    Thanks for that video! The predicament of the artificer is, that it gets good stuff every level, which makes it hard to multiclass out of! Maybe easier to multiclass dip into, it all depends of course on how long your campaign lasts and what level you start. But, I can tell you, as much my arti wants wizard levels, I'll miss out out on good stuff all the way from lv 1 to 12, not to mention the SD's hit points...

    A fun idea for Amy kind of Artificer is to pair it with 3 levels of Wild Magic Barbarian.
    Naratively you're essentially an arcanic battery and when you "rage" that power goes out of control. I'm inclined to say this works best with Armorer using the Gaurdian model to become a hell of a tank or, as a small race, battle smith to be a mounted terror.

    One build I enjoyed making and playing was an Armorer 5 / Thief Rogue 15, using the Infiltrator armor model with a studded leather armor. The race I think works best is Elf: mark of shadow
    You gain permanent advantage on stealth checks and a bonus to movement speed, in addition to a lot of utility and the basic thief shenanigans
    For feats, I got Sharpshooter, Elven's accuracy (DEX), Fighting Initiate (Archery) and Tavern Brawler (CON)
    The DPR is also very good because of lightning launcher and extra attack

    I am enjoying my wizard/Artificer multiclass(Level 6 wizard/Level 3 artificer) so far as it is a nuanced approach with how the classes work, especially with the start as artificer with the con saving throws. Originally was going to go Battlesmith due to being a bladesinger but went Alchemist to help with some utility, spicing things up character wise and having access to the Healing Word spell as subclass spell in case my party's cleric/fighter goes down. Outside of bladesong, I don't have many spells to use as Bonus action and Healing word is good to have.

    I would start as Artificer to get the prof. in CON. Going to at least 3rd lvl. will get you a choice of 4 subclasses (my fav is Alchemist! Yeah, I said it!) and even though you're a half-caster you round up instead of down so as a 3rd lvl. caster you count as a 2nd lvl. caster... then multiclass into a wizard of choice and take it to 6th level to get the first two subclass features and a number of spellslots. (You'll be the equivalent of an 8th lvl. caster at your overall lvl. of 9th.) Then go back into Artificer for 4 more lvls. to get Flash of Genius, now your overall lvl. is 16, and since you don't have enough lvls. left to get the 14th lvl. wizard feature you might as well continue the last four lvls. in Artificer for a multiclass split of 11th lvl. Artificer/9th lvl. Wizard. 11 lvls. in Artificer gains you the 10th lvl. Magic Adept feature, attune to 4 magic items and craft common and uncommon magic items and the 11th lvl. feature Spell-Storing Item, store a spell and use it a number of times = 2xINT bonus.
    PS: You end up with a mix of 5 really good features compared to the wizards 4 and the artificers 4.

    personally i like artificer as a level 1-2 dip (just to pick up a couple of infusions or just cantrips and armor/con save prof) or as a main class that doesn't multiclass out until level 12. artificers remind me of bards in this regard having a very powerful high level ability you want to beeline for in spell storing item. I'll share some multiclassing solutions/synergies for each subclass:
    1. alchemist- it's biggest flaw is that elixirs cost an action to use which isn't valuable enough to warrant your action in combat. and if you aren't using elixirs and just casting spells or attacking why play an alchemist? the solution is providing them strong bonus action economy so it doesn't feel like you wasted your turn drinking elixirs. the solution of course is sorcerer. with quickened spell, you can still cast levelled spells while using elixirs. a level 2 (with metamagic adept) - 5 dip should be enough to get a solid amount of sorc points. Squeezing fighter 2 for action surge can help this along further.
    2. armorer- this leans towards a tanking role but they don't have alot of flaws. one multiclass combo i'd broach to the DM is druid. the magical armor fits itself around you. how would the DM rule being wildshaped let's say to a bear or a giant constrictor snake with your magical armor still around you? if they rule this favorably (and i believe it works RAW), there's alot of fun stuff you can do with an armored wild shaped combatant.
    3. artillerist- like the armorer, this doesn't have alot of flaws and can lean toward a support or a striker role. the replenishing temp hp the protector cannon provides go very well with tanks just like steak and potatoes. what better tank to slap this on than the ancestral guardian barb?
    4. battlesmith- not alot of flaws here either and the battlesmith is quite versatile as it can be a striker, tank or summoner. a multiclass combo i'd suggest here is going arcane archer. aligning your atk and cast stat to be int pump those arcane shot dcs. building around grasping arrow, we can trigger the dmg multiple times using artificer cantrips like thorn whip for dmg on our turn and grapple+dragging with the steel defender on the steel defender's turn. if they decide to escape the grapple on their turn, they will trigger grasping arrow again if they move away from the steel defender.

    You can multi class a powerful build with the artificer but it’s not necessary if you pick the right race: I am playing an adventure campaign based on the Cthulhu mythos book(we’re investigators in a far away continent, ruled by a hostile, but not oppressive, theocracy, our goal is to find the monster/s behind the murders in this small town). My character is a level 4 battle smith artificer, I was immediately intrigued by the steel defender a MEDIUM sized robot which can help you in battle. Per the rules of the dnd a character can successfully ride any willing creature of a bigger size than you. Obvious choice would be a dwarf, fuck that, I chose a zoog. A zoom has a few important features for the artificer, firstly it has a +2 in intelligence, giving the possibility of being a melee machine way more feasible, secondly it has tentacles and a tail both of which can use and manipulate object, I used this ability to convince my DM that they can therefore both take out material components out of my bag of holding and can ignore the somatic component as it can just use its tentacles (effectively ignoring the warcaster feat). They also get a +2 in dexterity which is just free AC, I used my 2 feats on Charge, giving me an extra attack every time i charge an enemy while not on my defender (kn case it dies i’m not totally useless in combat), and the Mounted fighter feat, which A gives me advantage on all medium or lower sized creatures, and B lets me choose wether an incoming attack hits me or my defender. And Zoogs also get a +4 racial in perception, a +2 in everything that has to do with traps and j think a +4 in stealth(might be +2 but I’m not sure). This makes for a character insane both in roleplay (high INT means you can metagame mostly through you’re campaign, I still haven’t failed a “knowledge” check), making the dm mad cause not a single of the 10+ traps have managed to hit us thanks to me, every door opens to me( I also took a criminal background, making me a MASTERlockpicker) and an unstoppable magic war machine, charging creatures with my defender then jumping on them to get them prone have my defender shred them. It’s a real fun character letting you take it to places you wouldn’t think D&D could take you, plus the whole roleplay of a zoog is fantastical, their cannibalistic, trickster, intelligent rats, who try to eat their cat companions but who also outsmart the fuck out every npc the dm hits us with. Great combo really recommend it.

So if your going armorer you can hit on a +8 without your prof bonus. If I were to make an artificer, life cleric, multiclass I would do it like this: mark of healing halfling wither and bloom student background (to get the following spells on my artificer spell list aura of vitality, prayer of healing, inflict wound, wither and bloom and vampiric touch) 10 lvls artificer alchemist, 6 lvls of life cleric (so that you heal yourself as much every turn as you heal every one else with aura of vitality) 2 lvls of stars druid (chalice for an extra d8 of healing per spell) and 2 lvls of necromancer (so you get to add extra damage from artificer to the extra added necrotic spells and the healing as well on wither and bloom and vampiric touch. Petting that cat -your familiar- is suddenly not in the guards best interest or have your owl use its flyby while you heal extra of off them. Another good choice for race is the new bugbear which basically let's you upcast vampiric touch if you beat them in initiative).
    Alternatively you could also go 11 artificer, 6 cleric and 3 warlock. @@FlutesLoot From ranger I take the archery fighting style and choose my favored enemies based on character backstory or local monsters. Monster Slayer I only go to level 3 for Hunter Sense and Slayer's Prey. Hunter Sense is nice for the damage immunities, resistances, vulnerabilities info while Slayer's Prey is for that little bit of extra 1d6 damage from the first attack each turn. Spell wise I take Hunter Mark, Entangle and Goodberrys.

    One of my favorite currently used build was actually from a challenge to make the edgiest non-rogue or necromancer build possible, I call is Iron Doom Man: 3 levels of bear totem barbarian rest armorer artificer. Take Guardian Armor, Mind Sharpener on your armor, Enhanced Defence on your shield, and Shield Master on either your race feat with VH or first ASI and find a ring of mind shielding. Become a raging impossible to hit and all damage resistant tank that can dodge dragon breath weapons and fireballs, Thunder Gauntlet Punching everything into submission. Backstory: standard nerdy like to make cool stuff tinker untill demon raid leaves them alone a crippled in their buring village so they build their armor to go on a destroy all evil quest like out of Goblin Slayer refusing to take your armor off, growling in a gravelly voice about killing monsters all day until you fall asleep standing up in your mech-armor looming over your party's camp like a statue of hatred and murder

      Nothing comes immediately to mind (maybe my article has an idea or two, idk). I don't see great mechanical synergy, but someone could enjoy a narrative combo; maybe a Sorcerer who needs a magical suit of armor to act as a limiter for the power they can't control.

    Battlesmith 3+/Fighter or Paladin 2+.
    Go small race. Ride your battle smith companion. Hold shield and lance.
    Grab fighting style. Your choice.
    Protection for disadvantage again enemy attacks against your mount. Your mount has a reaction to also cause disadvantage to anyone else within 5ft of them.
    Dueling for +2 damage. Because mounted lance is one handed. Watchout for disadvantage at 5 ft.
    Defense for more AC
    Grab mounted combatant for your first ASI. Advantage on the peasants without a mount.

    oil doesnt add a +5 to fire damage what it does is 5 flat damage when ignited so any magical fire damage has to state in the spell that it will light any non worn burnable objects in the spell discription which heat metal doesnt do so they wouldnt pair up

    • @FlutesLoot
      @FlutesLoot 2 года назад

      Here is what the description for oil says: "Oil usually comes in a clay flask that holds 1 pint. As an action, you can splash the oil in this flask onto a creature within 5 feet of you or throw it up to 20 feet, shattering it on impact. Make a ranged attack against a target creature or object, treating the oil as an improvised weapon. On a hit, the target is covered in oil. If the target takes any fire damage before the oil dries (after 1 minute), the target takes an additional 5 fire damage from the burning oil. You can also pour a flask of oil on the ground to cover a 5-foot-square area, provided that the surface is level. If lit, the oil burns for 2 rounds and deals 5 fire damage to any creature that enters the area or ends its turn in the area. A creature can take this damage only once per turn."

    • @ODDnanref
      @ODDnanref 2 года назад

      Basically. If it is poured on the ground, it needs to be lit to deal the extra damage.
      If it is poured on a person, any fire damage deals extra damage.

    This is super gimmicky. As in, it is an entire build made for one thing and one thing only.
    We present the inescapable grappler. This guy goes into artificer for the infusions that allows you to use intelligence on top of strength for strength checks and such. Then put a couple of levels into rune knight for that extra size and advantage. Flash of genius does prop up your strength check, and then take old hobgoblin for save face for another +5. Skilled expert for expertise in Athletics. This guy can, using all resources, make a natural 1 into a 31 athletics check while a tarrasque can only get a 30 on a nat 20. Meaning that nothing can escape your grapple at level 20.
    There is a bunch of other things I might be forgetting but that is the basis of it. You can also go for Duergar for the enlarge or ask a friendly wizard to cast it on you. Also, Armorer artificer for that extra infusion in your armor. A belt of giant strength (dump strength go all int) and maybe also an amulet for that 19 con.
