I have one and am a very satisfied customer. It seemlessly integrates with my Elac f6.2 towers which frankly need a little help in the bass response department. Its small footprint and front-firing port make for more placement options. My wife appreciates that I can hide it without compromising its effectiveness. This is before you even mention the price. This subwoofer is easily the best bang for buck sub out there.
I owned RSL speakers back in the 70s, from their store in Van Nuys. They've always been good folks, and they designed some excellent speakers. I look forward to hearing their latest designs.
03:48 I think on the video at 20hz it's supposed to read 101.5 not 111.5, which makes sense that -9db would be 92.5 as shown on your 2 meter adjustment.
@@docwho10th88 I like rsl speedwoofer for overall use. It can go deep if you account it has 10 inch. Very good with movies, and excellent with music. It's fast and hit hard. I also have a monolith THX from monoprice 10 inch sub. It can better handle the lowest notes around 25-20 hz so it is better for some movies. So (comparing these specific two models) monolith for only movies, and speedwoofer for everything else, including mixed usage.
@@zombielandiii2711 Thanks for the help! I just sold my HSU 15 H that I had for 14 years and was curious about going dual...just to give it a try. My old HSU 15 had both awesome midbass tactile punch and dug deep for movies. It was also awesome for bass playing on overall music.... perfect 50/60 sub. The only con was that it a LARGE lol. But there is no way I can get that foundation shaking bass with 2 smaller subs. I think I will just get the newer HSU 15 MK2 with the 600 watt amp instead. My old 15 was only 300 watts. The speed woofer seems it would make a great "mid bass module" for both music and HT. The 15 though already has both in spades. Thanks again! Btw, I would recommend HSU over SVS subs when it comes 50/50 listening. The SVS is great for movies but when it comes to movies it feels "dead" in that it can reproduce "individual string bass plucking" and you can't hear the different bass notes. But it does dig deep for movies. The Hsu is like the sub is "ALIVE" and you can hear tons of articulate mid bass notes coming out of it! Since you have a 10 inch. I would recommend this...www.soundandvision.com/content/hsu-research-vtf-15h-mk2-and-vtf-3-mk5-hp-subwoofer-reviews it's one of those things in life that make you say "how on earth did I live without this!" lol. It's is very close to the 15MK2 but with a smaller box. HSU subs change your world! How can you miss what you never had until...you had it? ha ha..
Hi, i use an higher crossover of 120hz on my 50wattage receiver. My speakers are pioneer sp fs 52, pioneer bs 22 and c22. Among this RSL 10s and HSU vtf1 mk3. which sub you recommend for my setup 2500 cubic feet living room. 50% movies and 50% music.. I was fixed to hsu coz in audioholics review it was mentioned that the sub can be crossed up to 300hz.. Thanks in advance
At 03:46, the 20Hz value appears to be a typo. Your 2-meter average for 20 - 32Hz shown in the video description doesn't calculate correctly unless you subtract 10dB from the 20Hz value. Besides, subwoofers don't roll off then suddenly get stronger at infrasonics. But it's a useful video otherwise. Thanks!
Me Two suhs are the way to go Sean at Zero fidelity , gave me that info about 4yrs ago. I'm running two tens now quite not on that level yet. But YEAH 🔉🔉🔉
Would this be a good sub to go along with my REL? I'm looking for more movie impact! With the wireless configuration, I can see putting it in the back part of the room or even the side.
I was looking for this kind of review without any success, and finally ordered the trusted svs pb1000 the same day this review came out. Good to see it could be a good choice as well.
Great review Marshall. If you buy two subwoofers, do you have to buy two transmitters? Do you run subwoofers as a stereo pair (L on one sub, R on the other), or are they both run with the same summed L&R signal?
Links to a store or RUclips Videos? RUclips videos can get pulled down from time to time, so I'd just recommend doing a search for "Be Brave My Brightest Diamond" and "Hyperballad Bjork" to hear/buy. My preferred format is CD, but Amazon has great prices no MP3, and High Res folks might want to check out HDTracks.
I found a refurb Denon X4400H for $700. This has 9 125 wpc amps and also the ability to be used as a Preamp. Small room 5.1.2. I had 7 and the extra surrounds don’t add much. Better to upgrade the fronts and center if you’re on a budget. Don’t be afraid of refurb items. I have a Yamaha stereo amp....the new price for both was almost 3K. I paid 1100 for both.
Hsu Research publishes CEA-2010 data for the VTF-1 MK2 on their website in 1-meter peak values. To get 2-meter RMS values, subtract 9dB. At 20Hz, Speedwoofer 10s = 92.5dB. VTF-1 MK2 = 85.9dB (one-port open). If I were limited to choose only between those two subs,, I'd probably be inclined to audition the Speedwoofer 10s before the VTF-1. However, the Hsu VTF-2 MK4 would offer much stiffer competition, and only costs $40 more than the VTF-1. An additional 14dB of output at 20Hz is a profound improvement, well worth the extra $40 unless you've got placement constraints that make the VTF-2 too large to fit.
i don't believe that Bluetooth is as accurate and fast as direct cable hook up...Bluetooth fails off and on and if WiFi signals are bad your signals are weak then that sub is going to skip beats and losse direct signal than your cables ...overall cables are best for hi fi and surround sound
Well there's a mistake made. This subwoofer doesn't deliver over 60% more output at 20Hz than at 25Hz. That's laughable and something you guys should have caught immediately. Also showing more output at 20hz than at 31.5Hz. Come on, guys.

Broxine There is NO loss of quality doing wireless as long as the signal doesn't drop out. Bass frequencies are very easy to transmit wirelessly especially since the sampling rate is MUCH higher than the crossover pt of the subwoofer BW. The only concern with wireless is the slight added group delay which can be adjusted out with the AV receiver's distance setting for the subwoofer channel to get proper integration with the main speakers at the crossover pt.

What is better this or the SVS SB 1000?
For Music, different rooms,..?
I think many choices will come down to this.
So what is it?
FreeD00M I would like to know the same answer. Looking at both for a med size room.
I can recommend this sub. I like it better than my monolith 10.
How is it for music and does it dig deep for movies? Thanks!

rsl 10S vs svs sb1000? your opinion please
Thanks Marshall great review from you as usual cheers .
When can we expect a review for the new Speedwoofer 10s MkII?
Hi Marshall, good review! Is this comparable to sb1000 of svs though this is 50 watts more? Thanks!
Anybody have any opinion on this vs. the SVS SB-12 for the same $399 price?
wondering the same...
This Vs SVS SB1000 or SB2000?
Raghav Baijal sb 1000
What would you recommend?? One svs pb2000 or two rsl speedwoofer 10s in a small to medium size room????
Looks like a Peerless driver possibly close to the SVS 10" driver.

Can you advise if the wireless dongle supports two subs, or do I need two dongles or am I expected to daisy chain the second sub?
I always think it says REO Speedwagon.
How many subs can be paired to that transmitter?
I was looking for this kind of review without any success, and finally ordered the trusted svs pb1000 the same day this review came out. Good to see it could be a good choice as well.
would this be closer to the SB/PB 1000 or the SB/PB 2000? Also, would one 10s do well in a 20x10x8 room? thx
This Speedwoofer 10S would be closer to the Bic Pl-200. This won't compete with the PB-1000 and certainly not the PB-2000.
Sounds interesting! How about this vs the SVS SB1000?
The SB1000 is a great little sub but the RSL 10s is more competitive with the PB1000 due to it's larger ported box.
So how does it compare to the PB 1000?
Not so. The PB-1000 will have more output and dig down to the upper teens. Both the SB-1000 and RSL 10S are rated down to 24Hz +/- 3dB.
Would it be better to get double 10s or one svs pb 2000
Does the wireless transmitter use any standard? (i.e WISA)?
Wi-Fi, 2.4GHz
can you run mutliple subs with one wireless transmitter?
Plus, if you decide to go wireless, you can daisy chain the subs so you only need one transmitter! from the web ad.
It is almost 5 years later. Is the Speedwoofer 10 still worth it?
Assuming the prices have held, and you still care about getting a fairly compact vented 10 inch sub... yes.
Great review Marshall. If you buy two subwoofers, do you have to buy two transmitters? Do you run subwoofers as a stereo pair (L on one sub, R on the other), or are they both run with the same summed L&R signal?
Yes, you'll need 2 transmitters, summed signal..
59seank is best to run the diagonally one at the front and one at the back and only by one transmitter and wire the other one
The RSL website says 2 subs can be paired to one transmitter
I’m running this RSL sub with a Monolith V2 10” THX sub. 😎👍.

Can you please put links to the songs you mentioned in the video. thanks

ok, its the inevitable question, can it take the SVS PB-1000?
Very similar, would be an interesting shootout.
PB-1000 digs a bit deeper, I believe.
Joseph Pitts the PB-1000 has a -3db point at 19hz.
PB-1000 would blow this 10S out of the water. It would be crazy to not get the PB-1000 over the 10S.
Can i get this sub in aus ?
what is the name of the second album you mentioned? My bright diamond did justice to my sound system i need more artist like that.
Bjork Hyperballad from Post. The dream of the 90s is alive.
RSL = Rogers Sound Labs??
Same logo so it probably is Roger Sound Labs.
Hmmm I recall their store in Huntington Beach/Westminster CA back in the day... No idea they are back in business
+Brian Froeber On their contact page, it says they're a division of Rogersound Labs.
I thought Rogers Sound Labs went out of business years ago... Maybe its not the same company but same name?

It's too bad there isn't a 12v trigger, even for a little more money. I've never found auto sensing power to work well.
Odd comparison, but can anyone hypothesize, 2x PC-2000 Pro's vs 4 of these, medium room?
I miss Marshall. Gene is very knowledgeable but I find Marshal to be a better presenter and public face.
Can't we just grow up and stop the likes of $399 and say $400.
But then what would the marketing people do all day?
👍

Bluetooth and wifi are totally different standards. The application here is near-field in the same room not across the house.
Posted test results aren't correct at 20Hz. This sub has some really bad THD numbers. SVS PB-1000 blows this sub out of the water in all aspects.

the whole wireless thing is dumb, only adds an extra 50 bucks to the price, real audio fans will prefer cabled connection, always.
Adds $50 if you buy the adapter. Audiophiles that can't route a cable would appreciate that option over no sub at all.
