Good luck forcing one off the road in your lightweight/carbonfiber super car.
11:45 as a game developer, running split-screen has the same performance impact as running VR. Splitscreen means the computer or console has to render the game and game logic twice per frame for you and your friend. VR is the exact same, where your PC to console has to render the game twice per frame, one for your right eye and another for your left eye. Split-screen was easier to handle back in the day when games weren't graphically intense, but as games, today are so incredibly realistic most of the time, most people's computers simply wouldn't be able to render split-screen at ultra settings. You'd have to essentially take your current FPS on a single monitor, and half that. That's roughly what split-screen does.
@OldTires this is not to say that technology isn't keeping up on the hardware side. This is merely just a rule of thumb to measure performance. A lot of time has to go into developing a splitscreen model, which may take time as well. I assume most developers chose not to bother with the interest in developing other areas more. (RTX 2080 and above can probably run split screen in most games if it was an option)
@@OldTires It partly has to do with modern gaming technologies. Most games nowadays can thank their performance, especially on console, to techniques that help lower CPU/GPU demand. Split-screen is even worse than VR for this; at least with VR you are rendering two views in the same general FOV. Split-screen requires the hardware to render any two things that either person looks at. Even worse if a game allows you to separate from one another, as now the CPU might have to double its load. When it comes down to it, you can either maximize what can be offered without split-screen or you can limit the game in order to offer a playable split-screen experience. This is generally why modern split-screen in games is pretty bad; both looks terrible and generally performs poorly. Considering less than 1% of the forza-community plays split-screen, I think the former option is better.
I've ran the GT40 and didn't get this reaction from people. I genuinely love the car. The 488 Pizza and GT40 are 2 of my favorite cars ever made. Never knew there was an unspoken rule of not using the car till now.
i love the random ass VW Bug there that's just off the side, far enough you don't notice him immediately, but just within view enough that when you do notice him, you burst out laughing because you weren't expecting him
With the splitscreen thing. Normally you're only rendering one POV, and the things outside of your POV arent being rendered to help with performance. Thats why forza doesnt let you increase FOV on console. With splitscreen, your console has to render almost twice as much, and because forza is really just a graphics showcase game they'd rather focus on how good the game looks than optimise for a gamemode most peole dont even use nowadays. I dont care either way, I use performance mode every time.
More specifically, they likely couldn't get it working specifically on Series S, like Baldur's Gate III. But because it's a first-party title, they're likely mandated to maintain feature parity on all versions, so rather than just cut it from the Series S version, like Baldur's Gate, it's not on any version...
The graphics being too good for split screen actually makes sense. The game will have to render each frame twice, once for each player, and they're going to be different since each player sees something different. It's not like they can just "copy/paste" one player's scene to another
S Class is notoriously bad in forza. Just a mixture of people who can't control their car and others that want to ram. The lower classes tend to be much better. C Class is best for really close competitive racing in my opinion.
Having never played this game in my life and not knowing if the cars are raced stock or modified here, I can't really judge the situation. But you explained the situation pretty well at the start of the video. Seeing as Boom only seems to target you because of your car choice I think his behaviour might be rectified
@@OldTires tbh as a fh5 player I'm not the fastest one on the track and I just try to have fun with some fun cars. I see meta builds all the time and besides not beeing fast enough to even try to ram them off course I also won't get any value out of it. So in my books that guy is pretty savage for his persistence in upholding "the rule"
@@fireblow44 the difference is, you're comparing a game targeting kids to a game targeting those who actually like proper racing. The FM7 community is super chill, but the unwritten rules are something we follow because absolutely no one likes someone getting a free win just for using a meta car. The FH5 community couldn't care less because half of them can't drive, and the other half sweat online for some reason. There's really only a few players who care about vibing in FH5
It’s pretty simple to understand the split screen thing. Because it’s such an extremely high fidelity game, it’s very difficult to render twice at the same time effectively. You can’t just run the game twice at the same time with no consequence
@@kev2034 You have to render what's in both players views, that is literally up to double depending on each players FOV. You also have to calculate full physics for both players cars at the same time. Option 1: Make the game worse for less than .1% of player base that uses split-screen. Option 2: Make the game as best as possible and sacrifice split-screen.
@@fordgtguy It does typically cost more to develop you're not wrong there and it isn't as popular as it used to be (although I think that largely comes down to it being cut out of games) but I think the fact online play has gotten more popular and stable is kinda what helped developers justify the switch too. You can make more money from players if they have to buy a copy to play with friends, plus the increasing popularity of microtransactions definitely cemented the nixing of the feature and sticking with online only multiplayer. I hope UE5 might help to bring it back though since Nanite could actually help with optimizing for a splitscreen game, but that might just be wishful thinking.
11:40 In splitscreen you gotta render the scene twice which is more taxing even if its the same amount of pixels, that being said its easy to just reduce the graphics a bit
I love how there ramming you for having the gt40 on the Nurburgring. Which is known to be a track that caters to good handling cars not cars with high top speed.
Bro this was one of the funniest videos I've seen! They really didn't like you using that car! You kept your cool I would of been dashing the controller at the TV 😅😅
I actually really like this game. I have both Xbox and PS5 and have also played GT7 but I gotta say there is just something different about trying to avoid all the rammers I actually enjoy it and I find it funny
About the splitscreen part, it's a well known problem nowadays. You just can't keep up this framerate at this resolution on consoles. Yes, you can ship with the game lowest quality textures to be used when splitscreen is on, adding to the game size. You can also reduce by various means, like the FPS themselves, some various things, but in the end people will dislike it. Either it will be too ugly for them, or FPS won't be stable and they will cry about it. Better to dodge the bullet. For the record, Call of Duty had those kind of issues and is notorious for being more ideous in splitscreen then in solo, and it's not only because the render itself is less large, it's also because the overall resolution is greatly reduced.
Forza fans are actually fun to talk to and cruise with, but other than that they will really hate on you during races, even if it’s not just the 40 lol
Damn straight! This kinda shit is why I only play Mario Kart online, have no desire to hear a bunch of kids yelling and verbally abusing everyone or possibly pissing somebody off for accidental contact.
11:31 visual fidelity is high which means a lot of performance goes into rendering what you see onscreen. splitscreen would require double the performance because everything is rendered twice.
while I do think in cases where a car, or character is just op and generally disliked if used, in the case of sim racing and racing games, ramming a car into oblivion is infuriating if youre just trying to race clean, especially in sims, just a scummy thing to do, more so than using an op car or whatever imo

Actually, the only people that seemed to ram you on purpose were the people you hit first. Like, I don't think anybody touched you *because* of the GT40 pick.

Good to know! Thanks for the insight.
This is true
@@costa-w3k We know, that's why we mentioned it, silly pilly

Interesting video. I’ve never known that there was an “unwritten rule” in all my time playing Forza 7.
"I've been rammed in the behind by another man twice now" nice
This is the first video i've seen by this man and this is genuinely more interesting than actual F1 races and their narrating.
Thanks! It's tough to beat Crofty's F1 commentary but I try lol
I've ran the GT40 and didn't get this reaction from people. I genuinely love the car. The 488 Pizza and GT40 are 2 of my favorite cars ever made. Never knew there was an unspoken rule of not using the car till now.
488 pizza lol😂
bro was driving like complete ass and then complaining that he was getting rammed talking about some unwritten rule and getting targeted
The dude didn't even buy you a drink first! 😂
Ikr! What's the deal with that?
Congrats on 2k subs man! I've only recently come in but seeing someone grow this quickly with genuine quality content is amazing
Thanks!! Appreciate it a ton and glad to have you here.
I used to play the GT40 and i never knew why i kept getting rammed, since i never rammed anyone else... now i know why LOL
i love the random ass VW Bug there that's just off the side, far enough you don't notice him immediately, but just within view enough that when you do notice him, you burst out laughing because you weren't expecting him
I was readin this comment 6 seconds before the VW bettle showed up and i choked on water cause it did catch me off guard lol
I noticed that too, I'm watching Boom try to violate this guy then I just see this little beach bug poke out
So many great moments in this video. Was fun to watch from beginning to end
Glad you liked it man!
Good know! Thanks man that makes sense.
More specifically, they likely couldn't get it working specifically on Series S, like Baldur's Gate III. But because it's a first-party title, they're likely mandated to maintain feature parity on all versions, so rather than just cut it from the Series S version, like Baldur's Gate, it's not on any version...
Your videos actually got me back into this game and im enjoying it more than horizon
That's awesome to hear man! I'm sure I'll see you online.
cant wait for the revolutionary Forza 8 to be no different than this 😁
Haha yeah I've still got my fingers crossed it will be good for better or worse
@@OldTires im just happy it's coming to steam.
I have bad news
@@gamechip06uh oh
It was built from the ground up and back down again
The graphics being too good for split screen actually makes sense. The game will have to render each frame twice, once for each player, and they're going to be different since each player sees something different. It's not like they can just "copy/paste" one player's scene to another
As a gran turismo player, it surprises me how I’ve seen more ramming in this video than I’ve seen in my whole life
It's calmed down quite a bit now that the game has been out for so long but it still happens every once in a while 😉
S Class is notoriously bad in forza.
Yeah he's all good. He was just upholding the law 😀

You only have to render what's in view of the players, everything else can be at a lower detail or nixed entirely.
I hope UE5 might help to bring it back though since Nanite could actually help with optimizing for a splitscreen game, but that might just be wishful thinking.
we hate boom random sequence of numbers
14:25 As a GO-KART driver, I almost punched the screen when I heard this
11:40 In splitscreen you gotta render the scene twice which is more taxing even if its the same amount of pixels, that being said its easy to just reduce the graphics a bit
4:35 "couple of guys that were edging.." 👀
I love how there ramming you for having the gt40 on the Nurburgring. Which is known to be a track that caters to good handling cars not cars with high top speed.

11:31 visual fidelity is high which means a lot of performance goes into rendering what you see onscreen. splitscreen would require double the performance because everything is rendered twice.
This is why i play in lobbies with collision off
That's a high IQ decision. I am not that smart...
while I do think in cases where a car, or character is just op and generally disliked if used, in the case of sim racing and racing games, ramming a car into oblivion is infuriating if youre just trying to race clean, especially in sims, just a scummy thing to do, more so than using an op car or whatever imo

Idk what all happened before you started recording, but I can almost guarantee you that Boom only rammed you because you hit him on a straight.
Actually, the only people that seemed to ram you on purpose were the people you hit first.

Agreed and disagreed, boom was very much going for him for more than 1 reason but most other drivers seemed to exact revenge because from what I've seen this guy ain't really that clean of a racer either.

I do somewhat understand this unwritten rule as if your trying to have a fair competetion and one person has a far superior car it isnt really fun. Its to the point where everyone would have to use that car and you wouldnt be able to use other cars you like if you wanna win.
Imagine entering a marathon and some dude brings a bicycle.
Or probably a better analogy you enter a bike race and some guy brings an e-bike
Youd be pissed at them
6:49 - "this was the best overall race of the week - no smashing, no crashing" Proceeds to crash into someone at turn 2, turn 3 and turn 4. Then hits the wall on the exit of 4, gets through turn 5 clean and crashes into someone at turn 6. Turn 7 is uneventful but then goes off the track at turn 8 and almost spins in turn 9 before the camera cuts. Brilliant.
There wasn't a single clean line in this video, even when bro was racing himself. Simcade games let people think they have skill.
People that get mad about this kind of thing are the sweaty try-hards
Depending on what kind of day the guy was having you running into him while on a straightaway could have been enough to make him want to mess with you until you or him quit. Unless you weren’t paying attention to your own game play you did hit the guy on a straight where there isn’t really an excuse for doing so.

Sucks cause I genuinely just love the gt40 as a car not even cause it’s broken so this shit would confuse me sm if some dude did this shit to me😂
It's funny that people get mad over a few pixels on the screen. I mean none of us are professional race car drivers... so what's the point of getting mad over said pixels on the screen
Exactly! I think it's silly.
Hilarious how a 60-70 year old car is the one thats too good. Got to love videogame balancing
I've actually never really given a damn about "unwritten rules" in any game unless it's overly obviously scummy.
I play what I just find to be a lot of fun, simple as.
But yeah, that Boooom guy was really bad at ramming lmao
I remember always using the GT40 in Forza Horizon 4 just because I loved everything about it in that game and especially with the setup I had going.
One of the few cars I made work with a personal tune.
I can’t even lie, seeing someone driving a GT40 in a public lobby getting rammed makes me happy
But really, I almost never have a problem with people’s car choice. But every time I see someone in a GT40, or a car of equal OP status, they drive like a melon. Cutting the track, hitting others, while in the best car. That’s why people get annoyed with people who choose these cars in my experience
It brings a smile to my face too man 😀 I recognize your name from the leaderboards btw wicked fast lap times dude. Happy racing!
If you shouldn't use the car, than it shouldn't be in the game.
I applaud Boooom random number sequence, when game companies dont take action against poor game design/balance, players gotta do it themselves
Forza Motorsport 2 used to have a specific glitch with the GT40 and tuning, tuned in a specific way would make it so 250mph in reverse 😂
The gt40 is the reason boom(random sequence of numbers) is now and forever an ultra turbo virgin.
What I do in the crew 2 is if I'm using a good car and someone isn't. I race my normal race until I get to the end and then I wait for everyone to finish and then I finish after. And I only use meta if someone spams meta first.
