I would change out the battle smith for the armorer and take the infiltrator specialist armor for extra stealth/ranged damage. Use the infusion for homunculus to get your sneak attack plus some little extra damage

I use magical tinkering on ball bearings. Make them smell like roasted meat, throw an illuminated one in a darkened room, make them use curse words, or throw the diversion in with a handful and set them up as a trap.

Building a phantom/armorer who in his early days as a rogue lost an arm botching a necromancy ritual (has a phantom/spirit arm) and took up artifice armorer to replace the limb… now he stays back takes steady aim and lightning zaps enemies.. and supports spells like guidance and light healing feels very well rounded

My artificer rogue is an infiltrater/Soul knife. I love the soul knife features, and the lightening blaster is a weapon attack. So I'm sneak attacking with lightening using sharp shooter.

Finally! I haven't met anyone who had almost the same idea as me. (Sorry, I'm late to the party on this one)
I ended up making an 15 Art/5 Ro split, with armorer and soul knife archetypes, also using primarily infiltrator armor... though I ended up doing something a little unconventional with it. I had it set up as a grappler. Weird, I know, but hear me out.
It literally says you can shoot you lightning blaster from your chest, so one hand holds a shield for shield bash (shield master feat) and the other hand is free to grapple. Armor of strength infusion + psychic knack + enlarge advantage + belt of giant strength infusion + skill expertise in athletics basically means auto success. Pair that with flying boots infusion and Cunning Action (dash) and you can basically drop anything from a pretty far ways up.
Add in how flash of genius and guidance cantrip can boost you or any party member, and the Artificer's various control spells... or how Armorer has heavy armor proficiency plus defense infusions and you can rock around with a 23 AC easy.
Roleplaying is even easier. You are all intelligence. Your mind is your greatest weapon, with or without your armor. I never see anyone talk about this, so I get a little excited. You made my day!

Really awesome idea, both thematically as well as mechanically. I don't know if I would want to play one from early levels, but for a campaign that starts somewhere higher up it sounds amazing!

My Artificer Rogues tend to be Battlesmith Arcane Tricksters with Repeating Shot for an infusion on a crossbow. They are my bounty hunters.

I made a similar build, but focused on damage. 7 Artificer X Rogue. 7 Artificer for Flash of Genius for support. I used the infusion repeated shot which allows me to use a shield with my Hand Crossbow. Then, I got Crossbow Expert & Sharpshooter. The damage is 3d6 + 48 + Sneak Attack Damage if all attacks hit.

How would you see an Armorer Arcane trikster? Heavy armor in infiltrator mode with Find familiar in place of the Steel defender

I made one of these once. for a 9th level one shot I went Expertise in Stealth/Thieves Tools, then Infiltrator and the Gloves of Lockpicking (and got the Skill Expert Feat for Sleight of Hand). Worked pretty good, though had some issues. It was fun using my intelligence to sneak attack, too.

My only issue with multiclassing Artificer with anything, presuming the character is going to be played all the way to L20, is the capstone Artificer feature. It's SO ridiculously good. That said, this build looks rock solid, and fun to play on top of that.

I am actually running a goblin, arcane trickster with artillerist thrown at 3/3 even split at level 6. I know no feat yet but it's pretty nice so far. He goes in stabby with the rapier, then bonus action flame thrower or ballista that the DM has let me reflavor into a hidden hand gun due to the tiny feature of the cannon.

Awesome video! I'm tinkering with some other builds around the Rogue Thief + Artificer combo:
    - Green Fire Blade cantrip with a melee Sneak Attack, + Fast Hands: Throw Oil + Mobile Feat
    - Booming Blade cantrip with a melee Sneak Attack + have the Defender shove it (or a Cannon Force attack)... won't trigger the Booming dmg, but will force the enemy to reposition possibly
    - Fast Hand reverse-pickpocket Gadgets and bombs in an Enemies' pocket
    - Alchemy Jug infusion (free acid, poison, oil ...), also, Bag of Holding to carry all your Thief crap. The rope of climbing could work with Second-Story Work
    - Thief + Artificer Alchemist : Alchemy Kit for Alchemist Fire and oil + Elixirs for Fast Hands (if the DM agrees ... technically they are not "magic"). + the Healer feat
    - Thief + Artificer + Forge Cleric2 = Self sufficient Gadget maker
(Forge Cleric can infuse armors or weapons for + 1, and create nonmagical items made of metal, like caltrops, ball bearings, traps ... also, could create Holy Water)
    - Thief + Artificer + Conjuration Wizard 2 = Self sufficient Magical Gadget maker (Conjurer can conjure objects you've seen as an action) + some extra Wizard spells, like shield, find familiar, and more cantrips)
    - The BattleSmith Martial Proficiency mean that your Rogue could use a Whip at 10 feet reach (that CAN sneak attack), also, a Net could be useful, since restrained = advantage. A blow gun with poison maybe?
Yeah those builds are mostly MAD, but here the cantrips are for dmg (booming blade, GreenFlameBlade) or utility, and the spells are mostly utilities and buffs, so barely no spell attack roll, or save. Progression would probably be slow, but hopefully fun and polyvalent!

Sick video. Love these multi class vids. Artificer is quickly becoming one of my favorite classes to build/play. The infusions and spell storing item make for some cool unique builds to be possible. Mu personal fav artificer multi class that I’ve played was a rock gnome battle smith artificer that took 3 lvls in cavalier fighter to get the soft taunt (also started fighter 1 to get heavy armor and the saving throws) and I took the mounted combatant, tough, and resilient dex feats and rode the steel defender as a mount. When I got the spell storing item my dm allowed me to put warding bond in it and give it to my steal defender. I know this isn’t technically allowed as warding bond is not on the base artificer spell list but it is a battlesmith artificer spell so he allowed/encouraged me to do it. Brixom Briskhand didn’t exactly dish out tons of damage but was a super tank. At lvl 16 (where the campaign ended) he had an ac of 26 with access to the shield spell, 163 hp, proficiency in str, dex, and con saves, advantage on wis, int, and cha saves, and resistance to damage. Having my steal defender lose warding bonds concentration broken due to the damage from the spell itself wasn’t a huge deal because he could just recast it the following turn with having 10 castings of it available. Essentially he was a sack of hp to make my artificer even more tanky. So far I haven’t seen anyone else attempt this kind of build and I gotta say it is super fun to play if you like playing a support/tank role

I feel like an Inquisitive Rogue/Armorer Artificer multi-class would make an awesome investigator-type character (especially if you decide to go with the Infiltrator armor more than the Guardian armor set), definitely wouldn't mind working on a build for it in a later one-shot with my group 👍

This is what I am cossidering doing with my character. But my Race is Warforged and I am going to take the Dark Gift of Second Skin (or even Symbiotic Being) from Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. You get a terminator type character with a little emagination.

I feel like artificer rouge, outside of great utility, also offer's interesting flavor. Yess spy gadget, but I could see a inventer slowly corrupted by the indistries push to pursue profits at any cost.
Yes this is a character inspired by the luigi tells luigi about shells meme.

Hmm. I wonder how thiefs object interaction bounus action would work with the artificer infusion options. Also assassin could fit the flavor and compensate for the lower sneak attack damage on round 1.

I played a Rogue/Artificer but I went ranged instead of melee with a hand crossbow with the Repeating Shot Infusion. The lack of a Reload property meant two shots every round with a +1 magic weapon that would never run out of ammo. I usually put the steel defender in front of me as a blocker between me and any charging opponents. Making magic gadgets on the fly during a job was great fun.

I go heavy on the artificer (armorer), so I will take 14 levels in it. I was just thinking dipping into rogue for expertise (for stealth) but I might go 3 level into rogue. I currently have 1 level in Fighter because I wanted the Archery fighting style to better use sharpshooter, but now I am thinking about 1-5 rogue levels, not really sure about it. Maybe 3 levels in fighter and rogue (for two additional subclasses) and 14 in artificer. Never thought about artillerist, wanted to be sneaky in armor with ranged attacks.

I am playing a Goblib Armorer Artificer at the moment (lvl3 so far) and he has a big a** rifle. (The DM gave me a 2d10 weapon). Planning on staying with a rifle (Reload infusion), I want to go for assassin rogue (for the snipe feels) but not sure when to get it. Missing on ASI and extra attack. Maybe lvl6 -3rogue - then 11 arti -9 rogue?

My uncle in law is running dnd campaigns and I'm in his eberron campaign. I wanted to make an artificer alchemist but how he plays it it would benefit a rogue. I love my character aesthetically and the assassin bonuses with poisons and disguises is kinda what I had in mind with him.
Does anybody think it's a good idea to multiclass it?

My husband is running a game where there is interplanal traveling. So we are on the sword coast but I am a Kender who started roque but is now wild magic sorcerer...I'm thinking of tacking on artificer but I'm not sure if its a wise choice. I'm chaotic, I want to boost the party and help them be stronger and safer, and I'm not really interested in my own mele abilities.

Only last for a while? Try forever and even a while after the artificer's death. While they can be swapped out after a rest, they pretty much last forever if you want.

Ive determined these videos are partly to blame for the DM shortage. Giving people the false hope that they too can play this game with some level of competency by copying the ideas of others.
