I bought my Denon 3800 and HTS-12 Subwoofer thanks to your recommendations! I’m glad I found the Audioholics channel it’s very educational and informative for me!
I own 2 of the original RSL Speedwoofers (on original recommendation & review by Audioholics) and they hit hard and low. 2 subs for $800! Can't be beat and a very impressive value for quality and performance.
I love my old BCI PL200 subwoofer. For the price I paid back in the day it's been exceptional and I couldn't be happier with it. I think it was actually an old Audioholics video that put me onto BIC/Acoustech to begin with & after looking around I took a shot...
This is the review/video we've been waiting for! James' approach to reporting the characteristics of speaker products is perfeclty suited for this format. The chart and graph along with commentary were excellent! This needs to be a reoccurring comparison. I'd recommend Rhythmik, REL and SVS subs be included in the next roundup. Thumbs up. Thank you so much!
James your mic rocks compared to the old phone headset style. The old one was pretty scratchy and hard to understand sometimes not being rude just the new one now is sooo much better 👌
So glad that Gene has upgraded his Mic from a couple of years ago. Sounds much more natural than past reviews. Know this has been improved for a while, but thought it os worth noting. Apprciate the review and comparison of the $500 cat of subs.
I found out a week or two ago that the Klipsch SPL-120 (300W) was being discontinued and found it at B&H. They had it on sale for $449 ($400 off) , but they had one used example for $358.95. I couldn't pass it up. It's replacing my 65W Polk 10" sub that was part of a satellite system I bought about 15 yrs ago. I like the fact that the crossover is adjustable (but honestly I don't know if it's neutralized or not by using Audessey on my Denon AVR-X4700H. I'm using it with my RP-600Mii L/R mains, R-34C center and old Polk surrounds for a 7.1 system.
Nice comparison, even in Jan 2024. I had not considered the RSL and will now give them a good look over. I like its small size and ability to extend up to 150 Hz... may help future-proof my Atmos height channel speakers that only reach down to ~120 Hz. I know there is not much low-end content in those channels yet, but may be down the road. Who knows. They also have a ton of back-side features like dialed phase control, line out and speaker level inputs the others seem to lack. Nice package for $450, although they are sold out right now.
When stepping up from a Polk HTS12 - 200W / 22-180 Hz (USD 510) to the XTZ 12.17 Edge - 800W / 19-160 Hz (USD 900), what kind of tangible difference can I expect? Given that It's 4 times the wattage, double the price, and can go slightly lower by 2db.
A lot of us buy 2 subs. We usually buy 2 of the same subs. Would it be better to buy a smaller and larger sub to cover deep and higher bass and cover uneven living rooms? I have 4 Klipsch KLF-10’s for towers, a Klipsch center (with 4 woofers), 4 Pioneer Atmos speakers 🔊. My 2 subs are Velodyne 12’s. I’m unhappy with the Velodyne’s because they hardly ever turn on. The Velodyne’s don’t have an on/off switch. Just auto. Even when they do come on I feel like the KLF-10’s with 2 10’s in each tower are doing a better job. It didn’t matter where I set the crossover. I just looked and only see the Pro models for $600. You can get a non pro in the outlet. Maybe that’s why they didn’t include it? Edit: I did a search instead of using the menus and found it available “for a limited time.”
How do you think these compare to the new best sonos sub (the large gen 3 one for $799)? I just got that one and I've literally never heard bass that loud and crystal clear and expansive in a house before outside of a large home theater! It blows me away when I turn the sub eq all the way up. Shakes the whole neighborhood and the bass clarity is better than JL audio subs in the car haha
The answer is Rythmic servo. I want the L12 if the economy stays afloat. Edit: the video needs to be "the best subwoofer under $630" Just save more for it
The bass is the most misunderstood and abused segment of audio. When I hear a Boom boom boom sound coming from outside of a house, or a low rider car, I know their subwoofers are not set up right.
My country cheapest svs around 865$ to around 3900$ 😂 🤣 I'm not touching those I'm happy whit my 18" subs at 1000w so they can keep up whit my 1000w speaker 😜 do have 2 small 12" subs but they can't keep up whit it🤣😔😅
BIC is having such double standards in India..Here they r offering just 6months warranty and owners have complained, their amps r prone to failure, earlier it was 2 yrs. All this 5yrs crap is only for US. Am sure they r doing some cost cutting in amp plates for asian countries
You know I need to say something here when it comes to subwoofers 90% of them never go below 40 HZ.. so why you spend more than about 250 bucks for $250 you have choices which means you can buy two for 500 bucks delivered for free and one of those choices is Rockville. They are pretty damn good and they're very good for what they are save some money put your money into a better AVR or better floor standing speakers subwoofers only do three things they create rumbling sound connected with movies and even music.. the virtually no good at reproducing sound levels above 200 HZ because that's what reproducing low end vibrations under usually about $150 hurts all the way down to about 30 HZ. You really don't need to spend a fortune for subwoofers because they're pretty much straightforward they produce low vibrations enough so that your music sounds more present in the movies sound more in your face,. Sobe stingy with your Subway for money be very careful how you spend your hard-earned dollaron subwoofers so that you may be able to afford two of them rather than one or even four of them rather than two because the more subwoofers you have the better your sound is in a room and that's the truth
And I’m sure Polk is in the same boat or even worse. I had horrible experiences with the psw505 along with many others. I wouldn’t trust Polk unless you’re into their high end gear.
Gene/James: 2 10" RSLs or 1 SVS PB-1000 or Monolith 10"??.....I would rather have 2 subs than 1 with more output....room is 1850 feet cubed with an opening to another room thats 1300 feet cubed.

@@level80888 cheapaudioman has literally said the SB-1000 is the best subwoofer for under $500. He has a video titled that.
I know! How can you have a subwoofer shootout without a SVS?
With its absence, I honestly don't know what to make of this review.
I just looked and only see the Pro models for $600. You can get a non pro in the outlet. Maybe that’s why they didn’t include it?
Edit: I did a search instead of using the menus and found it available “for a limited time.”
Because svs isn’t that good. It’s just not.

EMOTIVA BASX MR1 Review please
@@joanfrederick9176 it just came out and has 1 review I would really like to how Emotivas first receiver holds up
How do you think these compare to the new best sonos sub (the large gen 3 one for $799)? I just got that one and I've literally never heard bass that loud and crystal clear and expansive in a house before outside of a large home theater! It blows me away when I turn the sub eq all the way up. Shakes the whole neighborhood and the bass clarity is better than JL audio subs in the car haha
I get two rel 12” HTv1 for 450$ apiece
So 2 klipsch r120 for $500 is a great deal? Hell yea
If i want to Spend 2k on Subs... do i do 4 $500 subs... 2 1k subs or 1 2k sub..
4 10's 3 12's 2 15's or 1 18?
The answer is Rythmic servo. I want the L12 if the economy stays afloat. Edit: the video needs to be "the best subwoofer under $630" Just save more for it
I personally think all subs sound better at 60hz and lower crossover
Klipsch has a better 12" sub you should have used that is under $500
R-112sw 300w RMS front bottom port.
SVS PB2000 and SB2000 are both about $500. I have both. Great for the price. 550 watts.
Mike, where did you ever see them around that price?
@@mrbill21 they are the non pro versions and he's probably looking at them used
@@demonreturns4336 Thanks man!
That must have been a good dream, lol. The one 1,000's hit that point
The bass is the most misunderstood and abused segment of audio. When I hear a Boom boom boom sound coming from outside of a house, or a low rider car, I know their subwoofers are not set up right.

“Musical sub” heard it all!
>I promise you sounds much better on THC_!
Nowadays I think the rsl speedwoofer 10e buries that klipsch permanently

Looking forward to review of Dayton sub-1500, then you’ll know what a lot of people already know.
Why is this channel so popular in India lol. Do you all just pump Baliwood in your homes all day?
@@bryanguest2807 Audiohilics is very popular among audiophiles here for their measurements and knowledgeable unbiased reviewers
Weird that these are all American. Try reviewing some stuff from elsewhere.
Not to worry, they are all manufactured in China or elsewhere in Asia.
Also, if a company is from overseas the cost tends to be higher... Over $500
Klipsch BASH amps have a very high failure rate (historically speaking). I'd avoid them bass'd on that alone.
And I’m sure Polk is in the same boat or even worse. I had horrible experiences with the psw505 along with many others. I wouldn’t trust Polk unless you’re into their high end gear.
I heard they’re using new d amps now
SVS SB 2000 👍

Gene/James: 2 10" RSLs or 1 SVS PB-1000 or Monolith 10"??.....I would rather have 2 subs than 1 with more output....room is 1850 feet cubed with an opening to another room thats 1300 feet cubed.
at that kinda space you've gotta start looking at least 15 to 18 inch ported subs
