    At first I thought these two did not mesh at all, but when you pointed out that sneak attack only needs finesse but you can still use your strength blew my mind. I’m shocked in all the years 5th edition has been out no one else has pointed that out to combo these two.

      @@reallybighat Do you think that for this build would be a good idea instead of +2 for asi to take dual wielding and have 2 rapiers dealing extra dmg with bonus action as it also counts the rage bonus?

    • @reallybighat
      @reallybighat  Год назад

      @@serbanturda7654 That is absolutely a valid option, the only drawback is that you can't make a bonus action attack the same turn you enter rage, as they both cost a bonus action. Other than that, though, it's a cool concept for some extra punch!

    • @chrisg8989
      @chrisg8989 Год назад

      Don't even need strength at all, really. (Well 13Minimum) the only benefit for using strength is to get the +2 or 3 dmg from Rage, which is insignificant.
      Instead of wasting valuable Stat/feat options to max both, just skip strength and max con instead and pick up nice feats, too.

    Another fun combo (but maybe not as optimal) is Ancestral Guardian + ranged Rogue. You give your frontline basically the Dodge Action as the enemy you hit has disadvantage against anyone but you plus your allies have resistance against damage from attacks. Take Scout Rogue to be more nimble and to keep your distance from approaching enemies. Bad part about this is you cant add rage damage bonus and cant use Reckless Attack.

    I think I would take Barbarian first to get Constitution saving proficiency.

    For my Tabaxi Barb/Phantom Rogue, we worked in the concept of the Barbarian aspect being a sort of parasite due to a Cursed Weapon, this helps in balancing out theoretically always landing Sneak Attacks boosted by Necrotic Damage, while still keeping an insane degree of movement offered by Feline Agility and Dash combos

      I like it, the roleplay and the overall theming of the character is honestly one of the harder things to get right with this class combination!

    Simic Hybrid, Beast Barbarian, Soulknife Rogue. Take manta glide and tentacles as Animal Enhancements. You now have a White Spike from the movie Tomorrow War. At lvl 8 you can shoot 2 spikes and make 2 claw attacks per turn with sneak attack. When you hit 6 in barb you can grapple enemies, dash up a wall and drop them, then glide down onto them or another target. I would go either barb/rogue 6/14 or 8/12, my preference is 6/14.

    Playing a Goliath rogue-barbarian with a hallucinogen addiction.
    Really shitty rogue(first time ever playing dnd, let alone a rogue).
    Memnon Theoktonos is his name
    Mem went down in a fight with a young black dragon(thanks to 27 max hp and the dragon just rolling nat 20 after 20)
    Memnon wakes up in a field, dying grass and wheat up to his abdomen.
    He sees a figure before him, his great grandfather.
    GGF lectures Mem about fighting dishonourably(like a rogue) and how he's insulted his lineage with his hallucinogen addiction.
    Long story short: Memnon Theoktonos is a Level 3 Barbarian(ancestral guardian) + Level 1 Rogue
    Very close to level 5 but I am unsure whether I should dump the level into his Barbarian stats or his Rogue stats.
    He was originally a Phantom rogue but I really did not know how to play that well.
    I'm thinking that if I get him to level 6, I can make him dual class Ancestral Guardian Barbarian and Phantom Rogue since that would be kinda thematically appropriate but idk if that'd be a great idea. I'm just really tired of him being a glass pistol(not even a cannon).

      @@reallybighat the best part is since I was focusing on being psychic, I used my favorite race, Githzerai(second only to Harengon) so I had ALL resistance cause they naturally resist psychic at 5th level plus if my rage wasn't up I had shield one per long rest

    Planning to run a barb/rogue, high elf failed bladesinger arcane trickster/wild magic. Not optimized, mostly going for flavor. Might take the fightin initiate feat for the dueling fighting style. I think it’ll be fun and also a complete menace

    You can use your cunning action dodge to cancel out the advantage that reckless attack gives your opponent , Rogue and Barbarian synergize pretty well

    • @padma0007
      @padma0007 Год назад +1

      Cunning action Dodge - Reckless attack
      Reckless attack - Sneak Attack
      Danger sense - Evasion
      Expertise - Grappling
      Unacanny dodge - d12 hit dice and if you are totem barbarian , Then yeah level 3 feature too
      This is not even considering you have a basically strong feature by itself that is rage and subclass possibilities
      There are lots of reasons to play this multiclass

    • @reallybighat
      @reallybighat  Год назад

      You're right on almost all counts, but I have to point out that Rogues can't Dodge as a Cunning Action; they can Dash, Disengage, or Hide. Monks can Dodge as a Bonus Action, but it costs them a Ki Point. But everything else is very well-put, and of course, with all the other features you mentioned, it is still a BEAST of a class combination. Thanks for your comment!

    Let me begin by saying that I was intrigued by the video's title. I hadn't seen a Barb/Rogue build before. However, I hope you won't mind a bit of constructive criticism. I watch a LOT of D&D-related RUclips content and In the interest of gaining you more followers, I'd like to make a few suggestions:
    1) Your diction and tone are perfect. Everything you say is clear and easy to understand and (to me) neither too loud nor too soft. Keep doing this!
    2) I think that you're spending too much time on the minutia of the build. Most people who want to see this video already know the basics of building a character so reiterating them is unnecessary.
    3) While you mentioned why Athletics is a good pick for this build (the incredible Grappling potential), you haven't mentioned any other reasons why this build is good. It might be helpful to include a brief overview at the beginning of the video to explain WHY this build is good, some of the interesting distinctions about it, and how it might fit into a campaign setting.
    I applaud you for your efforts. Good luck and keep up the good work.

    Buuu, the bugbear of MotM shouldn't be legal, you could make a warlock (not even sorlock) with it + Alert and the eldritch blast would destroy the first creature it mets, it's ridiculously unbalanced

  • @shadows1192
    @shadows1192 Год назад +8

    This is a ridiculously unbalanced character and I can't imagine a DM not having to have a sidebar conversation with the player regarding this.... I'm sure some would allow it, but they would have to start throwing some higher Cr enemies at that Barbarian..

    • @reallybighat
      @reallybighat  Год назад +3

      It does pack quite a punch for sure, but it really all depends on the table. I can definitely see it being a bit unbalanced if no one else min-maxed, but as a DM myself, I'm typically of the opinion that if someone wants to play a character above the typical strength curve, that's their fantasy, and it'd have to be REALLY disrupting for me to veto anything. But that's just my opinion, and like I said, tables vary. I think there's a place for characters like this, but it does require everyone to be on board with it.

      That would be a pretty lame DM. Min Max Characters are fun. All he has to do is throw harder enemies at you. Simple.
