The festival where 45 thousand people left because of how heavy they were. It was a French mainstream festival and they were one of if not the only metal band. Also on top of that all the people leaving made them play even heavier.

i mean they were invited for the first time in vieilles charrues festival ,a rock , folk , music festival , because the organizers they were like , hey it would be cool to be more open , and have some metal in the festival , so Gojira came in , national pride right for us french , , and they opened with lizard skin ahhaha and then clone , !! , half of the audience left .that night.
And straight after saying "bonne soirée" they went to play Clone. Exactly that one which is "Welcome to the Upside Down".

This is a Reason why Gojira is just top notch, im still a little mixed with their overall catalog, but they can surely kill it live, if they want to.. this period of time i belive they did some very good performances, well dont misunderstand me they still do, just in newer Gojira its more like half of it that really slays to me, mostly because of the song itself.. but these boys can make you jump, if they want to.. Flying Whales, the art of dying, léfant´sausage.. there is a lot of songs after this, that is absolute killers live to..
its still a band in my bucket list to see live, cause even i dont like all stuff on new albums, yes they kill it live..

You're absolutely right, on this song in particular (also on wisdom comes and others from the 2 first albums) they really nicely digested their Morbid Angel influence and put their own grooves and twist on it. They used to say back then M.A. was one of their main influences/favorite bands, particularly the Domination/Formulas/Gateways time frame.
It's hard to go wrong with them. Hate to keep making y'all go back to em' but hey,...what kind of world is a world without more Gojira reactions...not one I wanna' live in, 🤣... I don't know, they're awesome though.

Y’all are my favorite reactors and I love how y’all appreciate gojira which in my opinion is the greatest band in the world (10 years ago, you’d have to put a gun to my head to say Metallica wasn’t the greatest band in the world) but y’all seem pretty low energy in this reaction and this is in my top 2 of gojira songs. Idk. Were y’all really tired when y’all did this reaction’
