Callaway preowned site is a great place to look for used clubs that are basically new. You also gotta be careful buying a forgiveness based driver sometimes if you hit the ball hard as they increase spin rate for the most part and you’ll hit the ball a mile high and lose distance off the tee.

I’m a 13 handicap (Gold tees) and currently play a Tommy Armour Max driver. It is adjustable and very forgiving. When I was looking for something new, I came across someone at my local golf club who was hitting one and let me hit it. I hit it straight down the fairway every time with a little distance added. I ordered one from Dick’s thinking for only $200 (new), it was worth a try. Been completely satisfied with the club, and have the satisfaction of knowing I didn’t have to pay $400 or more for a new driver.
I'm a golfer who generally scores between 95 and 100 and I have a Titleist TSi1 12 degree, senior flex and love it, it's the first driver I've ever had that I can hit consistently, I can't afford to pay for the latest release clubs so tend to look for clubs 2 or 3 years old if I'm buying a new one.
I've built my own clubs for 30 yrs, and I've used drivers from less that 300cc to 460cc, with and without movable weights. I've found the shaft to be the most important link in this process. When my swing speed was consistently around 120 mph in my mid 30's, I found an Alidla HM40XX shaft was best, and used it in 3 different clubhead designs. At 64 yrs kf age, I recently built a new driver, still using 9.5° of loft and a shaft with less torque, and a higher flex point, and I am averaging 250 to 260 yds off the tee, and I can hit a controlled driving power fade, which is my shot shape preference. I've taken my "custom" built drivers into several places to compare with the high dollar brand names, and my speeds, spin rate, launch angle, etc are just as good or better with the clubs I build for less than $150 vs the $300- $500 drivers. On at least 4 occasions, the person working with me in the club comaprison has asked to swing my club for themselves, and then want to buy me driver from me. Practice, spend time on the range learning to consistently hit the ball with a consistent shot shape, and you will score better. This is not a promotion post to downgrade brand name clubs. I actually use a Taylormade 3 wood that I've not replaced in 10 plus years because of how well and consistently I hit it. A $500 driver is not going to correct a poor swing.
Right now I average 90. Best round was last year shooting an 85. I just got fitted for new irons so hoping to live in the 80s this year! Keep up the great content!!
I'm a senior golfer. I'll shoot generaly 83-87. My current driver is TM M1. My driver average is 185-205. Almost always in the fairway. Also I use the senior tees. I would love to try that TM Qi10 max. Looks awesome. Also a 19 handicapper
80's generally. Just changed from my Mizuno stZ 220, which I loved. But, I just put the P 10K in the bag and am thrilled. It was always going to take a hell of a club to bump my Mizuno because imo, it is the most consistent driver I have ever owned and more than long enough. That is exactly what Ping delivered...one hell of a club.
Just switched to the Wilson dynapowr carbon. For. Mizzy Stz. Similar distance but so much more control and Confidence. Game changer for my driving. Hcap 3.
I regularly score in the high 80s to low 90s. Been playing for about 3 years and one piece of equipment that helped me tremendously is my G425 Max driver (10.5 degrees, outfitted with the Tensei Orange 65 Stiff Shaft).
Last driver I had was a Callaway mavrik and was set up for distance, with a softer shaft and lower spinning 9 degree head. Went this year with a telephone pole Denali black 6x (for me a telephone pole at least) and a spinning Callaway ai smoke max head in 10.5. Was able to retain all my distance while gaining an absurd amount of dispersion. I haven’t missed a fairway in my last 18 holes!
I’m a 25+ handicap and I just got fitted in a QI10 max and I absolutely love it so much more than my previous driver. It was also my first driver fitting which I really feel helped to choose the right head and shaft for my swing. Another plus is that carbon face, it sounds fantastic on impact.
I shoot anywhere from 80 to 95. With the testing of the 2024 Drivers, one stood out for me. The Ping G430 Max 10K. Loved the long drives it produced during testing. Went in the bag that day. So far, it has not disappointed. It keeps the drivers straight-er.
I'm a 10 handicap and currently use the Ping G425 Max. I have tried the G430 Max 10K and there are 2 big benefits: 1) shots seem to be more centred in the fairway 2) the sound is much better than the G425 Max. However, price is a big deterrent as it's nearly $1,000CAD after taxes... so I'll keep the current club for the foreseeable future.
You mentioned the one driver with a massive weight in the heel. I remember as a kid, my Dad adding lead tape to my driver for exactly what you described. I'm 65 now and life is getting harder. I absolutely believe using all the equipment advantages a person can get. I am using a 5W on a lot of my drives for control and consistency on tight fairways. (score lower by keeping it in play and on the short grass). I finally accepted the thought of senior shafts and am now at an 11 handicap (from the old man tees). Excellent content in this video!!!
Just started playing again after a 12+ year hiatus. I used to play to an 8 handicap, now it is 18 and coming down. My last three 9 hole rounds in my league are 40, 41, and 37. I am still playing my old TaylorMade R7 Quad driver that is 20 years old. I am looking for a new driver, so this should help, but I still hit the TM fairly well, so it will be a good experiment.
Another great video. I am an 18 handicap and currently gaming the 2018 Callaway Rogue. My average distance is about 235, and just recently gained more control over the direction of shots; however, I still suffer from the dreaded issue of topping it and it goes less than 100 yards. I've never been fit and as much as I can appreciate the tech and forgiveness in the Ping G430, I just do not like the turbulators. My eyes get drawn to them and since I set up closer to the toe I don't think I would enjoy gaming that driver.
Just got fitted from club champion in a tsr3 7.25 head with Ventus tr black 6-x shaft felt amazing when we got the combination together trying to get back into playing this year probably a 10 handicap because I can’t putt
Been playing the original 2016 Ping G driver for years. Handicap fluctuates between 16 and 18, so happy to see the Ping G 430 Max 10k as the likely choice for me - planning to upgrade next month with a fitting. Want to get the right shaft for me also.
I used to shoot a varying and inconsistent round between 100 and 110. I got fitted with Ping G425 irons and Ping G425max driver. Now I`m shooting low to mid 90`s and I just love the off centred (most of my drives) help down the fairway
12 hcp. I use a PXG Gen5 0311 6.5 60 hzrdus yellow or g5 0311 XF x stiff tensei at raw white depending on course and how my game is. I happened to get both drivers new, for very low price. It’s fun using both and seeing how they compare. Both are 9 degree heads very different shafts, but both were fitted.
12 handicap, just got rid of the TaylorMade Stealth and picked up the TM Burner Mini. I am biased because I love my 3 wood and the Mini is the same shaft length, so its the same swing as the 3 wood (huge confidence boost), it also reminds me of an old school 2 wood (I am pushing 50 years old, so a 2 wood is a throw back). I gained 20 yards over the Stealth, because my misses aren't as bad.
I played ts2 them tsi2 now a tsr2...im so used to it and wouldn't have any other driver. But I also have played titleist for over a decade. Noone beats vokey wedges or scotty putters imo. For an avid golfer they are great investments.
I’m currently off 24 but aiming for 18 by the end of this season. This is only my second year playing. I bought the Callaway paradym last year and really like it.
back to golf after many years away ,no swing anymore ,used to play off 9 ,i'm 74 and i am now shooting 25 plus arthritis everywhere , tried hybrid irons ,waste of space, play better with regular type irons (x22s} but they feel too heavy any recommendation on a suitable newer lighter iron would be most appreciated .Love your videos Peter and happy golfing to all out there and out Eugene.
I’m about a 13 handicap, and I’m still using the Taylormade R1. Got that retro white one also. Had a Sim 2 with an Oban Kiyoshi shaft last year and was hitting 280 consistently in fairways, but buddy hit it just as good and made an offer I couldn’t pass up.
Great video and information, Pete. I've been playing about 5 years. I have recently managed to get in the mid 80's (after a lot of work in my 50s). I'm getting pretty consistent around 85. I don't have a handicap figured at the moment. I'm using a Taylormade Sim 2 max driver I purchased in 2023 new from Dick’s.
I'm a 13 handicap and just bought the Qi10 Max with the Ventus Red 5 shaft. I'm older with slower swing speed. The Qi10 just beat out the Ping for consistency in the Club Champion fitting.
stealth 2... I won't be changing for the next 5 yrs. Hit it about 250 on a cold day-45-50 degrees but when it's warm... 300-325 for a 53 yr old.... pretty dang good.
Currently a 23 handicap mainly shooting in the 90s. Been playing a few years and started to have some lessons. Hoping to get fit at the end of the year once I have something resembling a consistent technique.
Hey Pete, I am currently sat at about a 16 handicap due to winter and a like of course time, I use the taylormade stealth 2+ and i have to admit, its a great driver, but there is definitely times I could due with some more forgiveness, the ping 10k and the QI-10 MAX are both serious contenders for my bag. Keep these video's coming matey.
@@lxlpsycho I know plenty of players who claim sub 90 averages who cheat and have terrible memories when it comes to writing down a score. Breakfast balls, mulligans, free lifts, hitting OB balls without penalty, fluffing the ball and on and on. Golf is hard and a good score has to be earned not created.
Using the Stealth 2 HD driver with a UST PROFORCE V2 HL regular shaft and love it and am a 7 handicap at age 59 scores last year ranged from 71 to 86 depending on the course my home course was 71 to 81 for scores cheers from Canada
Peter , thank you very much for doing this video. Been waiting for someone to cover this topic. Would liked to see more than one choice per HDC category. It’s a good start. My average score is 80. Please expand on this very important topic if possible. Thanks. 🤙
I'm happy if I hit under 100 😂 but just got a wilson launchpad driver and it's helped my slice no ends it doesn't go as far as my pxg did but I know I can hit fairway 80% of the time so I'm more than happy with it and I'm confident when I tee up now 😁
just got home from a fitting and ended up with the new cobra darkspeed max... a fantastic driver that has given me 15-20 meters more than my old driver which was a ping g425max.. not that ping was a bad driver but the wasn't the longest.. and I play with a handicap of 12.8.. and my miss has always been foooore right... that's why it was the max that won.. and my normal score on a round is 85 give or take...
i have last year's ping 430 max, handicap went from 18ish down to a solid 15. lots of forgiveness off the tee, my slice is more of a fade which is great. went from losing 3+ balls off the tee per round to maybe like 1. would recommend.
I like these comparison videos Pete. Currently around 9.5 handicap and this year switched to G425 max from Stealth 2. Still playing the Kali White 60 gram stiff, -.50" which is a great shaft for me. I have an aggressive transition and a tendency to hit the ball too high. Love the G425's forgiveness better than the Stealth 2's distance
I shoot about 100 usually. Have just changed my old Callaway Octane Diablo for the Mavrik Max. Only used it a couple of times but feels more forgiving if not any longer.
The 1-4 HCP guys at the local club tried my Launcher XL Driver... They absolutely loved it, They said the consistency and forgiveness is excellent. Several have Now bought them and dropped their 'top tier' drivers.
I run the Wilson Dynopower Irons & 3 wood! I am about to buy the wilson Dyno driver now after this video. I'm a 26 Handicap been golfing for 6 months now. Best round 86 & consistently braking 90's now :)
Been golfing 10 months bought my own set of g430s along with a 10k max driver and the clubs a brilliant 28 handicap at the time im currently now at 20 in a few months
last year on medals it averaged out between 85 and 95. I play off 14.7 whs index which gives a course handicap of 17. Tee to green usually not bad but putting really lets me down need to get my head in the right space and do some practice. Currently use a Cobra F9 but just won a Taylormade Qi10 Max had it custom fit and just waiting on delivery.
I am a new golfer and got Cobra F Max superlite driver and irons used on ebay and I absolutely love them. Not sure if the extremely light graphite shafts will hurt or help me in the long run though
I am also 14 and seriously looking at the Dp driver as Huge Wilson fan, itx just the brand I like and go to though after reading up I concluded that the Titanium one ( not carbon) is the better suited one to my HC , I do not know swing speed ect but can I ask, did you try out the titanium V carbon first ?
@@conalsands4748 I did. But I also got fitted for mine - and you should too. It costs nothing and you’ll get the right shaft, lie angle and loft. Not to mention carbon or titanium, depending on which is best for you. Get fitted!
@@conalsands4748 why not test both? Why can’t you? Go to a fitting - like a club builder where you buy your clubs from. He’ll get you to hit like 30-40 balls with different lofts and shafts. And you’ll get the options that suit you best!
Great video, fairly new to golf so don’t have a handicap at the moment. Looking change my driver, I as I picked one up cheap when I started. When I had a driver lesson a few weeks ago, the coach said I had a driver suited towards low a handicap player. I have been and was really struggling with getting any loft into shots with10 degrees. He grabbed a Mizuno with 12degree of loft and the a Stealth can’t remember what loft that was set to. said try these was blown away, by how much higher and further I was hitting them. Yes I still need to work on my swing, but if I make this game a little easier for now, I’ll take it until I have improved.
I started playing golf in the last 4-6 months. I try to get on the course at least once a week, I score around a 110 through 18. Not the best but I can see improvement so I'm happy with the way I'm playing!
Peter, 18 handicapper here currently hitting the Callaway Epic Flash, however looking to upgrade soon. Have my eye on either the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke MAX or the Ping G430 MAX 10K. Been watching your reviews (and others) on both and right now hard to decide, both really seem to be about the same, however it seems that most reviews like the Ping better.
Hi Pete, I've just recently really gotten into golf and am slowly working my scores downtowards 100. (I don't go fishing anymore so needed another hobby to spend ridiculous amounts of money that I don't have on😂) Used to play casually years ago with a set of MaxFli clubs and loved loved them but left them in Australia before moving to Ireland. I have been playing with a cheap set of Stinger STX clubs i bought on special and I never know where the drives are going to end up! A mate recently lent me a Taylormade RBZ and bugger me, I have finally found out what a draw is. Only been hitting it at the range but finally feel confident behind a driver and can't wait to get out for a round when, or more accurately, if, this rain ever stops. Love the show mate and also swing quest. I reckon you've helped my game come along a lot quicker with all your tips. Cheers.
Very high 90s scorer who was recently in the 100s, and hoping to improve more soon. Went for a driver fitting a few months back and was fitted with a Callaway Paradym X 9° stiff Kaili white shaft, which helped with both distance and direction 👍
Can’t believe Peter is giving no love to Callaway’s AI Smoke. I found that a lot more forgiving than the QI10 Max. Probably his team “borrowed” it before filming this video 😂😂😂

For an average golfer, are you against the "stiff shaft"
Not sure I understand the question. I play a Kai’li white 60x shaft
Strongly think if getting one, did you find any extra distance with it
Did not get the stiff, but regular shaft. Not more distance at all, just straighter, but I also had left hip surgery 5 months ago, so.... who knows

I’m a 21 handicap and I recently purchased a Callaway Rogue Max D.
15 handicap here. My TSR3 is not going anywhere anytime soon. I absolutely love that driver.
61 years old, 10hcp, TSI2. Love Titleist drivers.
Also a 19 handicapper
if you shoot average 85 how are you a 19 handicap 72 ccr and 19 doesn’t add up to around 85
I'm a golf beginner at age 40, +40 handicapper, using a SIM2 Max Driver and it is fantastic for me.
Enjoy the journey! Good luck :)
Currently playing off 19 with an average score in the mid 90s. Have had a Cobra Speedzone in the bag for 2 years now and love it.
Never get ride of it unless it breaks. If you need more forgiveness then get a heavier weight!!!
HCP: 17
Score: 80-90
Driver: Nike Vapor Fly (my first and only driver)
Result: That's why I'm currently looking on this awesome video! 😄
I bought the 10K max after watching this video. It does not disappoint. This is the best club I've bought in years. Thanks Pete!
😬
Same, except I've got the 410Max. 12 handicap.
Mid 80s from 6300yard range. Got fit into a TSR2 with a lightweight counter balanced shaft last summer and has been my best club.
I'm happy to break 90 and I use a PXG 0211. Absolutely love this driver and I think its very underrated.
Went from a TSi3 to a G425 Max and now I find almost every fairway. The difference is amazing. Distance isn't everything.
I am a senior golfer, 16 to18 handicap, had G400, recently purchased Taylormade BRNR Mini Driver, but way consider the new Ping 10K
Want to get the right shaft for me also.
you’re literally my comfort person i love you kislux !
I am 67 and play to a 10 handicap. Lots of scores around 80+/- a stroke or two. I game a Ping G430 SFT which I was fitted for and love.
I used to shoot a varying and inconsistent round between 100 and 110. I got fitted with Ping G425 irons and Ping G425max driver. Now I`m shooting low to mid 90`s and I just love the off centred (most of my drives) help down the fairway
Wilson dynapwr carbon man. Handicap 9. Love that club
would you agree a 25+ handicap would perform poorly with this? new to golfing and was thinking about that club purely for the price lol
@@hangtime104 I'd lean towards the titanium version.
14hcp here. I went in for a fitting this year and after trying the new drivers, I walked out with Ping G430 max10k. Was playing Cobra LTDx prior.
5.2 handi. I game the Cobra Radspeed, love it.
I have the speed zone and know a 9 degree Ltdx! Love cobra gear!
I shoot around 82 I’m, 13 years old hoping to get better. Also I use the g430 from ping last year, all my other clubs are a lot older though.
I played ts2 them tsi2 now a tsr2...im so used to it and wouldn't have any other driver. But I also have played titleist for over a decade. Noone beats vokey wedges or scotty putters imo. For an avid golfer they are great investments.
100-110 on average.. 30 handicap.. Love the game and love the content !
Same here. Best 9 holes being 47 and lowest 18 being 100. Playing tsi2 driver/woods and ap3 irons
Started playing during covid. I found a 12* Taylormade R580 XD Max for $4 at goodwill. LOVE this driver. I shot in mid 90s.
I'm an 8 handicap so was good to see I made the right decision going for the Wilson driver 😁😁
I broke my Stealth that I bought pre-owned, and now I'm looking at the Wilson Carbon. The reviews are good, and the price is right.
Did you happen to try it out V the titanium first?
I'm a 13 handicap and just bought the Qi10 Max with the Ventus Red 5 shaft. I'm older with slower swing speed. The Qi10 just beat out the Ping for consistency in the Club Champion fitting.
11 handicap looking to replace my Stealth. Really helpful video Pete!
Me too. Seems like the ping g430 is the way to go based on multiple reviews
stealth 2...
12 HC here. Still playing the Ping G400 and very happy with it. Aldila RIP shaft, regular flex
Been playing Wilson clubs since the 90s Great value but also well put together. 25 handicap player.
Damn, 30 years of playing and still a 25 handicap
@@lxlpsycho I know plenty of players who claim sub 90 averages who cheat and have terrible memories when it comes to writing down a score. Breakfast balls, mulligans, free lifts, hitting OB balls without penalty, fluffing the ball and on and on. Golf is hard and a good score has to be earned not created.
@@joeclutchless1944 yeah dude, 30 years, plenty of time don't you think?
Nice review, I am a 15 handicap and chose the Cobra Driver. Cheers
Using the Stealth 2 HD driver with a UST PROFORCE V2 HL regular shaft and love it and am a 7 handicap at age 59 scores last year ranged from 71 to 86 depending on the course my home course was 71 to 81 for scores cheers from Canada
Consistent 85 using the Mavrik Max driver from 2020.. Great driver!
Peter , thank you very much for doing this video. Been waiting for someone to cover this topic. Would liked to see more than one choice per HDC category. It’s a good start. My average score is 80. Please expand on this very important topic if possible.
Thanks. 🤙
My mom bought one kisluxs and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
I'm happy if I hit under 100 😂 but just got a wilson launchpad driver and it's helped my slice no ends it doesn't go as far as my pxg did but I know I can hit fairway 80% of the time so I'm more than happy with it and I'm confident when I tee up now 😁
78 average and a 3.5 on the index, got a Titleist Tsr3 9degree in the bag currently. Great club that can easily be drawn or faded as needed.
I’m shooting 79-87 with a 15 handicap….I use the Ping G430 driver which I won in last year’s Masters sweepstakes 😂
To answer your question: X-high handicap, subscribed because you put the Ping 430 in the bag. Like watching you play that club.
6 handicap I play the ping 430 and i absolutely love it. So easy to find the fairway and long
just got home from a fitting and ended up with the new cobra darkspeed max... a fantastic driver that has given me 15-20 meters more than my old driver which was a ping g425max.. not that ping was a bad driver but the wasn't the longest.. and I play with a handicap of 12.8.. and my miss has always been foooore right... that's why it was the max that won.. and my normal score on a round is 85 give or take...
i have last year's ping 430 max, handicap went from 18ish down to a solid 15. lots of forgiveness off the tee, my slice is more of a fade which is great. went from losing 3+ balls off the tee per round to maybe like 1. would recommend.
I usually shoot around 80 love the wilson driver but currently play titleist😃
I like these comparison videos Pete. Currently around 9.5 handicap and this year switched to G425 max from Stealth 2. Still playing the Kali White 60 gram stiff, -.50" which is a great shaft for me. I have an aggressive transition and a tendency to hit the ball too high. Love the G425's forgiveness better than the Stealth 2's distance
I shoot about 100 usually. Have just changed my old Callaway Octane Diablo for the Mavrik Max. Only used it a couple of times but feels more forgiving if not any longer.
Stealth HD, love it, so confident over my drives now
The 1-4 HCP guys at the local club tried my Launcher XL Driver... They absolutely loved it, They said the consistency and forgiveness is excellent.
Several have Now bought them and dropped their 'top tier' drivers.
I run the Wilson Dynopower Irons & 3 wood! I am
about to
buy the wilson Dyno driver now after this video. I'm a 26 Handicap been golfing for 6 months now. Best round 86 & consistently braking 90's now :)
Will you get fitted for it first? I am also looking at the Dp titatuim only thing putting me off is when ' draw bias' is mentioned
I game the Wilson carbon. I am a 14 handicap. I love this driver. I drive between 230-250 meters, and the occasional 140 meter… hence the handicap

Got my first outing booked for sat. Expecting doubles and triples all day but very excited
thx pete.
im 69, 14 handicap, and still hitting a cobra mspeed offset 9° cut down to 43". 230 yds.
im ready to move into the 21st century.
Can’t believe Peter is giving no love to Callaway’s AI Smoke. I found that a lot more forgiving than the QI10 Max. Probably his team “borrowed” it before filming this video 😂😂😂
Did you use the AI smoke or AI smoke Max D?
