- The NEW Taylormade Stealth Driver | GIMMICK or GAME CHANGER!? 2022 Taylormade Stealth Drivers (FULL REVIEW!) in 2022 we will see a whole new range of drivers. We have already seen the Callaway Rogue ST drivers and now we see the Taylormade Stealth and Taylormade Stealth + Drivers. Why is the face of the Taylormade driver red? Is it better than the Taylormade Sim driver? What about a Taylormade Stealth vs Callaway Rogue ST comparison? It’s all coming… in this video I review the new Taylormade Stealth drivers and even put the Taylormade Stealth vs Taylormade Sim2 driver… and I do it now!

Best reviews on RUclips as usual James very professional, and you test the driver against it's predecessor which I'm sure is the thing everyone wants to see and know the answers to 👍
Been waiting. Some more about the stealth series this year would be much appreciated. Thanks James.
Excellent review, James. I've been waiting on this one. Thanks for getting it out to us.
Just got fitted for the plus. Ordered it. I have been playing the same clubs since 2007. The tech and experience today is amazing. I cannot to take it to the course. 45 yards better than my old driver. Exponentially more accurate
That’s awesome. Definitely a few changes since 2007 I’m sure. Have to let me know how you like it once you get it.
James, Thanks for the review. I would love to see a comparison of the latest T-M drivers, with the minimum number of differences (only the head design) e.g., the same shaft, loft, etc.
I think Peter Finch may have done this. I haven’t had a chance to watch yet but I believe that’s what he was going to do.
Nice review James. Stunning looking drivers, and you were hitting them particularly nicely. When you went indoors and provided the figures at the end of the video, you only provided numbers for the Stealth +. Can you provide the figures for the Stealth model please? Keep up the great work!
I recently upgraded from the Taylormade M5 driver to this, I have the Aldila Accent shaft in 60 grams stiff shaft, I absolutely love this driver, I've been hitting the ball more constantly and about 10 yards further, it sounds awesome too
Thanks for review, I just got sim 2 max this year fitted, I like the look of it much more and if they this close I will definitely just be keeping my driver thank you
I appreciate very much James commentary. It is - thorough..
Good review James. Interesting to know what makes your bag for 2022.
James, good review, I love watching you test new eqipment. When will Taylormade let you test the rest of the Stealth lineup
@12:52 - happy to hear that the greenkeeper articulated what we were all thinking in our heads........ "one" :)
As always, good review James. If you have a driver older than 6-7 years old, you are going to see some improvements in distance and accuracy....with any modern driver! Yes, it's a new material, but the PGA limits MOI and this driver, and all drivers approved for play, must conform to their standards. If you want one, great, go get it. However, there are plenty of good enough options on the market for most of us. Spend your money on some lessons and get a fitting. That will be worth WAY more than a new driver by itself.
What the PGA R&A etc. don't limit is ball speed across the face and spin on off centre hits. That is to say most modern drivers have a big drop off in distance and accuracy for off centre hits. Low strikes spin way higher, for eg. cost lots of distance. For us amateurs that don't hit the centre of the face on the driver very often it's the off centre results that count much more than the centred hits which will be virtually identical with any current driver. This is what you have to look at for gains in this day and age of golf.
Great job as usual James..Thanks!
When you said it had a damp sound my mind instantly went back to when balata's first came out and we were all still using persimmon blocks... it sounded like a wet fart hitting them.
I still think that was the best sound. Then we had the tink noise of the steel head. Then the ting of the titanium. Now the tank of the carbon....
Quacky Duck - The older drivers that had the high pitched "tink" or "plink" were the worst in the world, in my opinion.
Great review James it's good to see driver technology moving forward. It actually is a new driver opposed to a rejigged older model. Good work 🏌️♀️😊
Sort of but not really! Callaway used to make an all carbon headed driver. Think it was called the C4.
I have mens regular 10.5 motore 60 shaft for years. Tried fittings since and nothing pans out better than this, but this has me intrigued.
Splendid review and super informative!!
Thank you for a great video!
Could you do a quick review on how much more forgiving the Stealth is versus the Stealth +? Is it significant? Any further input on that?
Great video thanks James! I’m loving the red face, bet you must love it too being such a big Liverpool fan! 👍🏻👍🏻😜😜
I would love to see the Stealth up against the R1 driver. I love my R1 but been thinking about up grading my driver this year.
Good video James. I’d love to see M6, SIM comparisons with the Stealth.
Good’un mate.
Honest review as always. They where some drives though. Wow!
Just bought this driver yesterday I can’t wait to play this weekend just upgraded from the r11
Would like to see a test between the Stealth and the Callaway Rogue ST Max. I want to start playing a driver from next year and need to decide which one to play. Also liking the Srixon drivers.
Playing Callaway Apex iron and Epic Speed woods.
Another very enjoyable review…like to see how it compares to the Callaway Epic MaxLS
i recently bought one of these second hand. made a massive difference to my driving
at the 8:20 mark your comment of "oh yea, oh yea" as the shot tracker makes it look like you put it in the trees reminds me of my own game. (yea i know you went over the trees, as you always do)💪
I'm really warming to it. Look forward to testing one out
Checking in a year later. I bought a stealth right off the rack and I couldn’t his a fairway as hard as I tried. Went to trade it back in for my old M4 but the shop owner fitted me for the HD and It’s been my best driver ever.
Great review. I bought this driver the stealth plus and I love it!
This might be the year..I’m still rocking the Titleist 913 D2. Any chance you have one of those in a corner somewhere for comparison? Love the video James .
Looks like a nice club. Definitely something to show off to your mates. That's about it.
Agree. From reviews it is performing at most a yard or 2 better than others.
@@tomsanger5548 I got the Tour Edge C721 last year and I love. Had the Callaway Epic before that and loved it too but I change every 3 years. They don't make bad clubs anymore. At least not the major brands.
@@jimmyReesby Bought a used M2 with an Oban Kiyoshi in it for cheap and thought it was an upgrade to my RBZ Tour. Shocked when I went back to the RBZ since it was superior in every way. Bought an old KZG Gemini 460 with a Fujikura Fit On shaft in it for 2 bucks at Goodwill and my friend hits it better and more accurately than any driver he's tried and he carries about 270. Great solid feel too. Unless you're up in the upper echelons of players there are a lot of drivers that you can get cheap that perform just as well. I just bought a near mint RBZ Tour with a Matrix Ozik RUL shaft in it for 100 bucks on eBay. Betting that will be the bomb when I get it.
Great video. I just placed an order for this in the hopes it will bring my spin down.
The "Plus" looks like it's flying like an Iron and Wow!!!! gain a whole 3 yards or so for $600 additional USD... No thanks. Thanks for the video James!!! and as always the hard work.
Redesigned SLDR , I had one for a while was not a bad driver.
Nice one James...would like to see how the Stealth is performing against the M6?
cheers and Happy New Year
So now is a good time to be buying last years model that manufacturers were all so keen to tell us would let us hit the ball longer and straighter.
No...the price won't come down on last year's drivers until 2023
@@crazygoldcoastdrivers6895 affordable golf has the sim2 max now at £349 , Callaway epics £100 off. Still £400 which is a lot to me
Jan 2023: the stores are still holding the prices… too much for me.
Outstanding review and it will be in my opinion the best review out there on the new stealth driver from Taylormade
Thanks TT. Appreciate your time as always. Let get a game sorted soon
@@JamesRobinsonGolf I’m definitely up for that mate, struggling with my back again unfortunately, slipped a disc again just before Christmas so I’m hoping to get back out there again shortly. Would love to meet up when spring gets here so we can hopefully play in some good weather
Great review and you smoked some of them shots. Any concern over how long the cover on the face will wear over time?
Love the look of that. Wouldn't replace my cobra SZ with it though.
I love my 8 degree Stealth! The low flight and roll outs are perfect in steady 15-20 mph wind and it’s always straight! Hello, greens on regulation! I got a great assistant !
A comparison with the M5 which I currently game would be great James. Looks are OK, not so sure about the red face though, would have to see one for real.
I’m with you, I can’t tell if I like it or hate it. Definitely need to see I person I think
Great video. Great looking club.
I watch all these new driver releases and always say the same thing - MEH!
So long as you have a driver from the last 3-5yrs you're OK. They don't seem to improve much going year on year.. Yes this is now a carbon face but i'm waiting for this type of driver to be 12/24months old in the hands of someone who plays every few days before I decide if that face can hold up to the torture or not.
Carbon is a great material but something tells me we'll be seeing lots of cracked faces in the coming months. And if it doesn't offer much of an improvement over titanium, then what's the point?
Great review, though! Liking this new style of driver review! :)
Back in the DAY, Yonex had an ALL carbon driver the ADX 100 and was a LONG hitting son of a gun .... BUT the carbon face did NOT last long, especially if your ranges had lots of sand as the sand just pitted the crap out of it, and after a few years it would lose small chunks of carbon.
After that they went to a titanium face with an all-carbon head.
Darrell - Good call on the old Yonex ADX. Sand can toast equipment in a hurry.
Thank you for the timely review. I appreciate your work ethic and the quality of your vids!
Regarding this driver: Time will tell and I suppose we’ll know this is the future if Ping adopts the tech. As a consumer golfer, I have reservations about the durability of the carbon fiber/polyurethane face. I golf in Texas where golf temps can range from 100+’F to as cold as one can tolerate. Time will tell- Thanks again for your channel- it brings me happiness and inspiration each morning.
Carbon is not affected by heat - all pro-level race bikes are carbon. Bend/shock doesn't affect carbon much though it creates micro-cracks that in time will cause degradation and lose of resilience (if you hit at full speed on cement that is something else...). However, it will unlike metals hold it shape (no bending). The dangerous thing for carbon is twisting. Hope this helps...
@@christianvachon2235 the polyurethane is likely more worrisome than the carbon fiber for durability…. I use it with my occupation and with time it becomes brittle and is prone to fracture….
@@brentmeister1072 They are for waterproofness, but it is true that polyurethanes are prone to cracking. For me, more than the carbon, that would be the issue for durability. Also depends on thickness - hopefully they will release more info.
Great video! You should carry a marker to mark the balls so you know which shot goes where.
Do you think they will be coming out with Stealth hybrids and woods also?
The burning question James is...Is it going in your bag? . Great review btw.
This is a pretty good review. Sure would like to see dispersion though. Most of us understand we're not going to get 20-30 more yards in length with new drivers and most wouldn't pay $600 for 3 yards longer, but I would pay $600 for 3 yards closer to my intended target line.
Chris - You must be a low handicapper or scratch player to be willing to pay $600 to be 3 yards closer to your intended target line. This implies you have consistent dispersion with your current driver with few errant shots. Expensive equipment in the hands of mediocre or poor players may give negligible improvements over cheap equipment.
I'd just keep practicing my short game and spend the $600 on beers throughout the year, lamenting at the clubhouse that I wasn't 3 yards closer on #4......
So far, after watching all of the big YTers, the dispersion DOES look better. It's been a common thread I've noticed.
@@TheECUDave meh, you just piss out the beer. At least a club gets reused.
I really enjoyed this as well as the comparison of the old R7 and the SIM2..as much as I play, I think I will just keep the R7...lol. No Stealth for me.
Looks like a great driver, it would be great to see how it does against the m2 and M4, let's see how technology has changed and come on over the years
I’m guess it would be within a few yards hahah
They claim 1.1 mph more ball speed than sim driver
Sim2 is better than the Stealth.
Came for the jump cuts, stayed for the content 👍
James would have liked you to show side to side differences as well as long and short. Have Callaway GBB sub zero. Think it is 5-6 years old. Would love to see you compare them. I think Stealth should be about 15-20 yards longer (3-4 yards per year). Would like to see dispersion
Nice one James 👌🏻 do taylormade m4 driver to see the difference between the 2 is worth upgrading now be good one🤞🤞👌🏻
Lot of money for 6 yards extra distance think I will just stick with my cobra f9 could test it again the f9 great video James
Great vid as usual. Carbon wood is redundant wood is mostly carbon and water. Price is whole paycheck
I really hate when people talk about how “tools” look or feel. It’s pathetic! How does it perform….PERIOD! Great presentation…as usual!
You get that this is most people’s hobby Drew?
Thanks James! I wonder how it stacks up against the TSI3
Yonex had a carbon faced driver in the 80s mine cracked after 2 years it also had grooves in the face as well, my metal faced driver from the same time is still in my bag
And this has been approved by the PGA? Gimmick. Great stuff JR!
How forgiving was the stealth in your opinion? Also, was it any easier to work the ball?
James, any concerns about durability of this face and technology? Curious to know if TM is successful with this, will we see this face on a future set of irons?
Interesting to follow the technical development of equipment, but what will the cover and the face look like in say 1-2 years?
Would be interesting to test against the original SIM to see if you found a greater difference.
How does it compare to the stealth 2 drive? Have a comparison to the previous driver. Hit both, one on one. I would love to see a video like that. Any new driver should be good.
I would like to see a comparaison with the old Taylormade driver R7 Quad, thanks!
i have only had my sim 2 drivere for a couple of months and i love it , it does annoy me when a new drivers are bought out so quickly i also believe that manufactures should offer really good part exchange rates when they do this as it feels like you are being ripped off i no there will be minimum differances but you always want the latest driver come on taylomade do something no over manufacturer does allow us sim 2 owners to trade up for minimum cost great review James and a stunning looking driver and i love the red
2 ways of looking at it. I've just bought 3 X Vokey wedges custom fit. They cost me £30 a wedge less than launch price. Nice savings. Recently I've seen SIM2 for at least £110 less than launch price... Now if I'd have waited and bought the SIM2 driver at the end of the run rather than launch time I probably wouldn't be too pissed at a new bells and whistles Stealth driver coming out at a much higher price point. It's going to be a £500 club. So effectively buying the SIM2 at the end of the run will be a beefy saving over the Stealth. Enjoy your SIM2 it's still a beast.
Either you can afford to "always want the new driver", in which case why are you complaining, or if you can't afford to "always want the new driver", show some restraint and learn to enjoy what you have. The SIM2 is a better driver than what 90% of amateur golfers play.
If you want the latest and greatest be prepared to pay the R&D and marketing tax.
Best looking TM driver since R9. Will buy it for that reason, that being said, will wait when it's way cheaper.
Generation development means small gains so think your results are pretty good. 6 yd average gain on Sim is pretty good. Would be. Interesting to compare numbers with 1st gen ie M1/2
Looks like an evolution of the Spalding Thunder Heat!
Damp 😂 Perhaps you should think of a move to marketing 🤣 I have seen it in the flesh and really liked it (did not like sim and hated sim 2, sorry 🤭). Good review James 👏🏻
Fine job James. Any idea on retail price?
I was waiting for the word to be in with a chance to win one lol
To be honest James, I've only taken up golf this year and if a Pro like you is only getting 3 yards more from a new driver what's the point in changing for normal golfers ? As far as I can make out it's just a marketing gimmick. Love the reviews and vids , have a great 2022 James 👍
I’m with you! To erratic to tell any difference rather have forgiveness over distance
Couldn’t use it James for obvious reasons MAN UTD. colours head cover and all won’t get anywhere near my bag lol💛💙 👍
Another reviewer who shall remain nameless as we're all waiting to see his response to your The Showdown Challenge! (😉) mentioned a similarity in looks with the 'ol Nike Covert. Got me thinking: is it a nod to a reimagined Nike Covert? Let's compare: Covert - Stealth? Very similarly meaning names. Bottom of heads are black/red, instead of a red top (Covert) it's now a red face. In both Nike and TM one head option sports a silver edged highlight to it. I have to conclude TM designers definitely were eyeballing the Nike Covert in basic head design and a bold name steal! If I were PING, I'd be pissed lol as they're the ones that purchased Nike Golf patents 😏 Anywho Robo, a great review and I have to say..a more entertaining review then He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named 💥👊😎⛳
Can you please do a head to head with a older driver. Stelth vs SLDR I would be keen to see as they have similar weights at the front.
I can’t wait to see the crossover hybrid bag design to match these drivers 😊 I love the black and red colour ways 😂
Black and red are definitely a winning combo.
But is it worth £499 as compared to the SIM2? Great review, again.
Great review, would it be possible to test it against the Sim Max
Love to see 2016 M2 vs SiM2 vs Stealth
Well done! The Stealth name is fine but “stealth” it is not with the red. But I’m not a marketing guy. Should’ve been black/gray and let the performance speak for itself
Played some lovely drives 😘👌
James, I FNALLY, ordered stealth irons 4-lw and a stealth driver from Taylormade tonite. After 35 years, when i bought Taylormade Burner Bubble OS irons and woods. I am looking for game improvement and more distance. What do you think?
I have noted quite a few reviewers who say they don't like the look of the new face. I think it looks incredible and be able to get it in Blue would be incredible. Great review James and thank you for the content. Happy New Year to you.
I love the look of the new face too. I am assuming the Stealth models are replacing the SIM line up now. So no SIM3?
Interesting, not sure the numbers highlight a significant change. Is it worth the change ? Is there real value in it ? Seems the Sim 2 Max was on point
Did you put both driver on the measurement machine for loft? Curious if they are exact the same or not.
Carbon fiber is cool. I have one of the Yonex carbon fiber drivers from back in the day. If Taylormade has been on this for 20 years they must've picked up where Yonex left off? I do have a question though. How will the powers that be conduct COR testing? Is the testing the same? Thanks buddy.
It sounds like the old persimmon heads we had in the 50-60-70s. I still have my originial 1972 Top-Flite Diver.
Sarge 420 - Those short hitting persimmon woods where a real chore to get around the course with. The old school scratch golfers were real "men" that could bust every shot 100%.
I'm interested to try this!
Excellent review and well presented,,,,,, but 3 yards difference with, I believe you said, 20 years research and development. Honestly ? Can’t wait to see the advertising hype over this. More than 300 yards longer with a dispersion of less than .004 of a centimetre guaranteed.
Gimmick with having Cor (trampoline effect) limits since 2007
Do you have to loft up with the driver like the SLDR?
Can you test this against the M1. I have tried all the new TM drivers since the M1 but all have only given 4 or 5 yards difference.
Definitely would like to see the Stealth compared to my 2016 M2 !!
Thanks for another great review. I've seen lots of your reviews, and in terms of distance, you always seem to carry around 275 yds. whichever driver you use. On the face of it there's nothing to choose between them, or am I missing something?
You ain't missing anything. That new stealth isnt any better than the sim2 or sim. All the drivers are basically the same. If you want a different driver, I would go after the sim2 now and get one for a better price.
@@dadlife7975 I’m with you was waiting for these to release before I got fitted. Now I’m just hoping I get fitted into a previous model as I’ve seen the cobra already and not these and the callaway. Rather save the money then maybeee he a yard or 2 extra.
@@ShawnyBGolf cobra makes a good driver for the price. Definitely worth checking out. But yea all those new driver they come out with in my opinion is all just marketing hype. I'm still using the nike vapor speed driver, cause it's very easy to hit and extremely forgiving, now I will give credit where it's due, nike did make some very easy to hit equipment right before they got out of golf equipment, but that nike vapor I hit just as far as the sim , sim2, calaway rouge, epic, any of them. I have bought and tested out most of the newer equipment against it and none have out performed it yet. Do I wouldn't spend alot of money on equipment, instead start working on finding the center of the club face more than not. Now out of all the stuff I have tested, the sim2 was a very good driver! It was almost as easy to hit as the vapor. You can probably get them for s great price now.
Groovy baby. Your dad will understand. 🧐🤣🤣🤣
In the sim room I need to wear ear protection when practicing my Ping driver, are these Stealth drivers more muted in sound?
I would say the driver got its name from the Stealth fighter jet.. because it was one of the first fighter jets made with the use of carbon.
