There weren't enough songs that featured two or more vocalists per song. It's unbelievably unique in rock to have four great songwriters all be four great lead singers, and I will argue all day that Peter's voice is as iconic as any other aspect of KISS's sound.

never been a major Kiss fan, but you can't deny their power on this night. They brought their A game to the party and nailed it.
Every band has a secret weapon in it- Kiss had Peter. His gritty vocal style was perfect for this song.
And what to say about Ace? such charisma. His power added huge legitimacy to the band.
Also fun to see their obvious nods to the Who- Paul's windmills, (which be borrowed from Pete Townshend, who in turn took it from Keith Richards), and the end, where Peter destroys his kit much like Keith Moon did on the (in)famous Smothers Brothers performance in 1967.

      Mr@thirdeyelabs,
That is exactly what you did. The first five albums from"Kiss" to "Destroyer" were the vintage years! After that, they became more of a cartoon than a rock band. On the first several albums the music was next level. Sounds like Black Diamond, 100,000 Years, Watchin' You, She, Parasite, Strange Ways, couldn't get any better! Tight arrangements, all members contributing on vocals, raw edgy sound. And nothing but black and silver on the costumes! They were dark, they were almost sinister, they were the band that your parents loved to hate! Then by the time '77-'78 came around, came around they were still very popular and even voted most popular band in the world by Gallup poll. Most of the early fan base was starting to become disillusioned and a large majority of their fan base was becoming made up of preteens. These old clips from Midnight Special are Kiss at the top of their game. During this era they also had some good performances on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, and ABC'S In Concert. In their prime, you couldn't beat 'em!
