Kiss' music is very underappreciated. Most people associate with their image, but for me the music is as influential. Metallica and Nirvana wouldn't exist without KISS.

Agreed.. all the albums released before 1979 have incredible songwriting on them, apart from the "hit singles".. Destroyer is probably my favorite, but Dynasty, Love Gun, Dressed To Kill and the very first album KISS, all have great songs on them! Go give those a listen and you won't regret it
The very first ones to understimate Kiss' music were Kiss themselves. They were more interested on selling records and sell them as comic characters.

Saw them in 1978? Big Mac arena, Denver. They kicked ass. They had the cleanest stage I ever saw, we walked around the back and they had a virtual factory back there, Fuckin roadies running back and forth like chickens with their heads cut off, setting up props for the next song. It was an amazing show. And I love that little little peek behind the Magic. Ironically Ritchie Blackmore‘s rainbow was playing the same night, but they were broadcasting that show live on the radio in totality so we were listening to it before we got into the kiss show and we had recorded it on a timer so we were able to listen to that show after we got out of the kiss show. It was a wonderful night of music I wish I had been able to go see both shows but we had already gotten the tickets to kiss.
These guys created something very unique and it worked very well for them.
They put on a great show and everyone has a lot of fun. And that's what it's all about, isn't it?

You either love them or hate them, no sitting on the fence with this band. I am a 53 year old nanna from Australia and have loved them since I was in high school. Even my mum who is 83 absolutely loved Ace Freley. Their music never gets old.

Hard to believe I grew on this music. I feel very, very sorry for today's generation.
So true since all they have are a bunch of petty faces who can't even sing. I was a teenager when KISS first started playing back in the early 1970's and I still listening to them 50 years later.
I’ve never been that into Kiss, but holy crap I can see why they have such a devoted following! After seeing this, I have to see them live if the opportunity allows!
Might have to be when they have a new lineup--and I mean one with NO original mbrs. Sorry....
My wife & I saw them a few years ago. They weren't very good......I was expecting much more. They basically thrashed their guitars.... every song was just a distorted wall of sound & 'sounded' the same.
After a while all the explosions & pyrotechnics become overwhelming..... it's like one big blur.
My wife actually fell asleep.. no kidding.

@@nate5859 Could be. I'm not doubting their RnR pedigree. Over the years I've been to many rock concerts and musically they seemed very very basic & unfortunately the sound / mix didn't help either. It was very 'muddy' & distorted. And apart from a brief and very welcome acoustic version of Beth the rest of the set was an unrelenting wave of noise. Mind you most of the audience had a blast, particularly people near the front.
Paul is one of the best rock singers ever. And nobody talks about it!

I just went to their concert here in Santiago de Chile and they had a great performance, we all got speechless not only for being showmen but also for being great musicians, they give all they got on the stage and I'm so grateful that I was able to see them for the first and probably the last time in their career 🙏🏻 ❤

One of my favorite songs of all time. I got to see them twice and while they might not be the greatest musicians in the world, they put on a hell of a show. 🤘🏻 The second time I saw them, one of their opening acts was Skid Row. Later that year, I became good friends with Phil Varone (Saigon Kick), who was playing drums for Skid Row at the time and while he said Ted Nugent (on same tour) scared him, he said the KISS guys were pretty cool.

I got into Kiss in the 1970s. My best friends sister had their Rock and Roll over album. I was hooked. They made it to Melbourne Australia in November 1980. The ticket cost $13.00. Totally worth it. Eric Carr had replaced Peter Criss on drums. I waited along time but they came back. Rock on guys.

I was 5 years old when I discovered them. My parents even made my older brother lend me his copy of Dinasty for good for I wanted to listened to it every day. I am 38 years old now, a lot of water have gone under the bridge, but I still got a special place for KISS in my heart and soul.

As a Canadian I compare this band to Rush. I have seen both live in concert. What I realize. the difference is that Rush is is the real deal and Kiss is the greatest gimmick band of all time. I will always celebrate Rush made it to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Kiss enjoy your cash. I actually have nothing against it. That said you will never be remembered like the true giants of rock and roll.

Kiss has always been a hit with me going 50 years with or without a big top. There’s a lot of energy with their music and a real stress reliever shouting out loud. From their start they came up with an excellent imagination for rock n roll.
