Great vid thanks! Would love to see a test again the new low spin drivers like Stealth plus, Rogue triple diamond etc to see what they can or can’t really do for you
Finally scored my first ever eagle today, thanks to a 310 yard bomb with my cobra Speedzone on to a short par 4, would love to see a comparison with the LTD x LS !
@@SASGolf Cheers Simon, appreciate it! Would love to see the video, bought my Speedzone a year ago for 279 brand new. Now it's selling for about 120 on eBay with the same specs.
Whichever driver suits your swing is the one to get. I tested heaps in a professional fitting recently, and the Stealth was the one I hit the best, by quite a bit. I would have happily gone for whichever one worked best for my swing (and it's faults lol). Good one Simon !
I wanted to try a lighter shaft in my SLDR but after seeing and hearing the M6 I decided to update to a nice M6 with evenflow shaft. I would say the M6 is a very forgiving head and with the right shaft and setup it is looooong! Thanks for showcasing.
Love all your videos, they gets a thumbs-up before watching. Completely honest and to the point in every video. My buddy has the Steath plus driver, I didn't like the feel. I'm waiting for the price of the Cobra to come down.
I bought the SIM2 and still beleive it looks better than Stealth. It both on a course and performance il similar. I also kept my Ping G LST for tighter courses as it’s the ultimate fairway finder (but not as long as TM) for me
I have an M6 driver and was considering upgrading. However it seems that there's only minimal gains for the extra £300. I'm wondering if the carbon face technology is abit of a sales gimmick, given that previous carbon faced drivers have came and gone? Ie. Callaways C4 or Taylormades gloire drivers?
I am a high handicapper and I tested a number of drivers against the Wilson Launchpad I previously had. The Stealth came out best. Ended up with non-stock shaft but it was longer, slightly better dispersion and about 13 yards more carry, 25 yards in all. It was bought.
Simon, thanks for your hard work and honesty as always. Having been a club fitter myself in a past life, the one and only truth is swing technic. I actually believe that today's drivers are probably over engineered because most players I have worked with will never get out all of what the technology actually offers, at least when it comes to the driver. I'm including the fitted player as well as the rack buyer in that assessment. Most would be better served, including myself in using those funds allocated to a new club on lessons instead. Not saying anything ground breaking, just speaking from my real life observations. Cheers!
I’ve got both and can say for certain that there is no difference in distance or dispersion. That said the Stealth driver has a far better sound and look, but happy to use either.
Yeah the sound from the stealth definitely seems more solid. Which makes sense as the more carbon on a driver I have found creates that effect. And agreed Taylormade definitely know how to make good looking equipment.
@@SASGolf I also feel like the stuff they inject in the face to deaden it and reduce COR to under legal limits also creates that nice noise, similar to the effect of hotmelt.
Thanks for the video, Simon. Always entertaining. I think it's cool when you compare old to new. I carry different clubs at different courses and some are ancient (MP14, Cobra Oversize) and some are only a couple of years old. Same goes for my woods (Ping Tisi, SLDR vs new Ping, LTD). Pound for pound I still find it hard to beat the Tisi metal woods and iron tech in the Callaway Hawkeye VFTs are still ahead of some being manufactured today. You rock dude.
Simon, I got a new shaft over a year ago with the same head that I have used for nearly 5 years. I recently hit the new PXG Gen 5 driver and saw less, I hit different heads when upgrading the shaft and hit SIM2 and a couple others, none were better. Today I went and hit the TSR 3 with different shafts, I actually hit the TRS better than my driver by 2 yards with similar dispersion, but the build would have cost me $910 USD FOR 2 YARDS!! The driver I am using is the Callaway Epic Flash SZ with a proprietary TruSpec Graphite design shaft. Not sure if I will ever upgrade at this point. Better sound absolutely; better performance...haven't seen it. For comparison my swing speed is about 105, spin rate is 1800-2400 rpm and smash is 1.50 +/- .01 with my 5 year old driver, dispersion is 16 yards left and right. Not bad for a 55 year old.
For those of us that are in the second hand market- how many more or fewer strikes can the carbon face make before the integrity of the material starts to break down? I wonder the same thing about the foam injected into hollow irons.
I know a bunch of guys at my club who bought the stealth when it came out.. 1 out of the 8 still has it in the bag. Most comments I read regarding the stealth are very negative
I'm still paying the original M2. maybe I'm a bit tight but did testing on a SIM2 last year and didn't think an spending around the $900 Aussie for an extra 5 metres was worth it. I'll keep an eye on the second hand market for when the M2 finally gives out
Hi great review....QUESTION : SIM 2 MAX ( 500 Canadian ) vs STEALTH 2 ( 800 Canadian ).....am I getting 300 dollars worth to go with stealth 2 or would i be fine with the SIM 2 MAX...what are your thoughts ?...thx...cheers from Canada
I've seen sooooo many images of broken stealths this year. I know Taylormade is a bit sketchy on quality control, but it's a bit shocking this year especially
Most of the new drivers aren't going to offer much more if any in the way of speed. It's forgiveness on off center hits where the gains are to be had. The max smash factor is still 1.5. That hasn't changed.
i brought the sim2, its a tad longer but the bad shots are NOT good, so i have gone back to my Mizuno 190 it doesn't go as far but it gives me confidence on the Tee because its more forgiving. i will need to update in a couple of years but will only buy 2nd hand clubs, too bloody expensive new! The 190 is a tad shorter than the Sim2 so that may be a factor TM do make their drivers longer WTF for is any-ones guess! Mizuno drivers are under rated but way over priced over here.
I bought my Stealth 2 days ago and still haven't been able to find the sweet spot. My 1.44 smash factor is very punishing with distance. I'll likely get rid of it for something better
Thanks for watching tom! Appreciate that mate. Yes mate, definitely working on putting a few swing top videos in the content soon. What you struggling with?
@@SASGolf where do I start 🙈 tee height, club position at address, Im coming down on it and slicing it on my miss hits (Im starting use the tip you gave about the head cover between myself and the ball). Ive watched other videos but I feel there's too many things going on, just thought you might have an idea of 1/2 swing thoughts? I'm only now using the driver as my 4 hybrid is my go to club off the tee (likely why I'm coming too steep). Or maybe drills I can do to help with certain parts of the swing? As your chipping/putting drills were really good for me. (Been playing for a year, HC: 19.1)
Tried my mates Stealth and it just feels dead on impact. Not impressed, I'll stick to my five year old Ping. It was nearly half the price whent I bought it, fitted too.
Currently looking for a driver in the $200-250 USD price range, only thing I really care about is the sound & feel, can't put up with the "PING" anymore.. would like a "lighter feeling" head as well.. any suggestions?
Get a new or nice used Cobra f8. Best sound I've ever heard and not short either. It's all about the shaft fitting you anyways. Heads REALLY don't matter much in the last 10+ yrs. All perform almost identically.
Actually haven’t seen anyone playing the stealth this year on my course or other courses visited Alto of people cannot justify paying that much at the mo
Just gave my m5 tour driver away. It developed cracks on the carbon sole. I emailed taylormade they simply apologised bec its out 2 yr warranty. Moral of the story dont buy carbon drivers!
Stealth was the same old, same old @ it's debut! Carbon wood age ya right!!! Maybe they will bring back Rocket-Balls or should I say Balz ?? Just goes to show your old clubs are still good! Don't buy into the crap from the big manufacturers 🐒💩💩
I game an M6, and just went recently to try it vs the Stealth2. I saw ZERO difference in distance between the 2. In fact the M6 had a much better front to back and side to side dispersion vs the Stealth2! Amazing how little difference between a club I bought when the Sim1 came out for 299 US new (4 years ago), and a brand new driver that costs 599 US today! Buying new golf equipment is a scam, how much better can the equipment get? I laugh every time I walk into a golf shop and see brand new equipment in the used bins!
Thanks for watching guys! Let me know if you want to see more of these driver test videos of the newer models!
I'd a sim 9*with hulk shaft changed back to an R9 420cc 9.5 turned down to 8.5 with hazrdus black hitting it further and tighter dispersion
Great vid thanks! Would love to see a test again the new low spin drivers like Stealth plus, Rogue triple diamond etc to see what they can or can’t really do for you

Could do with some advice. I have the g400 9° stiff and the pxg gen5 xf stiff. Should I sell them both and go ping g425??
Thought about the m6 as most of the RUclips pros hit it well, finch, Robinson etc but was still up at the £200 mark when l was looking on ebay 🤔

callaway fit 5 with a fujikura shaft. one dollar. new grip 10 dollars. yep its a few yards shorter but good golly it's economics molly.

So, maybe I missed it but was the outcome there is no difference between the 2, it's all down to swing mechanics?
How can you get that angle of attack Simon? It's savage and I want it bad
