I still remember the night this came out and downloading it immediately. I sat with my jaw dropped listening to the whole thing. It's still my favorite album of all time to this day.
Also, this isn't really, really the whole album. The B sides album has a lot of good stuff. It's actually better than most other bands' regular albums.
The buildup on the "You'll go to hell..." part leading to his held out note on the word "thinking" is a moment that to this day even after hearing the track HUNDREDS of times still gives me incredible tingly feelings. What a song. The thing is, it's more than just the song...it's the performance of masters. In lesser hands, it would NOT be the track it is.
This is definitely my favourite Radiohead album. Every song works so well in the album but also separately as individual songs. It's also I think Radiohead's most accessible album. If people aren't really into Radiohead, I've found putting this album on is a great way to change some minds/introduce them. Also quick side note, In Rainbows from the basement is a masterclass in sound mixing, and live performance. I literally use it to test out new audio hardware!
I wish I could’ve shown my dad Radiohead before he passed, but I never got the chance since I didn’t delve into them until a few years later. Watching this kind of filled a void for me, and I’m so happy to see fathers and their kids rejoicing in the art of music. Keep making these y’all! Absolutely heartwarming.

I envy you for being able to listen to this stuff for the first time! In addition to Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief, Gotta listen to The Bends as well. Came out like two years before OK Computer and is a lot more straightforward, but still amazing. Side note: I think there's a lot of value in listening to all of their albums from the beginning to listen to how the band evolved over time. Pablo Honey is an OK album that I wouldn't put in the same tier as everything that came after it, but it's still worth the listen. Also, don't sleep on The King of Limbs as well as the "From the Basement" performances of In Rainbows and The King of Limbs. Watching them play some of this stuff live will blow your mind. King of Limbs didn't really grab me right away, but watching them play it live (they have two drummers on that album, the drummer from Portishead joined them full time with that album) just blew my mind and really made me appreciate it. Another thing I thought about (can you tell I love Radiohead? lol), there's an old SNL appearance from when they put out Kid A floating around where they played Idioteque and the National Anthem, and it's incredible watching them (particularly Jonny Greenwood) make those sounds live. The dude plays a radio at one point as an instrument, it's unbelievable.
Confessions of a 50yr old man: I actually fell in love with Radiohead because of In Rainbows - I wasnt a big fan prior to this release... I didn't love "creep" so I didn't really stay connected to the band. .... For me it was the WAY they released this album... pay what you want. So I paid $5 and was absolutely amazed by the music composition ... blown away! ... so after this I then discovered all the work they produced ... I do really love KID A but this release .... IN RAINBOWS is my fav simply because this is my personal discovery album of the band
"Nude" is the first Song i knew from Radiohead. Found it by accident on Spotify and fell in Love with it instantly. I never heard such Music and it opened an whole new World to me. I showed it to all my friends and Family. A half year later i first thougt: "What other Stuff are these Guys doing?" And then I fell in Love with the best Band on this Planet.

@@bill8383 agreed, Radiohead will run out eventually and the logical next step would be side projects including the band's solo work and collaborations (could do a special on Thom alone, with the PJ Harvey song, UNKLE, etc)
Reckoner instantly became one of my top 3 Radiohead songs the first time I heard it. I also sent it to my dad via email, knowing he wasn’t a huge fan of Yorke’s vocal style. At first he wrote back something indifferent, like “the guitar is pretty” or something. Then 5 minutes later he wrote back “I’m listening to this over and over, wow, I love this.” I think this is my favorite Radiohead album, stripping them of all sentimental value and only considering the music. After a fucking balls rad run of albums they went and got even balls radder. Thanks for yet another awesome video.
Nude is VULNERABLE, when I hear Nude I don't think about wearing a nice tux, that's artificial. The feelings I got were intimacy with somebody who's long in the past. It's like a fleeting moment but memorialized in a song
@@maquettemusic1623 very true, but putting on nice clothing isn't being nude. Still to each their own, love watching different interpretations for songs

Yorke says stuff like that all the Time lol..melody was King even in kid a..songs like motion picture soundtrack, how to disappear completely are quite simple rhythmically but great melodies.
@@faraz-m3v oh for sure.. I'm saying Thom says just about anything in the moment. His favorite track off Kid A and from Radiohead's discography really is HTDC and is quite a haunting melodic treat.

My father loved music. He passed just before I got into music as well. Watching you two react to some of my favorite music has brought me immense joy and a tear to my eye. Instantly my favorite reaction channel. Don't stop with these fantastic videos. Thank you.
Hi Stef. Our condolences on the loss of your father. We are so happy we can bring some joy to your through these videos. Take care & thank you 🙏 for watching
Makes me really happy to see someone older than me having exactly the same reaction to In Rainbows as I did when I first listened to it when I was 15. This is a weirdly nostalgic and heartwarming channel
I'm not surprised by your newfound success : Your exact way of making this format is what I always wanted to see. A chill, stripped-back listening session with no pause in the middle of a track, with good video and audio quality (both your voices and the record playback), not overly long because you do not dwell on analyzing the tracks or anything. It's just super clean, digestible and authentic, love it!
My absolute favourite album ever. Hugely influential to my music career and thinking in general. I would love to have a beer with you guys, you’re dad has such a great way of breaking down lyrics and music. Great stuff, from Ireland!

Randomly found your channel, and gotta say your taste in music is almost indentical to mine. Radiohead, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar are actually my favourite artists of all time. It's so awesome to see you get your dad into the same music.
I came across this video for the first time this morning. Not sure it was your intention but I unexpectedly ended up in tears, real sobbing tears. Sounds pathetic for a 56 year old man , but if I tell you this is my favourite album, and one I used to listen to with my now estranged daughter (we also saw Radiohead together twice, just the two of us). Seeing the two of you enjoying the album together was very evocative
No pathethic at all... How could you not cry while listening to Nude? My father is the same age as you and we’ve never had a good relationship. I made him listen to Radiohead once and he told me to “turn off that funeral music immediately” So yeah. That’s it
I thought I misheard when you thanked people for 2k subs in the beginning, then I checked your channel to see it was made in May this year! You've come a long long way and definitely deserve all the success, love watching this father/son dynamic with such a genuine love and appreciation for the music you're listening to.
Just found your vids tonight and am really enjoying them. I have loved music since I can remember. I was born in the early 50's when my parents and their friends, who gathered round our house, were in their early 20's and seriously into jazz. I remember my dad sitting me on his knee and pointing out all the separate instruments and what they were doing and how the music sounded so good because of that. Growing up through the 60's with the Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Kinks, Beach Boys etc, I knew what I was listening to and how each new genre of music was another step forward in how fantastic music progression was a never ending journey. Watching you turning your dad onto Radiohead and his reaction to them is such a mind blowing experience. I was fortunate to get into them when a friend had brought round The Bends to play me just after it had come out and it blew me away, just like every one of their albums has done ever since. I am now catching up on all your vids and having watched the Kid A and this one, I am just about to watch the OK Computer one. These are such great fun to watch. Thank you.
Hi Frank! Glad you are enjoying the videos :) Love your video on penalty kicks!! Connor showed me as I do the same with our dog. Take care and thx for the support.
In rainbows is my favorite album of Radiohead. I revisit it endlessly with great passion. I don’t really know what else to say. It moves me. There is great guitar rock, as well as sultry tones. Great great album.
This is my favorite Radiohead album - their sound is so much more grounded in warm instrumentation instead of something like Kid A, which is so cold and electronic. Their performance form the basement solidified it as my absolute favorite in their discog.
You guys are wonderful! Father and son sharing my favorite band's music. My sons and me (they're early/mid-teen) have listened to Radiohead together since they entered this world. Radiohead's music has shaped their view of just how good music can be. Your review of In Rainbows was excellent. I did want to mention, however, that there is an extended version of In Rainbows with a bonus disc. There are 8 more songs on it and some of them are equally as incredible as the 10 main tracks. I would really like to see you guys add a second review of the bonus disc songs. I think you both will be absolutely blown away that Radiohead actually released 18 full tracks with In Rainbows. Truly amazing. Thanks guys and keep up the great work!
Hi Russ, So great that you have been sharing great music together with your sons. Doing these videos with Connor has really brought back that love for music I lost for awhile and being introduced to new music has really changed my writing style and thought process when writing. In anticipation of this I had already listened to the album the other evening imagining how this would go down, and I am delighted with your honest emotional reception of what is a truly wonderful album. I’m so looking forward to joining you on your next journey, and maybe someday soon you’ll take a look at In Rainbows Disk 2 from which “Last Flowers to the Hospital” became one of my absolute favourite songs of all time. Another wonderful video, I just want to say I really really appreciate both of your comments at the end, i'm so lucky because me and my Dad bonded over Radiohead when Kid A and then Amnesiac came out.
Kid a is my favorite Radiohead album overall but I feel like in rainbows has better standalone songs
This comment 1000%
I wish I could’ve shown my dad Radiohead before he passed, but I never got the chance since I didn’t delve into them until a few years later. Watching this kind of filled a void for me, and I’m so happy to see fathers and their kids rejoicing in the art of music. Keep making these y’all! Absolutely heartwarming.
Hi Marina, sorry for your loss.
i was thinking the same thing watching this, i dont even know if hed have liked it all that much but id still like to have shared it
Fun fact: How To Disappear Completely is also Thom Yorke's favorite Radiohead song.

Radiohead is one of few musical artists that immerse you into a state of complete surreal sadness, and somehow make it all totally worth it.
They are truly an amazing band, Thom Yorke is also a musical genius.
Agree. Such sad and beautiful at the same time.
@brittanygonzo5686 Sadness is beautiful, it is just harder and deeper to witness or experience.
Also, like Elation - Hard to pull back from.

I do really love KID A but this release .... ive been binge watching their account and I 100% agree
Same here dude.. Reckoner is the shit... Killer song!!!!
Nude is VULNERABLE, when I hear Nude I don't think about wearing a nice tux, that's artificial. The feelings I got were intimacy with somebody who's long in the past. It's like a fleeting moment but memorialized in a song
Spot on. A tux seems pretty much opposite of what the song emits.
The thing with music is you can listen to the same thing and have a different feeling.

Thank you.
Hi Frank! Glad you are enjoying the videos :)
