Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This RUclips channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

Thanks for all the videos. I had a summer of improvements thanks to your tips. I even broke into the single digit handicap briefly. I love my 6 iron but I have to make a concerted effort to preset my shaft with my 5 iron for a GIR shot. If it is just to advance the ball, I can execute your three steps but for whatever reason on a par 3 or GIR shot with my 5 iron, I can lose my tempo and thin it right. Ouch! The 3 steps to better ball striking and the video on practice range strategy of warm up, technique, target golf and finally, competition + fun will correct my flaw. Bring on January and hopefully less COVID because I hope to be a better student by going to Hilton Head in January to prepare for next summer and make myself proud.
Keep those tips coming and thanks to all those who emphasize those Shiels gems in their comments that help us better ourselves!
PS. Rick, the walking around the UK with the golf bag was a great distraction during COVID's pinnacle of darkness!!! Cheers!

I'm almost 79 and have taken a good number of hands-on lessons and watched videos of "TopGolf Instructors", but you provide the best explanation & demonstration of all. Too many "Instructors" talk throughout the lesson instead of pointing out one's swing flaws and actually demonstrating the correct swing. You have become my "Go-To" instructor! Well done indeed!

I hear you. I am trying to help myself. I have finally started to feel the compression on shots with irons, but only on very short swings by focusing on a nice long takeaway to half way back in the swing and then coming back through. It produces nice strikes for 70 to 110 yard wedger and 9 iron shots. At least it is giving me hope that as I lengthen my swing and figure out how to get in the slot that I can compress the ball. The challenge now is figuring out the 2nd half of the back swing on how not to fall apart to get back down into the slot. Try some shorter shots with focus on takeaway and coming back down through the same path as takeaway. It is crazy how it feels the first time you get a compressed strike that flies out and you hardly swing!

So rick i have noticed that with me personally. I can watch your vids and visualize and adapt to what you are saying as a new golfer, cause ive only been golfing for about 7 weeks now out of 39 years of my life. But there are other people out there that can not relate to these tips you are giving like i can take great. Cause i adapt so easily. My inlaws got me hooked on my vacation in south georgia United states. About 6 weeks ago and i got hooked ever since but then i took what i got shown from them on a course and then watched several of your tip videos online cause you are who i go to first on learning from and guess what. It works. But not everyone can learn that way. You have to gain experience sometimes. Just go out have fun. But im very competitive in any sport i hsve played and this is new to me and now im competitive once more. Thank you for all you do

I was in a little funk with my irons, but I just practiced the first two tips and am back on track. Thank you so much Rick.

Can't wait to try this! My iron game has gone in the shitter! I have tried to work on it this year, but my left should is a mess (needs replaced at 47 years old...uggg)...so I can't practice too much. I'm sooo sick of chunking irons. Between you and the Good Good guys...I hope to fix it!

Ive been watching your videos since i started playing golf at the beginning of the pandemic last year. I am almost consistently shooting at or under 100 in my second year and its all thanks to your vidoes. Any time im golfing with people who have been playing for longer, they wonder why my swing does not look like someone whos only been playing for a year and its all thanks to your vidoes like these. Thank you so much for all tha you do Rick

Rick you have an amazing way of displaying your action. I started playing golf in NZ about 2 years ago & have gone from 36 to 21. I've watched Clay Ballard etc but you have sorted me out ya pommy baastad. Thanks again.

Great tips! Thank you, Rick. The last tip (club shaft leaning slightly forward) really helped me. More consistent shots make me play at a better pace, which makes my golf partners happier. I may never be a great golfer, but having happy golf partners makes for a round of golf that’s more fun, and that’s what it’s all about. Also helps if you bring a lot of single dollar bills to the round so you don’t have to work to make change paying your bets after the round. There! That’s a golf tip from me, based on experience! Have a great next round of golf, Rick!

Rick love your videos. You have fixed my slice most of the time. And stopping hitting irons thin, most of the time. I'm left handed so if you could use front or back foot and say it so a left hander doesn't always have to reverse everything you teach. Thanks for your ability to teach. Michael

Ya know I just happened to find your channel sorta first out of all of them bc you had a good video on chipping that absolutely turned my short game upside down as a new player.
Now a month or so later I'm annoyed when someone else comes up when I ask youtube for golf advice 😅
Keep doing your thing you lucky golf youtuber, you!

Amazing! I just came back to frequent golf after decades of playing 1-2x a year and my driver and short game were great but irons a mess. Chunking shots, hook, slice, topping it, everything. I watched this and incorporated it and I just hit a 7i 160 straight and high 10x in a row. 🙏

This is really helpful. I was wondering why my iron shots were so short or going all over the place. I made the corrections in this video and am now hitting my irons straight and much longer distances.

Just started playing again after a few years lay off. Your tips have already knocked a few shots off especially the irons and the 'thinking' around the course. Thanks Rick. Think I will give the 'JCB' a miss after watching your round there !!!

Cannot thank you enough for these absolutely awesome, and extremely helpful tutorials. I stopped playing for about 5 years, started up again during covid, and definitely needed to go back to the basics.
Rediscovered my love for the game.
Also... Walking to save a bit of $ has added an extra bonus by losing about 40 lbs!
    Thanks Again Rick!!

Hi I'm a new player and have been playing for around 2 months, I played at the weekend and my iron play was awful, I watched this video and played again yesterday as I wanted to put your instructions into practice, I was hitting the ball much smother and getting so much more loft and distance on my shots, yes sometimes I was still fatting/thinning the ball but with more practice I'm sure I will get this out of my game, thanks so much!!!
