@@JFein I understand that it comes down to the preference and feel of the individual. I just wish there was more transparency and less marketing. I should also note that cast tends to be more brittle than forged.🍻
Actually, the feel of a MiM wedge sits somewhere between a cast wedge and a forged wedge. Most people think MiM wedges feel softer than a standard cast (i.e. Vokey) wedge. Personally, I've never tried one, so I can't comment on it. Just sharing information I've heard elsewhere.
Love the feel of the head weight and feel off the face. Perfect. Not bothered at all by not having full face grooves (although, they should have added that).
When we received the Opus wedges for demo where I work at in the PGA superstore in Las Vegas yesterday where I work two days a week. I picked up both wedges and felt immediately the weight difference between the 2 wedges. I asked my Mgr to feel the weight difference and he said he did and weighed them to determine the weight difference was around 8 grams. Great video cause I also play the Jaws Raw wedges.
Something that maybe doesnt seem that big until you play with Callaway wedges is the ability to keep the grooves clean! My Jaws lob wedge has way easier to clean out grooves compared to vokey gap and sand wedges.
Prefer alignment with grooves, not a big fan of grooves all over the face, if you hit it out on the toe with a 60 degree (its a crap shot) its going nowhere with or without full face grooves, that’s my opinion, much nicer look with a nice face framed with chrome borders! Good video 👍
I love full groove wedges too. Therefore my gamer is the 60° Cleveland rtx. And btw I placed a piece of lead tape at the back in the upper section (looks ugly but who gives a s) and indeed the flight comes lower with a lot of spin. Love it. 👍for your video
I currently play the Jaws Full & before that both PM Grind versions...I love the full face...It would have been nice if they came out with full face option for these...
Just to clarify for the audience. MiM is only a feature of the Opus Platinum model as is the “Platinum Blue” color. The standard Opus wedges black color is named “Black Shadow”.
Tex-Mex sure out wedge , with Lee Trevino sombrero had grooves at 30⁰ to parallel across the face so when it was opened up in a bunker the grooves , and in theory the ball spin, was straight , not cutting across, so making the shot easy peasy. Can't wait for the next revolution in golf wedge technology featuring " Ai oblique grooves " 😂
Did you live back to Southern California and leave north metro Atlanta? If so we will miss you at the various courses and driving ranges. Keep up the good work!
I agree with the full face wedge, but maybe a late addition, after we spend a thousand on 4 new wedges, they'll come out with a 56 to 62 opus full face , so another 300 add on lol, my first look on callaway web page and i sighed up, I just ordered the chrome opus it's the only one available so far, the platuim isn't available until August, unless your a big shot like you utubers hahaha, well at least in New York area, I can fill 4 golf bags with all the wedges I have purchased thru out the years, from every different company out there, Wilson makes a decent full face, but the best feeling wedge I've tryed is a Honma wedge, really great quality, but it will cost you, I don't dare go on muria page for any golf equipment especially wedges , I almost pulled the trigger numerous times , but the check out price is insane, hopefully one day I'll just hit buy. lol , thanks, Matt. love your game.
I would buy the Opus wedge tomorrow if it came in the 64 degree option. Not sure why they stopped making it in that loft. I will have to stay with my Jaws MD5 64 degree. Full shot is money at 75 yards, and great around the greens
Is anyone going to mention the grip? What was callaway thinking? I just bought an opus and the grip is a full inch shorter than a standard grip. I had to buy a grip with the new club! I wear an XL glove and my thumb actually hangs off the end of the baby grip they put on the club. So dumb.
Yeah it will be coming in the next couple months...i got the full face jaws after I bought the reg jaws... the reg have been sitting doing nothing for a year
I disagree. Obviously if you arent a good player, it doesnt matter. I have noticed improvements in almost every new version, whether balls or clubs, that 99% there is improvement in the new product
Not true. Almost every new version of product is better than the previous version being the ball or clubs. It is rare there is no improvement. Obviously, for a bad player, it wouldn't matter
Hey Mr. SG, have you ever shown your parents on a video? Did you ever play golf with your dad? Curious to see what your dad’s reaction to your success on RUclips. Apologies if I’m asking too much personal questions. Enjoy your videos! ⛳️ 👍😎
These are players' wedges. Full grooves are for 20 plus handicaps.:) I tried the hi-toe full-face grooves. I actually tried all new wedges. I went with the opus. It just felt the best to me. I hit the taylor made hi-toe really good as well, but the look was just throwing me off big time. I switched from my titleist vokeys. Which i never thought i would even even consider.
Not impressed by their "more edges" on the face. You counted 17 grooves, Cleveland RTX FULL FACE wedges have 23 grooves. By my way of thinking, more grooves, more edges. Micro grooves are meaningless, IMHO.
You act like MiM technology is something new. Cobra has been doing it for years. I currently play the King MiM tour irons and they’re great. Callaway didn’t come up with anything revolutionary.
No industry is better at selling you the same product year-over-year again with such minor changes not only try to tell you how much better the new version is but shamelessly put down the previous years model aka the thing just a few months ago they were saying was the best option available
I would never buy these wedges but that being said I'm a taylormade guy and I play callaway wedges exclusively. Callaway cb wedge that is lol so my wedge game isn't that good don't listen to me at all but my game did improve a lot with cb wedges.
As Callaway is a Californian company I wonder whether the Opus name is also a homage to Opus One Wines of California (superb wine at an eye watering price). I am liking what I see with the Opus wedges but feel I would need to do a head to head comparison with, for example, the Ping wedges
I don't think it's a mistake not extending the grooves. I think it's just a preference thing. I like how it frames the ball when I looking down. I much prefer that over extended grooves.
Dam, I bought Vokeys because they said they had the most grooves. Now I have to come up with another excuse/line of BS to tell my wife so she lets me buy these.🤔
"Metal injection molding" sounds like a fancy way to say it was cast and not forged.
Kind of like the old Cleveland "Form Forged" wedges, that weren't really forged.
Sounds like Cobra MIMs to me🤷🏾♂️
Modern Vokey wedges are not forged. “Forged” does not always equal good, and “cast” does not always equal bad. Just saying!

lmao... $180 - $230... you can keep em... costs are getting out of control... great video!!!
I just bought a new set of jaws raw at pga tour superstore. Less than 24 hours later these come out.
$180 is standard for new premium wedges now across the board...$230 for the platinum is just retarded
@@taylorhering3856i was looking for jaws and they were gone but im happy with the opus
How many of those range balls did you take home?

I totally agree with your review. I put them in my bag, replacing a set of ping wedges.
The platinum blue is NIIIIICCCEEEE ! Perfect timing too, was looking for a new set of wedges.
Something that maybe doesnt seem that big until you play with Callaway wedges is the ability to keep the grooves clean! My Jaws lob wedge has way easier to clean out grooves compared to vokey gap and sand wedges.
Yes very true
Keeping the jaws wedges in the bag !
Very good breakdown of the wedges, and demo with the different shots. Love this.

Thanks for this review. I learned some things. I agree that a full face wedge is the way to go.
I love videos that point out the “one big mistake”. Amazing
Bring back the pm grind.
My favorite
Great video. Like how you show up close vs just talk about it. I love the jaws 60 but might consider one of these.
I currently play the Jaws Full & before that both PM Grind versions...I love the full face...It would have been nice if they came out with full face option for these...
I have a few J grind full face wedges as back ups..👍
Just to clarify for the audience. MiM is only a feature of the Opus Platinum model as is the “Platinum Blue” color. The standard Opus wedges black color is named “Black Shadow”.
Always learn something from your videos
Hate the full face wedges, if you hit it that far out on the toe it's going to be a terrible shot anyway. Love your videos!
Tex-Mex sure out wedge , with Lee Trevino sombrero had grooves at 30⁰ to parallel across the face so when it was opened up in a bunker the grooves , and in theory the ball spin, was straight , not cutting across, so making the shot easy peasy.

Mr. short game, first one here, so therefore I win a new Callaway wedge!!! Thanks I appreciate it and have a good one. Appreciate the video.
Great video and I totally agree on the full face
Did you live back to Southern California and leave north metro Atlanta? If so we will miss you at the various courses and driving ranges. Keep up the good work!
Love the content my guy. Let me get one of those wedges 😂😂😢😢...please lol
Keep up the great work!!!!
Love the palm tree shirt 🌴 what brand is it?
Love the full faced grooves. I use the jaws.
That is nice they have an option with extra weight. I tested the jaws and found them way too light
Love the full toe wedges, not sure why they wouldn't keep them in the line up!
MrSG are you in Cali? That doesn't look like GA. Looks like Carlsbad but can't really tell. Love your stuff. Happy July.
i was wondering the same thing. a lot of player prefer the full groove face
Love my callaway sure out eheh
I would buy the Opus wedge tomorrow if it came in the 64 degree option. Not sure why they stopped making it in that loft. I will have to stay with my Jaws MD5 64 degree. Full shot is money at 75 yards, and great around the greens
What practice facility it this?
They probably will in a few years do full face grooves. Have to have something new to up sell for a new release later.
Is anyone going to mention the grip? What was callaway thinking? I just bought an opus and the grip is a full inch shorter than a standard grip. I had to buy a grip with the new club! I wear an XL glove and my thumb actually hangs off the end of the baby grip they put on the club. So dumb.
The grips I have seen them in have a fantastic feel to them. I didnt notice that it was shorter
I’ve been waiting for them to come out with a wedge with lots of spin. This may be them.
Ya need to tell us the bounce n grind used!!
My preference, I use full face wedges. So these are out for me. I do like idea of the weight at top. Would be nice in a full face to try.
That 56 degree with the tungsten weight really hit the ball on a low trajectory.
Where are you at? That course or facility looks So. Calish.
Gimme a 60 with full face grooves, 6-8 degree of bounce in a raw finished and you got me sold
I play jaws wedges and like them
Cobra was the first using MiM in their King Tour Irons and wedges
What course is this? Thats an awesome short game area
Only the Platinum comes in Platinum Blue. What you have is the regular Opus in Black Shadow. Talk about “One Big Mistake”
As a jaws full face user I won't even consider changing if they're not going to offer it in the Opus
full face on the 56 and 60 minimum is a must at least for my style
I bet they are going to do the full face as they did with the Jaws in the short future
Yeah it will be coming in the next couple months...i got the full face jaws after I bought the reg jaws... the reg have been sitting doing nothing for a year
Vokey’s don’t have a full face. But Callaway will definitely have a full face model come out
Were this standard shafts? Looked like they were graphite
So agree with you, full face wedge would be better
can you do a wedge review of mizuno the craft?
pretty sure cobra had a "MIM" wedge a few years ago
i cant stand the look of full face wedges so if thats the only thing holding it back from being perfect, might have to buy it myself!
Same 😅
MIM is an amazing technology
Need more offerings for lefty to get me to consider leaving Vokeys
Might just add some lead on the trailing edge
Angled micro grooves will get blasted away after about 3 rounds of hitting shots out of sand, rough, hard packed dirt, mud, pine straw, leaves, etc..
Not true. They had these sane groves on the Raw Jaws Full Toe. I had mine for 2 years now.
The full toe grove is coming later
I prefer wedges to have grooves all the way across the face. Just makes sense to me.
Oh it’s coming! You know it….Cally is the marketing champ
Full face would've been nice but no C grind on a 54 is a deal breaker for me.
Full groves on the face are horrible for wedges (for me lol) so I’m definitely replacing my jaws Rawls with this 🔥
Why would you test a wedge with range balls anyways
im currently looking at new wedges, and i won't bag anything that isn't full faced
Cant understand why they will wait with raw...
Marketing 😂
That looks exactly like my Calloway CB wedge…
No it doesnt
@@maness2112🤓
LaCosta ?
Opus? I think of Opie 🤣😂
54-56 10 degrees is lowest bounce offering? WTF?
MG4s literally has the crosses directional grooves too thats not much new
Big brands keep making stuff but it’s not the equipment, it’s the person holding the equipment lol

these look alot like the vice wedges
If the touch shots are so important why are you using range balls?

you are my fav youtuber
thank goodness they didn't do full face grooves
They didn’t do the full face because they’re going to release that six months from now and people are going to buy it, again.
IT’s advertising lol the full grove high toe will come out after everyone buys these first lol
Not impressed by their "more edges" on the face. You counted 17 grooves, Cleveland RTX FULL FACE wedges have 23 grooves. By my way of thinking, more grooves, more edges. Micro grooves are meaningless, IMHO.
So basically Callaway copied TaylorMade MG4 wedges with the micro groves.
MD4 still the best
Can I have one, please? I only own a 58 degree :( need more short game in my life!
You act like MiM technology is something new. Cobra has been doing it for years. I currently play the King MiM tour irons and they’re great. Callaway didn’t come up with anything revolutionary.
Bruh you're miles away from the ball. lift the club up so you get it on the air !

17 grams = .6 ounce
The reason is because they didn't sell full face JAWS wedges enough. Follow the money dude. You are the exception not the rule evidently.
I don't think it's a mistake not extending the grooves. I think it's just a preference thing. I like how it frames the ball when I looking down. I much prefer that over extended grooves.
229.99 😂
"Metal injected".... so they're cast. I'm gunna start calling my vokeys metal injected. It just sounds better
I dont care they are RH only
Dam, I bought Vokeys because they said they had the most grooves. Now I have to come up with another excuse/line of BS to tell my wife so she lets me buy these.🤔
