A great analogy is that religion/bible/scripture is a treasure map to God. But studying the map every day will not take you to the treasure. You have to walk the road in the map, and fight the things that will distract you from walking towards the destination. Don't believe those who say that they will get you to the destination, or that you have to say certain prayers or incantations to get there, or that you just need to believe that the map is true and not walk the path. Don't believe those who say there is no treasure, just because they never found it, or didn't even look at the map. You need to check the map and walk the path yourself.
I love Ricky Gervais, and I love that he asks uncomfortable questions. I think everyone is on their own spiritual journey and you have to come to God in your own way. Like I told my brother when we talked about God, 'I don't have to prove anything to you, I'm not a recruiter, this isn't a membership drive.'
I’ve seen Ricky get really nasty with people of faith & literally ridicule them for it , but the person being ridiculed and being told they are silly dumb or gullible all they have to say to Ricky “I’m not going to ridicule your for not being able to drive a car or have a drivers license” Which is correct as he doesn’t have a license or ability to drive a car…. Not being nasty or vengeful but would love to see someone retaliate with that response !!
The majority of religions are abusive in management. Dont smirk & say "only in dark ministries". It is the norm sadly. Oh & the fact you rely on children to independently believe in god is just odd.
