I do think Sim 2 is one of the best drivers ever produced by TaylorMade and certainly the better deal on the market right now.
So I bought the SIM 2 max 2nd hand a month ago and love it. It’s way more forgiving than my TaylorMade RBZ and slightly longer, but the RBZ is around 10 years older. I’m so glad to hear the SIM2 max holds its own against the Qi10 as I felt super guilty on scrooging out on the old model. Thanks heaps for helping to justify my tight arse decision Rick! I had a similar experience with my Sim 2 Max a few weeks ago. I tried the Qi10 because I've been struggling with missing left with my driver. Initially I liked the performance of the Qi10 until my fitter swapped the shaft from the Qi10 into my Sim 2 Max. Misses left eliminated and about 5-7 extra yards of carry with my 3 year old driver. My fitter let me do the shaft swap for free since I was buying two new wedges that I was fitted for they day. New isn't always better.

I play the sim 2 max driver and 3 wood. I wont be taking them out of the bag no time soon. One of my golfing buddies wanted to try it, he was like what the hell!! He loved it and is going to buy one as well. Thank you Rick...
Just purchased the Sim2 Max after having played my Callaway Diablo Octane driver for the last 10+ years. I’m just blown away at how tight the dispersion is on the Sim2 Max even on off-center hits. I’ve gained at least 10/15 yards and the sound is just so sweet!! An amazing driver!!!
I have a TaylorMade M3 that is a 430cc model. It has been hot melted at some point before I owned it. It is 11g heavier than other M3 heads I have weighed and actually has a left to right ball flight when the weights are neutral. This club head hit as far or farther than anything I have tried. Regardless of brand or how new it is. I have a new Krank Fire- I had a G425LST- I have tried a Sim Max. Every new driver that comes out- I go try it at Golf Galaxy near me. None are measurably better than my M3.
Great review Rick!!! I have had 2 SIM2 drivers, when I started playing i bought a 12 degree one and this year I changed for a 9 degree SIM2 as well. Love it!!!❤
My old man lives in Spain and was looking for new driver, bought the sim2 as was cheaper in uk and shipped to my house. Obv had to give it a go and pretty nice. I’m convinced every taylormade driver has been the same for 10 years, can’t see anything replacing my m2
I saw it for sale at PGA Superstore for $299 about 2 months ago. Best purchase I have ever made for my game. I'm a ~15 handicap for reference, my brother is a ~6, we both love the feel and distance you get with it. He ever prefers it over his Cobra and is thinking about getting one himself. Totally worth every penny at that price.
Rick funny story I was in the market for a new driver and golf pro actually fitted me for this in January 2024 and in February 8 I played 18 holes for the first time with this driver I was in the fairway and long distance. Love this driver totally worth the money.
Hit the Qi10, Stealth 2, and the Sim 2 Max side by side this year. Went with the Sim 2 in a landslide. Immediately noticed straighter and longer drives (coming from an M4).
This was very interesting to see. You can’t dispute the data. Some of these big manufacturers simply market the hell out of the “new” club failing to deliver the results. This is why the HIT channel is so important!
This was a great video!!! Carrying on from that, how about a g400 max (apparently the FIRST 10k MOI driver) vs the g430 10k max!! As an owner of a g400 max, I’d love to see that… Looking forward to the double weekly videos! 🇦🇺👍🏻
I played with a pal last week who had just bought the new QI10 Max and he couldn't hit it out of his way. I gave him a go with my Ping i15 driver (yes old model) and he hardly missed a fairway. He told me on Sat night he had traded his TM for a 2nd hand Ping G430 Max (ordinary model) and is very pleased.
Sim 2 max w Fujikura ventus graphite shaft is $299 new, $259 used. Is it nuts to buy it off the shelf without going to a fitter? Today i hit the Qi10 and it was solid.
Went through this exact process recently. I have the SIM2 and thought it had been a few years, let’s look at the new models this year for a purchase. I went up and down at a fitting with my SIM2 against all the top brands new drivers and the numbers did not change at all. No reason to buy a new one. I got a new shaft and called it a day!
Great video! These are best review videos, it’s pointless to review new clubs without a comparison of older models. Do the new Darkspeed drivers vs LTDX drivers next! Nice job.
Great video! I’m guessing maybe you do this but it doesn’t appear like it in the video but is hitting a few different sets alternating. When you have an extra couple mph in club head speed on the second one, almost seems like you just finally got warmed up. Could also be just the confidence in that SIM 2, but if you did a couple sets with each, would remove that variable. I have always loved the SIM 2 and the way it looks.
i got the TM sim 2 about 2 years ago as a pretty new golfer, had a cheap tommy armour as my first, then went to TM M4, then got the SIM 2, and i can promise you, the feel isnt even close and forgiveness is amazing. dont get me wrong, it definitely wont fix a slice (i know from experience) but when i strike it good i can got 300 yards out of it, and i have only been playing golf for about 3.5 years (in cold climate so i only get a few months out of the year to actually play). i dont see myself getting a new driver anytime soon.
I think there needs to be a sequel to this video…. But instead of Qi10 Max, use the Qi10 “Core”. Would be curious to see if the ball speeds are more comparable but also curious if dispersion gets even wider with that new ball speed. Anyways, always appreciate these videos. You help us cut through the marketing crapola
14 handicapper here. I picked up the original Sim Max a month ago for like 200 bucks. Its been a bomber tor me ever since I put it in the bag. At the end of the day, you cant go wrong with Taylormade drivers.
Rick, thanks for this timely review. I have had the Sim2 driver for the last couple of years. I love the solid feel when hitting the ball. No other driver I have feels like that. I think for people using a Ping or Titleist driver, it takes a little bit of time to get used to it. I find it fairly forgiving, but I hit the ball pretty straight anyway. Again, thanks for this review. And I can rest easy tonight, LOL.
TBH here, I bought a brand new Callaway Rogue ST Max, which I do believe came out in 2022. When I bought the club, it still had the sticker on the club face, the person I bought it from gave me a hell of a deal at $300 and I purchased it from Facebook Marketplace. IMHO, newer clubs don't always mean they're better. I still play golf with Ping Eye 2, Ping Zing 2, Ping ISt, Adam's Idea Hybrids and Callaway Big Bertha irons and they all do quite well for me and my game. Very forgiving too. I might be losing distance compared to today's modern clubs and obviously a bit more stronger lofted but the older stuff IMO holds its value, still hit and feel phenomenally well. I can honestly say that I built my whole golf set from Facebook Marketplace and all used clubs for about $850 The longest iron in my bag currently is a 5 iron, the rest is a couple of hybrids, irons and wedges. Maybe in the near future I'll invest in a Ping G430 7 Wood.
Really love those comparisons!! Myself im playing the Sim2Max , still a great driver. But to be honest the Sim2Max should be compared to the Qi10 Core Which is the legit successor. The Qi10Max is more comparable to the Sim2Max HD back then, which was the Most forgiving head. Still enjoyed the Video. Thx a lot!!
Just the Standard Version, which sits between the LS and the Max , its the succesor of the Sim2Max and the Stealth (2) , which ist quite confusing i know 😅
In 2017, Rick did a series of 5 year comparison videos for Drivers from all Major Golfing brands. If I'm honest I would love for an updated 5 year comparison series. The 2017 Cobra video just showed how inconsistent they were year to year, I feel like they have come a long way. Also I really need to upgrade my club from my 2002 driver.
Thanks for the comparison Rick! I play the SIM 2 and tested all the Qi releases. I'm not "upgrading" this year. I could be completely wrong, but I just don't think the carbon face is the right way to go.
So crazy story. I just left a callaway fitting for the TD smoke. I was hitting my epic speed further and straighter than the new club. We used the same Ventus Blue shaft but like Rick’s experiment here the old driver was the better option.
Rick! I love that you made this video! When you did the review of the QI10 I commented and said I wanted to try it and replace my Sim2 Max. This confirms all of my feelings about the Sim2 vs any of their carbon faced drivers. Great video!
I agree with you Rick. I feel that the SIM2 max driver and even the irons are some of the best "forgiving with performance" clubs you can get still new right now and with good prices.
I think it would be more interesting in similarly designed drivers. Sim2 and Qi10 max aren’t exactly engineered for the same golfer. You should compare Sim2 max to Qi10 standard those are basically the same design.
another great video! ive been looking at the new taylormade mini driver are you looking at doing a review on it in the future i want a non biased opinion before i would think about getting one! keep killing it
Would love to see Rick review their new mini driver. I know he wasn’t impressed with the one a few years ago but for a mid handicapper that struggles off the tee the new mini is an absolute weapon!
great review. different comparison for me, out of curiosity i recently compared my TSR3 to the original SIM driver. no brainer, that SIM has no forgiveness.
Tested a few drivers recently and the Qi10 was my favourite. Off the back of this video, I just bought a Sim 2 Max as it came with my preferred shaft as standard. Loved it on the range so far, can’t wait to take it out on the course!
Bought Sim2 Max last year when Stealth2 was out, absolutely no regrets. Was such an awesome upgrade over my 10 year old Ping Anser driver I actually enjoy driving the ball now
I went to a sporting goods store recently and hit the smoke ai, ping 430, and the Qi was pretty underwhelmed and than I last minute decided to hit the Sim2 and I will confirm out performed the rest. I ended up buying the sim 2 and couldn’t be happier. I was very intent on getting the smoke ai and walked out saving 300 bucks. The spin rate ball speed and pattern was better than the rest.
I'm a Taylormade guy but I recently got the Cobra LTDx as a gift and instantly saw an improvement in my game. I would love to see how the LTDx compares to the new DarkSpeed.
Ok so we listened to Rick on this video. And went out and purchased the Sim2 Max. The price was right so we thought we would give it a go. Now my son is a plus 5 so he isnt scratch but still a very good ball striker. He hit the Sim2 longer than any previous driver he has hit. Which includes the Callaway Rogue stls, Smoke Max, TM Stealth, stealth 2, QI10 max , Ping 430 Max, 10k and several others. What Rick doesnt tell you is how punishing the Sim2 Max is when not hit well. 300 yard drives down to 250 and less. So again it was a long driver and we own it. But for tournament play the thing just wasn’t consistent. Ended up going and getting fit at the local PGAt store. Which is where a lot of these drivers were hit. Actually had in our minds he would walk out with the QI10 max or the 10k ping. Did walk out with a Ping but ended up being the 430 Max. Which was not as long as the Sim2 but was definitely more accurate. Now my son is hitting 275-280 consistently. And hitting the fairways over 70% of the time. Needless to say it was only about 30% for the Sim2. Anyhow said all that to say this. Go get fit. Dont waste $300 just bc its a good price.
I tried the SIM2 max when it came out. That and the Callaway Epic Speed and TSI3 driver. The TSI3 was miles ahead of both of them. Now have the AI Smoke which is even better.
rick your videos are really honest that’s why I keep watching you see some people review clubs and you can tell they’re trying to look after the manufacturers but your here for the people 💙🤍
Refused to buy a Stealth or Stealth 2 and went with the Sim2 Max about 12 months ago now. PIcked it up second hand on Marketplace for $400 AUD and have not looked back, amazing driver.
I bought mine barely used at pga superstore for $149. Got matching 3 wood for $89. It sits perfectly and I hit them both super. Long and straight with a slight draw. Have to be crazy to,spend 500 for a new model.
Just ordered a used Sim2 Max after watching this. It was from a reputable seller and in pretty good shape for only $200. I can't wait to give it a try.
This is the nice thing about Taylormade and Cobra you can pick up the models that are a few years old for very good prices, always a better value than buying the newest model
Love the side by side! I'd love to see different brands at similar prices compared. I have not purchased a driver in years (Ping G10 in the bag) and I'm cross eyed trying to pick a driver that isn't Ping.

Like I been saying for the past 5 years, driver technology has reached it's max! I believe for the past 2 years that the manufacturers have been reaching for something new with no success. Driver technology is the best that it's going to get! They can't make them bigger, they can 't make them lighter. So if you have a driver from the past 3 years your good.
For context I had a Sim 2 max. Good driver. The QI 10, standard is way superior. I’m 10 yards through the air longer and certainly straighter. The headline Rick uses is for likes and giggles.

SO HAPPY to see this channel back alive... also i love my QI10 3 wood... def worth in my opinion
Good to see the channel back, this shows u should try older models to see if it suits ur swing & don’t just buy the new model, great honest review
These comparisons are great. Looking forward for what's to come.
As an owner of a g400 max, I’d love to see that…
Looking forward to the double weekly videos!
🇦🇺👍🏻
I've been looking at new drivers every year and the G400 max outperforms all the ones I've been trying. Still have it in the bag
Have just purchased one of the sim max 2 drivers and love it, really enjoy3d your review and am pleased I made the correct decision getting one
Love this concept of trying the older clubs and see how they compare to the latest and greatest!! Keep doing it!
I loved the blue that they had on the Sim 2. It is so close to the Nike Vapor drivers that Ive loved for awhile now.
I can honestly say that I built my whole golf set from Facebook Marketplace and all used clubs for about $850
The longest iron in my bag currently is a 5 iron, the rest is a couple of hybrids, irons and wedges.
Thx a lot!!
Just the Standard Version, which sits between the LS and the Max , its the succesor of the Sim2Max and the Stealth (2) , which ist quite confusing i know 😅
@@nicolaijohnigk478 still there was sim2 ,sim2 max and sim2 ls , so I feal that its fair to compare the 2 max .
@@jimbojones420qc no there wasnt a sim2LS , the sim2 was the low spinning tour preferred Option.
The lineup was Sim2, Sim2 Max, Sim2 Max D
Got the Sim2 Max when it first came out and loved it. Still do. Will be keeping it in the bag for at least another 3 or 4 years after watching this!
I went from the M4 D-Type to the Sim2... love the Sim2... great video Rick👍🏻
I have a M2 from 2016, it's great. I was considered getting something new after watching this no chance now. Rick test the old M2! Great content!
Thanks for the comparison Rick! I play the SIM 2 and tested all the Qi releases. I'm not "upgrading" this year. I could be completely wrong, but I just don't think the carbon face is the right way to go.
I just bought a used SIM2 a couple of months ago. The best driver I have hit in 20 years of playing golf. The twist face is a game changer.
bought one yesterday. Tested really well on the range and it sounds and feels amazing.
Great video. Just bought a Sim 2 Max a couple days ago. Can't wait to test it out on the course
I bought the sim2 about a month ago. I tested out 10 different drivers, mostly new models, and still had the best results with the sim2!
Some parts in the BGM sound like a straight final fantasy rip and I’m here for it
I agree with you Rick. I feel that the SIM2 max driver and even the irons are some of the best "forgiving with performance" clubs you can get still new right now and with good prices.
I think it would be more interesting in similarly designed drivers. Sim2 and Qi10 max aren’t exactly engineered for the same golfer. You should compare Sim2 max to Qi10 standard those are basically the same design.
another great video! ive been looking at the new taylormade mini driver are you looking at doing a review on it in the future i want a non biased opinion before i would think about getting one! keep killing it
Upgraded from Nike Sumo to Sim 2 couple months ago. Completely changed my driving game
Just bought a brand new Sim2 Max on sale, so I'm very happy with these test results!
I have just taken up golf. I bought the Taylormade M4 2021 irons 5-PW and the SIM2 Max Driver.
Loved it on the range so far, can’t wait to take it out on the course!
how much did you buy the sim2max for?
@@daddygus3316£250 - although I think most places are around £280 now
I’ve got the Sim MAX 2 and I love it. Was wracking my brain wondering about getting a QI10, no need! It’s staying in the bag for a long while now!
Bought Sim2 Max last year when Stealth2 was out, absolutely no regrets. Was such an awesome upgrade over my 10 year old Ping Anser driver I actually enjoy driving the ball now
I currently have the TM sim 2 max in the bag upgrading from the TM R1. Absolutely love the sim 2
Bought the QI10 this year and do like it a lot. However I LOVED my Sim2 and I keep it as a safety blanket.
I tried the SIM2 max when it came out. That and the Callaway Epic Speed and TSI3 driver. The TSI3 was miles ahead of both of them. Now have the AI Smoke which is even better.
Cheers Rick love the honest opinion. Really insightful video. Keep them coming on this channel ☺️
Great job! Your honesty and integrity is without question.
rick your videos are really honest that’s why I keep watching you see some people review clubs and you can tell they’re trying to look after the manufacturers but your here for the people 💙🤍
Just put a hzrdus rdx blue in my sim2 and it’s by far my favorite setup i’ve ever had. Dont see myself moving off of it any time soon.
Refused to buy a Stealth or Stealth 2 and went with the Sim2 Max about 12 months ago now. PIcked it up second hand on Marketplace for $400 AUD and have not looked back, amazing driver.
Tried all of the new drivers, bought a SIM2 Max last week best numbers of all of them, the SIM2 takes some beating.
Thanks Rick, I was looking to replace the ping , this has made my choice 👍 a little easier
I bought the Ping G425 and I’ll tell you what, the SiM2 is way lighter and I really prefer the Sim2 over the Ping.
I bought the SIM 2 MAX driver and was so impressed with it that I acquired the matching 3 and 5 wood. I am curious about the irons.
Love the side by side! I'd love to see different brands at similar prices compared. I have not purchased a driver in years (Ping G10 in the bag) and I'm cross eyed trying to pick a driver that isn't Ping.
I’ve had the Sim for a couple years now and I love it. I might buy an extra one now to have it for the future if/when my current one needs to be replaced.
Promise made promise kept. Love review videos! Keeps me informed on new and old golf equipment. Suggestion: review golf gloves, specifically red rooster brand. Best glove I’ve ever used.
Hi Rick.
I have compared the results with the test you performed on the Cobra F8 6 years ago (my current driver). Almost the same results. nothing changes...except the price.
Love your videos Rick! You were the first youtube golfer i came across when I started watching. I have followed you since then! Love the H.I.T! As I father of two I don’t get to play nearly as much as I would have liked. And when you live in a small town in northern Sweden the season ain’t that long 😅 but your videos always cheer up! Keep it real boss! Love from Sweden 🎉
Interesting point you made there Rick!
I play my golf with a SIM 2 driver and I wanted to update and buy a QI10 new driver, but now you make me to rethink about it. Do I really need to spend that kind of money on a new club when I already have a goodone in my bag? Great video Rick, as always. Cheers mate!
just tested it against my Sim2 Max. The sim2 felt better and had much better flight and was longer. it'll stay in the bag for a little longer.
I have a sim2 (non max version) and just got fitted 2 days ago for a QI10 (also non max version) after watching your QI10 review Rick, you sold me . Have not ordered it yet, but now you got me all confused Rick! Either way I need to change my head from a 10.5 to a 9 (and yes I am aware it’s adjustable) maybe I just get a 9 degree sim2 head on eBay 😂
You should do this with a few of the old cobra heads too! Like the LTDx, the last time they used a CNC milled face design.
I can RUclips anything golf - and you have the exact comparison I am looking for… ALWAYS! Thank you and keep up the great content
Always interesting to see reviews like this. Another good one would be the callaway mavrik vs the paradym as you can get the mavrik for £230 new at the moment
I got one mint a few weeks ago. Excited to try now. Great comparison.
Bought the Sim2Max 2 1/2 years ago at an end of year sale to replace my R7. Excellent club.
I was a fitter when the SIM 2 came out and it was a great driver (still is). I have the SIM Max and it works great.
I have an TaylorMade R15. How does this compare to the Qi10? Can I adjust my R15 to preform as well as the new ones?
