Judging by the erratic and inconsistent behavior I'm thinking it must be some sort of array bounds error accessing memory it shouldn't be, since -1 can never be an array index. I'm guessing the cheat removes all checks for these things that would normally be there, cause I can't imagine anyone leaving that sort of thing unchecked and relying on GUI limitations to prevent it.
Since the game was released as a finished product without further development for vanilla any hacks or saying "just make sure to stay in bounds" might actually be good enough.
I would have guessed it has something to do with the fact that the train, due to having -1 car, has a negative weight which causes infinite speed, and that probably also causes it to not register at the station when it has done it's lap, thus sometimes making it around the lap multiple times, which causes the crazy length - who knows how many times that value overflowed already?
@@khaoliang I think a negative weight would still be consistent in how it performs, since trains normally behave consistently with a given weight. The fact that it's so erratic is what makes me believe it's accessing unamanaged memory which could give practically any value at any time.
Can you not entice a guest to ride it by deleting one track piece, replacing it, then opening it without testing it and waiting for a gullible fool to get on it?
Did it with a flying Boat Ride in my local copy of Half & Half. Possibly due to the extreme Nausea rating, guests never enjoy the ride even though its Intensity rating is okay and they will ride it, just not often.
Did you know that -1 cars per train with a different type of cars will result in the velocity of the trains just converging to 0 km/h instead of the weird behavior shown above?
1. Is it possible to get -2, -3, -4, ... cars per train by any means including hacking? How does that behave? 2. Is it possible to have 0 or a negative number of trains in a ride? How does that behave?
You can install the rct1 maps in openrct2 after you have the rct2 files first. You'll need to get the files of both games, you don't need to install them just have them. That's why you can run openrct2 on Mac and Linux
Without the negative one car trick, you managed to get 327.67 excitement and 327.67 intensity, on the same coaster. You also said an approximate max nausea stat of ~80 and approximate max total stats of 500. With this negative one car trick, you managed to get both the max excitement, max intensity, as well as a nausea stat of 175.76. You also managed a total stat rating of 519.79 points for "Looping Roller Coaster 1". 1. Can you get 327.67 nausea with negative one car per train? 2. Can you get 983.01 total stats with negative one car per train (i.e. 327.67 in all stats)?
I don't think 327.67 excitement and intensity on the same ride is possible as you get massive excitement penalties with that intensity rating. The behaviour of the -1 car per train trick is highly unpredictable so I have no idea what is possible with that.
Judging by that number they must be using a signed short for the stat... which means it must do something functional when negative. I would assume they are preventing the sign bit from ever being set but could be interesting.
Any luck with getting guests to go on these bad boys? I was playing around with it for a few hours after I saw you mention this glitch in your Q&A, but no luck. They'd be in the queue but never enter the ride
Hey man, when it's this buggy, anything goes. If you jack up a coaster train to be 150+ cars long, those guests will do some CRAZY shit to get to their seats. The guests are unstoppable
The average speed is calculated based on the length and ride duration stats, and if those are glitched, the top speed can be a normal value while the average speed is crazy.
32,767 is the largest integer you can store in 16 bits, while including negatives (1 less than 2 to the power of 15). The intensity rating divides it by 100 to display on screen, making it 327.67.
