She and I have stealthed our way into and out of two forts to get military information and scouting. As my 4th lvl ASI/feat, I took Telekinetic from Tasha's to bump my Wis from 17 to 18, and I can now boop people in Wildshape, which is a great deal of fun. One feat to discuss with your DM is Tough. Check with them if they rule that the feat works while wild shaped.
Other honorable mentions are crusher/piercer/slasher. Consider your dire wolf who knocks targets prone or gets pack tactics that gets an additional damage die when it crits. As well as being able to re-roll one of it's damage 2d6 dice per turn. These will "funnel" you towards certain shapes based on their matching damage type.

I realise the appeal of a wildshape druid barbarian but I would like to make an argument for the spores druid as it's wildshape ability does give you temp HP which I believe is affected by rage as well as giving you more ways to do damage (specifically necrotic), it also gives you the animate dead spell which is a good use of your spell slots imo since you're not really going to be using a lot of spell slots due to rage. You can also go for a bit more levels in barbarian to get extra attack for a bit more damage.

And if you want to make a werewolf, take beast Barbarian and dire wolf for your wild shape. As early as 5th overall levels combined, you have the option to attack twice with claws, a bonus bite from long tooth shifter, and you can use the dire wolf bite as an opportunity attack to potentially force someone prone. This'll get even more viable once the Monsters of the Multiverse update to shifters lands in a few days.

I'm playing an artificer now and strongly considered multiclassing wizard, but learned how high a level we were likely to get in our campaign (around 12) and decided that I wanted the later artificer features more than I wanted the low level wizard stuff. First, I think it’s important to mention the brown bear for a 2nd level option druid option. That multi attack right at 2nd level is huge. Second, starting barbbarian gives prof in CON saves to concentrate on utility spells while shifted. Lastly, the alert feet might be just so powerful with this build since winning initiative is almost like gaining an extra turn in combat and allows you to rage before the enemy has a chance to hit. The druid in the campaign I am currently in just took a dip into barbarian at lvl 7. He is a moon druid, of course lol, but he has pretty much had the same couple of moves all game. He summons a creature or creatures, then wildshapes and goes to town. This is his first ever campaign in any ttrpg so he sometimes gets excited without understanding how things work or will hear someone say something is cool without really understanding how or why and wants to try it. I didn't realize that he had not looked into his multiclass further than someone told him it was really strong, so when he summoned his polar bear, then tried to rage and wildshape, I felt really bad when I informed him that he couldn't cast nor hold concentration while raging. We were mid battle so since I am not the DM I couldn't stop play to explain all the things he could do and handle now to balance what he could not. The DM did at least let him redo his turn so that he wasn't wasting his summon, since he really didn't know, but because things were not explained to him correctly he chose to not rage and just attacked with his summon and himself as a second polar bear, non raged. I am trying to get with him this weekend and either send him a link to this video at least, or go over some of the mechanics with him.

He shapeshifts only into the "strongest" possible animal he perceives for each weight category (Saltmarsh seal lion, and a hercules beetle this far). He is super fun to role play and the mental image of a lightning-storm-generating huge raging walrus is just too much. Also, sneak to your opponent's shoulder as a Hercules beetle and slam their throat with bugbear's surprise round extra damage - it's all very silly.

Plus, I'm an aspiring voice actor, so getting to voice each of the animals is a definite plus (and I made sure, my party enjoys it as much as I do.) And, raging as a wildshaped beast is definitely tanky and badass, and in significantly more dangerous battles, getting to add an extra bit of ac and temp health is DEFINITELY useful. In character it was displayed as the beast getting more feral and monsterous. Their hide getting thicker and their eyes glowing green. I got to play it to 13th level and the build as a whole (3 bear totem warrior, 10 moon druid) and it's my favourite character I've played, hands down.

Can a Barbarian Druid wear metal armor and cast for example a spell like lightning lure before or after having been in wild shape? Or is a Barbarian Druid combination limited to just use wild shape and benefit from the Barbarian rage (which is cool, but it would to be nice to also be able to choose spells before/ after/ instead of wild shape)?

    • @forsaken729
      @forsaken729 10 месяцев назад

Under the description in druid: "druids will not wear armor or use shields made of metal"; however, you can cast spells before using wild shape. You can wear non-metal armor & use wooden shields. When you wild shape, you choose to drop the items/armor/weapons, have them merge into your form, or if the beast form can use the item, continue using it (for example a ring can be used on an animal with hands, cloaks usually work, as well as headbands).
If you are a moon druid, your wild shape is a bonus action, so you can cast a spell & then wild shape after (instant spells & spells that last for a duration without concentration are your best options). If a spell has a flat duration & no concentration (such as longstrider), the spell will last during your wild shape rage. So you do have some options. Keep in mind your action types & what spells use which ones.

Is it stupid to wanna get barbarian at level 14 get the bear totem level 3 & eagle at 14 & get druid to level up just for the ability to change into a bear & make a flying raged out bear?

What if you threw being a werewolf into the mix?

If you take long tooth shifter and go beast Barbarian you can be a werewolf pretty easily. If timed well, you can potentially attack three times a turn between between claws and the bonus action bite. The dire wolf's bite can be used for opportunity attacks that might knock fleeing targets prone too.

One single level dip into Monk is a far superior unarmored defense: maxing Wisdom boosts your defense far more reliably. There are also other ways to get resistance to damage types.
This leaves you free to cast and concentrate on spells, adding to the value of a Monk dip rather than barbarian.
I prefer Kalashtar Human for psychic resistance and a free telepathy feature with which to communicate when in Wildshape.
If I dip barbarian, I go bear totem especially if it is only 3 levels, to get resistance to all but psychic (which I got from my race).

Deinonychus are actually larger than Velociraptors, but smaller than UtahRaptors and the Raptors from Jurassic Park (which are more like UtahRaptors). Useless info, but now you know.

Tried this build with a dinosaur varient of this druid multiclass but the unarmed defense was essentially useless. Lovely build but unarmored defense apparently doesnt work in wild shape and you'd have to rage before you wildshape. The only thing being used in wildshape is reckless.

Actually, you can use those options wildshaped. The PHB explicitly says you do not lose class features in your Wild Shape, so you can still use Unarmored Defense and Rage while Wildshaped. Jeremy Crawford also seems to have confirmed this

Deinonychus are the Velociraptors from the Jurassic Park movies. Real Velociraptors, including the ones in D&D, are their smaller cousins and the size of turkeys.

Barbarian druid combo is actually very bad multiclass. Let's be real... if you're going to get barbarian levels you probably going to get 3 for subclass. This means you would be 3 levels behind in spell progression. Not just that but even without barbarian druid's animal forms easily last over most battles. Basically getting resistance would just be "win more".
This "win more" isn't without cost. Which are following:
    1. Progression in better animal/elemental shapes.
    2. Can't concentrate on spells.
    3. Less feats
    4. Behind in spell progression.
So why are these a problem?
Druid can easily access damage resistances on their own with further levels. However what is worst is that your damage and hit rate will be very low. To the point that you're not even a threat during encounter. Meaning... You're just sponge that everyone will ignore and kill last. With being moon druid without barbarian, you can cast powerful control and damage spells while having more powerful forms.

How to play a Barbarian/Druid Multiclass - don't! You will outclass everyone else during the lower levels and make the game less fun for the other players.
