I love the half-a-handful of smiths on YT that actually forge their swords/knives (etc) without super expensive presses and $$$ power tools! New Sub 👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it!
Both has skills
Congrats!! A real beautiful dagger. I also love hamons, yours turned out great! And the faceted handle is real sleek, I really like it all! Huge like
Thank you Sir! I appreciate it
Nice work! I love the handle material, and how you gave the blade a Hamon, I had no idea that you could get the clay for it! You dagger looks very nice, especially with the stabilized Burl handle!
Thank you so much Oculus!
Really sweet dagger! Love the hamon
Thank you Drew!
Great dagger, Cole! That handle came out amazing! 😍
Thank you Denis! I really appreciate what you and Airin do for the community.
Solid work man! I need to get a leather belt...
Thank you! It is pretty nice!
You are my first video in the build series! What an excellent dagger bro! I love how perfect your lines are. Beautiful handle material and the hamon came out great!
Thank you Airin!
I'm a bit late but this was gorgeous! Nice work mate.
Maaann nice job buddy 👏 👍 👌 blessings
Well done mate, very clean
Thank you Sam!
Wengles/Cole ... a great, simple, step video explaining the build and how details were incorporated. The dagger turned out great ... love how you carried the center apex through and into the handle. Thanks for the share and good luck!
Thanks you for the kind words Byron!
i almost didnt watch because of the hollywood introduction.
turns out you're pretty good at choosing your stabilised wood.
hmm I always wonder if people like the intro or not. thanks for the feedback.
That's some really crispy and clean work mate, whew, finished all the vids
Man thank you for taking the time to watch all of them!
I may have to commission you to make me a combat knife chief! Well done...
Thank you
lol "hamoning clay"
That's definitely a beautiful blade but that Tyrell dude has it going on
He is a beast for sure. Thanks for watching
Prop a stupid question. However, why dont you do all the grinding before hardening the steel? (I've noticed that everyone does it this way)
If the edges are too thin they tend to over heat during the heat treatment. if you leave them thicker it heats up more evenly
@@Wengelsworkshop okey! Thank you so much!
Cole, beautiful piece. Loved this video. What was that tool you were using when scribing lines on the end of the handle block? I’ve never seen that before.
Thank you Adam! it is called a marking gauge. its a woodworkers tool.
That is one sweet dagger! All the parts complement the whole, well done.
Thank you David!
Nice! Done and voted too brother, good luck!
Thank you brother!
How did you get the hamon? You didn't tell us that
lol i did tell you how. but i will tell you again. The clay that was put on before heat treatment prevents part of the blade from hardening. then when you etch the blade in acid it reveals the hamon which is a contrast between where the blade was hardened and where it wasnt.
very true about the fire extinguisher, and be sure to regularly check it's still holding pressure. I keep 2 in my shop, should probably pick up a couple more because I have very bad luck lol.
Awesome, clean work, Cole! The hamon turned out great and was a really nice idea for the dagger!
Thank you Sven!
Чётко. Очень всё аккуратно. Приятно смотреть)👍👍👍

Is this dagger you made for sale? How much can I charge for this purchase? Can it be mailed to China?
Thank you for the interest, but this dagger is already sold
@@Wengelsworkshop Many, but I'm in Africa now, and I'll go back to China later, all inyoutubeCan't be used, can you send a link or give a detailed size?
@@Wengelsworkshop You can give me a detailed size.
I'm sorry, but you misunderstood. The knife is already sold to a friend. Thank you for the interest
Well done mate, very clean
Thank you!
Nice looking knife, very clean lines. Where did you buy the polishing powder? Id like to check some out. Good luck in the competition, I still have like 17 videos to watch before I vote.
Thanks Phillip! its 1500 grit silicon carbide polish. I got some off amazon.
PPE,,, shorts and tenners with no socks,, sure what could go worng
Yeah socks and jeans will save the day 😂
@@Wengelsworkshop Perhaps they will from burns and shards,, but real PPE will save your butt, I do hope you have EMS on speed dial
Eye protection, ear protection, a respirator and fire proof gloves up to my elbows and yet you are still here to talk shit. You must be one of those people that still wears a mask in their car by themselves 😂😂
👍✌
Looks good. You got my vote!
Thanks for taking the time to Vote Larry!
This hamon looks amazing! Every time I watching your videos I feel like this is so easy to you! Knife making is hard! You have very study hands! This handle was a challenge for sure! Nice work Man!
Lol it's not easy. I really should include more mistakes but when I'm pressed for time, taking the extra time to point out all my mistakes usually get push back to least important I suppose. Thank you Dawid I appreciate it.
beautiful work :)
Thank you M V!
That looks great!
Thank you!

Thank you!
Beautiful job!
Thank you Rebel!
Truly beautiful.
Thank you Tony!
Just the dagger nice work.
Man that leather belt is still really cool to me. Great looking knife! Have you ever thought about using a coping saw to connect the holes in your guard?
Thanks and not really, but that's a good idea
This competition has already been a complete success , as I have been introduced some excellent smiths which means more awesome art peices to drool over .

Fantastic dagger - nice pattern on the edge and the handle is amazing!
Thank you Fred!
love the heat treat you did and the handle is sweet good choice on the color

Thanks Don!
عالی
love it, clean and deceptively simple design
Thank you Andy!
How the heck are you getting the angles at 03:05? It turned out great. I like the simple functional design.
haha i didnt know what you meant and then i realized you were talking camera angle. i have the camera between my chest and my hands lol. i get a couple shots and then move it to finish. Thanks for watching!
@@Wengelsworkshop With a GoPro? It's awesome anyway.
Oh my bad it's a camera on a tripod. Not very practical for actual work 😂
@@Wengelsworkshop awesome!
Great job, love that handle!
Thank you Mumod!
you lost at the handle installation. way too loose
Well you should look into it bc some very good knife makers including Kyle Royer would disagree with you. An extremely tight tang fit can cause the handle to split if there is any expansion in the wood. Which even with stabilized wood there will be some movement. Thanks for watching anyways Richard. Take some time to look into this topic and maybe you will learn something.
