I just saw this Asmon, and I know it’s over two years old, but I wanted to throw my support your way with some words of encouragement. I lost my mom suddenly in 2014, no warning. She was here one day, gone the next. Then I lost my biological father two years later and my step father a year after that. In the span of just 3 years, I was now an “orphan” and lost all 3 parents. I was as close to my mom as any son could be. I was a mommas boy through and through and she was a wonderful person. She was a nurse and dedicated her life to helping the elderly in geriatric care.
The loss never goes away. I’m coming up in 10 years since my mom passed and I still think about her nearly every single day. There’s almost nothing I wouldn’t give to just have 5 minutes with her to talk and to hug her and say goodbye. However, it has become easier. It hasn’t gotten better, but easier, if that makes any sense. Still, sometimes a smell or a song will make a memory rush back and I’ll end up in tears, but a lot of the time I end up smiling because I have so many good memories with her.
There’s no words anyone can say that would make any real difference. All anyone can do is let you know that you certainly aren’t alone, and that there are many of us who understand exactly what you went through and are still going through. I’m not under any illusion that we are friends or that we know each other, so I’m not coming from that angle. I’m just coming from one human being to another who has experienced profound loss and how that loss changes you, forever.
I hope this finds you doing well, given the nature of the subject at least, and that you have many happy memories to fill your mind with that make you smile when you think of your mom. I still dream of my parents now and then. I don’t know if it’s them really speaking to me while I’m sleeping, or if it’s just my mind still coping with the fact that they’re gone, but I’ve had some really great dreams where I get to talk to them and express my feelings. I remember these dreams vividly, which is strange since I normally don’t remember my dreams at all.
We are coming up on the holidays now, and this time of year is especially difficult for me, as I had decades of very happy times around now. Every thanksgiving and Christmas was always a family affair with my moms cooking and lots of family around, all being happy and just enjoying each others company. I do miss those times, a lot. I’m married with a child, but still long for those days again.
I’ll stop here, so I don’t end up typing a George RR Martin length novel. I just hope you are doing ok, and that you keep your mom in your heart and memory. I truly believe that, as long as someone remembers your loved one, and loves them, they are never really gone, they live on in the hearts and minds of those left behind. Cheesy and a cliche, I know, but it’s truly how I feel.
    Take care bud.

I’m 21 and my mom is 59 I’m starting to think about that day and it gets me so anxious she is my only parent that I have I’m scared to lose her and be all alone in this world with just 2 of my siblings my dream is to become successful before that day will come and make her proud of me

    • @clonexx
      @clonexx 4 месяца назад

@@shonkoren3773 The only advice I can give is to spend as much time as you can with her and just enjoy every moment you get. You don’t want to be left thinking “I wish I had spent more time with her” when it’s too late. My mom said she had the flu, and I was supposed to go over on a Wednesday to see her. I wanted to let her rest and I didn’t want to get sick, so I postponed the visit until Friday. Well, 1am from Thursday into Friday is when she had a massive coronary and never recovered. It took them 45 minutes to get her heart beat back, but by then it was too late. She had been deprived of oxygen for too long and that caused catastrophic brain damage.
Not a day goes by that I don’t regret not going over to her house on the Wednesday I planned on going. Maybe I could have seen how sick she looked and convinced her to go to the ER. Heart attacks can present differently in women and sometimes they can present as flu like symptoms that go on for days. I will regret postponing that visit until the day I die.
Your mom still has some good years ahead of her though, I’m 50 and my wife is 53. While my mom passed at 70, that was young for the women in her family. If your mom doesn’t have any major health issues, she could be around for 30+ more years, and I hope she is. There’s a very special bond between a son and their mother, one that’s unique and can’t be substituted. I was a hardcore mommas boy, and I was her only child. She was a spectacular mother, woman and nurse. When we are blessed with a mother who is wonderful, it makes the passing all the more devastating.
I’d say you hopefully have a lot more time with your mom, but like I said, spend as much quality time with her as you can and just be present (put down the phone…) and in the moment when you are spending time with her. Never hesitate to tell her you love her, and don’t hesitate to tell her how thankful you are for everything she’s done for you. While it’s expected that a parent would do their best for their child, it means the world to them to hear their child express gratitude for all the hard work and sacrifices they made to give you a better life.

@@MyNamesMike I’m so sorry about your mom. I had to watch my grandmother go through cancer and it’s not something I’d wish on anyone. It’s not easy and never will be. All I can say is that it gets better. It doesn’t get easier, but it does get better. After a time you’ll find yourself remembering all the good times that you had. I hope you have some people in your life that you can lean on. That’s really important at a time like this, to have people you can really trust for help emotionally to get you through this.
I wish you the best and hope your mom has as peaceful of a transition as she can, one without pain. Just be there for her, that’s all you can do.

Watching this back this week because my grandfather just passed away. I totally understand the feeling of thinking they will get better and pull through until the very last day that they pass. :( my papa had COPD for many years and then declined pretty rapidly one day after a stroke… in the hospital he even told my grandma he knew he had a stroke and waited two hours to wake her up because he didn’t want to go to the hospital and thought it would just get better.
He really was a fighter. He spent five days in the hospital and begged to go home, he refused every surgery that he needed (g tube.) He said if he was a younger man, he would’ve, but he was ready to be at home. We got him home on hospice to make him comfortable. He then passed away with his dog by his side and all of his family where he wanted to be at home 🥺♥️😭

I’m just “getting to know” you on RUclips. I’m an old gamer and I play WoW which is how I found you… but I just want you to know, your voice is important. You are far more than a gamer/streamer. You are a good man and to be honest, although I’m older than you, I look up to you. I admire how effortlessly you can express your opinions without being an asshole, not something I’m good at. I don’t look up to many people, or admire people that are famous just because they’re famous, I admire people who are human and have the capacity to admit their defects while also exhibiting their belief in themselves even despite those defects. You are a good man for taking care of your mom and I just wanted to express to you that, yeah, you are a streamer, a WoW guru, etc… but never underestimate how impactful your voice and your other messages are, especially the ones like this, that have nothing to do with gaming. Thanks for sharing this!

This video is almost two years old now, but I know the loss never really goes away. Time has a way of dulling the pain, you learn to cope, but you'll never stop missing someone you love, and it's clear you loved your mom a whole lot. We're close to the same age--think I'm a little older--but I've lost two grandmothers I was very close to, and I know how it is man. A couple good friends have been lost along the way as well. I still think of all of them on a regular basis, and usually it makes me smile, but I still have to remember that they're gone now. None of us are getting any younger, tons of people lost loved ones to covid, etc., so cherish your friends and family while they're still here because tomorrow is never guaranteed. Your videos are normally a welcome reprieve from all the heavy stuff you have to deal with in life, but this one was obviously a little different, and more people than you know are probably going through a similar loss. Hang in there buddy, it gets easier with time.

Hey man, I recently just started watching your content and I can't say I'm not hooked. Your mom must be so proud. She raised a good boy. Not often do I feel touched by content creators but your such a genuine gem of a human being. You have my upmost respect. I'm sorry for your loss. I know most people say time heals all sounds but when someone like this means so much to you, it's tough to even want that wound to heal because I'd feel like I'm letting go of a big peace of myself. Stay positive my friend.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings in such an authentical way!
In my experience the way you are dealing with that sad situation is a good way to do and
it is a sign of greatness.
The fact that you always bin there for your mum tells everything!
This is absolutely not common in these days.
I think there is no reason to put ANY kind of blame on yourself.

I've been watching a lot of you during the Amber/Johnny trial and I am always in such awe of how much energy you possess. Your personality emanates such light. I would have never known you had endured such a recent loss. I took care of my Mother for 7 years due to her Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. She has been a very, very healthy woman before getting sick. She never smoked, never drank, ate healthy and was quite slim. Death comes for healthy people too. You did all you could. Being a caregiver is THE HARDEST thing to be as a fairly young person. I'm still soooo tired and trying to figure out what my future will be like since I had to put my own life on hold for so long. Your content has been showing up in my feed as of late. Started watching more just today actually. This one came up and I needed it. I lost my Mom Last July. She suffered from health issues that could’ve been avoided as well. The last day I saw her standing was Christmas 2022. She went in the hospital in January and never got back out of bed. Her B12 levels dropped so low she gave off the signs of a stroke. She lost control of her limbs and was placed on a feeding tube. That was the only thing keeping her nourished. She also started having symptoms of dementia. My Dad, brother and myself had to make the decision to take her off the tube and make her as comfortable as we could. I feel your pain so much on this one. My Mom and me were really close but I had someone of a falling out with my father for some time and that affected our relationship overall. I try not to live in regret but will always have my second guesses on what I could or should have done. Sounds like we both share similarities. I grew up with close friends in my neighborhood that loved my mom and called her a second mom. She would pack us up in her van a take us up to the local comic book store to buy Pokémon cards, action figures and comics. Thank you for sharing this Zack. It helped me today.

My grandmother just passed away. About 10 hours ago. It is so hard. I don't know how I will live my life. She was like a second mom to me. Just thinking about living without her and the things she did for me and the small things that we did together like watching the news on TV... It breaks my heart. And it feels just as it is said. A heartbreak. It hurts my chest and I just can't. I cried for days now, because she was in the ICU. We knew she was likely to pass, but I just hoped she wouldn't. I felt like it was my duty to hope for her recovery. But she did pass away. Just 1 min into this video and every single word just hits where it hurts. Its too relatable. Its too painful. I hope it will pass or get better, but from what I can tell this grief never stops and you just have to live with it. The best advice I can give is don't remember how she passed, but rather how she lived. Cherish the memories you have with her because you'll find yourself smiling more often than not. It's okay to be sad and vulnerable. If someone gives you a shoulder to cry on, then bawl and remember you're not alone in your grieving. The last thing I want to add is cherish today and yesterday's memories with friends and loved ones, and NEVER take things for granted i wish you and your family very good health.

      @cliftut 27 дней назад +2

That's a lot. I feel for you, inasmuch as I can from my experience. I think faith counts for a lot, it's not about proof nor belief, it's about our learning pathway, because the reality of being and experience is all there is, so it's really about who we are and that we can choose to embrace that, suffering and all. To doubt that anything can prove our doom, prove pointlessness, because really it can't, however much some people or thoughts might try to convince us otherwise.
A lot is unprovable about life and death and their interpretations, which means there's as much room for hope and resolve as for despair or bitterness. Reality filters to us through our mind and other minds, a lot is assumption. So if we cast off unnecessary assumptions and choose our necessary assumptions our reality can transform. Faith in life is one of those assumptions, and taking it on consciously can help us find possibility and meaning and transform life's pain, help us open to learning, trust that there is a next step toward something meaningful within grasp, whatever the timeframe, and that brings value back into the present.
I don't know if that might help at all, but at least I always hope for people in dark places to learn that there are others who care about them, wherever they are, and that it's okay and possible to doubt oblivion without closing your eyes, but also that despair at times is understandable and doesn't make you faulty.
Best wishes and thanks for sharing.

@@cliftut Am I misunderstanding you or did you just write 3-4 paragraphs in support of fairytales, alternative facts and religion to give emotional support & hope? Just because you may not be educated and don't understand science or the cycle of life & death (thus you may believe in one of the 3,000 proposed gods in history), does not mean our species should follow opinions/fairytales or religions when shaping our future or needing solace.
For anyone grieving and feeling hopelessness: Know that you are important and worth everything good. It hurts beyond anything else but feel solace that every human has gone through pretty much the same thing as you have in terms of loss & grieving. Show resilience and also respect for your ancestors, buck through & succeed in life. Success is relative and just surviving = success for many. I believe in you. You should too. We are a fantastic species, everyone is important, and you can make a real difference. People that die around you can't, but you can!
Whether there is an afterlife & rebirth (science actually supports that our atoms are recycled and re-used!), or a god do not matter really in practical terms. You must lead your life to serve our species. Be helpful and be grateful. What comes will come regardless. Just be good and know that you matter.

I fell into one of your videos a few months ago. I could not help but laugh the entire video. I started watching a lot of your content after that. Something that I noticed about you, or your RUclips personality. Is that you are who you are, and no outside force changes that. It is awesome to watch someone just truly be themselves on the outside. I think you did all the right things for your mother. It is easy to doubt the decisions you make, when you feel that, that 1% chance is still there. That if you make every right decision along this path, then you will win at the end. Unfortunately that is just not the case. It seems your mom no matter what, was always herself to the end. It was always fun listening to your stories about her with WOW and the games you would play together. I think that trait of just being yourself, in the best of ways has rubbed off on you. You took that and created a successful life for yourself. I wish you nothing but the best of luck in dealing with this situation emotionally. WE CARE FOR YOU ZACK!!!!!

I can't even fathom what you were going through during such difficult times/situation. I'm glad you both didn't get blown up, damn that's intense. The next few days were the toughest in your life I'm sure. Sorry for your loss bro. 🌹
I can literally relate a lot to what you went through. What's fucked up is I had put my dog down on the exact same day 29/10/2021 2:37pm. 😔 He was my best friend. Never even felt that kind of pain when I lost my mom at the age of 18 (distant reletionship). She actually got me into gaming back in the good ol NES days. Played Mario, Castlevania and Double Dragon together when I was just a boy. My father age 76 was diagnosed with COPD the day he went for a triple bypass surgery after having a heart attack. Talk about the way of the universe huh!? Life will never be the same for us. So many emotional triggers it's hard to be normal.

Seeing this scares me. I'm 22 and my dad if 50, but I've tried to get him to quit so many times, in excess of 7-8 attempts. He uses his e-cig and then secretly smokes when I'm not around, but I can smell it on him. That or he "loses" the e-cig and has to buy cigarettes. He says "I need them, I am so stressed" but they are the reason he is stressed. He needs to smoke them to get rid of the stress that they give him when he doesn't smoke them. He refuses to see that. He has a persistent cough, he used to be obese but lost the weight after a divorce, I wish he had lost it the right way but at least he's not 130kg anymore. Both my parents smoked a pack a day for over 20 years.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 😔 I lost my mom a few years ago. It really sucks.
Thank you for your courage for speaking up on this. Struggles with Mental Health is a subject that is not nearly brought up about nor nearly accommodated enough.
And no, it's not your fault for giving her cigarettes. If someone makes a poor decision about their health, there's not much you can really do about it if they refuse to change. COPD would have claimed her in the end regardless.
EDIT- She sounded like an incredibly stubborn woman; that doesn't mean she's a bad person for it, nor does it mean that it's your fault. You did everything you could, and I'm sure she tried everything she could to stop making poor decisions about her health. When someone is in poor mental health, it can be very difficult to take good care of yourself, and it can be very difficult and embarrassing to ask for help from others. It sounded like she was really struggling right up to the end. 😔

This might be the deepest, most vulnerable thing I’ve ever seen, and definitely hit home for me, as I have a slightly similar situation with my mother. She doesn’t have health issues (aside from a little asthma), but she’s a very “particular” person who gets overwhelmed easily and doesn’t really make enough money to keep up with the house, so me and my brother both live at home and help out. She also doesn’t have any real friends she hangs out with or talks to on a regular basis, and so part of it is also dreading the thought of leaving her home by herself with no regular human interaction outside a trip to the grocery store. And I just know how badly that would affect her mentally, being such a codependent person. But it is what it is. I have no shame in still living at home at 34yo to help support her, financially and emotionally. And given today’s quickly-deteriorating economic landscape, imo it’s the more practical, economic option unless you’re already well-off (and tbh this is most likely only the beginning of our economic woes).
So kudos and respect to you for doing what needs to be done for family, regardless of any stigma around it or what opportunities it might cost. It’s what any decent person would do for the people they love. Anyone that says otherwise is just fortunate enough to not have been burdened (I hate putting it like that 😖) with a very-complicated situation like that. Or they just don’t give a shit about their family.
And you made the right decision with your mother. Tbh with her refusal of the mask, and having to know how serious things were, it sounds like that’s what she wanted. I think the situation with the oxygen tank really put things into perspective for her, as she somewhat implied when she said “I really fucked up”. It made her reflect on how much harder her stubbornness made things for both you and her, and how much undue stress that caused you, leaving you with some really fucked up and twisted decisions to make. That was her wanting to free you from that burden and stress to be able to pursue life entirely on your terms, even if it meant the pain of losing her. You’re a beautiful person, my dude, and you can rest more easily knowing that you went above and beyond what many would do in your shoes. There was nothing else you could’ve possibly done to change the outcome. And the fact you were able to keep it together enough to disconnect and escape into gaming, while constantly entertaining thousands of people via your streaming, is a true feat of human resilience and perseverance. Incredibly inspirational. You should have enough good karma accumulated to last a few lifetimes. This is the beginning of a new, and very different, chapter in your life. Best of luck on your journey and may the force be with you. 🙏

Often times it’s hard to know what the right or wrong decision to make is, the right decision can often seem like the wrong one, attempting to stop someone from smoking may seem like the right thing to do, but the other person views this as you taking away something that brings them happiness.
Do you try to make them happy long term by making the right decision or do you not say anything and let them be happy short term. You don’t know the answer and neither do they. For some short term happiness is worth trading for long term damage.
What matters the most is you’ve been there for her, you’ve cooked food for her, you’ve shared your fortunes with her, and most importantly of all, you’ve spent time with her, the most any parent can ask from their child.
In the end you both knew you had the strongest and purest connection any two humans can have, irrelevant of what was going on in your life, you knew they were there for you.

She won’t come here to Florida because I smoke and they won’t stay here (even though I don’t smoke in house) they go to her in-laws in Colorado for a month at a time and her mother in law can watch the baby, while they say they can’t trust me to watch the baby. Felt like I was listening to myself talk. My father was obsessed with restoring old Mopars. Was useless and a waste of money in his old age, but it made him happy. You hit the nail on the head.

Just saw your video, man. I'm really sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad last year after he was bedridden for six months, and those were the hardest of my life. I didn't agree with the decisions my siblings made for him, and can't help but question my role. This is natural and we just have to convince ourselves to let these doubts go. Like you said, it happens to everybody. It's tough and life will never be the same. But it can be good - just in a different way. Your Mom will always be with you through your memories, and I hope they bring you as much peace as mine do of my Dad.

I have just recently started following you. I’m 49 and a mother of two kids, my son is 11 and my daughter is 12. I was a smoker since I was 15 until age 36 and quit. I gradually began to smoke again over the past few years due to ridiculous levels of stress, but that stress is no excuse to rob my children of having their mother for as long as possible. My daughter asks me to stop regularly, and I have wanted to so badly, and I have known that I need to but just keep putting it off, and it feels so wrong to basically say no to my child. You sharing your story has made me realize I just need to do it; I need to stop. I’m going to get some patches or gum or something tomorrow, and I am going to stop smoking. It’s not even an option not to; I’m going to make it happen. Thank you so much for being so open about something so personal and so painful. I needed this; I’ve been being so selfish. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry if this is unwanted advice, but don't feel bad about not being able to stop smoking by your own will, because smoking is one of the hardest addiction to overcome, nicotine has been proven to be as addictive as cocaine and heroin and may even be more addictive. It's important for people to understand this so they can seek proper medical and psychological treatment instead of beating themselves up for not being able to do one of the hardest thing a human can do on their own. I wish you luck with your progress, you can do it.

I, like many others, “found” you from the trial. This video has popped up so often but I kept avoiding it because my own heart is still so broken from unexpectedly losing my Dad in November 2020. Today I mustered up the courage to watch & it made me treasure you even more. Look 👀 at all of the people your Mom has played a part in rallying around you ~ she’s STILL impacting your life in ways you could never have anticipated. I don’t have any great advice to give because I’m still in the throes of it but I just read someone telling you to, “listen for the whispers” and I have to tell you, that is some phenomenal advice, I’m going to take it myself. One foot in front of the other is the best we can do ~ I wish you peace Zack🕊✌️✝️ xoxo

The memories however and the love can't die, as stupid and cliché as it may sound. I can think about my deceased father and smile, I had such a wonderful childhood. Remembering how happy you were back then, what you did together, how you talked to eachother. We can't change it, sadly ...
But what helped me the most is to understand that they probably don't want you to be sad and fall into a depression. Even it if seems to be getting harder by every day you should embrace the daily struggle, finding the strengh to carry on. Learn to appreciate the small moments of happiness on your path, even if it is just a little butterfly you see on your way back home from work. There may be stones on the road and you may stumble, but your goal lies beyond this. I'm sure you guys will overcome this and whoever is in the same situation without as many support as Asmongold gets will walk again soon.:)

I just started watching your content, along with OTK. I have genuinely enjoyed it so much and then i come across this video. It caught me off guard so much because I recently just lost my mother a few months ago. By the time we figured out what was wrong she was already in the end stages of colon cancer. Hearing you talk about your mom, and how my mom was exactly the same with horses/hating masks/hating the hospitals etc. Knowing I'm not the only one with this pain really helps. But damn hearing you talk about your mom made me start crying remembering my mom. so sorry for your loss no matter the time that has passed.

I was having a rough day because I was struggling with a loss from my past. Sometimes it comes back for a while, like an uninvited guest.
I was frustrated because I knew there wasn't anyone that had the willingness or understanding to go all the way deep with me - to just listen and empathize. But for once the algorithm provided sustenance in the famine, and your video came up.
Thank you for sharing this. While our losses are different, there is much that is the same. Beyond that, thank you for being open and taking it slow. Sometimes we just need to sit in the discomfort of the moment. You helped my burden today, and not at a small price. But thank you for sharing your hurt - it helped me with mine.
