The outro might just be the best music I’ve ever heard in my life, it’s just the most catchy, perfect melody and instrumentation imaginable. Gotta do Virtue by The Voidz. Julian’s experimentation on that album influenced a lot of the sounds on this one. Also, in my humble opinion, this is the best Strokes album
Would prefer to see Tyranny, personally think it’s a more complete album and i love how they went all in on the experimental sounds/melodies. But I wouldn’t be complaining at a Virtue reaction!

Surprised that your dad didn’t know about the existence of such an influential band to so many other rock/indie rock bands born in this century! You just revealed a much better version of the world to him, love the concept of this channel
The Strokes are just such a fun band to follow. This album especially, every track just makes me both happy and sad and stirs up feelings of nostalgia and desperation. Such a versatile fun album. Favorite tracks are The Adults Are Talking, Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus and Why Are Sundays So Depressing. So full and well mixed! This was an amazing reaction, love the true appreciation for music
Connor can I just say you have excellent taste in music. I love basically every album you’ve shown your dad so far, only one I hadn’t heard was Father John Misty and have had that on repeat since I watched the video
Is This It and Room on Fire were the albums that really got me into music and while First Impressions and on kind disappointed me, those first two are still among my all time favorite, so I don't say this lightly, but I truly think The New Abnormal is the best album The Strokes have ever put out. The music world wasn't poised for TNA the same way as it was in 2001 for Is This It, but TNA is peak song-writing, lyricism and creativity for the Strokes. It's fantastic.
@@jacobpullen6949 It was my friend’s favorite Strokes album back in HS too :) I think there’s some cool tracks, and even if I don’t totally love the style of it, that it’s a good stepping stone to some later Voidz sounds (feel the same way about Angles). I would rank FIOE higher if they cut 4-5 tracks from the mid/back of the album ehich to me just sound super uninspired, but there’s still plenty to like.
I still think Room On Fire is their best album, but The New Abnormal comes sooooo damn close. The fact that we waited 7 years for a new album and they dropped an arguable masterpiece is so fulfilling as a fan.
@@inordirectional It’s probably my 4th favorite, after the big 3 everyone talks about, but I put it just a little bit below those. I know that everyone thinks that “The Adults are Talking” is one of the best-but to me, it really is one of the greatest of all time. Loving the interpol record in the back! I think the strokes would be a great passage into a band like interpol and all the dark post punk shit that’s right up my alley.
Interpol and The Strokes are my two favorite artists. Both formed around the same time in NYC. I’m only 30 so I’ve always been on the younger side of the fan base, but also Tyler The Creator’s Flower Boy, Igor, and CMIYGL are some of my favorite new albums by an artist my age.

@@Joy_Dvzn yea back when MTV was all the rage Interpol and The Strokes had a rivalry with their debut albums Is This It and Turn on the Bright Lights. I didn't expect such a comeback at this point, I'd argue it's one of the best things they've done if not their finest. Not a single bad song in there.
The best way to explain the sound of the strokes with the blend of all instruments and the voice of Julian Casablancas is like wearing that pair of jeans that already broken in, and you just love to use on the regular basis

The thought that the drums on The Adults Are Talking are electronic is an understandable one, but Fabrizio is just so precise that they sound a little electronic. However, as far as I know, the whole album is all acoustic drums. Super impressive. And the solo breakdown in Selfless has become one of my absolute favorites. What’s funny about him wishing Julian’s voice was mixed higher is that this album had him way more up front and clear than the others and I’m pretty sure Julian was resistant to that decision. Glad he compromised though because it really suits this album
12:30 literally me every time while listening any The Strokes song
I've never listened to this album or the strokes, but I knew Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus almost by heart and I was really confused why. Then I realized it was in the newest MLB The Show, and I played that game for hundreds of hours lmao. great video though, enjoy seeing you guys explore music together.
This reminded me of Julian's feature on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories- now that would be a great album to react to.
Your dad was right about The Cars influence. Doing Candy-O would be cool. Son reacts to dads favorites is a neat mix on your format.
Your dad was also right about the Billy Idol touches on Bad Decisions. It’s basically a mix between New Order and Billy Idol.
and Modern English’s I Melt With You
Yep he got it right away, they even covered the cars in 2011 at Glasto
They even give billy idol song writing credit for bad decisions
Watching someone experience The Strokes for the first time was a real treat. I think we all recall feeling exactly the same way 20+ years ago
Never thought that Julian Casablancas and Jordan Peterson would have such great screen chemistry
I LOVE that we're back in the rock world, where this channel kicked off with Radiohead. I feel rock is more in Kevin's wheelhouse, and so his enthusiasm on this ep was contagious! TNA was maybe my favorite album of last year, so I absolutely loved this reaction
Nice. Yeah i think hiphop is more fun to watch bc its a completely new world for him.
@@stijn8588 yea I agree with u but also there's a new world to him when it comes to the strokes type of music. It's truly amazing seeing him get mindblown by all kinds of genres he hasn't heard before.
The guitars ‘going back and forth’ in the adults are talking is reflective of adults going back and forth in a conversation
🤯
lol
How incredibly perceptive…
Best reaction channel already, we need an IGOR reaction.
Yes
They’re doing Flower Boy before Igor😔😔
I'd do Flower Boy first, CMIYGL, and then Igor. Just so Kevin can appreciate better the impact and switch Tyler made by dropping something like Igor
No
@@davidj.r.6657 completely agree with that
16:25 that was completely intentional, Billy Idol got writing credits on the song. It's an homage about the music you grow up with, and is referenced in Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus "And the 80s bands, oh where did they go?"
I'm literally having the worst day of my life and ended up here and that dude's dad in the shower pumping his products made me laugh so hard that I actually cried
sameee
This is one of the best mixed albums of all time
rick. rubin.
Keep covering the different genres. It’s so cool to see The Strokes on this channel!
Gotta do Virtue by The Voidz. Julian’s experimentation on that album influenced a lot of the sounds on this one. Also, in my humble opinion, this is the best Strokes album
Strong Agree, they Definitely need to review virtue
Tyranny gang rise up (Human Sadness should be a religion)
Need a Phrazes For The Young reaction
@@moonillusions832 true. Human Sadness is a masterpiece.
Would prefer to see Tyranny, personally think it’s a more complete album and i love how they went all in on the experimental sounds/melodies. But I wouldn’t be complaining at a Virtue reaction!
I absolutely love this album. Selfless is one of my favorite songs by them
Your dad has a very good hearing, one of the best channels of music reactions I have seen, you should show him Sticky Fingers. another great band of these times.
This album has such detailed nuances with the chords. The mixing style is so subtle but fascinating
Surprised that your dad didn’t know about the existence of such an influential band to so many other rock/indie rock bands born in this century! You just revealed a much better version of the world to him, love the concept of this channel
Man I hope you guys get to go through at least one more Strokes album, hopefully two!
Is this it a must and further down the road I guess Room on Fire would be nice too
The Strokes are original. But they have countless influences written all over their sleeves. Since I am an old person, I love it.
Hey Bloopy !!!
I actually really like First Impressions and I feel like I’m the only one.
@@jacobpullen6949 It's my favorite strokes album. :)
Tracks like Juicebox, Visions of Division, Heart in a cage, and Razorblade are all among my very favorute Strokes tracks. I really like the heavier, on edge style it goes for a lot.
Its so cool seeing your dad dissect the songs as they play and look genuinely excited about them is awesome. This is easily one of my favorite albums ever and by The Strokes. Good stuff you all! 🤝
We NEED another strokes reaction before the year is over!!!!!
I know that everyone thinks that “The Adults are Talking” is one of the best-but to me, it really is one of the greatest of all time. It fills me so much nostalgia, and the guitar between verses sounds like people talking back and forth. I relate to it a lot and it just reminds me of my own experiences. I used to listen to it on loop everyday, all day, during high school; really made me feel something.
Gotta give Random Access Memories by Daft Punk a listen.
An immaculately produced album with an incredible Julian Casablancas performance on it.
please!
Instant Crush been stuck in my head recently.
that album is full of bangers
@@johannmayer9932 touch is my favorite!!
@@johannmayer9932 touch and instant crush are soooo good its crazy
Love this album. You guys gotta do Turn On The Bright Lights soon
I swear you guys have grown so quickly. it only feels like a few months ago I subbed at 7k and now you're at 143k. I see why, these videos are so good
Thx Eoin ❤️🙏
Julians ''deep throat'' singing gives me the ''ball shivers''
My favourite band, my favourite voice. Their music is almost like the feeling of nostalgia. Muchas ball shivers.
The first exclusive video I got to watch through the Patreon.
It’s definitely worth subscribing to if anyone is wondering, a lot of stuff is cut and the Patreon version really feels like an entirely different video almost like you’re there with them watching it.
Thanks again for being my favorite channel on RUclips right now! Y’all introduced me and my girlfriend to this album and it’s all we can listen to now. My favorite track is selfless or ode to the Mets!!
During your Silk Sonic reaction, I was so excited seeing The Strokes' album back there, and this time there's Illinois by Sufjan Stevens! Guess we've been through the same indie playlists some years ago lmao
Discovering this channel feels like when I first discovered the strokes. Instantly in love! And I really envy your father and son relationship, so awesome.
Really cool that you picked up on the Frank Ocean connection! “Ivy” was inspired by “Under Control” by The Strokes
Wow I never knew that!
I don't know if anyone noticed the finger drumming the dad did at 6:10 but damn that was sick
this is one of my favourite albums EVER and i did not expect a reaction to this ahhh
Another banger episode. Love this so much man. Introduce your Dad to that Interpol record behind you. I can imagine him really getting into Turn On the Bright Lights
Hearing someone react so positive to your fav bands album is amazing.
The Strokes, Julian and his dad listening The new abnormal, Dad Jokes, this video has everything. Great video!
This is one of my favorite albums of all time, I’m excited to see what’s in store!
@@robertdurie6879 Tyler is one of my favs for sure, they just posted a great reaction to Igor today actually. Love that record so much. Just started collecting vinyl actually and to pimp a butterfly was my first vinyl a got for myself a week ago & im getting three new records for Christmas!!! I’m really excited for, one of them being Igor. By the time Christmas comes around I’ll have 1. TPAB 2. Igor 3. Sunbather by Deafheaven 4. Souvlaki by slowdive.
@@robertdurie6879 if you’re considered a young fan then I wonder what that makes me lmao😰 I’m 19.
It’s funny I always thought of the typical strokes or interpol fan to be a 30 yr old too tbh but now that I think about it you’re right you being born in the early 90s would only make you a kid when interpol came around so maybe interpol fans are more likely to be close or around 40.
I just always had the idea those fanbases consisted of 30 yr old hipster white dudes since all the blogs + music forums + musical critique pages that always fucking praise those albums to death always happen to fit that archetype description lol
@@Joy_Dvzn I just saw the Igor drop today!
@@Joy_Dvzn yea back when MTV was all the rage Interpol and The Strokes had a rivalry with their debut albums Is This It and Turn on the Bright Lights. I’ve been to live shows of Interpol and The Strokes. Everyone was the age of the band members.. but Julian Casablancas and Paul Banks are ageless.
Now when I saw Arctic Monkeys, yea everyone is a millennial. You’re a baby compared to the average Strokes fan, but you are right. I was that millennial hipster who would praise Interpol/The Strokes when I lived in Austin and I’m a classical musician too.
I had so much fun watching Kevin enjoy this album, he didn't see that coming! I never got to it last year and I've only recently listened to it, and it hit me hard. I didn't expect such a comeback at this point, I'd argue it's one of the best things they've done if not their finest. Not a single bad song in there.
6:10 he did a cool ass drum fill with his shoe and hands
The best way to explain the sound of the strokes with the blend of all instruments and the voice of Julian Casablancas is like wearing that pair of jeans that already broken in, and you just love to use on the regular basis
Ode to the Mets might be my favorite strokes song ever, great reaction bros
I see Sufjan’s Illinois in the background! Was gonna reco but didn’t think it was up yr alley!
its so awesome seeing u guys get more comfortable with each other after every video, takes me back to when the amsp reaction popped up in my recommendation page 5 months ago and how much you've evolved ever since
8:20 I cried laughing but also because how awesome yalls relationship is. yall are just genuine freinds having fun
I wake up with it in my head all the time.
