- In this video I react to ( / @tommacdonaldofficial ) Tom MacDonald’s video: "Facts" - Tom MacDonald (feat. Ben Shapiro). Discourse around the topics of government, morality, religion and more are usually heated and destructive. How can we orient our goals for better outcomes?
Here is the original video: • "Facts" - Tom MacDonal...
Let me know in the comments what you think!
If you would like to hear more from me about religion and the afterlife check out my other channel / @offthelefteye . Here is a recent video about government in the afterlife called “Heaven Has More Than One Government”:
• Heaven Has More Than O...
First time watching one of your videos. Appreciate you trying to come at this topic in kindness, but I feel like you might be missing the point a bit. The whole "idc if I offend you" "facts don't care how you feel" "I won't ever say I'm sorry" lines aren't meant as divisive blanket statements. They're speaking specifically about "Facts." How ridiculous it is that people get so offended over objective reality. It's not just them being mean because it's Left vs Right. The point of the song is to defend the truth and call out how the Left forces the culture to deny reality through emotional manipulation. They're not genuinely saying that overall there's no desire for unity or kindness. Just that they won't apologize specifically for speaking the truth.
Hey welcome and thanks for watching! And yes I hear the point you’re making
Tom McDonald's music often starts conversations and hopefully better understanding thru interaction. #HOG UK
I think you are being very nice. But, You are missing the point. As a Christian (as your title says) there is absolute truth. We need to stand on that. Jesus stood up for his beliefs to the point he was murdered for it. I would say he offended some people.
I hear what you’re saying, thanks for sharing your thoughts here
Two things: 1.) You probably should've listened to your gut and not reacted to this. 2.) Did Swedenborg bear your sins on the cross?
The song is a counter narrative pushback to a culture that has no problem offending, deriding and overrunning and dissent to it's hedonistic narcissism. Why is it that some who name the Name, are so desperate to silence any sort of dissonance to an increasingly demanding culture that hates Christians and their God, and/or the political beliefs they associate with it? This song is no more or less offensive than the cultural feces continuously being shoveled on and down the throats of people who consider themselves faithful and patriotic.
Excellent points given, succinct & inclusive.
👏
Nice. Clarity and kindness in conflict situations.. such a useful skill. Good way forward. Modelling, as you say. 👌
I appreciate your kind words and clarity.
Thank you!
needed this
Thanks for this. If more people heard what Swedenborg talked about, maybe they wouldn't be so grumpy about being right.
Agreed!
I disagree with this philosopher. His views are sophomoric.
@@moffprof02 Interesting. Are you referring to Swedenborg or Curtis?
@@mtcstyle
Both
@@moffprof02 Gotcha. What do you find sophomoric about them?
Walking through a culture war battlefield without stepping on a landmine is nearly impossible these days, but you achieved it. Well done. Thanks for demonstrating how it's done.
What a dichotomy Curtis 🤦♂️. I have to give you credit for going through those weeds. But if he’s kind of saying what you’re saying, people will hopefully understand it coming from your calm approach rather than the angry tone of his.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions
Yes, unintended consequences.
I love Swedenborg! Thank you for teaching all about his writings about heaven and explanations of bible scriptures. It has changed my life and given me great joy and understanding. I gave everyone at my 40 year class reunion info on off the left eye and I had a large class of over 500 students of which at least 100 attended. I hope they all check it out. Thank you all for the hard work and care y’all take with the subject. ❤🙏❤
That’s so great!! I’m so glad to hear that Swedenborg’s message has changed your life in such a positive way. Thanks for spreading the word at your class reunion!
Rap isn't for me. I love what you said about it all.
Hang Over Gang in the house! This old Christian vet loves Tom and Nova's music. Jordan Peterson did a 50+ minute psychological breakdown that was amazing. As for your reaction? Well, I'm happy the Lord made a lot of different Christians, with a lot of different jobs. Because as a fourth generation Christian vet, if our freedoms were in your hands, they would be lost. Just my opinion.
Curtis, you are out of depth in critiquing this song. YOU do not care if YOUR words or beliefs offend others so why can't someone else state that? Tom speaks much truth in his videos WITHOUT cursing or using sexually explicit language or speaking of drugs or alcohol. Do you have ANY idea what type of lyrics and lifestyles are portrayed in the the usual rap songs?
Ehhh....I didn't think Tom was claiming, with a broad paint🖌️ that it's okay to offend, that he just doesn't care...
His phrase, 'If you ask me for my pronouns... Etc... I will disrespect you."
Meaning.... ask T to give or use anyone's pronouns... He won't.
He knows the woke person will be offended that he isn't playing that silly game - and IN THAT CONTECT... this is where Tom doesn't care.
In real life, he's a respectful person, son, father, friend. The whole disrespect or offend [you] is in context around the forcing of our speech to others.. coming from woke leaders.
He wants freedom of speech etc, but more importantly, he will not pander to 'crazy'.
He, like most of us, just want honesty, unity in Real Facts & stop cancelling free speech only from one side - bring back fair!!
(And bring back healthy morals etc)
Thanks for the context!
I agree with you but I also kind of agree with them { perhaps because I don't have any political leanings , I don't need to be republican or democratic to be human and empathetic to someone } maybe that in itself is a political view but whatever .
Which side are [you] on? Would be nice if 'it is for love of the human race...' (as you basically put it.)
In that case... most or many rap/hip-hop lyrics are for the dark side - sons to thugs & girls stripping...total hedonism, sad life that addicts followers to it.
Tom has cleaned up his life, his health and now his message.
And for the life of me, why hate him for this?
(Psst... cuz the Labels' pockets get fatter if sex & violence stay!)
Hope T n B stay safe.
What Tom is reacting against here are the people in the media and politics who use “niceness culture” as a weapon to silence any opposition, and just how ludicrous it’s become. We _should_ be able to disagree respectfully, but that assumes both sides are arguing in good faith, which too often is _not_ true these days. Tom’s a rapper, but he keeps his lyrics clean. And yet, because much of his music is political and points out the insanity of current political/cultural discourse, challenging narratives, he is labeled as more “offensive” than rappers who glorify materialism, violence, drugs, crime, and sexual degeneracy. When a nation gets to a place where people care more about supposed hurt feelings than the ability face hard reality and have serious discussions that lead to solutions, well that nation is in trouble.
Appreciate your thoughtful commentary!
Perfectly said & laid out 👏
The not caring if I offend you bit, is meant for those people triggered by facts or insignificant things. I alway say that I’m only responsible for what I say, not what you hear.
And when it comes to the identity game. I just tell people I do not participate in the fantasies of people I’m not romantically involved with.
A neo-fascist and and another neo-fascist meet on a music video.
This philosophy you bring up is just basic passivism for the sake of passivism. There is a time and place to care if one offends and other times when it is necessary.
God created evil. He gave people a choice and he knew what choice people would make because he knows all and whatnot.
I, as a Christian, would take the guy you talk about and replace him with Scripture. It will tell you that the heart of man is evil, who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9 In today's society, there are people who are offended by the color of the sky. So, no we shouldn't care if they get offended. Facts don't care about your feelings. Facts are objective while feelings are subjective. I don't go out of my way to offend people but facts and honesty has a way of doing just that to snowflakes. Read Scripture.
From "Id like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony" 50 years ago to this sort of rubbish! Well done Curtis for getting a spiritual message out this so called "song".
It rubbish?
This sort of rubbish??? Do some of you people live under a rock? Do you have ANY idea of the actual rubbish that is marketed as music? Before I had a 'meetin with Jesus', I USED to be IN the world. Do NOT assume the things, music, or types of music that God uses to reach people.
I really think you are missing the point. mr Shapiro is very religious. listen to the words again
Your christian faith offends half the country. Do you care?
🙋
this song was supposed to be a troll....
A fun funny song
y'all take things so seriously 😡
why can't you all just have fun and laugh 😊
you literally sucked the fun right out of the song

Guess I tend to do that 😂
