- The NEW TAYLORMADE STEALTH 2 Driver... The TRUTH!? When buying a new driver we have to look at what could be the best driver of 2023, having tested all the new drivers that the manufacturers have to offer, including the ping g430, Titleist tsr3, Callaway paradym and now the TaylorMade stealth 2… what is the best driver of 2023? The longest driver of 2023? And potentially the most forgiving driver of 2023. The new Taylormade Stealth 2 Plus, Taylormade Stealth 2 HD and the new Taylormade Stealth plus irons could well be total game changers… let’s do it.. and let’s do it now?

Was holding off to see the Aerojet as an upgrade from my overly spinny rad, but went into a shop for a look a couple of months ago and ended up getting fitted for the ltdx ls, best driver I’ve ever had so defo won’t be changing for a few years now
I was fitted today by a Taylormade fitter and fascinating the changes he recommended from my M4. He reduced shaft length by 1 inch and also went to 11 degrees after I’ve been playing 8 degrees for the last few months. Felt so much more solid and controllable.
In the middle of changing my kit, tested Tsr2, ping G430 and stealth 2 plus and stealth came out on top with the numbers I created. T300 irons, fitting wedges and fairway woods tomorrow, can’t wait
Could definitely see myself using any of the 3. Sounds great!
Morning from Bama! Lets go JR Golf! Back in love with the game after a short winter break!!
Hi, I’m getting back into golf properly this year after a 15 year break, I have played the odd round maybe once a year or so. I am using a 17 year old driver callaway FT3 and x20 tour irons but am going to invest in some new gear this year so these driver reviews have been great to watch. I’m guessing there will be quite a difference over that amount of years compared to the smaller gains that seems to be received year on year. I’m looking forward to getting to the pro shop to have a look around at the latest gear.
I for one will be upgrading my driver this year but with what I’m seeing this year, I’ll take advantage of last years model and cost savings.
Great video as usual, glad to see the review on the new TM Stealth 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Head cover is honestly the best part of this club, that sucker is very fitting of the $600 price tag and should be the new standard for high end drivers. Early testing has me really looking at the G430 LST up +0.5* from stock.
$600 the new price tag? Golf is only expensive due to people buying this. $600 is ridiculous tag
Looks like a replacement for my M3. Thanks James!
Fantastic review James and I’m looking forward to your review on the new Ping G430 driver
I’m sticking with my stealth plus but I didn’t buy a 3 wood last year so this year I’m going to buy the stealth 2 plus 3 wood.
Thanks for the review. The three all look great to me.
I like the continuation of the name, Stealth was such a big departure from what they had done before so I think it made sense
Got the stealth and love it, wouldn’t change it for the stealth 2 as only had it 4 months
Hi James great review thanks.
I don't know if you read these comments But the sound on the last 2-3 Videos has been a bit quite compared to other peoples videos.
Interesting reviews that you have for this driver. Seems the changes and upgrades from gen 1 to gen 2 are not significant enough to upgrade or potentially change drivers.
I am still hitting a TM SIM and I like it very much. No reason to change now but I like the look of the Stealth 2.
I tested the Stealth last year and wasn't really crazy for it. My old r7 Superquad was more consistent, probably because i was used to it. The Stealth was longer for sure, but all over the place. I ended up with the Callaway Rouge ST Max LS, aka alphabet soup. Very forgiving and every bit as long as the Stealth when I managed to hit it well. I was never really a fan of Callaway until trying this driver.
Lookig for a new driver this year (soon). The current one is a Callaway FT 5 draw from 2008. Think I still can make a huge jump in performance with a driver from 2019-2020.
TM never fail to make great looking drivers and the head cover looks very premium
I think this year is the most competitive in Drivers....I have no idea which one i prefer Ping G430.....Callaway Paradym.....Titleist TSR2......Cobra Aerojet....Taylormade Stealth 2....all appear to be very very good Drivers.....look forward to testing them out....cheers all from Canada
Yes James please do the comparison between drivers for all major companies if you got the time. Want to know if there truly is a difference.
Totally agree and if possible with shots on the course at the same time to see flight/dispersion/length. I think when using the studio it shows james spreading the ball about a bit yet on the course his strikes are a lot more consistent. He could use a spotter and GPS to measure how far the shots have gone.
Also if the mid to high handicapper could hit at same time and see if they get any improvement for the money asked for by the manufacturers these days
I think it will be a 2 horse race this year again for driver of the year. Callaway v Cobra
Looking forward to the new Mizuno STZ 230 driver release, looks awesome
I have had TM since the burner range. My current club set is SIM, Driver, woods, hydrid and irons. Love um. I tried SIM2 I didn’t notice any difference. Stealth came out tried them didn’t notice any difference. In my opinion average golfers like me maybe won’t notice these slight improvements and tweaks unless we have strong consistency with our swing. It’s great to watch you test these new clubs but your a PGA coach and I would expect to see you it the ball well and notice these changes. However what will these clubs do in the hands of an average golfer who may not have a consistent swing? This is what the average golfer wants to know.
Would love to see you compare the new Stealth to the one you used last season!
I have a feeling a lot of golfers will go into the store wanting the Paradym and leave with a Stealth 2. Similar to last year when they walked in for the Stealth but left with the Rogue.
Looks very similar to SIM2. Not bad, and I don't mind the red. The only way I can see myself going is G430, though from TSI3 unless I find another brand more forgiving.
I think the sim 2 is probably better than both the stealth and stealth 2
One thing you can be sure of, the TaylorMade driver you buy this year will be obsoleted by TaylorMade next year. Maybe even faster than a year. I know of golf shops that refuse to stock them because they get stuck with greatly depreciated inventory. Titleist and Ping have longer development cycles.
Great review 👍
James could hit any driver on the market well 👏🏼 for us who struggle to hit the middle most of the time I'm still not convinced by the Stealth drivers.
Hi James. I went from sim2 to tsi3 and then to rogue st max LS. Why? Simple answer is predictability and forgiveness. Over last few years the tech in clubs has gotten better exponentially. They can't increase smash factor, so the only thing they can do is offer more forgiveness across the face and better spin control. Shafts too are getting way better with ventus tr and even wildcards like autoflex and BGT brava. So today with TSR, paradym, G430, aerojet and others with their uber high prices, I think I will stick with the rogue this season. It usually takes 6 months or so to get real comfortable with the driver for me. I know where my misses are now and because of that, I have more confidence when I step up on the tee. And afterall, this game is between the ears anyway.
I wish I could pick up your used drivers lol I'm still playing the 917!
You change drivers almost as often as I change my undies dude.
Actually it is the Coefficient of Resitution (COR) that can't be exceeded by a clubmaker. The smash factor is ball speed divided by clubhead speed, and it depends on the individual golfer.
@George Sealy yes, however if the cor is illegal then the smash can be higher than 1.5 as the result.
I'm a big Rogue Max fan. You sound like me I change constantly, I'm finally happy with my Epic driver the rogue I'll buy next . One year I went through 15 sets of irons. Yes 1 year 🤣🤣🤣
It is a game changer for me so far.
I had a stealth plus last year. I cracked the face, and taylormade sent me a new stealth 2 plus, and I have it set at the same setup, same shaft, and only played 1 round with it yesterday. I drove 2 par 4's. 1 of the holes is 330 yards. I have drove that hole before but only 1 time ever, and it was 5 years ago and warm weather. The ball flight on the stealth 2 seems to be mire penatrating. I probably average 320-330 yards and alot less fade than normal.
C’mon James, it’s red. Be honest, even if it only made the ladies tee, that’d be enough to put it in your bag this year!😉 On a serious note, love to see you test all the new kit in a shoot out, and then the new stuff vs the last 3 or 4 iterations from that brand - TM, Ping, Cobra and Callaway.
Love the look of the new Stealth. I’m currently playing Stealth 1, but would like to see the Stealth 2 up against the Ping G430 and Titleist TSR2 for both distance and forgiveness 😎
Do yourself a favor and demo COBRA
100% demo a cobra if you can
My brother in law has the stealth, and when he middles it he hits bombs, but my ltdx finds the fairway averaging 290 yards wayyyy more often
TaylorMade has always been my go to brand
But as 2023 new drivers go,
Ping G430 👌 is the one for me..
What shaft was in the Stealth 2 Plus, James? I like the look. Doesn't need to look different from the Stealth model for me, just perform better. More shots in the fairway!
I wasn’t a fan of the looks of the stealth but the stealth 2 looks much better minus the red face.
When I tried the stealth last year the Callaway and the Cobra both performed better for me so it will be interesting to see how this one compares.
If anything the Callaway would be my choice after watching the new products being released/tested. At the moment however, my faithful Epic Flash Sub Zero stays in the bag. Set 9’ with an old school 70 stiff whiteboard, still goes like a cannon.
Yes compare old vs. new same settings also compare newer modells. I think you will find no real differences. Center of FAce speed is since ages on the limit
You seem to be swinging driver with a lot better balance lately than you have in a while. Whatever work you're doing seems to be paying off mate.
I would love to see the new stealth 2 vs the paradym drivers. Also, maybe Laura could test out the women’s versions. (I’m the same level of player as Laura).
I have tried the Taylor Made Stealth and didn’t get on with it at all. My personal preference is with Callaway and currently use a 2018 Rogue driver. I have just been fitted for a brand new 2020 Callaway Mavrik driver and it suits me perfectly and saved me a lot of cash, less than half price?
Looks like SIM and SIM2 colour scheme just make the red more vibrant
Might be the Callaway for you James. Looking forward to the head to head.
Seems like after a proper fitting all the latest and greatest drivers are withing a few yards of each other. I'd just go with the one that has the best dispersion. For me it was G430 MAX without question
Yes plz! You know what I can really see myself doing is winning your old Stealth Driver. #sendit 😉
I'm playing Titleist Pro Trajectory 975D and 975F woods...they are 30 years old. I'm jonesing for new woods. This may be the year.
The Taylormade Mortgage Payment would have been a great name! 😆
In other words, if you want to go TM stealth, get a good condition used stealth 1 for half the price (or less).
Would like a comparison between new drivers and ones from two generations before so Stealth 2 to SIM 2, Ping G430 to G410. Think the price saving to loss of performance will be fascinating!!
Exactly this!
Then at the end show me a length of rope the length of the average distance difference and a stack of £10 notes representing the cost difference.
I'd love to see that as well. I got last year's Taylor made sim2 max and would like to see if it's worth the upgrade 👍
If only Nike hadn't done it already, next year for 2024 they could call it Covert instead of Stealth. Sounds phenomenal when striking it. Thanks James
Been for a fitting and the driver that works for me tsr4 ….. and it’s in the bag pal
Wish I had the money, I would love to try the plus to see if it helps my hook.
I'm a bit of a golf magpie James but thankfully this years line up of drivers does nothing for me. My Stealth Plus sits in my spare golf bag and my TSR3 gets to go play golf. This new Stealth 2 doesn't excite me at all. And the price point of drivers now they need to be exciting.
I have sim 1, i still dont wanna upgrade to Stealth 2. Paradym however, im intrigued
Old vs new is always good content. We golfers are always chasing the next big thing. But in reality, there’s not much difference.
If I was a TaylorMade guy…I think i’d go every other year with their drivers.
I’m sure the Stealth 2 is a solid refinement over the Stealth. But, why would I pay for the model that more or less serves as an R&D test bed when I know the finished product is coming in a year?
Does the red face fade or discolour over time?
Can you compare Stealth and Stealth 2 and how much are the stealth 2 please.
Looks sharp, but I’ll probably go pick up a gently used Sim2 for a lot less and get highly comparable performance.
This whole 'better result anywhere on the face' has by pioneered years ago in driver called the 'High Heat' by a company named Knuth. The driver, fairway, and hybrids all have hotter faces outside of the sweet spot. These clubs are high pitched and loud acoustically on impact, but they go a mile. Maybe get one to compare against S2?
Prefer the Matt finish too much glare where I am. Haven’t had TM driver for a while might consider last year’s model will be cheaper now.
Still can't get past using my M2. Tried the M6 and it put me off using any of the modern models of TM driver
Hi James. I am for a new driver this year. Have just restarted golf last year after 12 y break 😊 I still use my Cleveland Monster from 12 y ago, so I am expecting a huge difference 😊 looking at LtdX or Stealth. Should I save some cash and go 22 model or splash out on 23 🤔🤔 cheers. Love the videos. Carsten
Save the cash and get the ltdx. Performance is better than the stealth and you can get em new on eBay/2nd hand for an absolute steal. The stealth isn’t very forgiving, it’s long but not really much longer than other drivers and the others are definitely more forgiving. If you were going to splurge on a 2023 driver, Ping g430 would be worth checking out but the ltdx is going to perform just as good as the newest models and is a fraction of the price.
@@svk_5104 cheers. Sound advice :-)
Nice stealth 2
Stealth Plus 2 vs Original Stealth Plus vs Callaway Paradym and Triple Diamond Paradym vs Ping G430 vs Cobra Areospeed.
what's going on with your audio in ya vids ? seems a lot more quieter compared to other videos like I notice the difference in sound straight away when watching other reviews 🤔
I love the looks but it looks like Sim2 and Stealth had a baby
Taylor made sim2 max to Stealth 2 a good upgrade?
Hoping the price drops on the stealth a bit now that the new ones are out. I'm gonna shelve the old F9 and give the stealth a real shot this year i think. (If the price drops a bit.)
Unless you’re a really consistent striker of the ball with the driver, you’re probably better off looking at the ltdx or ltdx ls. Can get em at a great price and are far more forgiving than the stealth and doesn’t sacrifice distance.
@@svk_5104 Thanks for the advice. After checking some reviews on the 22 stealth i think you're 100% right. I don't hit the driver with much consistency at all so I'll keep on looking for an upgrade that suits me. I'm thinking ltdx or ping 425 max. What do you think? Thanks for any advice.
@@craigallen5029 I think either of those would be a great option. I play the ltdx and love it. A friend recently switched from the sim2 to the 425 max and it made him WAY more consistent. The ping would be the most forgiving but cobra isn’t far behind in that department at all. I don’t think you could go wrong with either so I would say pick the one that gives you the most confidence when looking down at it.
Nothing so far this year tempting me to upgrade from my Cobra ltd ….yet
Maybe Taylormade “Bling” would’ve been a better name? Still smart though.
What a driver… TM is the best among the best…
They haven’t changed much but I’m tipping the price has ? 😮
Back in the day ? Sim 2 was released 5 minutes before … a new driver every year with all of these companies is mad. Who does buy brand new every year ? I can’t bring myself to do so despite having a number of cunning strategies to avoid pointed looks from SWMBO.
Waiting for them to get rid of carbon face before going TM driver. Maybe next season!
Very imaginative Taylormade Stealth 2 😂😂😂 oh wow HD
The stealth 2 is literally the exact same as the sim2 mold. Just red and blck
TESTING DRY BALL DATA would be the SIM1 driver through to the Stealth 2.
Eh?
@@JamesRobinsonGolf The zenith of clickait, FFS JAMES!!
Taylormade came out with the Sim Max with adjustable draw bias and the Sim 2 Max did NOT have it. Then they came out with the Stealth which did NOT and now the Stealth 2 has the adjustable draw bias. Does anyone see a pattern or just me???
The stealth did have it mate…
@@JamesRobinsonGolf I know but they did it in reverse this time. They went the opposite way that they went with the Sim. Maybe I didn't word it correctly. It just seems like these companies keep doing the same things and re packaging them to get more money. Also, not a fan of Callaway Paradigm or Cobra Aerojet. Starting to see through all the bullshit that I fell for when I first started playing but good luck with your business anyway. PXG UNTIL I DIE!!!!!!!
It's funny all the golf RUclipsrs comes out with videos of the latest clubs at the same exact time. 🤣🤣🤣
Are you ok mate?
Sam results as the Cobra Aerojet then James
Love the ManU colours. Just bought the 2022 Stealth so Stealth2 will be a no from me but love the look of them.
Reckon your driver for 2023 will be the Stealth2+ James. Low spin and ManU colours? Cant go wrong can you? 🤣🤣
Ps. If you look at Scott Fawcetts DECADE you will see that he is a big proponent for just playing the one shot shape with driver. Keep that fade setting James for a fairway finding machine.
The colour is Middlesbrough FC not Man U😊
@guyr7351 🤣🤣 No it isnt. Its actually Sunderland AFC, now that I look at it. 😉
@@stevenhocking7731 no white, deffo won’t buy it if is Sunderland colours, although cannot use a driver consistently enough yet
8:31 that drive went 500 yards?
My concerns about aesthetics disappear if the club performs well.
I don't see any reason why you wouldn't just purchase last year's Stealth driver at a discount? This new model seems practically the same.
i think the only people who care about the name are the reviewers .. most of us just care if we can hit it or not.. i could careless about sound or name .. i tried the stealth and it was inconsistent for me.. i had the M4 it was great i now got fitted with the TSR3 im set for a couple years
Would have been nice to see you put up your original Stealth numbers to compare against the Stealth2. Bet the difference is almost non-existent at your level.
Failed to talk about the new composite bottom of the driver compared to last years model
I just went to Club Champion and used my old Stealth vs the Stealth two. 25 shots each...alternating 5 at a time. Same Ventus TR Blue Shaft and Same TP5 Golf ball.....
Stealth 1:
111.1 Club Speed, 161.6 Ball Speed, 2966 spin, 264 carry, 285 total
Stealth 2
113.4 Club, 167.7 ball, 1883 spin, 276 carry, 311 Total.
Will be going Stealth 2. I am a 7.1 Index.
That’s a big difference in spin rates is that what’s helped the big jump in distances? I’m 24 H’cap and have a course of lessons booked but weather has been pants. Only if I see a swing improvement will I consider the big investment in a fitted driver. I have a PXG 0211 with shortened shaft and still slice it miles right a lot of the time
Have been trying to contact you but not sure if it was you or someone else
SIM2 with red/black paint job? 😅🤔
I would put money on the M2 still beating this on dispersion and ball speed. TM haven't made a decent driver since that OG beast.
I don't see myself buying a NEW driver anytime in the future.
The incremental increases in performance aren't worth the ridiculous prices they are charging.
It’s looks a bit like a toy with the shiny finish, tbh I’m not keen on the way the original looked but I prefer it to the new one
Stick with my SLDR
Couldn’t finish this video…multiple ads popping up killed it for me
The name, the Color mean nothing to me… just performance! Yes please
I suspect anybody could skip probably 2 years of club and not see any difference.
