    I have been using the 9.3 since my early days of hunting Sambar, still on the same rifle, a Whitworth with a Pecar 2-7x32 I purchased it in 1979 as a package for $350, has never let me down, I don't stalk anymore but will never sell this gem it simply never let me down and has taken a stack of deer, pigs and scrub bulls over the years. But it did have a habit of sheering mounts every now and then, I put on some Warne steel bases and rings about 15 years ago and it hadn't moved since, mounts in the 70's were nothing to what they are today, great calibre.

    Nice to see the 9.3x62 getting some well deserved love. I have been shooting a custom 9.3 built on a Brno vz24 since 2005. It was fitted with steel talley QD mounts that have given zero problems, first scope was a Leupold and now it wears a Swaro, neither of them have had any problems. I like the 250 Woodies on Sambar and 250 TSX for scrub bulls.

    Hey mate, you mentioned in an old Q&A that you were going to make a video about shooting off hand (tips/tricks) but I can't find it in your catalog. Would be keen to see that in the future.

    How common is ammo on that cal? Is it widely available at your local gun store when u need it?

    • @fhckoutdoors
      @fhckoutdoors  4 месяца назад +1

      I’ve never had a drama finding it. Not a very broad range to pick from at most shops though. The PPU ammo I used in the video is the most common I have seen in shops.

    ignore this if it was just the camera angle, but your front ring looked like it was right up to where the scope starts to flare out. if it is on that part even a fraction it can impair the seating and throw off your zero pretty easily. enjoying the vids though, ihave a 358 win and have been thinking about 9.3 for awhile now.

      Just the angle mate, but thanks for the suggestion.

    I've had the 35 whelen since 1993. Very comparable. The accuracy of my 35 is pretty ordinary in the 7600 pump. But out to 100 meters it's good enough on sambar. Puts them down emphatically. Been using a 7 mm mag last few years and that's so accurate and deadly with 175 Woodleigh handloads it's put the Whelen into retirement. Just my 2cents worth.

    I was having some accuracy issues with my 9.3 too. Turns out the recoil (2.7kg rifle) screwed up the retical of my Kahles scope. Fixed under warranty. Just mentioning in case the scope might be part of your issue too.

    I just got a Zastava in 9.3x62, planning on using it with irons only in my very thick country near home. If interested can you do a ballistics comparison between 9.3 and 35 Whelen? I'm a dumb Fhuck with that stuff.

    • @fhckoutdoors
      @fhckoutdoors  4 месяца назад +1

      I certainly can. In short, the 9.3 edges out the 35 whelen. But I can add that to the video list.

      I like 45/70, it’s great for up close work. It does suffer from a lot of drop and loss of energy at distance though. But for close on stalking it’s fantastic

    I have a Tikka T3X in 9.3- I was bricking it for the first shot. Big boom, lots of dirt flying off the berm, and my shoulder went: "It's that all you got?!" I'd rather shoot my 9.3 than my .300 Win Mag any day. Now, if only I could draw a moose tag...

    I run these same bullets in my 9.3x57 at around 2130 fps. They shoot pretty good for a cheap bullet. Can put 3 into an inch at 100 meters. My 9.3x62 gets the Barnes 250 ttsx at around 2600fps.

    For the lead free I've got some 250gr ECX that I've been loading. Very nice.
    I have used the ppu, easy to get and a good price. But the lead issue is real and I think the ECX performs better in all ways. A bit better in speed, I got 700mm through water jugs for penitration. Lost a few petels and ended up at 210gr
    That's some clout.
