I don't know why Gojira is so accessible for non metalheads, when it's one of the heaviest sounds you can get. I keep introducing people to metal through them, and I'm damn sure they'll never stop enjoying it since I didn't either. This band brings so much tribal and raw vibes, it's a blessing.
Same here man! All my non metal head friends love gojira
While they're very heavy, their music is also very groovy and often very melodic.
Also the vocals, while harsh, are often just a sort of distorted speech rather than more classical growls.
It's so intense, it's interesting, gets you moving, and you don't feel like you're being screamed at aimlessly (at least not as much as with other bands with harsh vocals)
I was going to replay until I read Scott Robinson’s comment. He put it perfectly. And though Joe’s vocal style may be ruff he sings in perfect pitch the whole time adding to the melodies they implement.

They bring so much fucking raw emotion. I get it 100%. Not gonna lie, I cried when I saw Devin Townsend live for the first time. It was a more intimate, smaller club/bar type setting and he blew the fucking roof off the place. I lost it when he played “Deep Peace”. Witnessing that live was like a fucking religious experience. I wasn’t the only one tearing up either 😆

I saw them when they were playing the from Mars to Sirius album in its entirety, I was literally shaking after. they caused a high I had to come down from by just sitting on the curb for about a half hour. They play with such beautiful passion it really tugs at your heart strings.

and can hold 2000 to 4.000 people ( i lived in London in the 80's - 90's and seen gigs in most of them ) , wich creates this "intimate" feeling wich i think is great !!! - now , this is gonna be my eternal

I saw Gojira at Knotfest on Aug. 20 in Toronto and Gojira was amazing!!! I had only heard a couple songs from them beforehand. I was there for Slipknot and they delivered. But since then I've listed to Gojira everyday since the concert. They were loud, they were heavy and they were amazing!!! Looking forward to hearing everything they have to offer. Hope to see them live again in the future.

Awesome reaction from your wife! I'm a woman that's absolutely obsessed with Gojira and I love seeing women react to them! And you guys are right in wanting to see them in a small venue, I saw them a couple months ago in Raleigh North Carolina in a tiny venue (flew cross country to see the show) and they blew my doors off, utterly and completely.
Karen Copeland I took my son to see them in Charlotte the next night in a place that holds maybe 300 people. What a great experience! Got my ass handed to me lol!! My immediate thought was I’m either too old or not in shape for metal shows anymore. But I had to take my 16 year old up front! Kudos!

Dylan talks about fucking up and showing up when Gojira was almost over at the Metallica concert and same thing in Bonner Springs. Gojira was basically empty because everyone wanted Slipknot, yet Gojira killed the shit out of us and it was almost 100 or close to it. Daylight, night time, stolen gear, don't matter. Gojira murder it every time.
