    Hi, Brought the sub from usa to india. After listening i learnt how a good subwoofer behaves. 1) Clean Bass 2) Blending with Front speakers 3) Tight and Punchier sound. Replaced my polk psw 125. Major difference with this sub.

    • @krane15
      @krane15 4 года назад

      Keep in m ins that this also includes you media. Tight and punchy refers to music. Hollywood is totally different with their artificially enhanced special effect low frequencies for movies. In that case, creating boomy bass is what they do best.

    Is there a delay when using wireless?
    Choosing between this or svs (leaning towards SB as it is smaller even though i mainly watch movies)

    • @Garysmusic1964
      @Garysmusic1964 3 года назад

      Suppose to be 20ms, or basically 1/50th of a second delay.

    $400 Rsl speedwoofer or $450 svs pb-1000 from svs outlet store? Mostly for music..

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад +2

      I haven't listened to the pb1000 but I did try the Pb2000. The RSL sounds great playing music so I'd choose that over the pb1000.

      Home Theater Hobbyist hmm what about the monolith 10 for $100 more than the rsl? I do listen to some bass heavy music that does get low.

      Please do! Would be a good comparison since you have experience with a few subs above and below that price range.

    • @spingarn

      I have both. For music get the Speedwoofer. No question. It just sounds better....tighter, punchier bass. The PB1000 plays lower and louder below 30hz, but below 30hz is not nearly as important as everything above it...for music. HT is another story....

    Excellent review and video. I am eagerly awaiting the RSL 10s to clean up the bass as I already have one subwoofer want something much cleaner, and I believe that this speedwoofer is exactly what the doctor ordered. You can have all the bass in the word but if it isn't controlled well, you won't here anything else.

    I see you now have the HSU VTF-2 mk5. How do these compare? Looking to get a pair or either or and HSU pair is a little more than I want to spend. I know the 10s mkii has 400w now too etc.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  2 года назад +1

      The Hsu plays deeper with more “weight” to the sound than the previous speedwoofer. I haven’t heard the newest so I can’t speak to it.

    • @epg2501
      @epg2501 2 года назад

      @@HomeTheaterHobbyist Ordered a pair of the VTF-2 mk5’s. I looked at the VTF-3 but too tall (will hit my screen) and over my budget for a pair. Hopefully these will be a vast upgrade for both movies and music over my previous JBL ES250 subs pair (and hopefully the better/upgraded choice for music over the RSL’s with enough punch and speed).

    I have a question as I also saw you SVS v. HUS review. I have RSL speakers and I have both the original Speedwoofer 10 and the newer 10s. I installed speakers in my downstairs family room for music and HT. I was wondering based on your 2 reviews ( even though you did not test 2 RSL's ) … Thoughts on 1 HSU vs 2 RSL's … all in all about the same $, unless the HSU is on sale ? Thanks.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      This is a tough question for me because I like the deep bass from the hsu but I chooses dual RSLs. The bass response is great just not as deep and it will yield more even bass across multiple seats when setup reasonably well. Hopefully this helps!

    Is it possible to connect 2 or 4 subs to that transmitter?

    • @krane15
      @krane15 4 года назад

      The wireless transmitter on my speedlight can trigger a dozen lights scattered across a space. I'm guessing that same principle applies here as long as they're within range.

    Hello Home Theatre Hobbyist. I just wanted to say thanks for the review. there are not many people who seem to know that much about RSL and even their website doesn't say much. I pretty much agree with all of your ratings in regards to the design and style and value. Good luck to you.

    Thank you for your honest reviews and feedback regarding this sub. I have pulled the trigger and purchased this today, primarily based on your review. Looking forward to my first experience with a non-bundled, non-soundbar subwoofer. This will be paired with a set of Elac UB5s, and a IOTAVX SA3 Integrated Amplifier.

      It finally did show up and I am enjoying it! I really wish there was a guide to setting it up. The variable phase setting is a little tricky to set up, by ear. So far, I am hearing very accurate and tight low end.

    So I’m assuming you’re sending the sub back? It can’t hang with the Hsu as it’s just s bigger better sub. It’s fine for a small room for under $400.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      I agree with your assessment and yes I’ll be sending it back.
      What area your thoughts on the svs pb1000? How does it compare to the speedwoofer 10s?

    • @FalconsATL
      @FalconsATL 6 лет назад

      Home Theater Hobbyist Musically, in that 40-70hz range I’d say the Speedwoofer is better (or has more punch). I liked the PB-1000 better overall and especially for lower bass and LFE in movies.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the info you should do a video on that. A few folks have been asking about a comparison between the PB1000 and the Speedwoofer 10s.

    You have another review of the HSU VTF2 Mk5 - is the HSU your main sub or are you now using the RSL? You compared the HSU to the SVS PB2000 and kept the HSU. It seems the HSU would be a much more stronger sub than the RSL.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      Hsu is better low end than the Rsl. I’m still running the Hsu, no complaints. The Rsl had great mid range but the bottom end does lack a little.

  • @DennisBassey
    @DennisBassey 6 лет назад

    Thanks for the great review. How does this compare to the HSU VTF-1 MK3 and the SVS PB1000? Which of the 3 would you recommend with Klipsch RP-160?

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      Unfortunatly I haven't reviewed that HSU or that SVS but I have reviewed the larger PB2000 (ruclips.net/video/G0yjD5OuAzs/видео.html) and I own the VTF-2 MK5 (ruclips.net/video/ALKCOUHOXHg/видео.html). In my experience both companies are very honest with regards to their specs, so from a frequency response standpoint the SVS PB1000 will go lower (than the Speedwoofer 10s) and you'll be able to feel it in your chest more. The HSU freq. response looks pretty comparable (to the Speedwoofer 10s) but HSU does give you the ability to tune the sub with the Q control (damping) and port tuning so you'll be able to tailor it a bit more to your liking. Now I've said all that....... if you want something you can put in your room and will play deep go with the PB1000. If you want something you can tune to your liking go with the HSU. Hope this helps, reply to this thread and let me know what you decided and how you like it.

      Home Theater Hobbyist I'm leaning more towards the SVS PB1000. Hoping to get 1 soon then add a second one later. Will let you know how it preforms. Thanks and keep up the good work.

    What do you think of the monoprice monolith 10 inch sub. I was gonna go for this rsl speed woofer but I think my extra $100 will be justified with the monoprice. What do you think?

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      I haven't tried the monoprice sub but it's not a bad idea to get one in. The specs show a larger amp with a fairly similar frequency response (monoprice 28Hz vs. Rsl 24Hz). Honestly I don't know, it's hard for me to imagine the monoprice is better than the RSL. Why do you think the additional $100 is worth it?

    • @NickDarnelldaftnick

    Hi, nice and very impressive review. I am from India. I want to carry a sub to india either this RSL 400$ or hsu vtf 1 mk3 399$ + shipping (the smaller version of the vtf 2 mk5). Which will you suggest me? I am leaning towards hsu vtf1 mk3 because I use an higher crossover 120hz. And hsu will do well up to 300hz crossover which is mentioned in audioholics review. Thanks in advance

    I couldn't help but notice the LFE input was listed under home theater setting. Thing is, that's not always the best setting when listening to music. My question is, does that single port get ALL of the low frequencies with any media, or is that just reserved for the special effects lows included on home theater media?
    One more thing, since you had the transmitter, why didn't you rate the wireless adapter reception? Also, the box is butt ugly. I give it a 1. That said, I don't believe in displaying my SW anyway. I like it out of the way and preferably hidden. As far as my guest/family is concerned. I just have a phenomenal set of satellite speakers.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  4 года назад

      LFE will work regardless of media. It depends on where the subwoofer crossover is set.

    Great channel! Right now I'm looking for something as part of a desk setup for music. Max budget is $500 shipped, and the overall size can't really be any larger than this RSL. Also needing the speaker level inputs. I'm looking at this vs the sealed SB1000...similar size/price/connectivity. Any comments or other suggestions/input appreciated!

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      Unfortunately I haven’t listened to the Sb1000 but the 10s is really impressive with music. So I recommend the 10s. You said your budget is fixed but if you can manage to try them both in your room that is the best advice I can give. Both companies have excellent return policies (free shipping to and from your home). Svs offers a 45 day trial while RSL is 30 but if you can try them both!That’s the best advice I can give. Also respond to this thread and let me know your decision and thoughts if you try both.

    • @spingarn
      @spingarn 6 лет назад +1

      Got the 10s delivered 2 days ago. I already have the SVS SB-12NSD, so I can give a comparison between those. The output of the 10s is pretty much greater at all frequencies down to 20 hz. Has a larger cabinet than the sealed SVS, so that's the tradeoff. Very punchy especially for a ported design. *Almost* as musical as the sealed SVS. At the price, it's a no-brainer. Would certainly outperform the $500 SB1000, which is a lesser sub than the SB-12NSD. I think you'd need to step up to the SB2000 for similar sound, but at $700, you're paying an extra $300 for effectively a smaller footprint. Biggest reason to get the pricier SVS subs would be the smaller form factor. Other than that, the 10s wins all day. Side note, ordered a PB-1000 yesterday for $349 during SVS's outlet sale. Expecting a close call between the two, but expecting the PB-1000 to come out ahead since it's leveraging a much larger cabinet design...

    • @spingarn
      @spingarn 6 лет назад

      In case anyone's wondering, I got the PB1000 yesterday. Direct comparison to the Speedwoofer is that it plays lower/louder but with less punch/impact. I think for home theather LFE ,the PB1000 is better. However for music I much prefer the Speedwoofer, it just plays tighter, cleaner bass.

    • @feller21ify
      @feller21ify 5 лет назад

      You can have 10 of them, it won't matter.. if the sub only goes down to 22HZ, all ten will get down to 22HZ. Akin to a musical instrument, if that instrument only goes so high, or so low in frequency, it won't matter if there are 100 of them, those frequencies will never be achieved. SPL or sound pressure level is a different story. There is a model out there that explains the way you measure it, say 3 - 8"'s is equal to 2 12's? Not so fast. 2 12's actually have more to offer than 3 8's etcetera

    I for the newest edition of this sub. Kind of disappointing. First, the wireless interfered with my Control 4 remote. No idea why. My gear closet is about 25’ from the sub, and the Integra setup didn’t recognize it when I ran it wireless. I had to go back with the cable that I used with my old M&K V125. At just 125w, the M&K has noticeably more output. I ran the setup several times and tried different tweaks and placement, but I still don’t get the output I was hoping for, even with the volume above 3/4. I wasn’t expecting 20hz bass, but it doesn’t dip down nearly as low as I think it should. I am open to suggestions if anyone has ideas. Maybe I can figure it out, but at this point I am disappointed with this purchase.

    Good overall review, but you continue to use a poor mic for sound samples. The Emotiva BasX S12 for $400 is a superior sub to the Speedwoofer 10s. 10s has very little output below 30Hz and $400 is a pretty steep price for a sub with that limited amount of range.

    • @HomeTheaterHobbyist
      @HomeTheaterHobbyist  6 лет назад

      I purchased another mic and completed a few trials. It sounds better, so the sound samples should be better in the future. Do you have the S12 in your system? What sub(s) are you running? What are your favorites?

      Brent Butterworth compared the two: www.soundstageaccess.com/index.php/equipment-reviews/812-emotiva-basx-s12-subwoofer
      "Asking which of these two subs is better is like asking which is the better color, red or blue. The BasX S12 did have more output in the deepest bass frequencies, but it tended to exaggerate that output somewhat. I could generalize that the Speedwoofer 10S might be a better choice for an audiophile two-channel system, while the BasX S12 might be a better choice for a home theater, but your tastes might lead you to a different conclusion."
