Thanks for the update Jack... I'm at day 23 of growing out my beard and mine seems to be growing out in a similar way yours did (yours looks good BTW)...your vids are very encouraging for us newbees --keep the updates coming brother ...beard on!
I have been combing my beard down to tame the curls I get near my neck, but you suggestion of combing forward is SO MUCH BETTER. That curly neck beard thing I had going was just bad lol.
Nice! Solid beard Jack it’s coming in badass!! I’m Trying at the same thing with my beard I trimmed mine down to a stubble a bit after your first few videos so I could do it alongside you. I’m a few weeks behind you, but you’ve really helped me grow a better beard. Not doing any trimming has really allowed the beard to come in fuller and better than ever.
Jack!?.... I am only 3 weeks in but constantly watching your awesome videos for inspiration, but I’m hoping you could give a little advice... Parts of my moustache has all of a sudden decided to have these few random hairs that are curling upwards, almost into my nostrils haha. They look awkward and feel slightly embarrassing, can you recommend anything to do?? Thanks, Steven
I messed up my beard line and had to shave off my entire beard but after watching your videos each week I wish I had it back already! Support your bearded brother going through the shitty, dirty, scruffy, half beard/half stubble stage :(
Awesome beard Jack, it's getting big and thicker👍👍...Now that my beard is getting a decent growth, it's starting to French Fork mainly in my chin area.
Thanks for explaining how a brush works. Man, all my life I have been using them wrong! Tried peeling a banana with one, FAIL. Rescue a cat from a tree? MAJOR FAIL. But the moment I used it on hair, to my surprise and delight, I found that it actually straightened the hairs! Who knew!?!? I gotta tell ya, you just saved me from years of brush embarrassment!
Thanks for the advice. I'm 5 months in now with the yeard no trimming and I have the wide curly sides that are hard to tame. Look forward to your progress and tips
Good tips for the early stages. I found that once my beard reached about 5-6 months, the boar's bristle brush began to pull too hard. I switched over to an "ouchless" brush at that point.
Fantastic beard there, Jack! Not sure if I've managed as much as 11 weeks growth before, but it's a lot thicker than I would manage. I've a lot less cheek growth...
I'm trying to get my beard as long as possible before I start uni in a month and need to look more presentable, at which time I'll get it trimmed down just a little and shaped better. Coming on 3 months of growth now and I have the same problem, so a boar bristle brush will definitely be my next purchase. Great video.
You didn't mention anything about beard oils, balms or conditioners. I find even just to get the ends of the hairs from sticking up can make a huge difference in how the beard looks. Using things like balm or oil to weigh the hair down a bit, style it and hold it in that position and ultimately, to train it to stay that way helps a lot.
Awesome video as always guys. Truly one of the most well rounded and informative channels out there . I have truly learned so much and changed the way I do things thanks to everyone over at BeardBrand . Also using the balm which I love it deffinetly gets my beard to lay down and behave as I want it too . Keep up the great work I’ve even learned to trim and upkeep my beard on my own thanks to the videos . Made lots of mistakes in the beginning but getting better . 3+ months of solid growth . 👍🏻
Good progress Jack. Are you planning to do any maintenance trims throughout year? Would be good to see for people growing out their beard and wanting to maintain a good shape.
Really starting to come on Jack. A similar beard to look at with what I call the “icicles” (the pointy patches you have next to your mouth) is Boaz Myhill the football (soccer) goalkeeper. His starts with them when his beard is short but fill in over time. Maybe use minoxidil in those areas? 😀👍🏻
been growing mine for roughly 4 years now, only trim sides down and give it a rounding to look a little neater, Ive been brushing pretty much daily and my beard hairs never EVER got straighter/started growing the way I want it to. It worked for the hair on my head, its all going nicely straight to the back, but not my beard... a boar bristle brush was my very first purchase because I read that helps with omega curly hair, but it doesnt for me... curse my curls and thick hair :(
This video is what I exactly needed right now! I'm almost 4months in and dealing with loads of curls in the upward direction and let me tell you they're thick af. Dealing with them with a comb is so hard and kinda pointless. Gonna try the brush now. Is there anything else that you can suggest to try along with it? Anyways, Great video and keep up the good work!
Hi jack great progress so far (amazing beard growth/thickness!) and really enjoying this series; such an epic thing for us to follow you on your journey! Just a quick question, I seem to have an issue with my beard/tache being longer, when I drink water it annoyingly runs down into my tache or chin...? Maybe I'm being stupid and drinking wrong LOL but it seems like a really silly thing to be happening. I have to break my sip, then continue drinking to stop it going everywhere. Do u get this too? :3
Great advice! I’ve been using a boar bristle brush for a couple of weeks now and it does make a difference. Question Jack: have you trimmed your mustache at all? It looks super neat and it doesn’t covers your lip at all.
I have actually not trimmed any part of my beard or mustache at all. That's just the way my mustache grows. I'm actually going to talk about the 'stache a bit in next week's video. - Jack
Tbh, imo continued brushing is the worst thing you can do since it kinda fucks with the hair and it gets “worse”and worse. At least that’s my experience. length will fix the problem most of the time. imo the best way is simple: Blow dryer (not necessary, not everyday) wide tooth comb (high quality). However, this length is always difficult - it’s either grow or cut but I’d go with grow!
It really comes down to the type of hair that you grow, if you have a coarse beard like mine, I've found that the brush is my best friend. Of course, the hair dryer and comb method helps a ton but for the sake of time, this is a great way to hold the hair down everyday. - Jack
Beardbrand yeah, that is possible. My hair is really straight. however, it’s just a observation that the places I combed “continuously” got more wavey/curly so I’d figured it’s the same with curlier beards.... do you know those 🎁-knots (but not the actual knot but the decoration stuff you curl/make with a scissor)i think it’s the same principle. I mean you can give it a try for a week or two.
How do you brush your beard during that transition from being a short beard that pretty much sticks to your face, to a longer beard. The part that gives me the most trouble is the part under my chin. Should I just make it stick to my face or should I style it in a way that shows it’s length. Thanks for your help Jack!
ive always used a boars hair brush and it does really help alot, my beard is growing and puffing out, but it also wants to curl and stick out even more. now i need to start using styling palm or some sort of control
Great video, great advice! Can someone tell me why some guys shave that thin patch where the cheek beard meets the moustache “handle bars” (i.e. either side of the moustache) like Jack has in this video? Is it for shape? Aesthetics? Comfort? Accentuation purposes? I don’t see the reason or benefit in doing it, but I’ve noticed it on a lot of beards and I can’t seem to find anything online explaining it. Thanks in advance.
You're getting better in front of camera week by week. Lots of confidence.
Ya it's the beard confidence yolo
Beards looking good for only 3 months Jack. I agree, if you have a beard you should own a boars hair brush, I also use a wooden comb.
or own a boar...
Are wooden comb's better than the plastic comb's
@@peterhughes4832 depending on these guys on RUclips, yeah it's a lot better.

Jack , that week 11 yeard looks so dense and fresh . Hope to see you being Gandalf or Dumbledore once u complete ur yeard . By the way BEARD ON.
From now you’re my beard brother. You were describing my beard shape as you describe your. Salute to puffy italian beards

Awesome beard Jack, it's getting big and thicker👍👍...Now that my beard is getting a decent growth, it's starting to French Fork mainly in my chin area.
Thanks man! Sounds like your French Fork is coming in nicely!
- Jack
I didnt know that was an actual thing. Mine forks naturally and I thought I’d done something wrong
Bad Ork No, It grows like that for some men, not all though.
Looks like a lovely,warm,comfortable beard

I found weeks 12-15 to be my puffiest weeks, mine is starting to get less puffy now!
I absolutely love that boar bristle brush!!! ❤️
Thank you for the help and explanation! I have just bought a beard brush. I will use it today for the first time!
First time I've EVER heard anyone say "brush towards the point" I thought I was crazy

The beard looks great man! Do you have any beardtrim video coming up? :)
You're voice is so soothing, you should narrate children books
Guy estimates Patrick Bateman 😂
How long does it take to shape a beard with a brush?
Like how long does it take to a specific direction?
2 minutes at the most (for me, personally)

@@Beardbrand thanks for the info but i was actually asking about the time it takes to make my beard compact like urs?

by the year your beard sdes would look spotless if you don't mess with it and avoid trimming. those early sides gaps will close with time
you sound like patrick bateman and i love it
I wish i had beard like your . You don't like it but trust me it's awesome 😍
Aw, thanks, man!

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I used raw coconut oil and a boar bristle brush.
Oh you poor guy. Your cheek lines go so high you need to shave them down. I‘m jealous. Mine only go up to around my adams apple.
Gotta say Jack, your videos are fucking great. You need to do more!!!
P.s awesome beard.
Do you have a particular brush besides obviously the beardbrand one , like say just going to walmart or something if on a budget ? Love the content
Great vid, make sure you really study, the info you're selling, or it looks unorganized. like this one!

How do you brush the chin and upper neck area??

Does any bear bristle brush works or only those small ones designed for beards? The big ones are more affordable
Beard looks great!!!!!!
watched on mute the entire time. i guess i should brush my beard? looks good man
Are we absolutely certain Jack isn't Vulcan?
I have recently bought one, How often should you brush and can you overdo it?
Love your beard
Good Vid ✌🏾
What would you advise if we cannot use a boars hair brush for personal reasons?
Do you still work for beardbrand??
Thanks for this! The hair at my chin line on my cheeks want to grow up. I was losing hope. Ill just keep brushing and using balm.
Keep on that chin line with the brush and you should be good to go!
