Dime was my hero. I got to spend some Dimetime with him in the early 90s in Cincinnati. He said some great things to me that day and after the gig. He called me brother a few times. I went to visit him where he rests today in Texas and had a beer and burned one with him as the sun went down that day. Just me and him. My brother. My hero. There was an August Coup, which was a failed military takeover of the Soviet Union.3 So, tensions were still high when the Russian government contacted the organizers of the show to see if they would be interested in having a show in Russia. Word of the show spread to many outlets, who wanted to see if they could televise the event, with Time Warner ending up getting the rights to record the show. Dime: "Hold my joint."
Dime also: "Actually, gimme that back....I'll show you anyway."
Accurate
Honestly lmao

It will never be like this again. Thank you God for having this on video for us. I do not believe Pantera was a band. They are an entity of some type that somehow rips through dimensions, space, and time.
My brother. My hero. He was The Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarist In The World. This video is proof of that. I will always honor his work and his amazing accomplishments for the rest of my life .Getcha Pull. Full Pull.
I wish I was old enough to have seen them live dime just seemed like such a down to earth dude
I’ll admit it, I teared up reading this. I’m glad you had an opportunity to kick it with him. By all accounts, Dimebag was a good dude.
Find me on Facebook I'll show you the sickest Dimebag Darrell pencil drawing you've ever seen
Respect 👊
I’m from Fort Worth and they were from Arlington, right next door literally. My grandmother lived in Arlington for 25 years in the exact same area as the brothers mom. Saw Dime on several occasions before they got big. You couldn’t mistake that mop he had. And yes he was always purchasing alcohol. Lol! Saw him several times over the years after the explosion of Pantera. Nicest guy EVER to walk the planet. Period. Humble, honest, loved to talk about music. He was a music fan first. Goddamn shame that piece of shit took it upon himself to act as God. I don’t hate anyone except that low life scum that pulled that trigger that night in Ohio. I sincerely hope he’s roasting in hell while getting reamed by a demon.
Legend has it that the echo of this concert still roams around mother Russia 🇷🇺 to this day
I wanna catch that breeze
Fuck yeah!!!!
My ex lives there and they still talk about this there today.
Legend has it that people are still leaving.
"But they are playing in Russia! The crowd won't understand what they are saying!"
"It won't matter."
"What? Why not?"
"Headbanging is the universal language."
Heavy metal knows no borders
It's not the words, but the feeling conveyed. That's all we need to know.
@Orangutan Guitars Only Phil can understand himself. He speaks his own language
@@rowanmelton7643 nor languages.
Any where you go this band will sound damn good
I can't explaine this performance
Forever band "pantera"❤
I love how Dime looks at the crowd as he rips into that final part of the solo before the breakdown.
He’s like “You guys aren’t prepared for the heaviness of this fuckin’ breakdown”
DIM IA A GOD 👌😎🔥🔥🔥
A long time ago I shared a screenshot of that face with a caption like " when you know you are about to blow a million Russian minds" lol.
And you can read FUCK! from his lips as blind person!

Probably the greatest live metal performance in history.
THE GREATEST LIVE METAL PERFORMANCE IN HISTORY OF HEAVY METAL 🤘🏾
Metallica Seattle 89 would be a pretty close competitor, especially Battery or Blackened
probably?
that crowd just didnt know what kind of history was being made
@@shepshe66they knew this was a special occasion, 1st metal/ rock show after the fall of the soviet union as it wasn't allowed.
Over 1 million in that crowd and too this day, it still blows me away watching this footage.
One of the if not THE greatest moments in Heavy Metal history.
greatest forsure
hands down best live performance in heavy metal
Watching Dime here just makes tough. What he could have been. 18 years today we lost the Goat of metal guitar. Long live his music!
Still milking his death for likes all these years later eh?
temazoooo
@@dr.loomis4221 still crying?
Imagine if Dimebag and Vinnie see Pantera’s reunion ❤️🤘 Zakk Wylde really rocks for them 🔥🔥
@@dr.loomis4221 Yeah, 158, really 'milking' it 🙄
3:45 decades of death metal, doom, djent, etc. but this still might be the heaviest metal ever
Heavier than stalinium
It’s amazing but not the heaviest and I say that with a heavy heart
This is as heavy as it gets everything nowadays is no where near even close to the realm of heaviness and soul pantera was on.
Djent is garbage
Born in 97. I love Mettalica and all metal in general even todays progressive metal. Still nothing comes close to the feeling Pantera gives me 🤘
*fun fact:* you cant go back to the studio version after listening this
Fun and true fact
Disagree. Studio version is way better.
This is so true
so fucking true
Absolutely true

Ok i think I heard something crack
Obscure Creation I'll probably break my neck listening to this song too 🎸🤘🏿
Pantera is still one of the best bands ever. This song is so awesome and sounds so good live.
That breakdown was so heavy, it broke the Soviet Union.
^ Historically Accurate
What a comment. Brilliant!
Fun Fact: September 1991 was a big month in Russia. Shortly after this festival in December Iron Curtain collapsed Pantera ended the Soviet Union gave Russia back their freedom and independence...
Damn!!!😂👍
Москва.. Тушино. На касете VHS у меня был этот концерт... А теперь русский мат.. Блять это были охуительные времена))
The fact that Dime walked by Kirk Hammet after Pantera's set and said "Follow that one boy" still gives me chills..
Is this legit ?
@@tha_akr9936 According to Vinny Paul's Drum Tech, John The Kat Brooks it is.
metallica at moscow 91 was sick but pantera was insanely sick
i could understand why / if he said it because you could see on all 4 guys face THEY KNEW THEY FUCKING NAILED IT ! the band knew , the sounds waves that were created on that stage travelled way way out deep into the universe . it could be 50,000 years from now and i hear DIME 3:49 for first time since tonite and i will be INSTANTLY drawn to that sound , theres no sound that gets me more fired up !
Kirk is nothing compared to Dime.
3:55 Phil jumps in the air, screams "Grawwwhh" and everything makes sense
I think that singlehandedly is the reason this version beats the studio version. It's crazy how much of a difference one syllable can make.
This makes me so happy
Getcha pull!
Lol, Phil summed up in one unintelligible noise, love it!:,-D
Who is still listening in 2024?
I’m here 🤘🏼
I ll Listen it forever🤟metal greetings from Bavaria/ germany

And just like that, the "Breakdown" came into existence, and the bar was set so high, that nobody has been able to touch it since.
This and maybe the breakdown from Angel Of Death by Slayer???
Amen.
Og loko, These colors don't run, I used to make out with medusa, I was once possibly maybe perhaps a cowboy king, Ruin.
Check out these songs and tell me the modern break down isn't alive and well
OG Loko has a better chorus imo than the breakdown, shayleys voice was so strong.
Black Sabbath would like to have a word with you.
Can't believe 17 years have passed already since the greatest metal guitarist of all time was taken from us. R.I.P. Darrell you fucking legend
RIP Dime......damn I miss his style of guitar. These pussies today have no clue.
here for the same reason :/ miss him every day
Because that piece of shit shot him
I was an English professor at a French liberal arts university when Dime was murdered.. I scrapped my lessons for all my classes and we read an article about the murder... suddenly a student yelled out...nooooooo. Just realizing that the guitarist he loved from Damageplan was the same as I was talking about from Pantera..he lent me a Damageplan cd and I lent him vulgar display of power at our next class....
At least someone blew the murderers head off with a shotgun
Agony is the price
That you'll pay in the end
Domination consumes you
Then calls you a friend
It's a twisted fall
Binds are like steel
And manipulates the will to be
And it's hard to see
How soon we forget
When there's nothing else
Left to destroy
It's a useless ploy
Your eyes will see
The dawn of the day
And the writing
On the wall
Those words that stare
Into your soul
And to yourself
You will befall
It's domination pushed into living hell
Domination a now blacked heart
Is reaching out divinity
Body suspended by chains over razors
And nails it's a penalty
Each razor a vice and each nail
Marks the demise of you life
Grim construction grows
Has life played a trick
Sealed you in brick by brick
Till your end forcing you to bend
Your eyes will see
The dawn of the day
And the writing
On the wall
Those words that stare
Into your soul
And to yourself
You will befall
It's domination pushed into living hell
Domination a now blacked heart
Is reaching out divinity
Body suspended by chains over razors
And nails it's a penalty
Each razor a vice and each nail
Marks the demise of you life

Has life played a trick
Sealed you in brick by brick

What's left inside him?
Don't he remember us?
Can't he believe me?
We seemed like bothers
Talked for hours last month
About what we wanna be
I sit now with his hand in mine
But I know he can't feel
No one knows what's done is done
It's as if he were dead
I'm close with his mother
And she cries endlessly
Lord how we miss him
At least what's remembered
It's so important to make best friends in life
But it's hard when my friend sits with blank expressions
No one knows what's done is done
It's as if he were dead
He as hollow as I alone now
He as hollow as I alone
A shell of my friend
Just flesh and bone
There's no soul He sees no love
I shake my fists at skies above
Mad at God
He as hollow as I converse
I wish he'd waken from this curse
Hear my words before it's through
I want to come in after you
My best friend
He as hollow as I alon
Thanks ✌🔥
If i had a dollar for every note Dimebag missed, I'd be in debt cos I'm sure that guy added some shit in.

Everyone talks about Dimebag don’t get me wrong his solo was amazing, But nobody gives Vinnie any praise when he controlled that entire crowd of half a million people with his kick drum alone! That kick drum kicks in everyone loses their shit! Band included. RIP Boys!
I can just imagine being a young Russian you get this free concert with crunching guitars and this machine gun kick drum is controlling the tempo.
Yeah or Rex on bass either. But dude I'm a drummer and drummers and bass players don't give a shit especially if they KNOW they're tight and the backbone. They leave accolades to guitarists and lead singers they constantly have to be fed addolation. Honestly no bs.
Every single member of this band was stellar in this performance. The bass was outstanding too but no one mentions it.
The tightest group of musicians to ever step on stage Thomas P... period so yes Vinnie does not get enough praise
U can Google it i think 100k people were expected... and 1.5m showed up.. 50 people died at this concert
Am I the only one who likes this version better than the original?
Hell na this great, the crowd and the energy, this is live version is fucking great \m/
Live versions done well are always better man

Rex brown never gets any credit it's all about dime and Vinny and phil. Rex browns bass playing here is phenomenal and he never gets mention in the reaction videos i have scene. Not knocking on the other band members but for once i would love to see Rex brown get some love
Phil said in an interview back then that to his knowledge Rex has NEVER missed a note..EVER...Ur welcome.keep it heavy
@@deanleonard9984 thanks never knew Phil said that
Yes i mean everyone praises the solo but if rex didn't follow the groove with such hability it wouldn't have to sound as good
It's the bass players curse my friend. You're invisible. Only Geddy Lee and Flea have figured out how to break it.
The bass in the remastered studio version is delicious it sounds so good
