For a driver like this, I'd like to see Rick bring in a high handicapper and do a direct comparison between this and whatever their current driver is. Side by side simulator data would be interesting to look at, especially if they're using something 3+ years old.
As a 30 handicap, new golfer I'd gladly volunteer 🤘 Rick would have to come to Canada though 😅 but I'd be 100% down to test anything and everything he brought though.. my swing is getting really good, but not super consistent yet, so would be a great test
As someone who works in the industry and is privy to new club info. There are 10.5 and 12 degree options for the g430 max 10k. However when then demos were sent out for testing, only the 9 degree was available. So Rick could easily do a follow up video regarding adding more loft. All the way up to 13.5 if he wanted. I also have tested all the new driver heads for this year and the Ping was far and away the winner. I'm a bogey golfer who normally hits my drives 240 plus but I was getting 5-8 yards more with the lower spin on the 10k. Only 2 drivers that came close to adding that much distance were the Qi10 LS model and the Cobra Darkspeed X. But neither was as forgiving or straight.
The claims for 10k MOI are on off center hits with a perfect swing path. So if your swing path is 0 but you hit it 5cm out of the toe, it doesn’t twist as much at impact which helps the ball go straighter. But if you have an out to in swing path of 5 degrees and a face angle of 0, you will still slice it.
Did my fitting and compared it to my G430 Max, the 10k was def more forgiving on mishits and I didnt lose as much distance with the 10k compared to the Max. The distance was about the same, I was getting a bit more distance with the 10k due to the roll out. I ended up ordering one because the numbers were just way too good for my swing. Great review, Rick!

Hi Rick. Just a thought. Maybe if you want to really have 'forgiveness' test, you can invite any 24 handicapper who is slicing the driver to test out these new the driver. Then we can see is there any difference 😂
It wont be a good marketing campaign for Ping so it will never happen 😅 Ping or whatever golf brand calling their driver "the most forgiving driver on the market"
You won't see much difference. All you will see is the inconsistent numbers from their dodgy swing. You actually need a fairly consistent swing to gather anyway decent data.
For your forgiveness test, in my opinion it would make so much more sense to focus on toe/heel strikes with a neutral path on the launch monitor rather than just hitting towards a fairway and seeing what happens. Like you said, user error comes into play and the driver can only do what it's told.
Amen, finally a smart person who understands.... What Rick is showing here is absolutely un-concrete. But golf is the most difficult game... such difficult that even making objective reviews of equipment is nearly impossible.
I bought a Ping G430 max 3 wood and 7 wood in the last couple months. I’ve also been doing a lot of drills with swing plane and target line to make sure I have a somewhat fundamentally sound swing. I went with larger grips which I believe help me keep the face more square. How this all pertains to your comment is that I could see my ball marks after hitting on the face and I had plenty off center shots and also some pretty far out towards the heal and toe and saw minimal change in shot shape. Even the club felt solid on impact, if I hadn’t been able to see marks on the face I wouldn’t have known they were off center shots. So much happens in a golf swing it’s hard to say what is ever going on without real data but these are the best woods I’ve ever hit in about 10 years of playing. Still rockin an i25 for the driver though!
This is the problem with all the golf. All testing out there. It's done with a robot hitting the ball perfectly. They won't do golf ball testing on mis hit strikes and slow swing speeds because the supposed top ball won't fair well under those conditions
Rick, you are clearly a well experienced and low handicap golfer, unlike some of us who follow you. So why not as a video trial, get 2 or 3 off the street golfers say 22+ handicappers, and get them to test the driver? That way we can see a more realistic result from acclaimed marketing by PING and other manufacturers , that make these somewhat unrealistic claims about their products.
I picked up the G425Max about a month ago, have played maybe 8 rounds with it, and it has drastically changed my game. I went from spinny sliced 180 drives to 220-240 down the middle. Ping makes amazing woods and the 3 wood will be my next purchase after I pumped my friends 3 wood 210 off the fairway. Not bad for a old man, not really (45), with 2 bad hips.
I showed my Dad these videos last year and he ended up getting fitted for the Ping because of your influence and I’ve never seen him so solid with his driver. All I needed to see to know that you know what you’re doing here lol
😊improving balance through your swing is just as effective for the average player. After watching Rick's video with Bryson (increasing ball speed) the huge thing I learnt from that video was Bryson pushing off his right foot (ball of his foot) towards his left heel unleashing all that speed with perfect balance. I went to the range and with my G425 max went to work on Bryson's foot balance. It works! I played a few days later at my local course and hit bomb after bomb. A high degree of straightness and 30-40 yards longer. The driver forgivness played its part when 1 came off the heel and another off the toe, shot right and left 50 yards off centre line but much better than bad misses with my "old" swing foot balance. I reckon the effect of pushing off my right foot base of toes towards left heel reduces the chance of my torso either falling forward or backwards to the ball and thereby a greater chance of finding the sweet spot on the driver face. So, balance first, club forgiveness second. Rick, will you be doing a follow up video on your ball speed to show your progress after your lesson with Bryson? ❤
Wow I am actually surprised after watching this. I have a G430 currently and I love it, granted to get the forgiveness I wanted I had to turn the loft up to 10.5°. I really was expecting this new G430 to do way better. With that price tag to I think I’d lead more towards the Qi10. Excited to watch the full comparison video with all the new drivers.
Fix your swing first, then think about the equipment. If you don't score lower than 80 with even a 2000-2010 equipment, I seriously don't see how buying the "next year" driver can help you. You're wasting money!!! Use it more wisely, pay a teacher friend, or a better one!
My 16yr old son recently picked up this driver in a PING tour Chrome 2.0 stiff shaft and it’s made a ton of difference in his confidence from the tee. The weight is currently setting in the Draw setting and seems to have made all the difference.
I’ve been wondering why my current gamer, PXG 0811 XF gen2, gets no love in the MOI conversation. It breached 10K 5 years ago, when it slightly beat out the G400. Would love to see a G430 max 10K versus G400 comparison video!
With prices still rocketing, would love to see some head-to-head comparisons with Direct-to-consumer brand drivers (Caley, Takomo, Haywood etc). Thanks for the review Rick, always very enjoyable!
Rick great review! Being a club fitter I hit the Ping 10k and it was a good driver. I compared it to the Qi10 max and I’ve never been so impressed with a drivers forgiveness. Intentionally missing on the toe and heel it was incredibly stable.
That price is nuts. Who has that money for one club?! That said, I'd love to see you run it against the TM, and the Callaway. I'd leave the Cobra out, since they aren't selling forgivness this year. Just my thoughts! Keep it up!
Rick- love your honest reviews. Got a question for you.. I can see MOI helping with off center hits (heel vs toe) in forgiveness, but how does it stack up against errors in swing path and attack angles? Would be awesome if you included some exaggerated tests on swing path effects when testing these new "forgiveness" oriented drivers.
MOI is great for fixing bad strike location, but it doesn't cure a bad swing path. Draws and fades are a spin issue, which can be exaggerated by a bad strike, but the typical cause is swing path. If you have a consistent swing shape but don't always strike the middle, then a high MOI driver will be great for you. If your swing path is your issue, buy a 5 year old driver and some lessons!
I think this videos tells you your answer mate! He was doing giveaways for all the other drivers, but not the Ping, and Rick has been a Ping guy for a few years now...
Keep in mind Ping is not saying that this driver will guarantee the ball will go in the fairway. You are still responsible for where the club face is aimed when you hit the ball. All Ping is saying is that once you hit the ball, the face will be more stable regardless of where you point it.
I bought a 16* SLDR head and used it to build a driver for my wife who just started playing golf last year. Amazing driver for her, gets the ball up in the air much better than the standard 12* that came in her first all-in-one sets.
handicap 24 here, tested the ping g4 model, and it was easy to hit 230 meters. sorry, cant make it go further, still learning. would really love to get one but still with my dad's s-yard.
Increasing MOI doesn't necessarily mean it will be straighter. It could, but it depends on the bulge and cg placement and how your swing and strike patterns align with that. Higher MOI does correlate much more with front to back dispersion vs left to right. Again, it would depend on the roll and design of the club face, but ballspeed retention and spin rate consistency would be better on a higher MOI club.
Just bought this after a fitting. I've noticed more consistency over my Stealth and gained 15yds. Dispersion is much tighter. Same shaft and loft spec.
I tried this in the fall and with 10 balls on the launch monitor, they were all within 4.8 yards of distance and 4.2 yards of dispersion laterally. This club is incredible.
Always loved cobra looks but these do look insane, it's great to see RS club reviews back and loved the review on these clubs, would look stunning in my bag
This is the first ever new driver I've bought, not knowing really all of its street cred, just that I hit it well at a fitting, and I can't believe how good it is. I can actually hit driver now. It's amazing.
Would love to see a video all on driver loft. Switching it around from 7 degrees all the way to 15 degrees. And how it affects ball position, hitting, flight etc. And what loft is better suited. I never thought loft would be my "friend" to get more forgiveness
I love your videos so much and your reviews on clubs are great for people like me making there dream bag… also love ur content with other creators which makes it different from ur regular videos but adds an even bigger sense of excitement!!!
@rick Shiels Golf what's the difference between the moi of the previous generations? G430max, g425 max, and g410? Is it worth upgrading if you have a g410 or g425?
Glad I bought the Ping G 425 Max. I liked your review on that one better Rick. You had better results and gushed about how straight it was. Love your reviews. Thanks.
Great review Rick. I’d like to see you get a driver fitting with the head you want and for you to try out some different shafts. I reckon you could then end up with a great combo.
Higher MOI is great if you are missing fairways because you hit it a bit on the heel or toe, but its not going to help you fix that big outside in slice, or not having the clubface square at impact. If you struggle more with getting the face square, the other 430 with the movable weight with the draw/fade settings would do more for your game.
Please think about not only doing a distance comparison but also a consistency and dispersion comparison. Some final ranking on "total performance" relative to all 3 variables.
My 6 year old Ping G400 also has 10k MOI. When I was fitted at Cool Clubs 18 months ago, they just reshafted that rather than sell me a new (at the time) G425.
Seems like a good driver (G425 Maxx in my bag) but I would love to see a video on the Blueprint S irons specifically as that is the set I just started looking at and would love to compare them with the G430 irons
Rick, can you do a video where you Hit the A.I. smoke, paradym original, q.i. 10, stealth, and Ping driver together. Id like to see if you can compare them all when your swinging them all on the same day to get accurate comparisons.
I Love your review channel, I honestly do! But, you are a Phenomenal golfer!!! Your swing, and swing speed is Amazing!!! Of course you can show significantly good, to Amazing performance results!!! But what about a regular guy like me? I won't lie that I would dish out 600 for a club that gives me significant benefits!!! But I am Not a Tour Pro, or a low handicapped player. If the Big Brand company would make clubs for me, and a Million other golfers in this world that are Not professionals, they would make Millions more!!!
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
Went out to BC with a friend a few years ago and rented some clubs for a round, and the driver was a G400. Loved it! Wish I could justify the expense, because I still want one so bad.
Hi Rick. I note your comments about the SDLR TaylorMade. Yes it had more loft but it also had a shorter shaft length which was a significant factor in the club’s performance. Presumably you’re not suggesting Ping should do the same? If so it would probably loose 20+ yards
Right, great vid as always mate. Rick, I noticed two things... a) You're not sitting down and moving your buttocks back as you transition from your backswing to shallowing. b). I doesn't look like you are implementing Bryson's speed drill advice for generating max power. Just an observation mate. You're the best!
Just to clarify, because rick didnt do the best job, (1) no club is going to help you with an open or closed face….(2) The story here isnt about the forgiveness. There have been 10k moi driver before but they spun off the planet. They seemed to have cracked a code to keep spin manageable and consistent all over the face. The fact that Rick spun this at 2400 was honestly pretty amazing.
I think Rick misunderstood where the the 10 K max sits in the G430 range. It's not the most forgiving club they make but sits in between the G430 max and the LST. It's supposed to be a forgiving club that has less spin than standard max forgiveness drivers. Most max forgiveness drivers provide stability at the expense of ball speed/distance
Interesting. Would like to see this against the PXG Black Ops. They aren’t advertising 10k but apparently you can get there with certain weight configurations.

I need one of these!!! Keep up the good work Rick! 🏌️♂️⛳️
I really enjoy your reviews. I like the very honest opinion you deliver. Thanks Rick
Always loved cobra looks but these do look insane, it's great to see RS club reviews back and loved the review on these clubs, would look stunning in my bag
Another great video Rick! Glad you don’t try to lie to us and keep it real.
Thanks for the good editing and side by side
Thanks for the insight Rick
Keen to see the results of this up against the other forgiving drivers & the 2023 430.....another great video Rick.
This is the first ever new driver I've bought, not knowing really all of its street cred, just that I hit it well at a fitting, and I can't believe how good it is. I can actually hit driver now. It's amazing.
Love the look of the top on the ping drivers
Got genuinely excited when I saw you'd posted. Thanks for being so thorough and entertaining as always Rick!
Would love to see a video all on driver loft. Switching it around from 7 degrees all the way to 15 degrees. And how it affects ball position, hitting, flight etc. And what loft is better suited. I never thought loft would be my "friend" to get more forgiveness
Rick your just the best you make golf a lot more fun to watch your videos are amazing
I love your videos so much and your reviews on clubs are great for people like me making there dream bag… also love ur content with other creators which makes it different from ur regular videos but adds an even bigger sense of excitement!!!
Thanks again Rick. Love your videos and value your opinion.
@rick Shiels Golf what's the difference between the moi of the previous generations? G430max, g425 max, and g410? Is it worth upgrading if you have a g410 or g425?
Thanks for the Driver reviews Rick. Keep up the good work!
Glad I bought the Ping G 425 Max. I liked your review on that one better Rick. You had better results and gushed about how straight it was. Love your reviews. Thanks.
Thanks for the honest review Rick, great content
Love these driver test videos, good to see the performance of the new ones coming out.
Great review Rick. I’d like to see you get a driver fitting with the head you want and for you to try out some different shafts. I reckon you could then end up with a great combo.
Guess I'll wait another year! I've been rocking the G15 driver for 10 years now! Was looking at the g430 already will definitely try this one!
You’re a legend mate can’t wait to hopefully get my hands on one of these if I win!
Another fantastic review! Would love to see an updated what’s in the bag now that all of the big brands have released their 2024 woods.
love the looks of it , as a high handicaper I need this
Looks amazing definitely have a look at my options for a new driver this year.
Would you suggest going straight for a 12degree head or can you simply loft up from 10.5 without significantly altering face angle like Taylor Made???
Rick, can you do a video where you Hit the A.I. smoke, paradym original, q.i. 10, stealth, and Ping driver together. Id like to see if you can compare them all when your swinging them all on the same day to get accurate comparisons.
I seriously like the idea of you bringing in an average, to mid handicap golfer into your studio, and seeing the results!!!
I like the merch plug, nicely done!
Thanks Rick. This is a driver I am looking forward to. I very much appreciate your detailed review.
Right, great vid as always mate. Rick, I noticed two things... a) You're not sitting down and moving your buttocks back as you transition from your backswing to shallowing. b). I doesn't look like you are implementing Bryson's speed drill advice for generating max power. Just an observation mate. You're the best!
Love the review as always. Thanks much.
Great reviews and great videos all around!!! Love your channel
Love all your vids Rick! Keep em coming!
Would love to see you compare golf clubs from the 70's with clubs from today. How your distance, accuracy, compare. Would be interesting to see.
Rick, this also comes in a 12 degree head that will go up to 13.5.
Oh my. What a beauty. Love the content as always mate
Nice looking driver. Thanks as always Rick for these vieeos
most driver adapters allow you to add a few more degrees of loft, so if they sold a 9.5 you could get 11.5 and that should help hit straighter.
