Hey Rick, do you feel that certain grips can make hitting fades and draws easier as well? I've had some inconsistent success with strong grips helping me hit a fade and weaker grips for a draw, but I've never focused on slightly closing the face at address. Thanks again for the great lesson
So basic, cheers!
Have your employee putting on your grip make you grip lines to a stronger grip stronger or more neutral for set up fades and draws are all about foot position and square upper torso but grip and feet allow draws or fades, or hit it straight the best play any course playing any course allowing you to hit girs
Hey Rick care to join my cousin and I on a round of golf on are home course apostle highland?

I can do all these shots. I just don’t know when they are coming 😂
I’ve never hit a draw in my life
Amen to that!
Forgot the squib, slice, pull and chunk. 🤣🤣
Damn, I thought I was just special 😳😳😳
What about the 90 degree fade. You know the one that comes out straight but immediately finds out of bounds.
You forgot the "worm burner" shot where the ball doesn't even take flight but skips gracefully across the tee box and rests about 20 yards in front of you.
...ahh..you're referring to the "nob out".

No idea why I'm watching this video, 99% of my shots miss the fairway and the other 1% miss the course.
Another great video though Rick!
I’m lucky if I’m in the same suburb.....
Glad to know it's not just me then!
.....10% of my shots miss the ball 😐
Today at the golf range my drive had a huge fade and disappeared in a business complex 😅
😅😅😅
I wanted to mark these out so I can quickly reference this video while practicing at the range; figured I might as well share.
Low Shot - 1:10
High Shot - 3:53
Fade - 5:57
Draw - 8:26
Thanks man
Thanks respect
Ty mate
Good call mate. Thanks!
Cool name!
This is what Rick does best in my opinion; he explains just three things to think about in order to achieve each shot. No overload of information and no long-winded explanations. Following his tips, I've dropped from 9 handicap to 6.
That's awesome... and realistic, I hate when "golf Pros" on RUclips use outrageous thumbnails saying you will take 10 strokes off of your game by this one simple trick.. I feel like those channels should be demonetized, or at least have to rename their videos because they hardly ever disclaim that their tips and tricks will only help 1 out of 100 people do what they said.
You should make a golf basics video. Like how to keep score, green etiquette, etc....
Especially with all the new “COVID golfers” they need some help
I second this. Like when you should call someone out for lying about their score and when to just ignore it.
And talk about Pace of Play and playing ready golf when the course is bogged down. Play good, play fast. Play bad, play fast
Especially PACE OF PLAY! So tired of people taking forever to hit a shot, just get up there and hit it
id def second this, my wife just got her handicap yest and would really benifit from this
@9:46 Love how there is a solo dog just out for a walk
Your editor did really well in this video. Keep up the good work too Rick!
hehe 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rick, you have literally made me love this sport - just started 6months ago and have listened to you and guy every minute I can! My mrs is now a golf widow bless her 🤣
Hi Rick, just wanted to thank you. Some years ago I was a 4,5 hcp player, but I stopped playing because I lost the joy an fun in golf. I put myself under way too much pressure and seceded to quit… untill almost a year ago a buddy of mine started golfing and asked me to join him. I refused many times, but eventually I gave in and joined him for some holes. And I had fun again! The fun in golfing also oozes out of your RUclips contributions. I really enjoy your content and also the fact that you sometimes miss a shot. That makes you really human an like the rest of us! More important, you really enjoy what you do. And that is a great inspiration for me! Getting slowly back into the game! If you ever consider to visit the Netherlands, I would be very hounoured to take you for a round at my homecourse Cromstrijen. Warm regards and keep up the good work! Wkr Lodewijk
man he's such a good teacher - explains everything so well
Love the physical descriptions of stance, swing, blade control, etc. Best description of how to make these shots ever. Well done.
I learned more from this drill than other....made going to the range really fun. No harm in calling shots in an order, it really makes you think pre shot. Loved it
Great explanation of these, Rick. Still waiting to get out for my first round of the year due to having surgery in Feb on my right thumb. I’m able to chip and putt in my house but have not attempted full swings yet due to ongoing issues. Passing my time watching your videos. Cheers!
Thank you! First RUclipsr that I've seen, to actually show how to do these shots! 😂
Hey Rick, I have followed your channel for the past year. IMO your videos and instructions are the best I have come across anywhere. Very straight forward and not complicated. I have never had a lesson and yes I know I do have to do that. But your instruction has given me a great foundation. Thanks and keep the content coming. Lifelong follower now.
The club face set up is eye opening for me. I was always told to pre-aim the face at the end target (so the flag etc.) but would either find myself over working and missing left with draws or right with fades. I can't wait to try the idea of still aiming slightly left/right of the end target with my clubface and then committing to the shot shapes and hopefully see them a bit more accurate than before.
When I saw Ricks low shot, I was like “THAT’S MY HIGH SHOT” wtf? LOL
lmao same!!
Yes!!! Can never get a 7 iron that high! 🙈😆
Same here brother

Rick you are the best!
this was just the video I needed to improve my game
As a newbie to playing golf, this is wonderfully explained with graphics and all. Well done and thank you for sharing!
Nice breakdown giving options, things to experiment with depending on peoples physical needs. Accurate short sharp detailed video. Good graphics to...Thanks
Adding a stock shot with the 7i would have also been a great addition to the video just to see the trajectory difference on the shot tracer of all three shots...high, low, stock.
A video on course management and how to approach each shot. Such as knowing where your miss needs to be and approaching each shot renewed without the last shot lingering and worry of hitting a bad shot again. Positive thoughts only. Great work as always Rick! 👏
Beautiful and challenging golf course, I say "I do ". Can't wait to play it!!!!!!
I’m loving the podcast! Each episode is so intriguing.
Thanks Nick!
I needed this vid
I love those new animations and this video was exactly that what I needed. Thanks Rick!!!
just what I was looking for! Great detail in your shot descriptions, easy to follow, I can’t wait to try them out! Super thanks!
I finally started playing this sport literally 4 days ago, never realized it was so much fun, competitive whike at the same time relaxing.. .found me a new passion. And thanks for the tips ill definitely be practicing as much as i can to see the differences in my shots taken.
I started about the same time as you, got stuck completely and now done well over 50 rounds :D
Hello Rick, Yet again another great video. I’m just beginning and I have learnt a lot from your videos
Thanks!!
Same mate, absolutely loving all Rick's podcasts and videos 😁👌
Thank you Rick! You are an excellent teacher. I love your videos. Keep it up!
Keep up the great videos you have been such a big help at making my senior game more enjoyable 👍
Just came from the range (in snowy Northern Finland :D ) and tried your tips that I have been watching over the winter as our courses have been covered with snow. I must say that you have by far the most tangible and clear tips and instructions on the net. Many thanks: I have been improving my swing, accuracy and control of my game!
Did you use coloured balls?
@@cenzgullo3097 :) nope, but some actually do!
Rick I’m gonna be honest, I’m just trying to get the ball off the ground rn
Don't take Ur eyes off the ball and don't straighten up after hitting the ball
Coming from Ireland. Great video Rick. You explain in a way where it makes so much sense and easy to follow. My game is improving a lot from your videos. Thanks man 👌🔥
Rick I love how you explain things it’s simple and direct love the channel
My thought process for these shots:
Low: narrow stance, ball back 1-2 balls from normal, low hand finish
High: Ball up 1-2 balls, high hand finish
Fade: Aim club where I want fade to start, body aimed twice as left of clubhead. Focus on path along toeline. Occasionally ball up in stance.
Draw: same as fade but out to right and occasionally ball back.
Love these tips. Just started playing 3 months ago and I know it’s not good but when I started I was hitting 144 and now I’m doing 102. Par is coming closer each time.
If you're serious, hit the gym. No need for Bryson level training. 30 minutes 4 days a week will help you to the 80s in no time.
@@lkae4 my drives avg 240-260 yards since I started. Club choice was my problem. Consistency is now my problem. One day my long game is good and the next my short game is good. Some holes in a day I can get both, but not 18. Sometimes I do 36.
That’s very good for 3 months I’ve been playing on and off for 9 months or so (lockdowns) and just about break 100
@@willlauer7311 Thanks buddy! Keep up the good work! On days off days but everyday is a great day on the course!
A good setup will help you with consistency, and take a couple of practice swings to get the feel of the club glancing the ground, it helps me.
Perfect timing. Exactly what I'm working on at the range today
Finally a fantastic, concise primer and reminder about shaping shots. Thanks!
I learnt this stuff from Faldo books and VHS tapes circa 1991 😀. Good to see it back.
He makes each shot look so effortless....
Love the channel Rick. Just started playing golf and your vids have been invaluable...great stuff!
Rick, your videos are really easy to understand and have helped my golf game tremendously. Thanks.
Hey Rick! Love this one. I have a question with the low shot, how come we reduce the loft of the club with our swing and hit soft rather than choosing a lower lofted club (say going from a 7 to a 5 iron) and still swinging softer? Are there any advantages to keeping the same club?
You absolutely can if that is your feel shot. I am assuming that it's just because mid irons have a shorter shaft and more bounce than a long iron. Which would make it more controllable and forgiving. When you are taking off loft with the hands forward you are also taking off bounce. Taking a 7 over a 5 will give you an extra 2 degrees average of bounce to help through the turf. The 5 iron shot has more margin for error theoretically but if you feel good with it and your dispersion is good, that's what really matters
Great video rick! I’ve been learning how to shape my shots, I can hit a fade pretty much on command but my draw doesn’t curve how I want it to, that helped a lot!! Great visuals
This video helped me create shot shapes. Seriously. I had read all the things he talks about in this video previously, but seeing it with the guideline overlays really helped me dial it in. Thank you!
Great video Rick! You have helped me so much sence last year it's crazy I have dropped from a 27 handicap to a 13 handicap and I'm only 15!!

If you demo the heel, toe, top and whiff, I could join you as I'm a semi pro with these 4 jewels!! Fore!!
Hi Rick, the single and very simple trick to help slices with the driver, to use a strong grip by turning my left hand to see 2 or 3 buckles, helped reduced slices by 70%.
Couldn’t be happier with that. Keep the vids coming, you do a terrific job.
Rick. You are the man. Thank you for all your tips.
I can do all of these. The exciting thing is, I never know which one it's going to be!
Absolutely!!!! Lmaooooo!
If you need help showing shots #5....hitting it into the nearest body of water. And #6....into the woods never to be found again. Let me know....I’m about as good at those shots as anyone you’ll ever meet.
I’ve taken notes on nearly all your videos and uses them on the course. Thanks.
Nice way to relay the key messages Rick, love your teaching style and attitude!,
Rick : heres 4 shots to help you get closer to the pin
Me : i hope i can hit in the general direction of the green
Four more different ball flights??? I already have a hook, pull, slice, and top....... Just how many more shots do you expect us to learn??? 😂🤣😎
Lol...And a duck hook is me.
Dont forget the shank. :)
Ther's one more: to the left is hook, to the right a slice and a straight shot is a miracle!
The "kick" - - useful to get out of the rough and also when you're just off the green.
I really appreciate the clear and straightforward explanations. Looking forward to hitting the range and trying to hit the damn draw!
Again tried these techniques while at the range for only my second time… these tips REALLY helped me improve!!!!!!!!!
I hope to one day work as hard on something as Rick works to pronounce “path”
Haha that random dog at 9:46
"Hi Rick, shooting another video I see! Anyhow bye"
Great info, and love how you show all the different angles and trajectory of the ball
Love the videos! Thank you for the tips it has definitely helped me.
I'm still trying to hit my ball straight hahahahaha. Will save this for the future !
There’s no such thing not one tour player on the planet can hit a straight consistent shot. All of them are faders or drawers.
Hitting a straight ball, for non PGA players, is very good and you can score well; dont get sucked into having to work the ball to play good golf.
@@TMar1961 yeah but then you can predict misses as easily
@@InspireApon It's all about dispersion. You can try to play a straight ball flight and aim a little more left or right based on your actual pattern. I haven't seen anything to suggest that the dispersion is worse for players who try to hit a straight ball flight.
@@InspireApon You always desire a 'one way' miss no matter the type of shot you hit, it's easier to correct on course than a 2-way miss. A straight ball hitter has the same chance for misses (left or right) as someone that hits a draw or fade.
I can do all these shots it's just not exactly up to me when they up to
Thanks Rick - Love this...Will revisit it plenty of times I'm sure 🙌👍
Just when I think I've seen your best video, I come across another gem... Thanks for these videos Rick, excellent content!

GREAT video Rick! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

"Struggles to hit a fade" humble brag.
thanks alot rick. Really love how u explained every step
Great content Rick, gives me plenty to practice on the range. Couldn't ask for more😁
I really needed this but first I need to stop slicing 😭😭😭
I fixed my slice just by swinging slower and not trying to crush it
@@moose9689 so let me say I fixed it 3 times by myself without my coach cause we are on a break and every time I went back to golf I got back into slicing. Well The last time I fixed it I slowed my tempo down and everything was fine. But when I played golf 2 days later I kept slicing it 😭😭😭.
Watch Rick's vids !!!!!!!!!!
He has done tons
Simply work on the draw set up from this video (add in his “Stop your slice” video). If you can get into that position, it is impossible to slice the ball. I found that I would think about way too many things, and now approach swings with ONE primary “swing thought”. Rick emphasizing keeping the head of the club behind the body on downswing helped me get more inside and stop my “over the top” move. Practice is the key, and good luck!
I’ve been hitting all four of those shots for years . Just not when I want to . LOL
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I have a slice so the Draw is worth learning....back to the Driving Range. Appreciate your step-by-step instruction; clear and straightforward. Easy to understand.
Love your videos Rick! You’ve helped me out a ton in my game!
"Remember guys drop that score"
Aww man but if I finish quicker, I have to go home to my wife quicker 😆
