What a beauty! I love the handle material, and the way you carved it. Your wire inlay is exceptional. I was initially worried about the styling of the guard, but seeing in 3 dimensions it looks fantastic. I also love the texturing on the brass from the sandblast. This is different and working very well on this dagger.

Amazing build, I really like to see a lot of hand work, which equates to craftsmanship. Your escapade with the wax mould was most likely due to a fire, the wax you made was flammable so that is what likely happened. The one benefit to wax mould is no matter what happens, you will always be able to remove the additional metal, as instead of making your item too small, it always makes it bigger, so all it takes is more elbow grease. your dagger turned out quite nice, I especially love the dark wood with the brass, that is a beautiful combination!

Nice build! It's almost like a cross between He-Man's Power sword from Masters of the Universe & Lion-O's Sword if Omens in dagger form from ThunderCats.
Loved this one. Your handle and the mirror polish on the dagger are the shining stars. The guard looks like it was a ton of work -- I think it would've looked awesome if you'd darkened the bronze. And maybe done a little shaping -- everything else flowed so well. And the guard looked a bit... plain... compared to the rest. Either way, subbed, and that dagger was a stunner.
Thanks a lot for kind words, man! Guard indeed was the biggest challenge- mostly because of the casting. I wanted to braze a ring to the guard, but it would be too much- sometimes less it better. I like the idea of bluing/darkening the bronze.. there is a chance I will make 2.0 version with Damascus blade and engraving on the guard.. Darkening the brass would be consistent to double contrast damascus- I like the idea! Thanks a lot for suggestion!
@@DBCraftWorld my pleasure! And like… I’m no expert - in any way lol! I just saw it and thought “oh! Darken that and give it a rough texture! Or polish it to super shiny” something about that sand blasted finish left it feeling a little like… idk. I don’t want to say incomplete bc I loved the build! But it left me wanting a bit more for the guard. I think your idea of Damascus on this one would be incredible; especially w a darkened brass guard!
@@hunt_trap_fish there is always voice in my head that say "Dude, why you didn't made it a little bit differently- it would looks much better" lol.. so I think there will be Maleficent dagger 2.0 (with damascus AND darkened brass :) ). Again, thanks Man! btw: whats your name?
haha! This is very cool shirt :P. Thanks a lot for watching and kind words! This dagger was definitely close to my limits, but over all, is it not the point :P ?
I had to come watch the video after seeing you being accused of trying to pass off a render as a real blade. That’s the highest praise! Honestly tho long sleeves around your lathe is scary
Hey Man! "That’s the highest praise!" - I think the same:). It makes you feel appreciated (lol). Yeap- I've noticed sleeves on the video- it was very careless (and thank you for your pointing that!) especially I know what it could couse. Thanks a lot for the support:)
If I wanted to make my own dagger (which i do) would i have to be a proper blacksmith to be able to make one or is it possible to make one (that is actually good) without having to become a blacksmith? Cause i wanna make one, but i dont wanna be a blacksmith?
Well made knife require skills and knowledge, but if you want to try yourself and make only one blade, you can send it, to someone how heat treat it for you. Daggers are hard to make because of symmetry on the blade (you need to grind 4 bevels instead of 2). You don't need to be blacksmith or bladesmith to make knives. Many knife makers make "stock removal" knives- they cut them from bars.

I would be careful about publicly naming something for a Disney character, of movie. They have sued daycare centers for painting characters on their walls instead of buy licensed decals.
Hey Leigh! Please correct me if I'm wrong, but "maleficent" have normal meaning (the same as car, color or pet). it's mean: causing harm or destruction, right? I know Disney is super sensitive to copyrights and I'm not going to critique it (I'm too), but I think I can use this word- it's not reserve only to them.. Still thank you so much for pointing that and your concern- I appreciate it a lot! Hope you have a great day, -David
There is many impractical things in this dagger- Brass is heavy so the knife is heavy and not well balanced, However it's more "art dagger" so I think impractically can be forgiven. But hey, Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it:)! -David

This is a beautiful piece,I do wish you would’ve shown assembling the handle.
Thank you Johnny (for watching and for kind words)! You mean the wiring or the process of pull all handle parts together?
Putting the handle parts together.
Hermoso diseño una obra de arte. Felicitaciones campeón..!! 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Hey Ariel! Thank you! I've design this dagger very long, so I'm very happy you like it! All the best for you ;) -David
I admire your file work bro!
Thanks Matt! It was a loooong journey, but I believe reached the gold :).
Master work congratulations friend, amazing really.
Thank you Claudio! It was one of the most advanced project I've ever done! Thank you for the support:)!
Idk how or why I did not come across your channel before but I'm glad I did!!! Absolutely beautiful work!!
Have you thought about doing sand casting instead of the way you did it?
I'm sorry for not responding for so long B (Bob? Ben? What is your name mate?). Thanks a lot for very kind words! I wanted to try lost wax method, Cause my first attempt with sand didn't went well.. In general, I need to improve casting- I suck on both ways (lol).
Thanks for the support!
Beautiful dagger
Thank you!
Going out of your comfort zone takes some courage. Great build!
Thanks a lot Rodger! Yes, I'm a metallurgist noob, but it was the only way to make brass guard that big. I've learned a lot and it gave me a huge amount of priceless knowledge. I definitely try lost wax casting again!
awesome dagger i love mirror polish
Thank you Vladimir. I'm very happy you like it. Thanks for watching! -David
Holly molly! That's some time consumption! I love that you included casting in the video. It's something that I'd like to eventually try out. I need to get my hands on the raspy needle files. Do you recall where you got them? You've created a beautiful piece!
Thanks a lot Man! Yeap, hole month of work, but I think it was worth the effort! Metal casting is hard- especially lost wax casting. But over it was a great experience and I'm glad I've tried.

Nice build! It's almost like a cross between He-Man's Power sword from Masters of the Universe & Lion-O's Sword if Omens in dagger form from ThunderCats.
Thanks a lot Matt! Yes, indeed- I wasn't inspired by He-Man but I agree- it's got He-Man's vibe :). Thanks a lot for watching Mate👊!
@@DBCraftWorld and seriously; every project I do. “Oh man - what if I’d done xyz instead?! Dangit!”
@@hunt_trap_fish hahaha, I know that more than you think :)
That's awesome. Your a great craftsman. I like your freakshow shirt also.
haha! This is very cool shirt :P. Thanks a lot for watching and kind words! This dagger was definitely close to my limits, but over all, is it not the point :P ?
really nice dagger

i can't imagine how it looks like until the end of this video, what a amazing.....😱😱,,,, good work

Thank you Mate! Appreciate your kind words! And thanks a lot for the sub- This means a lot to me! -David
Made it to the end! Have a great day Buddy!
Thanks Matt! You too.. Now I'm waiting for the all Viewer daggers :)!
Perfect top show beautiful
Thank you very much!
Many knife makers make "stock removal" knives- they cut them from bars.

i am wondering who is going to win.. i love the blade and that guard is insane but i thank its going to be a bit hard as a stock removal blade but still nice
Yes, all what you said is truth- I agree that forged blades are more complex, but that is why I decided to make pretty complicated blade shape. I hope it makes the video a little more interesting and hopfully the dagger as well :). Thanks for checking my video and support Douglas! Hope you have a great day! -David
sorry i couldnt vote for your dagger but it was a hard choice i loved the look it just looked a little bulky and to me a dagger is sleek and stealthy
It's totally fine:)! This challenge is friendly competition - is just a game/play. The real win is when the audience from other channels discover this smaller-more invisible to YT algorithms. I really appreciate your kind words- If you like this project consider checking my previous build (forging bowie knife, elven sword, balisong knife:) - they might interested you). And thank you for all your support:)!

Looks hemans power sword awesome
Thanks Mate! Many people have the same feeling and there is something in it:)! -Regards, David
What I can say besides that not polishing casted parts seem to not fit the rest of smooth and polished dagger? Besides that its a great blade.
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts Mario! I did't want to make all parts mirror finish- I believe it would be too glossy, but this is only my opinion (same as yours :) ). Thanks for kind words and watching! -David
Is that leaf spring steel?
yes, 5160.
How does an adult male know what a maleficient is, let alone whether the character had a dagger?
Harikasın dostum tam bir sanatkarsın👍👌👌
Oh, Thank you very much! Appreciate your kind words!
-Best regards, David

Rad dagger!
Thanks Nicholas!
👍
Thanks Don!
looks super impractical to me. the guard covers the blade too much.
There is many impractical things in this dagger- Brass is heavy so the knife is heavy and not well balanced, However it's more "art dagger" so I think impractically can be forgiven. But hey, Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it:)!
