In my version on history, Lars gets kicked out instead which causes a chain reaction where Cliff never dies and Nick Menza joins the group. The world then moved into a new world order made in the image of the unstoppable force that is Megatallica.

There was too much ego in the hetfield/Mustaine/ Burton/ulrich lineup. All alpha males everyone wanted to be in charge. Combined with Mustaine’s addictions, it was never going to last. Metallica died with cliff, as then the primary songwriters became Ulrich and Hetfield, so the songwriting power was cut in half, and never recovered. Newsted was not allowed to contribute like Burton.

The first time I heard this song back in 1992, when I received a tape called Thrash Patrol and Megadeth - Holy Wars was the first song on Side A and when I played the song, I was smitten by the riffs and then I bought all their albums Killing is my Business all the way to Countdown to Extinction. I love how Dave Mustaine transmitted all his anger, personal struggles and political views through his music.
