  • In this video I react to 2014s groundbreaking film “Interstellar”. In this scene Joseph Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), Dr. Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway), and Professor Romilly (David Gyasi) weigh their choice between two different futures for mankind using scientific reasoning and love for someone dear. Is analytical, empirical reasoning the best path for making life’s big choices, or are emotions and relationships more important. In this video we discuss both.

One of my favorite movies, and such a great scene to discuss! At the end, love was ultimately how Cooper was able to relay the quantum data from the black hole back to Murph on Earth. That would also be a great scene to analyze I think.
Thank you always Curtis! You and the OTLE crew are an immense blessing. I always look forward to more! -Tristan

How amazing it is, how the things and events of "this life" all seems to play out at times. Firstly, I'm (here we go, already... our "me" perspectives, born out in conversation and responses such as this) utterly blown away by how virtually every single concept Curtis generally speaks toward is exACTLY the considerations I've had for many years. Particularly here, matters of "emotion", and it's relevance toward evidence that there's SOMEthing more (MUCH more) than purely stochastic, materialistic, God-less, happenstance in the nature of reality and our personal, very existence.
Add to that, in fact, that "Hard Problem of Consciousness" (I'm aware of what that is... Wikipedia is good 😄) and the picture seems to unfold toward even more realization that at LEAST "SOMEthing" whimsically beyond merely materialistic consideration is at play here.
To harp a bit on the "me" thesis, here I am now (wherever I am, whatever I'm doing that you can't see or know... actually I'm on the road, in Lafayette, Louisiana, in a hotel room, waiting to hop back on the (tour) bus (home sweet 2nd home for years!) to leave for tomorrow's show... see my Twitter/X account, @APieceOfSteve or facebook.com/steve.farmer.311 ), myself recently realizing I "might" be discovering soon that my own life-journey could be drawing nigh (some medical stuff is arising after my recent yearly physical.. I've been referred to a hematologist/oncologist... but I've always been fit and healthy! WHAT?? MEEE??... yep, my turn in life to deal with "stuff", perhaps.. not gonna jump the gun here yet, we'll see).
So here I am, real thought and consideration toward the reality that we each (every one of our "me" selves) really will die. This body, these fingers that are hitting this phone keypad, ultimately becoming "lifeless"... and THEN what of "me", this "consciousness", that nature of consciousness that's SO allusive to purely materialistic understanding?? One fact is absolute... we're NOT "staying here". None of us. If my time ends up being sooner than I had anticipated throughout life, I want to become truly ok with that, through my own insatiable interest in these matters, aaall the "pondering" I've done personally though the years, that "pondering" leading myself to wanting to tell and convey to others that there's MUCH more to what matters about us than the mere playing out of our current (utterly temporary) life path. Oh.. to.. know.. the.. real.. truth.. of.. the.. whole.. matter!!
But the collaborative considerations here, what I'm hearing from Curtis as I mentioned earlier, sure are a good sign toward perhaps complete veracity of there indeed being more than just this 3-dimensional space-time "reality(?)"!! I have many relatives and friends who've left this realm already. We all do. Do they truly still "exist"?? Will I... when my time comes, whether is does end up being sooner than I expected? (OR later. It doesn't matter, because it IS coming. This life is a quick little jaunt, regardless). I suppose it couldn't hurt for me to FINALLY actually purposely read through "Heaven and Hell" (if not even more books/"writings"), instead of always relying on being spoon fed by OTLE! (Sound familiar, Christian, "Bible-believing" pew-sitter? 😉 I was guilty, too, for many years). And to simply end my typically blabby spouting off (it's ok to call this spade a spade! 😂) I'm thankful for moments when I think things like... "ok, I'm gonna watch this and see if Curtis has anything very specific here that's 'for me' here in the particular potential existential life-crisis". And BAM! Talk about delivery of what I was hoping for when I hit "play"! I'm wow'd... and blessed and thankful! With (simply) the two considerations discussed here in particular... love... and consciousness... it's sounding like that final breath, whenever it does come, may in fact end up actually being the First Breath! My hope runs high! Blessings and much love to all in our journey! 💞
