mathew garza well I know when you drink for a certain amount of years your voice can change I think that’s what happened to James over the timespan of 84 to 89
Now that I think about it, it makes a lot of sense became he had some classical training, and in classical music the accent of the rhythms tends to be on the 1 of the 4/4 or 3/4 measures, instead of the the 2 and 4 like most rock or metal songs.
Right when hammet goes into the solo, I love it that I can see Cliff go to his speakers and he’s feeling his bass tone. Such a godly sound. Rip my boy. See u in the afterlife.
😆Well-said. The trick is he doesn’t bang from the neck, he bangs from the delts and thoracic spine. This is actually a much safer and healthier way to do it. Trust me-I’m closin in on 40, and I fuct up my jaw and fractured mi spine just at the base of the skull from banging from the neck in mi teens and twenties! Now I can’t do it at all without risking serious injury, and I’ve got a load of other back issues from trying to avoid re-injury. Can Kılıç doesn’t matter, it’s still a good album. Everyone only hates it because of enter sandman and nothing else matters but there’s still lots of other great underrated songs which are just as good as their first 4 albums.
It's so nice to see Cliff playing with them it still kills me that hes gone. I miss him so much. I still liked a couple albums they did after him but their is always that part missing.. I'm still listening to you Cliff. RIP..
I always really loved the era of 84-87ish. Lars really always made an effort to play the drum parts how they were written through that time period. A lot of people glorify his playing even through the early 90’s but the facts are that he started getting lazy around 88 and 89. For example, go watch the four horsemen from seattle 89 and you’ll see that Lars completely simplifies the kick pattern instead of doing the triplets in the original recording. It’s a shame he stopped playing like he did in this video.

I expected other people to comment on this but I didn’t see any. If you notice just after the big solo ends and James starts singing again, Kirks guitars breaks a string, you can see it popping off around 4:44 and at that point on you start hearing this occasional squeaky/screetchy sound. That is the sound of that loose string swinging around still attached, you can see him trying to deal with the broken string afterwards while still trying to play the song. Good thing it broke AS SOON as the solo was finished instead of during. Good timing.
@@zachary9057 True, I just rewatched it in 0.5 speed and all strings seem intact. The noise was probably just the string "detaching" from the nut. I've had it happen a couple of times, when the string kind of moves from behind/under the locks

That years from 1985 until Cliff's sudden passing in 1986, are the best. You can seeit in the video, that they had the power, the momentum and the music to be at the top. I only wish that I saw them playing live in that tour in 1985 (I think they were opening for Ozzy). What a great show it must have been...
Me and my best friend had tickets to see them on this tour with W.A.S.P. and Armoured Saint in Toronto in January 1985. My favourite part is his insane "Now it's time to DIIIIIIE!!!" at 1:51.

He sang with more aggression and fury back then. He still sings good, but the fire is gone

Don't forget Mustaine, he's the mastermind behind those early Metallica riffs.
