James voice has more distortion than his guitar 😂
NAJ Productions Well at least then we can hear the bass.
😄😄
@@prometheustv6558 I don't even mind how you can't hear Kirk during the solo, Cliff really stole the show on this one.
I played one of these shows, your amp simply isnt distorting. The playing shines through though.
The monitors are miked!!! That's why it sounds like that....
How much gain do you want?
James: no
Sometimes more gain makes the sound a shit
@@diegogomez6835 yeah... but too little sounds funky also...
Well, yeah, in that concert sound more like hard rock, but good anyways ;DD

When they are mixing the tapes to mute all the crown noises, all the instruments are effected, but the thing is that is a very rare video.
3:27 that’s the look of perfect harmony and determination, Cliff was at his happiest at this moment he thought “this is really happening and this is gonna be my entire life from now on”. As a fellow musician that’s all we strive for R.I.P Cliff
Yes. Those of us that somewhat enjoy our work are a blessed bunch.
RIP
it was gonna be his entire life from then on
Fuck man, Cliff was absolutely robbed of his life. So tragic.
I wish to be him happy enjoy life and the music making thousands of people happy. And being very talented RIP to the best metal bassist
RIP Cliff Burton, one of the best bassists to ever walk this earth
Thee greatest bass player to Rome god's green and blue planet
I don’t think he ever walked the earth , he levitated
And Jordan is unbeatable
Love how Cliff was so happy when playing. He looks up to the crowd and starts smiling. Wish he was still here
Definitely wonder what today’s Metallica would’ve been like if he was still here. I know he influenced a lot of the songs. I mean his bass works is just out of this world.
Metallica iron madien
We probably don’t have the late 90’s Metallica aka Load/Reload and St Anger and there is also no One with probably a higher amount of bass in Metallica things would be very different
You an I both.
Don't be sad that he is gone! be happy that he existed!
It's not everyday that the bass player gets the attention
Cause its Cliff Fucking Burton man, cliff deserves all the attention
It's not everyday you have a Cliff Burton as bass player.

ali dx pardon me? ....no I haven't heard of corpse grinder. and don't really care either. the fact that you would compare some no name grind core or whatever band and

It´s too sad knowing that Cliff didn´t live enough to see how gigantic Metallica became through the following years until today, and always remembering him as part of band´s sucess and history.
Yeah but Metallica was at the top of the heap of the “underground”music scene by this point. Anyone into any kind of subversive music styles had mad respect for metallica around ‘85 even if they weren’t as big in mainstream as they later become

Cliffs headbanging should be in the Guinness book of records
He was 22 here. Some 5 years after the end of puberty. You could call it his young maturity voice.
At that time, it was the voice of pure thrash metal
Makes me laugh because James is so loud and then his Explorer makes very little noise
The guy was in his twenties tho 😂

My dad loves this music, and I am so glad he introduced me to this music.
Seeing Cliff and James headbang in sync...god bless them
This era of Metallica will always be the example and best form of the band.
The only explanation for Cliff being taken from this earth is that God needed more thunder in his choir of angels.
James hair looks like microwaveable ramen. It's awesome.
LIKEWISE! TO THIS DAY, I, STILL, DO NOT KNOW WHY HE CUT IT LATER? In my opinion, he, as well as the rest of the band, looked A LOT BETTER when they had "long, rocker" hair! Also, in my opinion, by having long hair, it "matched the music" they played.

Cliffs foreshadowed death oh no rip cliff best bassist ever can make his bass into a guitar
My favorite thing about this is Young Kirk wobbling through the solos and looking to Cliff for the cues. He truly led the band during his tenure.
That’s just not happening. Kirk was nailing this. There’s no wobbling. The sound mix on this video is heavily weighted to stage right due to the camera mic position and also the wind. Kirk looks at the others in the band at various points to keep time, as all band mates do. Have you ever played in a band? Don’t let your narrative get in the way of what’s actually happening. These guys were fkn tight at this point and they’re all playing their roles.
@@sdarbs it wouldn't be a metallica comment section without someone bashing Lars or Kirk.

On March 5, 1985 (the day before my 18th birthday) I saw Metallica at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver. In September of 1986, Cliff Burton was killed in Sweden when the band's bus crashed. I've been asked a few times over the years what concert I would want to see if I had a time machine, and I realize it's that one. I'd love to go back in time and see the show again and appreciate Cliff.

Day On The Green is easily my favorite live of Metallica, all of the songs in this live are just such good songs of Metallica's 2nd (second) album "Ride The Light", my favorite part of this live is James Hetfield's voice and the presence of Clifford Lee Burton (Cliff Burton). Long live Metallica 🤘👍
This concert was such a big deal for the boys , Cliff being a San Francisco local and going to Day on the Green concerts for years it was a moment of realising that he had " made it" , he had a deal with his parents that they would pay his bills for 3 years and he would go full time with his music and if after 3 years he hadn't gone anywhere he would pack it in and get a " Real " job , so this marked a moment that he could see success and his parents ( Jan and Ray ) knew he was going to be alright.
There is also the story of James and his mates trashing the Backstage trailer they were staying in that day and being called into notorious San Francisco promotor Bill Graham's office to get yelled at , James totally maned up and said " we are young and dumb , we meant no harm and we are sorry ,I will try and do better!" To which Bill respected and appreciated James from that day forward , on there return to the Day on the Green in 91 , Bill had put plastic coverings on EVERYTHING including the Beer bottles , the couches, the roof , the fruit bowl as a joke.
Legendary concert and a HUGE day in Metallica history.
Cliff’s head banging skills are otherworldly. I mean, the variations in speed are incredible. In 0:37 you got fast Cliff, and in 3:33 you got slowmo Cliff. Most importantly, he never stopped head banging 🤘🏼 Freaking legend.
During recording Metallica said that headphones never stayed on him and he would take his bass into another room and you would see his hair going and Lars added once the music started he started headbanging
