Thanks Rob based off of your video on The PTR Vent 3. I don’t own a lithium but almost bought one. I didn’t for the following reasons: 1. Great Video. I love the PTR Vent 2 (9mm) I got to play with and I can't justify the price tag. I did pick up the Shadow Systems HS923 and I can't wait for it get approved. Cat cans sound sooo good. Unfortunately my preferred suppressor store doesn't sell them.
First, thank you for all the hard work you put in for our knowledge if you could run one can on a Sig SPEAR 300 what’s your pick I am just getting in the market it is my first suppressor not trying to make a mistake on a purchase. Thanks in advance.
you won't go wrong with either choice...Fat cat is super short 4.5 inches, but is a tad heavy.... it is a smidge louder than the Polo K, but a good tone to it though. Both are awesome for the money....literally half the cost of the PTR Vent but still 85% of the performance....it's like all things, you usually pay a ton for that extra 10-20% performance.
The Vent 2 is genuinely impressive, but I can't recommend it on pistol hosts (it's too loud and still spits back), only on subguns like the MP5. If you run 147 or 165gr subs on a MP5 with it, you purely hear the action of the gun and the dirt being hit, that's it. I managed to get one for 850 a few weeks back when one of the distributors did a clearance and at that price, I'm very satisfied. Their retail price is wayyyy too high, but like you said, they likely will come down at some point to compete (and if they do, they'll take a huge market share).
Curious why you didn't include KAC or SF suppressors in this review -- I would submit -- these are better -- in every way for the end user. Or... are these on the list to be reviewed in the future?
I'm utilitarian so for me multipurpose that's good enough is king. Have a ventum that took a core strike at the very base of it and still waiting for it to come back... So that's fun. I also have a nomad which I very much like. If I'm looking at anything it's like a universal rifle like 30 cal and a pistol cal or something like 8.6 and a 22
I can't seem to find any decent reviews of the large caliber suppressors. As a Michigan Hunter we are limited to .450 Bushmaster in most of the lower peninsula and the kick and noise are extreme. How about looking at the multi-caliber 46 suppressors that are out there like the Dead Air Primal, SilencerCo Hybrid 46, Banish 46 (and V2), and TiON Dragoon 450 from a noise suppression and Kick-back reduction perspective? Rob would like to know!
Right now the B&T SRBS is my favorite, amazed with being quiet, low blow back, and hardly any signiture at night. Semper Fi brother I was a Marine too and a Provisional Rifle Platoon Instructor. Did a tour in Afghanistan in 2005(it sucked.) Now I am a professional Gunsmith/rifle builder and professional 1000yd benchrest competitor. That PTR Vent is my second favorite. I also just buy the 7.62 and throw it on my 5.56 AR's
Hey! I’ve been digging for someone that’s had experience with the new b&t srbs-dm cans compared to the ventum, ptr vent, and velos. What’s your experience between the srbs and ptr?
@@Ertactical any more details on how they compare by chance!? I wonder why the bt srbs-dm didn’t make it on the list, or what the biggest differences are. Particularly how the silencer shop inconel srbs compares to the velos. I’d pay to get an answer to this question
size doesn't matter, price does. I am looking for the least bang for the buck. Looking for 300 blkout - 300 win mag. 556 is a distant 3rd place concern.
I got a Griffin Armament Explorr 300 and am very happy with it. You will be able to find some You Tube reviews that describe the performance very accurately.
Been looking for a .556 can. I have spent nearly 10k in the past two years on supressors and I have not been disappointed. Channels like this have made it money well spent. Any suggestions on the .556 that still alludes me, let us all know. Thanks!
Look Radical Defense CS line. Just got the CS 5 Ti a few weeks ago back based on Rob’s interview with Radical at CanCon. Low back pressure, and low noise at 132 db. They run $849 in Titanium 11 oz., or Haynes 282 16 oz. (for full auto). A true value versus $1500 + tax stamp for other similar offerings. Very pleased with overall performance. Hope this helps.
@@travisweldmaster7815this really could be true. Aren’t they making a longer 5.56 can? If the WB performs as well as it does, in K size, imagine a full length version
If I’m considering one of these prt, or silencerco etc should I be looking for a specific muzzle device? Or is there a adaptor that would work for both?
@@Ertactical I’m trying to find out asap for my next suppressor order. Especially while the stamp promo is still a thing!! So sorry for spamming the question! I just keep hoping for a response to it 😅
Surprised no one is talking about the RD USA LS5... That thing is a monster. Heavy, but wow the decibel performance at both Milspec AND the shooter's ear. JEEEEEEEBUS!
You can get either titanium or inconel for the same price. It can definitely go head to head with the Vent 3. Where the Vent shines, is the deeper tone
I think you are missing out by not recommending a 45K can for pistols/300blk etc. I don't have near as many cans as you, but I've been at this for a looong time (my first 22 can was an AAC Pilot). A 45K can has so much more versatility over a 9 can. If your budget only allows one pistol can, it will be good for 9, 38/357, 41, 44, 45, 10mm, 300blk subs, etc. With the proliferation of threaded lever guns and PCC's in larger calibers, it gives you a TON of flexibility.
Thank you for another great presentation, Rob! Still have my Vent 1 and 3 waiting on approval. I’ll contact CAT and encourage them to help out with an ODB, JL for you to do your thing! I am very interested in the CAT suppressors. 👍🏼👍🏼
@@Ertactical I ended up buying a CAT Alleycat556 Ti over the PTR Vent 3. It was a realllllly hard and realllllllllllllly close decision. But ultimately I went Alleycat because, partially, I had already locked one down at a great price + free work on my rifle; and mainly, because I thought more about my use cases and all the advice I had picked up from avid silencer fans over the years, and for me, who will be running either a 16" rifle or a 14.5" rifle (and maybe a 12.5" at the lowest), the consensus I picked up from everyone was that it was a better use of money on 5.56 to buy as short and light as possible without sacrificing too much performance or durability, instead of trying to chase sound suppression as the most important feature. The Alleycat Ti w/ their Spooky 1 QD system is nearly half the weight of a PTR Vent 3 with a QD muzzle device setup + adapter, and the total overall system length of the Alleycat556 (if I have QD setups for both of them) is over 2 Inches shorter than the Vent 3 w/QD setup. I'm only sacrificing a small amount of muzzle suppression performance and getting the same protection at the shooter's ear (we're talking like a couple dB's difference and only a handful of pa-ms points different)
@@ErtacticalOh, and I forgot to mention that now that I have the CAT Alleycat556 Ti, for .308/.300BLK/7.62x39/etc, I'll be buying the PTR Vent 1, so that way I have a perfect, short 5.56 suppressor, and then I have a godlike suppressor for all those other calibers where having a really short and light silencer isn't really a big deal to me, and ALSO, when I want my 5.56 to be stupidly quiet and don't care if it's long, or I actually WANT my 5.56 to be long and heavy, like doing precision shooting, then i'll put the PTR Vent 1 on that too. I feel like that combo of suppressors is probably the best quality and value you can possibly get at the moment. And then add on a CAT MOB or CAT SC for your 9mm/.300 BLK guns (then you have a 9mm suppressor that also works extremely well for .300BLK subsonics if you want your .300BLK build to be super super short and still super quiet)
@@Ertactical Ah, dangit, youtube ate my comment I wrote. I wrote a lil review on the Alleycat and why I selected it over the Vent 3. But the Tldr is that: I got the Alleycat 556 Ti instead of the Vent 3 because my current guns are 16" and 14.5" and the lowest I may go for now is like 12.5" barrel. But the consensus from all the long time silencer fans I know is that it's not always a great idea to just chase sound reduction above everything else, especially on a longer barrel. So I got the Alleycat556 Ti because the silencer + qd mount is like 9.8oz, whereas a PTR Vent 3 w/ QD setup and adapter is like 6oz heavier and the overall system length ends up being over 2 inches longer than the AC556. Figured I'd be happier with less weight and length instead of a few dB lower
I found the Velos 762 works better for sound suppression than the Velos 556 on a 5.56 rifle, but it is a larger can. If I were to get just one to use on a 5.56 rifle as well as 300 Blackout or 308, it would be the Velos 762 or the PTR Vent 1 (762).
Does a rifle speed gas block allow tuning enough to use a quieter traditional baffle can to give near the same benefit of low back pressure/ gas in the face? Just thing if so could buy a lower cost can and spend more for the gas block and have the adjustability
@@TheSugarWeasel93 I've used my standard baffled and "low back pressure" standard baffling cans on multiple different gas system lengths, buffer weights and calibers and I haven't found an adjustable gas block to be a "massive difference". It made a slight difference but not even close to a flow through. They aren't in the same ballpark imo
@@Ertactical I'm a bit Jealous, that range was awesome. I served at a time when qualifying with your weapon meant shooting at a target out at 25 meters that had different size silhouettes on it that represented what a target would look like at different ranges. This has to be one of the worst practices I've ever witnessed because it allows troops to pass their qualification that shouldn't. You simply must practice with your weapon and become accustomed to shooting the actual distance so you can become familiar with adjusting you rear sight for that distance and you also discover the effects the wind plays. My time there at Ben Avery and the generosity of the people there was key to my successful return from Afghanistan. It's also the first place I was able to shoot a muzzle loader 500 meters, 45 inches of drop!
Hay I am shopping for a 350 Legend & 450 Bushmaster Suppressor . Both firearms are CVA Cascades. Any chance you have a good direction I can look into I would be grateful.
8inch is super short for 556. IF it were me I would never go below 10.5 inch 556 and just get a 300 blackout for anything shorter than 10 (8.5 in and below, the ballistics of the 300BO start to outshine the 556...10.5 and above, the terminal ballistics start to favor 556)....but yes, the inconel version is heavy duty and would be one of the few to handle the high pressure of an 8 inch 556.
If you mean 22lr keep in mind it is very dirty with both lead and unburned powder. If you want to shoot 22lr or other rimfire buy a suppressor that is designed for rimfire ammo. They are much easier to clean.
Hey Rob. Thank you for your helpful videos. I have questions you might have the answer. I am trying to get my very first suppressor between PTR VENT1 and B&T SBRS 762 Ti. Which one do you think more quiet and less back pressure? Thank you again for all your hard work!🫡👍
what B&T can? they have many,,, Rotex 762? IDK i just got one and will start testing this week.. SRBS? dont put a low BP can on a bolt gun.. hope this helps
@@Ertactical the silencer shop exclusive was the one I was thinking. Why not put a low back pressure can in a bolt gun? I was hoping once low back pressure cans got quieter I could get one an use it in multiple platforms.
The Vent isn't on silencershop last I checked and its huge and requires cleaning. That's a pass from me. I'm very surprised you didn't put a polonium on the list. My polo was my 18th can and even though I own way more expensive stuff, I think it's the best sounding one.
This pushed me to buy the Velos k today. I have the regular Velos and the 762 version and they are amazing. Was hesitant on the k version because it seemed like not a greats trade off as the performance (from sick data) seems to be much worse for only a small trade off on weight and length. But I needed a LBP can for 14.5”+ rifles and need it to survive mag dumps from a machine gun. Your review helped sway me. Also I’m pretty invested in the ASR system and Sico warranty makes it a no brainer. People shilling for CAT have probably never had to send a can in for warranty.
@@johnadams673 CAT is a brand stateside that's owned by a lab who do consulting and design work using IP from a German corporation in the natural gas, additive manufacturing, and government contracting space. The lab uses CAT to sell their own products. They share a 3D printing OEM with CGS, and CGS finishes for them for NFA compliance and handles civ distribution and MIL/LE sales through their agency dealer network.
this is what we have found too. SS seems to be the point of sales for them and we have been working with them to get a few and its a slow process. if it happens
I have one, and it is a great can for sound and concussion suppression, but it does have a lot of backpressure. I tend to use it on my 9mm PCC's and on AR's that I don't have to tune. For my AR's that gas me out or would require tuning with the 36M, I use my Velos 762, but it's not as quiet as the 36M. I am seriously considering getting the PTR Vent 762 as my next can. I suspect it'll have the sound signature of the 36M with the reduced backpressure of the Velos on my ARs in 5.56 and 300 Blackout (although it can't be used on a 9mm barrel).
@ZaneDouglas1 That's good to know. Mine JUST got its tax stamp and out of suppressor jail. I'm excited to try it out. I'll be honest, though: I'm not impressed with the baffles and the weight. But, I have to go shoot it before I judge it. From you, it sounds like it might do pretty well at suppression, and I can adjust my gas block, buffer weight, charging handle, drill forward facing relief holes into the receiver, and assist buffer spring tension to reduce blowback. I'm not my impressed with its baffle design and weight. The baffle design is REALLY outdated, especially considering this is silencerco's "newest" design and the weight is really heavy. I understand that it weighs what it weighs because they built it for full auto, duty use, but still, for a "latest and greatest" design, I feel like they're a bit behind. That being said, I haven't shot it yet. Sounds to me like it's a pretty good Silencer based on what you're saying.
@@natew.-victoryorvalhalla4571 It is indeed heavy, but I realized I don't haul it around in the woods, I just use it on the range, so weight has become a non-issue for me. It's a tad too heavy for my wife to shoot any more than a few rounds though. I'm not at all concerned about the baffle design... it works and it works well at suppression and is durable. Since this is not a can that can be disassembled for cleaning, baffle design is a non issue. If I ever need to clean it I'll just use a solution such as with Breakthrough Clean Technologies Suppressor Cleaner, Huxwrx Suppressor Sauce, SchleTek B&T Suppressor Cleaner, or Ballistol Suppressor Cleaner.
Interesting selection. My all-time favorite in the #1 slot is the Dead Air Mask. It is a .22LR and it is the most fun that can be had with a suppressor. My #2 would be the CGS Mod9 - It is a 9mm/300blk subs and with it on a .380 it is back-yard quiet. (with a large yard) My #3 for rifle is CGS Hyperion - It is a good .30cal can, but the downside is it uses the Sig 25 degree taper threaded mount. It will direct thread if your barrel is a big enough diameter, but if not, it needs an adapter which runs around $85, so that is a detractor for it, which keeps it from getting further up my favorites list. I only own a half-dozen models, but of all mine, those would be my top picks.
Rob, I think the audio channels are messed up, I'm only getting the left track here.

Their retail price is wayyyy too high, but like you said, they likely will come down at some point to compete (and if they do, they'll take a huge market share).
def love the 9mm PTR on sub guns, I am not really into putting cans on pistols.
Curious why you didn't include KAC or SF suppressors in this review -- I would submit -- these are better -- in every way for the end user. Or... are these on the list to be reviewed in the future?
I have SF cans, but i don't like em. i have no KAC cans. I did chat with them and maybe ill revisit them.
What’s your experience between the srbs and ptr?
hey man! same gun club! yea i too am in love with the SRBS line. thanks for sharing

Really would like to know what that game changing can is gonna be. Apparently it checks all the boxes of what a can should be for the most part.

@@travisweldmaster7815this really could be true. Aren’t they making a longer 5.56 can? If the WB performs as well as it does, in K size, imagine a full length version
can't say, but i should have one in about 30 days and it will be announced at shot, in Jan.. Ill keep you all posted as best I can.. Nope not a CAT
Appreciate the informative videos brother Semper Fi 🤙✌👊
thanks brother, glad you liked the video and thank you for the support!
If I’m considering one of these prt, or silencerco etc should I be looking for a specific muzzle device? Or is there a adaptor that would work for both?
Great video, thank you!
Would you recommend the Velos LBP 556k over the Hux flow 556k? Specifically for a LH shooter with a 16” AR? Thanks!
great Q, I don't feel Hux is very quiet so id do the Velos

Surprised no one is talking about the RD USA LS5... That thing is a monster. Heavy, but wow the decibel performance at both Milspec AND the shooter's ear. JEEEEEEEBUS!
We have some RD cans on the way for testing, stay tuned!
RD needs to send it to Pew!
You can get either titanium or inconel for the same price. It can definitely go head to head with the Vent 3. Where the Vent shines, is the deeper tone

3 RD cans are now here.. testing will begin today , i think
I think I'm sold on the Vent 1 for mostly 5.56 use.

Got my Vent 1 approved and finally got here on Saturday. Can’t wait to try it on an AR 308, 5.56, and 300blk!
You'll love it!
@@Ertactical it is my new favorite cam on 5.56. It was a head turner at the range on a 16” BCM MK2.
Thanks for the recommendation, we appreciate you taking time to provide feedback. We’ll keep it in mind for future videos.
yup, but first we would need to have a chat about Caliber choice.
Thank you for another great presentation, Rob! Still have my Vent 1 and 3 waiting on approval. I’ll contact CAT and encourage them to help out with an ODB, JL for you to do your thing! I am very interested in the CAT suppressors. 👍🏼👍🏼

How does the CAT WB compare to the SilencerCo Scythe Ti?
cat makes good cans but we don't have any for constant testing, I don't want to give half advice
Thanks Rob,
You mentioned something that made me wonder....what 30cal suppressors work "better" on 556 than their own 556 version of the suppressor?
I found the Velos 762 works better for sound suppression than the Velos 556 on a 5.56 rifle, but it is a larger can. If I were to get just one to use on a 5.56 rifle as well as 300 Blackout or 308, it would be the Velos 762 or the PTR Vent 1 (762).
Does a rifle speed gas block allow tuning enough to use a quieter traditional baffle can to give near the same benefit of low back pressure/ gas in the face? Just thing if so could buy a lower cost can and spend more for the gas block and have the adjustability
No. Not even close. Using an adjustable gas block or BCG does help, but its little improvements.
It depends on the silencer and gas system length. It can make a massive improvement in some cases.
good Q! I would say there would be no diff or very little diff however a new rifle i am testing is making me re consider that.
@@Jez-p9k meanwhile I can hear the gun getting quieter with every click of the agb. Different guns i guess
Are the cat silencers less back pressure than the velos, and ventum based on your recent experience?

The range behind him reminds me of the one North of Phoenix
Ben Avery? It is
@Ertactical I competed there more than 20 years ago. Thanks for putting that up.
@ great range! I am teaching there 5days a week

Is B&T SRBS556-DM INCONEL good for my aero precision M4E1 8” upper ? I just bought one as my 1st can after watching your video for it.

Any interest in reviewing CGS silencers? I heard CAT and CGS are made by the same company
we have found the same. they have an odd set up
The Vent isn't on silencershop last I checked and its huge and requires cleaning. That's a pass from me. I'm very surprised you didn't put a polonium on the list. My polo was my 18th can and even though I own way more expensive stuff, I think it's the best sounding one.
No AB raptor?
This pushed me to buy the Velos k today. I have the regular Velos and the 762 version and they are amazing. Was hesitant on the k version because it seemed like not a greats trade off as the performance (from sick data) seems to be much worse for only a small trade off on weight and length. But I needed a LBP can for 14.5”+ rifles and need it to survive mag dumps from a machine gun. Your review helped sway me. Also I’m pretty invested in the ASR system and Sico warranty makes it a no brainer. People shilling for CAT have probably never had to send a can in for warranty.
Thank you! glad you liked the vid =)
CAT is a design company overseas. They license their designs to CGS to acrually make and sell the cans state side
Thanks for sharing.
Hopefully we’ll have some of their cans soon, initial tests were positive but we need more hands on time. thanks for watching🍻
this is what we have found too. SS seems to be the point of sales for them and we have been working with them to get a few and its a slow process. if it happens
Also, does anyone have a SilencerCo Omega 36m? And, if so, what is your opinion on it?
(with a large yard)
My #3 for rifle is CGS Hyperion - It is a good .30cal can, but the downside is it uses the Sig 25 degree taper threaded mount. It will direct thread if your barrel is a big enough diameter, but if not, it needs an adapter which runs around $85, so that is a detractor for it, which keeps it from getting further up my favorites list.
I only own a half-dozen models, but of all mine, those would be my top picks.
you should check out th 22 lr vid.. we do mention that mask
