I grew up on a farm where we raised “beef cattle” , black angus. Some animals are raised for food, some are pets. Moody is definitely a pet! He is so sweet and fun to watch
I am sorry that you all have to deal with some people who just want to criticize. I am excited to see Moody grow and live a fully pampered life with your family.

They are remaking it at the moment here in the uk we have just finished the second season the original series was made in the 70’s early 80’s

I laughed so hard at them skipping & bucking each other I had to watch it twice! Moodie does know when to be gentle bc he could really put a hurtin on Joe just playing with him! Moodie is so extraordinary! He fits right in w the sheriff & boss lady! I love all those pets!!!
Whatever the situation he came from, they obviously loved him. They made him so sweet with people.

Oh, that’s James Herriot , a vet in the Yorkshire Dales in England. His books, on which the TV series were based, are priceless and were the inspiration for our visit to the Dales. We visited his surgery, the church where he married etc. Loved loved those stories! 😘🇨🇦
Anne, that is cool. "All Creatures Great and Small". The series are very similar to Herriot's books. Brooke, I highly recommend the books. They are wonderful, especially his dog stories. Jason would roll on floor laughing at those and some great cat stories that you and MaryCarl would love for sure. Get them through the library as they've been around a good long while.
If you going to mention Yorkshire the OurYorkshireFarm wonderful show with Amanda and Clive with 9 kids, 1000 sheep, chickens , horses and a cow or two.
When Brooke talked about that vet show I was automatically thinking "James Herriot". Then she said 1700 and I thought "What?" And then she talked about the three piece suit and the loafers and I was "Well, that really sounds like James Herriot...".
When she finally came out with the name of the show I started laughing and I still am .....
So, what's the difference between an Englishman and an American? Well, for the Englishman 500 miles are a long way and for the American 500 years ist a long time.....
Don't get me wrong, Brooke, I loved every moment of it and I especially like you for laughing about it and not editing it out. You are truly awesome people and I love to watch your channels.
Herriot was actually a pen name. He hated to be called that when you went to see him at signings.

Even though I am the "Jason" on our farm, as a mom (of 6) I totally relate to Mrs. Cog Hill. When I am relaxing with the kids or having fun with them and Jake is building a fence or hauling woodchips.. I feel kind of like a slacker. Just have to remember that being a Mama and Wife is just as valuable 🥰

Y'all keep on calling Moody whatever comes out - cow, steer, etc. It's YOUR farm and YOUR channel and anyone who has been following knows you may not pronounce things as others think it should be. I'm guessing Moody started out as a Bull calf from a dairy that someone took to raise for beef. Months of bottle feeding and his sweet personality may have made that plan no longer an option for the original owners. Probably rehomed to save on expenses and the kind hearts that took him didn't have the fences, or a herd to keep him company. He was so lucky to wind up with you folks.
Jason you don't worry about all the other people and being snobs you just be yourself I'm like you if it's a cow it's a cow if it's a steer who cares you enjoy that animal and have fun I love your Videos keep it up
Not trying to be a snob-let’s say you are on phone talking to your Vet or Nurtritionist . You need to be clear what gender the animal is. So treatment or feeding is correct. Cows and heifers need different feeds and treatments. Steer (manhood removed) are normally raised to be fattened. You now are raising a pet and needs will be different. Moody is getting a “pardon” so he doesn’t need to be fattened, yet he needs nutrition and care, like you would a COW.
Common for people to call all cattle (plural) cows. Common for many to also think, if the animal has horns, it’s a Bull.

There is a series of books, "All Creatures Great and Small",. Mary Carl would thoroughly enjoy reading them.
I think she is talking about the "All Creatures Great and Small" show on PBS.
There was also a series on PBS of All Creatures Great and Small in the late 70s early 80s. I loved that series. It may be on Netflix.
I know , I watch it on PBS but I have also read the books and I know Marycarl is a prolific reader and I thought she might enjoy the books
All Creatures Great and Small is the true story of James Herriot. His vet practice is still running to this day. There have been a number of series made from James’ books. There is also a show with the current vets at the practice.
My favorite set of books and pbs series ever. I need to watch it again. Marycarl will love reading them. The first book is All Things Bright and Beautiful.
"All Creatures Great and Small" is probably the name of the PBS series you are watching. I read the book when I was a kid. The story is based on veterinarian James Harriot's experiences during the days of depression. Loved that book.

There are two versions of that series. The original ones my family would watch and loved. The young vet wrote 4 to 5 books about his life. All of the people were real people with their names changed. The books are wonderful. I would laugh out loud for one chapter and cry for the next. he was a tremendous writer. James Harriot, Triston, Seigfried : Mrs Pumfry and Tricky Wu and so many others. The books are so good, you can re read them and enjoy them as much as the first time.
Jason and Brooke, we love the way you keep your farm, and the fact that you keep all your animals as pets and don't eat them is the one thing that makes you all so loveable. We love the way you talk to all your pets as though they are people and the love you show to each of them. You have a very unique kind of farm and we all love it. I keep forgetting to mention that my son and I talk about you guys so much that now the teachers are watching. The teachers and I now discuss nuggets latest antics and now Moody. Odd as it seems It's really opened up some lines of communication with teachers.

If mood's horns do not come to a sharp point they have been trimmed. A lot of times this is done for safety reasons while working with them. And yes he does look like the horns were trimmed.

I had James Heriots book, "All Creatures Great and Small ",actually had the original and the follow up until Katrina took them out to sea. It's a wonderful book and am sure the series is as well 🥰🥰
As I parent, I can identify with Jason’s anxiety of chasing that bird. I have had had to chase down kittens puppies in the dark that got out.

You call your farm what you want, you call your steer a cow and that is fine too. People getting all bothered by semantics should move on. What you have is amazing and great to watch. I love the fact that you try new things and experience new animals. I also love the gardening side of your vlogs too. Lets face Moody was on his own and now he is not. That is not say that he wasn't loved where he came from but where he is now suits him and suits you. The world can be a pretty mean place and you bring happiness and laughter to a lot of people and that is priceless. Please don't change because of naysayers because i for one look forward to your vlogs and enjoy your podcast.

I totally understand...my late husband and I did everything together, we worked for a living in the same profession and worked at home both doing project as y'all do, people would say how are y'all together so much...we we equally yoked, we enjoyed each other...
We married very young and after ten years had our son.
I miss him so much...he was truly the man of the family and I was his soul mate....we had it made when we were together....

I think cows are wonderful pets! I had them when I was a child and they were like big dogs, so fun! And you get used to them licking you like a giant cat tongue, good exfoliation! 😸🐮🐄

How lovely to hear you like All Creatures Great and Small....It was written by James Herriot, a veterinarian from Yorkshire in the UK and based on his work in the Yorkshire Dales. I don't know whether you can find his books still on Amazon, but they're a delight to read. His TV series still plays on some stations and they never grow stale.

I watched it too and was amazed! I never knew they had those competitions for the PERFECT species of chicken, geese or duck! Thought that was just for dogs.

About the only time I really stress pronunciation and using correct terms is with my nursing students because a wrong pronunciation could mean a different medication and affect the health of a patient/resident/client! Yet, same students can totally lose it if the faculty use different terms that are truly interchangeable.

As par for the course, I was busy today and got to lay here before bedtime, so I could listen to ya'll. Tonight was one of my favorites. Brooke started the show with a heart felt 💓 wonderful, thankfulness to Jason and ended up with Jason crying happy 😊 tears. I love that you are so adorable when ya'll talk about each other. Chad is getting highlands as a herd. His dad bought one too. They now have 3 highlands 2 are bred. They are pretty hearty and can pretty much handle all weather.

James Herriot is the vet and wrote several books and they are awesome!! If Mary Carl likes to read, I think she would love them! I think James Herriot was the new vet that came in and some of the stories will make you laugh until you cry! I will need to check out the series!
