Let's be honest, Dave and James writing riffs together in the Master/Justice era would've been absolute insanity
Imagine Five Magics but on crack
Holy hell...that would have been the guitarist arms-race to end em all. Imagine songs like Dyer's Eve being even more technical and complex
Metallica is a good band and did some amazing things. But could anyone imagine how much greater they’d have been if Dave stayed and Cliff lived? Or even better if Dave stayed and Lars was crushed instead of Cliff hahaha!!
@@Owyourhurtingme in a perfect world Randy Rhodes dimebag and cliff would still be a live but we in the crappy parallel to that universe
@Stan Gable: Yes if Dave Mustaine stayed in Metallica + bassist Cliff Burton had lived to tell the tale. The writing technique & complexity would have been through the roof & Cliff Burton would have been one of the few who could play & or keep up with Dave Mustaine & James Hetfield rapid machine gun solos & there freight train rhythm playing! But i still think Dave Mustaine & Cliff Burton would have ended up leaving at some point though.
Dave should release an album with these songs and call it wrote em all
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣YES SIR!!!!!!.... that really just made me chuckle and laugh out loud
Yeah wrote ‘em all and ride my writing ! 😂😂😂

Wrote them all and deposit rights
@@mike-6373 Dave Mustaine basically wrote the first two Metallica albums musically , which were almost their best . Of course with Master of Puppets , they did eclipse those first two albums ; without Dave Mustaine's riffs . That is a fact . But Mustaine does deserve a lot of the credit for the early Metallica success , which was meteoric . No one can deny this . Facts . At least he managed to turn his talent into his own success after being left homeless and without royalty rights to his own music. Again , facts .
I’d laugh if Dave walked up to the mic and said “now we’re going to play Hangar 18 - you boys ok with that?”
That made me laugh way too hard

When did he play with Jason ?
Phantom lord
@@Paul-dw2cl Newstead was a guest at a Megadeth show, I don't remember the date.
What!? Kirk has played with all of those bass players! If you're counting Dave playing with Rob and Jason here, then Kirk played with Ron here. That means Kirk played with them all, too!
There are actually 5 Metallica bassists if you include Bob Rock as one, which we should considering he played bass on every track on St Anger. If you're going to count Mcgovney, which we should, then surely we must count Rock too since he played bass on an entire album.
Metállica ft. Kirk hammett, Robert Trujillo.
Okay but Kirk Hammett has basically been with Metallica since the beginning

Yeah the comment below is right if cliff would still be alive... mustaine would still be in Metallica but who cares cause Megadeth is better ! Lol
If Megadeth were to do such a concert like this, with all the ex band members. The show would last a day.
Half of it would be spent on the necromancy ritual required to bring Gar back.

Roy van der Westen and iron maidens would last a decade...

Dave killed the Jump In The Fire solos. Dude that mustve been one of his first songs ever written. He seems so thrilled to play it live finally.
He missed some of his bends. It sounded off from the recordings. I love Dave and I get it, these songs are rarely played by him.

Mustaine sweeps the floor with Hammett
I'll never forget meeting Dave Mustaine in 2009, I had a copy of the Decline of Western Civilization soundtrack on vinyl trying to get him to sign it, he didn't but said "are you a real redhead? " grabbed my hand with both of his and said " we gotta stick together" awesome and humbling moment in my life. So for that, Megadeth fan for life
I remember meeting the band when cryptic writings came out and got all their signatures.
I met Megadeth at Tower Records in Seattle before the Clash of Titans show, in support of Rust in Peace. I brought my CD sleeve for the band to sign. On that sleeve, there are individual photos of the band members, and in the very middle, a photo of the full band. When it was my turn, I approached the table with the sleeve opened to Dave's photo, since he was seated first. He took it from me, flipped thru the pages to the band photo and asked me, "do you mind if I sign here"? I of course said sure, and he signed and slid it down, where the rest of the guys followed suit. Very cool experience, and an UNFORGETTABLE show with AiC opening, Anthrax second, SLAYER third, and Megadeth closing.
@@AmeriKen1974 saw that same tour. AIC kinda got boo'ed. That was in Houston Texas
I got them to sign my epiphone studio les Paul right before they first split in 2002. They were at Mars music. Anyone here old enough to remember Mars music?

Everyone's got an opinion, and here's mine. Dave Mustaine's / Megadeth's music will forever be a part of me. Throw politics, personal differences and religion aside, the metal music of the 80's and 90's was what I listened to then, and what I still listen to now, at almost 50 years of age. Sure, other genres of music too, other artists, but the first several albums of Metallica and Megadeth were the soundtrack to my life for a long, long time. You never outgrow that, you take it to the grave. If I live to be 100 years old, I will still be listening to Metallica and Megadeth music.
Me too. As well as WASP and Slayer too
And Anthrax
Same here,
🍻🍻Here's to all of us 80's metalheads 🍻🍻
What a FANTASTIC time for music 🤘
This may sound odd to some people but, I lived in the South and we didn't have a lot of access to good metal.
Fortunately in the '80s we had a simulcast am metal radio station out of Houston into Charlotte North Carolina. We had one show on FM called metal shop. I discovered Dave first. Megadeth came out with peace sells and it took me by storm.
I had heard a couple of songs off of kill them all but it had to grow on me because, I was a led Zeppelin / Sabbath junkie and that speed stuff I had to catch on to and that is what Dave introduced me to. Then Master of puppets hit and that was the best of the best.
@@amoore-zd9zv Your from NC? I live there too... That's cool that y'all had to kinda find this stuff back in the day...may sound weird but it feels almost too easy to instantly access any music now. +Valo Gonzalez its not..
+Pillu Kakka In this situation I'm glad it is.
***** Doesn't matter what they made. It's music which is intrinsically attached to our lives and if anyone is just in it for the money then they're wrong. Look at pop music and how much money and attention pop stars generate. The music, the look, the attitude and the whole vibe just radically sucks, yet there it is. Meanwhile Metallica had no idea how rich they were going to become when Dave's dumb ass forced them to kick him out. Btw, I feel that Megadeth's music is superior to Metallica's in nearly every measurable sense yet it's only fair to say that Dave's behavior was out of line and that he was at that time a true dumb ass who very much needed the rude awakening that James and Lars gave him. I'm glad they did, otherwise there would be no Megadeth.
+Valo Gonzalez Agreed with you. However i preffer Metallica and Megadeth equally.
Dude, Dave has like 4 albums that have gone double platinum. Megadeth has sold over 50 million records worldwide, Dave Mustaine has certainly made millions of dollars.

I was 15 years old during the Metallica/Megadeth feud. I lived through it first hand. Having Mustaine join Metallica in the year 2011, much less give Hammet a hug on stage, would have been absolute science fiction back in the 80's. Unbelievable, really.😵

Oh yeah, every note Dave plays makes Kirk look better.
For the type of grace it took Dave to stand on that stage with the band that 86ed him and after he had to relearn guitar when he could barely hold a feather in his hand after his injury, I'd say he shredded that set

Mustaine looks so professional in this video. He has been invited to jam with his former bandmates and he means nothing but business. On the other side , his former bandmates are trying to please him by standing by his side as a sign of acknowledgement whenever the solo part kicks in.
Kirk went over to Dave during the Jump solo just to get in his head a bit. hehe.
Dave isn't on Kirk's tier either. They're both completely different and Kirk had made some of the greatest solos of all time and Dave has created some of the best riffs and solos tbh. But there's really no comparison.

These guys continue to show their ability to act like mature adults and bury the hatchet with Dave and show love for Jason. Good for them for stepping up!
Lars can't play.
Metal never dies
Still happy Kirk joined. He seems to be the lovely glue that holds them together. Lars and James needed a nice guy in the band :)
That was jason
Erik Andersen Sorry mate, but nah. He is gone, as you can see and rightfully so, but Lars and James need Kirk for the band to stay the way it is ;-)
+RIk Aderson in Jason's case, Lars and James needed a beast in the band.
I think everything worked out in the end and see no way to make it better. Poor Cliff though :/
I remember an excerpt from 'Some Kind Of Monster' where the band says that had Cliff been at the auditions back in 2001, he might not have gotten the job.
Cliff died during a turning point in their career. The fact that he was fantastic made his loss harder, but what made his death a tragedy was the friendship he had with the three of them. I have never heard any one of those guys talk about someone the way they talk about Cliff. They looked up to him. No matter how great Rob is, Metallica consists of three members only: James, Kirk and Lars.
3:47 would have been awesome if Mustaine started singing This was my life, this was my fate!
Tought same myself
That riff from Jump in the Fire changed the way I thought about, and played metal forever, unforgettable.
I hate how people are criticizing Metallica for this. Literally, they’re jamming with an old friend!
When all this Covid-19 shit is over, I don't think a few gigs with Dave in the band is a bad idea.
Well, next year is the 40th metallica anniversary, they will surely do something
@@santiagooyos5528 I would love to hear Master Of Puppets with Dave playing guitar.
So how is that covid 19 shit being over going? 🤔
@@paulkline3011 Well Paul, it's not.
@@paulkline3011 Three months later Paul.. It's still not over.. but people are starting to say fuck it, and starting to open shit up again
Lars now hasn't used a ride cymbal since approximately 1987...
O8SOL3TE facts
Nah, he’s used it in load for stuff like Bleeding Me.
Yeeaah...
The china cymbal has kinda become his ride now.
“We gotta do ‘Kill ‘Em All,’ obviously, right?” Well, yeah, since Mustaine wrote it, that’d be swell, James. 🙄
mustaine HELPED write 4 out of the 10 songs
I wouldve liked something from ride the lightning that Dave helped on
jonathan heck Of course... that’s why they invited him to join and the crowd went insane. 🙄
@@akiwii9925 bullshit lmao thats why they used his material all the way up to MOP
@@mickspicredbeard7021 so what? what the fuck are you trying to say what the fuck are you trying to prove damn cant you guys just listen to the quality music and enjoy, but you know since you said that let me check out metallicas biggest hits and how mustaine helped em..
seek and destroy- even kirk has more contrubution to this song
battery- nah, just a small riff from leper messiah completes his credits of mop which is actually worse when mustaine wrote it, check out the old tapes, james just used the chord progression
Fuel- main riff kirk, other shit is james
Sad but true- james riffs solo kirk
for whom the bell tolls- cliff burton and james
creeping death- intro and breakdown kirk hammett, and THE SOLO kirk hammett
One- nothing from mustaine
Mop- prochorus hammett, harmonies cliff, other riffs james
Enter sandman- main riff hammett, the rest is james.. so what if he contributed the arguably the less known songs from 80s... jump in the fire is really good but it aint shit when comparising to other songs itsss just same fucking riff, and listen to dave and james tapes solos used to be the same chromatic nuance and tremolo 3 notes, yea ktulu and ride the lightning are really cool ngl but stop doing this shit, so what lets say he wrote all the fucking shit (which to be acurrate 35 percent of the kill em all, and maybe who the hell knows 5-10 percent of the rtl) so what does this means he can outplay outwrite everyone on the planet? no it doesnt its just means that james and lars made a chepshot and used daves stuff when they shouldnt just stop with this bullshit Ive never seen a metallica fan say shit to lets say peace sells or rust in peace just listen to the shit without bitching.. (ironically i am bitching rn but screw it)
Jump in the fire is such a classic incredible metal song...Metallica with Dave´s songwritting and leadership would be at Iron Maiden level of musical greatness for sure
Dave is such a beast on guitar.
Must have been amazing to see them all up there at once.
Yah, Ya think...nothing but love brother !!!!!!
in 2011 James was already singing like a pop singer. RIP Metallica.
Dave is the godfather of thrash metal ... period ... his contributions and influence to Metallica and Slayer in the earliest days are well documented ...
You are right, I´m glad that lars and kerry king have acknowledged that.
Alejandro Huerta Perez Slayer?? Really???
Now Slayer is stealing from Dave
Darksky1001able - kerry king was the second guitarist while dave was forming megadeth, there are videos on youtube from 1984 - check out "megadethized" channel video berkeley 1984... some future songs already in the set including "set the world afire" and "good mourning/black friday". by this time some songs from rust in peace were also written (holy wars, rust in peace, main chord progression for hangar 18... aka call of ktulu by metallica) dave was prolific early on to say the least and very influential on the entire scene - no one could do what he was doing and that pushed the envelope of early thrash and speed metal.
@Barry McCockiner sounds like something a Metallica fan boy would say
Dave: *finally, i have my second chance*
Father time is catching up to Dave... regardless it still crushes.
Faster than hell, how sweet it is!
Omg triple flying V in tha house!
dave wasn't using a flying V, it is dean
yes man, its just dean v thx.
oh sorry man my bad you know better of course lol
btw kirk was using an esp "flying v"
Mark Chang I'm late but a flying v bass exists
they shouldve played mechanix
They should have played the original Mechanix like they did in 1983
Lars cant play that fast anymore
+christopher colburn Well considering he did play it originally, I beg to differ.
It's well exemplified in the beginning of the studio version of Metal Militia. Although that would be difficult to keep pace. :)
Or The Four Horseman
Dave was and is the brains behind Metal period! LEGEND!
When was the last time Dave played them songs before this night? To rip it up like that shows ya something doesn't it? He's definitely a talented player and amazing human after everything he's put himself through.
Dave said he does not practice guitar, he writes the songs, lays down the tracks and plays them in concert.
people who know music know that Dave is the actual godfather of Thrash Metal.
i love that Dave played his old solos.
This still makes me teary! I fuckin love all these dudes! To see them sharing a stage is sublime! Pure brilliance!
damn im high , i went back watch video again , cause i was thinking sublime wasnt on that stage this guy on drugs , but seams im only one failed drug test, shared is ..not with . my name is brian im a dumbass
@@brianpinion5844 hahahahaha Thats awesome! Funny mufackah! hahahah
1:06 I love how Metallica fans appreciate and supported Dave.
Man, Mustaine’s tone is absolutely perfect. Shit cuts like a knife
Dave is a genius !!!
phantom lord one of my favorite Metallica songs. Heard them play this way back.
Dave is the greatest musician ever!!
Is that u do with ur cock
No fucking lie, Jump in the fire sounds fucking amazing with Dave mixed in. Just how tight it is and how the tone emphasizes the perfect thrash metal sound
