Brooke, I can truly relate about the hoarding and getting rid of things. When my Daddy died, he left such a huge, no Monstrous collection of his things and then when my Mom died, we had to go through it again because of her not really getting rid of all his things plus a woman who sold Avon for 15 years and had several dresser drawers full of boxed jewelry. My son helped there at the end of going through those things and he turned to me and said, " Mom, please don't do this to me! It's just me and I don't need anything from you except maybe something from both grandparents and something special from you. So please get rid of what you don't need." I now go through my things ever 4-6 months. And here is South Georgia, I really don't have to keep it all just for memories.... Thank you for sharing and reminding me my 6 months is here to get through my junk.

That type of elimination is called Swedish Death Cleaning, they go through everything and give it away or sell it to keep their family from the task at their death. It is something I am doing this year! 68 years of accumulating added to the massive amount of things I brought here while clearing out my parents' home! Add to that we are remodeling our kitchen and pulling out everything from every cabinet and seeing all the "stuff" I haven't used because I couldn't find it so when it goes back together there will be a ton of "stuff" leaving! So if it is useful and there is room for it I will keep it and if not, someone else will love it! I still wear my jeans but they are the new version and contain a bit of spandex, not to make them like yoga pants but it makes them have stretch and that makes them crazy comfortable.

You guys just tickle me. Your stories are so much fun. Even though you’re younger than me, I’m 71 (which I can’t believe). I can relate to everything you shared about growing up. My Mom made all our clothes when we were growing up and she let me play with the scraps because I was interested in learning how to sew. My little sister was never interested because she was a tomboy and spent most of her time outside.
So what I made were little purses because I had stuff I needed to carry around! Well all my life I’ve had a passion for sewing and thought I would be a clothes designer (I became a hairdresser instead, and I was a really well dressed hairdresser).
Now that I’m retired, I started a business a few years ago making tote bags and wallets and purses and I sell them as a street vendor when the weather is nice.
So I’m at my sewing machine, listening to today’s podcast, and just throughly enjoying it.
Isn’t it wonderful that we all don’t want to do the same thing! Anyone who finds their passion at a young age is so blessed. We all may go through five different things we may want to do but when you find that One Thing that Lights You Up, you want to get out of bed in the morning and do it!
May Everyone find their passion for life! Thanks so much for today’s podcast 🥰✨🌈🥳🙋🏼‍♀️

That means Ms Jan is a good groomer that loves what she does! She put him back to breed standard block face cut, not like ( PetSmart or petco flower face). Ms Jan did an awesome groom on Arlo and I’m glad you found someone that Arlo feels safe with. You always trust your dog if they are nervous when being dropped off or picked up it could indicate that they weren’t treated right. I tell all my customers to trust there dogs whether it be the groomer or the vet the animal will let you know if they are being mistreated.
My client tell me their dogs start crying as soon as they realize they are coming to my house for a grooming. I don’t put them in kennels either they get treats and play time with my dog while in my care. I treat them as if they are my animals.

From my marriages - four children - my Mom and Dad - my in-laws - YEARS of not knowing what to do with it. Bins stacked (neatly luckily!) in closets and garages. I am so looking forward to cleaning it all out! Many antiques that I need to research and sell but I'm taking baby steps to get it all done!!! Can't wait for that freedom feeling!!! And also.... being an artist, I have so many markers, paint bushes, colored pencils, boxes of clay - sketch books - paint pens.... time to go through and give some away to artists that may not have any! We artists have a problem with parting with those things that 'we may use'....

We ended up with all my Mothers stuff and his Mom and Dad's stuff. It's a disaster we don't want to leave for our son to have to deal with but is taking forever to go through and get rid of.

We moved three years ago after being in the house 48 years and we got gave away and trashed a lot and we have not unpacked some things and we are going to give away to goodwill all that we did not unpacked because we have not used or in three years. Love your podcast and videos. Looking forward to more videos of how you develop your new farm.

My dad uses the pickup with feed to move the cattle. You can also put feed in back of gator style vehicle. He just honks his horn and they follow.

We bought a smaller home with more land and while remodeling it lived in our motor home. All of our belongings were put in storage except for necessities, never got our stuff out when house was finished. We are amazed that we don’t miss it all.

This was such an enjoyable podcast. Great memories of being a kid. I think so many kids nowadays miss the kinds of things that we got to do and enjoy. It truly is a different time, kinda sad. Love ya'll! Pam in South Carolina 😊

I agree! I had 45 yrs of stuff that I had to deal with before moving.
I had yard sales, sold on line, gave away and then a dumpster.
I realized I don’t have to hold on to memories, they are all in
    My mind.

I got curious about the toboggan hat and googled it. It said that people who used toboggan sleds liked to wear beanie hats and people started calling those beanie hats toboggan hats and eventually just called them toboggans. However if you google the definition of toboggan it describes the sled.

This is very similar to the use of the terms soda, pop or coke to describe all the above. The use of these terms tends to show where one grew up. Peace/JT

I love it when y’all describe what happens that day on the 40. Moody just wanted to know where Jason was so he explored his world around him. And when he saw the girls he thought he was thinking look there’s more of my friends, lol
My mom ironed our flat sheets and my dad’s hankies because we didn’t have a dryer, just a clothesline. I myself need an iron and a board just in case, lol I’m so glad you found a groomer! Until next time❣️

I love listening to your stories. When you get that sewing machine out, you want to keep a few things in mind for a straight seam. First, the more you depress the foot pedal the faster the machine will sew. Don’t press the pedal all the way. Sew lines on a piece of paper while you are getting the hang of the pedal. Next, there are usually lines on the throat plate where the needle is. Those lines will be like 1/4” intervals. You can have place a piece of painters tape down to mark the line you want to use and it will help you to stay straight. Good luck and I hope you will give us an update if/when you experiment some more.

Hi CogHill friends, I was almost rolling on the floor with laughter at your telling of the story. You are both so descriptive that we can see what you are talking about. I can totally see Moody skipping back to his pasture. Brooke when you were talking about ironing your money as a child I knew what you were talking about but the more you laughed the more it sounded like you earned your money. Fantastic vlog again guys thank you for my Sunday chuckle.

Pluots are one of my favorite fruits. They are a cross of plums and apricots. And come in numerous versions. They grow well in California. But they are definitely another stone fruit. But aren't cherries stone fruits too?

I had some weird experiences with Coaches too.
One of the more intense PE Coaches who used to constantly tell everyone he was a US Marine once started a class with a basket ball in his hands and loudly asked the class, "Do you know what it is to be a man?" We all sat quietly wondering what he was up to as he threw the basket ball straight up in the air. I was thinking that once I was older it meant you could throw the ball further.
But as the ball came down, instead of catching it, he let it fall into his face. It cut the skin on his nose and it was bleeding all over the place as he yelled, "That's what it means to be a man!" The whole class was stun-locked.

I think it says a lot about money management, really. You should respect your money, and if you do, I believe you probably will have a better chance at saving money and being financially independent through the years. Look at all these two have accomplished financially! Especially at their young age!

Brooke, back in the late 60’s when I was in HS, I wanted to take a certain class (boys only) I fought and finally they allowed me. The next year girls were allowed to take the class.
I am a “hoarder “ myself. My hoarding is kitchen items. I have so many kitchen items, I could give several families a nice kitchen set up. LOL 😂
You all please take care and be safe
