  • Fighters are versatile powerhouses, capable of countless techniques for applying cold steel to worthy opponents. Monks are ascetic disciples of the martial arts who have surpassed the physical limits through sheer willpower and skill. When combined you apply the speed of a martial artist with the skill of a dedicated murder machine. Eat your protein powder and don’t skip leg day as we go through everything you need to know about the 5e Dungeons & Dragons fighter monk multiclass.

I never combined the two classes out of fear of not being smart enough to effectively optimize the build. Now you've given me some ideas. Especially the battle fist. Just getting ideas for that build inspired by old Kung Fu flicks where the hero doesn't just punch and kick his way to victory, but out maneuvers and positions his enemies where he wants them.

Currently playing in a spelljammer campaign where I am a plasmoid astral monk/echo knight multiclass. It’s incredibly fun to use in and out of combat; and the subclasses really feel complementary.
Unarmed fighting style is a must.
Only took one feat (so far) in Sentinel, but mobile & skill expert are excellent for monks imo. If I have a role amongst the party it would be the melee side of battlefield control. Which feels like what monks should be doing.

Concisering Action Surge makes the nova potential more potent; it could be cool to go Shadow Monk and specialize more in an anti caster build. Maybe Echo Knight could work since you can hide the echo in darkness and it gives you a teleport that works in daylight. Cool builds though, its always fun to combine fighter with other classes

I really wish that monk in 5e was a good class to choose in a long term campaign. I played 3.5 years as a elemental monk and my deep understanding of the class took my love for it away. Monk as a multiclass dip is FAR better and this video has inspired me once again.

This is the first time watching one of your videos and I really enjoyed it listening to it, but it could use some more visuals than just a single angle of a deadpan expression.

I like going fighter level 1 for the extra hp and sellable/giftable chain mail or longbow making level 1 and 2 more survivable

earned a subscribe from me. i like the battlemaster monk and mercy champion builds. i want the monk class to work because i love the concept, but sadly they are like the warlock in that their best use is just as a dip to augment another class. 2024 monk looks promising.

Maybe I'm just hanging out in the wrong places, but it's crazy to me how much people don't talk about the unarmed fighting style for the monk

Newish player, so I could be wrong but with the Champion of Harm build. Doesn't the improved Crit only work for Weapon attacks, (So not unarmed strikes)? Therefor not increasing the chance of a crit.
