    Yes! This was the magic move for me at least. The missing puzzle piece. Just finished practice with a swing groover. Foot spray was saying hitting off the heel 3/4 times. Looked this up. Watched this video. Went back. Really started feeling my arms pass through closer. Next thing was the groover swinging straight up and down, and the strikes moved from heel to sweetspot/toe side. Been watching your videos for a while. Same as others, the dude with the under armours who speaks calmly and solves problems. Thank you so much. Keep doing your thing!

    This is the 1st time someone has shown a tangible method to improving ones swing path. Thank you. I also have to mention your calm demeanor much more pleasant to watch and listen. Many instructors are loud and rush through the process that they're trying to teach. Thank you. And, most important it works. ScottyD

    Awesome drill! Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. I've recently been shanking the ball more often than normal, so I started using athlete's foot spray on the club face and found out I'm consistently hitting off the heel or even the neck (hence the shanks) with almost every club. Was at the driving range today trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and tried standing further away from the ball, but was still hitting heel side. I tried adjusting my setup so that the club face was addressing the ball near the toe, still hitting heel side. That made me think I could be unintentionally reaching out for the ball and figured I should try bringing my arms in closer to my body in the downswing, and sure enough I started hitting center of the face. Searched RUclips when I got home and found this video, and I'm stoked to see that you recommended doing just that! Just needed a good way to practice keeping my arms closer and this seems like a great drill for that. Also I'm glad you mentioned early extension, looking back on it, I think that could be part of the problem too. Great advice man, keep it up!

    Excellent drill. The only issue I have is when I try to keep my hands close to my thigh I end up either hitting the ground first or topping the ball horribly. Trying to fix that in my legs but it's too much to think about.

    Great video Troy and I have this very problem. I just went in for a driver fitting and I literally hit 50 drives in a row right off the heel of my driver. Unfortunately the fitter could not help me resolve this problem. We tried different drivers & shafts and still hit them off the heel every time. I also tried addressing ball off the toe which did not work. Finally I tried standing taller, more on the heels of my feet which did not work either. Wow, what a mess and due to this swing flaw I have the fitter was not able to fit me into anything? I basically just handed him $125 for absolutely zero results. I am going to try all of your tips in this video Troy and hopefully I will find a cure. Anyone that reads this who experienced the same problem and found a fix please reply to this message. Again thanks for this great video Troy!

    I've been a chronic outside/in driver of the ball for many years. Just starting to sort it out and getting more consistent with power and accuracy. However I'm hitting the ball slightly on the heal side of centre. Your tip looks simple and makes a lot of sense for my swing. I'll give it a try and let you know how I go.

    Will try this -looks good - defo hit too much off the heel ! Have used stickers on Driver to show this.
    Hands closer to thighs and stance distance from Ball are good starters. Handle close to thigh very good.
    Will report back after I try this next round.
    Thanks!

    it does feel though that im reducing the speed in my arms by keeping them next to my body, rather shortened swing by keeping the arms almost locked in - T Rex comes to mind. Have i got this wrong@

    • @Hittingitsolid
      @Hittingitsolid  3 года назад +2

      Hi Adam, sounds like you're lead wrist is cupping a bit in the downswing which leaves the face open unless you flip at the last second. Work on bowing that lead wrist in the downswing so it squares up the clubface better. Cheers

    I don’t understand how to make the move of getting your hands closer to your body without getting the dreaded “alligator arm” move in the downswing thanks

    • @Hittingitsolid
      @Hittingitsolid  4 года назад +5

      Hi Larry, thanks for your comment. I would work on half swings finishing the golf swing with straight arms out in front of you whilst fully rotating.
      Practice with a glove under each armpit so you maintain better connection and encourage you to finish with straight arms instead of bent ones. Hope that makes sense. Cheers, Troy

    I line up where my club barely reaches the ball on the toe and I’m still hitting it on the heel and slicing it I’ve already broken two clubs from this

    • @Hittingitsolid
      @Hittingitsolid  4 года назад +2

      Thanks for your comment Kyle, you're likely swinging from the top of the swing without too much upper body and hands and arms and not enough lower body. This results in a steep across the line contact with the golf ball. Without seeing your golf swing this is likely what's happening. Have a look at it on film from down the line and see if this looks right. Cheers

      Me too. I saw a video where the guy showed how to line up the clubhead sweet spot behind the ball on the tee by hovering it i.e. where it actually is during the swing, as opposed to lining up behind the ball with the driver sitting on the ground. The heel does move away from you during the swing. This is also an old Jack Nicklaus tip.

    • @bobbrown5951
      @bobbrown5951 3 года назад +1

      @@Hittingitsolid I have the same issue as Kyle. Do you agree with hovering the driver sweet spot behind the ball at address as opposed to setting it on the ground. When you raise the club up, the heel moves farther away from you.

      @@bobbrown5951 Hi Bob, I definitely feel it's worth practicing and seeing if it works for you. It's not for everyone, but many have experienced success with eliminating heel shots. Give it a shot for sure!

    Great content and informative coaching session Troy just started to use my Driver again and found my strike patterns as you describe only with driver fine when using fairway woods of the tee so thinking the different length of driver to woods is maybe making me to early extension really like the hands closer .cheers

      This is the best video i've seen so far on this subject, others have been very helpful but this one has left no questions floating in my brain afterwards. I play of 7 and can have the odd round with solid drives but the weakest part of my game as when im off, playing partners are comfortably 50 plus yards ahead of me due to the heal strike. Everything you have portrayed her i can now feel myself doing when i hit those bad ones, see it in a video footage on our phones when out there etc. highlighting the early extension or extension regardless and concentrating with those hands staying close has helped massively.
