Dimebag was great. Gave his heart and soul for Pantera. He was broken, when Phil dropped out.

I’ve heard this song a bazillion times and never noticed the echo of the “sss” in “gates” at the beginning of the guitar solo. Great ears
I literally took a mixing masterclass which we mixed this song, and the instructor (who was a veteran professional engineer) had us do two mixes, one where we try to match as closely as possible to the original, and one where you try to entirely do your own thing. The instructor didn't even notice that, not one person did that delay on the S.

the joy of watching someone, an opera singer nonetheless, listen to and analyze one of my favorite bands. Amazing.
Watching someone witness Pantera for the first time, and being so taken with it, makes me appreciate Pantera so much more even though I've been listening to them for over half my life now. Amazing.
It was actually really fun! She just provided a therapy for us all who never really had a place to express how it affected each of us as even though we all shared in the loss everyone has a personal story and meaning! One song can mean something so different between us and when and where it brings us to and how or why it got us through some moment in time and YET EVERY SINGLE ONE IS CORRECT!
IT APPLIES ACROSS THE BOARD TO EACH OF US EQUALLY!
And seeing her reaction for me just made it the first time in a long time that I can listen without the sadness I seemed to feel like I was required to carry out of respect and was like Dime & Vin saying through her... it's okay! Metalhead here and long time Pantera fan. Dimebag (the guitarist) and his brother Vinny (the drummer) started a new band called Damage Plan after Pantera broke up. A crazed fan of Pantera got mad at them thinking they were the cause of Pantera's break up so he rushed the stage during the opening song of a Damage Plan show in Ohio and shot and killed Dimebag along with a couple other people. Vinny died of heart failure a couple years ago. Vinny went on to be in another amazing band named HellYeah. Both are dearly missed for their amazing talent and the really cool people they were.
