in Wizard. Personally I'd take 6 levels of Cleric so I could get two uses of channel divinity per rest for even more max lightning damage.

    • @morganpetros9635
      @morganpetros9635 Год назад +1

      It's a decent build, though you don't need 18 levels of Scribe wizard to make this work, only six. Also, I would suggest taking Thunder Step rather than Lightning Bolt, at least at first ... thunder is a much more reliable damage type.

    Im currently playing a Eladrin fate cleric / divination wizard. She is able to give an opponent disadvantage, while giving the attacker advantage (sametime) for 1 minute. At 20th level upto 6 times a day, even more with short rests to recover channel divinity. While still be able to attack or cast spells or even modify more rolls on other opponents/allies.
    With fay step from Eladrin race, can misty step around to heal.or support others quickly. Plus able to heal allies thru familiar while its providing said ally advantages with the help action.
    Character can change an d20s, provide bonus die to most rolls.
    Character has the 3 feats that further boosts her class features,
    War Caster for concentration and use spell when opponents provokes attack of opportunity.
    Combat Reflexes for an extra reaction per turn.
    Lucky 3 extra d20 rerolls per long rest

    You may perform somatic components with the hand that is occupied by a spell casting focus IF the spell requires material components AND somatic. If it requires only somatic, you need a free hand.
    Also just use a component pouch and a shield. What are you doing?

    I might be way off here, but after double checking and triple checking the rules on pages 114 and 164, wizards prepare spells using thr available spell slots AND can only know spells that are up to the same level of spell slots available. Could this mean that a 2nd level wizard / 15th level cleric that has access to a 9th level slot could theoretically copy to their spellbok a 9th level wizard spell since it has access to a 9th level slot? The rules say as follows:
    "When you find a wizard spell of 1st level or higher, you can add it to your spellbook uf it is of a spell level you can prepare and if you can spare the time to decipher and copy it."

    • @ThaliaAndrea
      @ThaliaAndrea 10 месяцев назад

      Yes and prepare it. I just recently noticed the wording on that.
      I too am playing a cleric/wizard. Only down side it the smaller amount of prepared you can have for each class.

    Keep in mind that wizards can transcribe any spell on their spell list without worrying about spell level and the only restriction to casting those spells is whether you have the appropriate spell slot. So the tax you can pay to multiclass wizard is money and time.

    • @Tony-im6jr
      @Tony-im6jr Год назад +1

      This is not correct. You are only able to transcribe spells your wizard is high enough to prepare (which is based on their Wizard level alone.)
      This is specified in PHB pages 114 and 164.
