      @@xconvoy8503 yes! It is :) at least I’ve found it to be so. It doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles, which I consider a plus. I don’t like things to be too finicky. The sound is good, the seat and stand are perfectly adequate, the volumes are well set, it has electric keyboard and classical piano settings, you can connect it to Bluetooth but I don’t know how... the only thing I’d say is the headphones it comes with aren’t fantastic, but other than that, yeah I’d say it’s ideal, especially for such a price!

      xConvoy it’s actually got a good amount of bells and whistles. You can connect it to Bluetooth via roland’s piano partner 2 app, and also garage band, and other apps. With rolands piano partner 2 app, you can control the entire piano. You can also control the entire piano with a function key and pressing piano keys which represent different functions. I have this piano and it’s very nice.

    Anyone who is deciding between the Roland FP30, Kawai ES110, Yamaha P125, go with the Roland. I say this for a few reasons:
    1. The ES110 does not have sympathetic string resonance, or sympathetic harmonics. This is very important and it means that when hammers are lifted off certain strings but not playing a sound, they will resonate with strings that are being played, just like a real piano.
    2. Roland's SuperNatural technology uses full individual grand piano samples of all 88 keys (like most digital pianos) as well as a virtual sound engine to physically model and simulate a grand piano and all of it's nuances. You won't find sound engines until you go up another level on other brands.
    3. Velocity Curve - Whilst the Kawai ES110 has different levels of velocity, they have parameters, and mathematically look more like steps. The Roland has a smooth velocity curve that is more sensitive to touch. You can really hear this in the first part of this video when Erskine is playing the lower notes very softly.
    4. The FP30 action is quite realistic and comparable to grand piano action - yes this is subjective but when comparing to the ES110 it is much more solid and the ES110 is too light and flimsy.
    5. Build quality - FP30 is a solid machine. Yamaha build comes in 2nd,. Kawai, in this price range, is not good. Everything is loose and not put together very well.
    Of course there are pros and cons. I simply want a piano that sounds realistic, feels realistic, and will last me a long time. I have been contemplating on which piano to buy for a couple of months now and I have reached this decision. I hope this helps anyone who is trying to decide on a piano in this price range.
    Thanks for the review Sweetwater and Erskine.

    I bought this keyboard had it for about 1 year:
    - Very very happy with the Roland FP30, the keys always felt much higher quality and the action feels much better than any other keyboard in this price range. Other keyboards in this range felt plastic compared with the Roland FP30.
    The only negatives I have are:
    - Some may not like the heavier feeling keys (you get used to it)
    - Repetitive notes. You can get repetitive notes up to a reasonable speed but you cannot get them very fast (other keyboards maybe better for this)

    • @8-biternie944
      @8-biternie944 5 лет назад

      The heavy keys are a deal-breaker, semi weighted or non weighted keyboard will give you much better action, faster trills, arpeggios and runs with no fatigue

    • @bydesign3169
      @bydesign3169 5 лет назад +4

      @@8-biternie944 The only problem I have with this keyboard is repetitive keys. Hiting the same key very fast i have no doubt you could beat that speed on other keyboards. I have no problem with Trills and arpeggios I dont think they would necessarily be faster on other keyboards..
      You have to try this keyboard to feel the keys are far superior to others in the price range, these keys feel ivory, others feel plastic.
      Because the keys are full weighted and its built really well its gives you a much better feeling/feedback for the range of velocity that you can play with.
      The heavier keys do have the advantage that it makes my fingers stronger, and if I ever play on a real piano it feels a lot easier than it use to when I would practice on plastic non weighted keyboards.
      I think full weighted keys are better all round in the long run.

      @@bydesign3169 as a piano player of 30 years I respectfully disagree, any musician worth his salt can play comfortable on ANY keyboard, as far as key feel goes, it's all psychological, nothing is going to sound and feel like a real piano except a real piano, try as these companies may, no one will ever be able to replicate the sound, feel and nuances that an acoustic piano gives off, it makes no difference to me whether the keys are plastic or synthetic Ivory, I will just as willingly and flawlessly play on a Casio CT 700 just as eagrly as I would play on a Yamaha Montage, weighted and unweighted keys make no difference to me, because I've been playing music for so long that none of it really matters anymore, when I was a beginner, it definitely mattered, not so much now, let me give you an example, my next door neighbor has a Roland HP 605, the action on that doesn't even come close to my story & Clark console but I can still get on both of them and jam out all day without even thinking about how the action or the keys feel, when a musician gets to a certain skill set, all of that stuff goes out the window because a good musician once again knows how to improvise and do a good job on any instrument, but non or semi weighed keys reduce fatigue

      @matouille9179 5 лет назад +4

      @@8-biternie944 So, basically... You are a great piano player who played for more than 30 years... But the question is that... Does it make any difference if you play a piece either on Grand piano or on any other piano??? Doesn't the sound quality of the instrument would deplete if you buy a cheaper and more cheaper piano?? Yeah!! I agree with you about the less necessity of ivory keys but if you are getting a digital piano in a quite reasonable price with a feel of a piano wouldn't be better?? I am not asking this carcastically but trying to know the answer...😊😊
      I am very well aware of the fact that playing fast and hard pieces on a grand piano brings fatigueness... But wouldn't it be great to practice on piano having weighted keys so that you are actually be prepared to play on a real piano??

      @@matouille9179 pianos are becoming antiquated though, that's why pianos aren't being made as fast as they used to or as often as they used to, they're not as practical as they used to be, digital technology is fast progressing, synth style and semi weighed keys are a God send to someone with blisters all over their fingers due to keyboards that (usually incorrectly) mimic real piano keys, no one in the audience is going to be able to tell you're using non or semi weighted keys anyway( especially if it sounds good) so a semi weighted or non-weighted keyboard would be just as good and it will be easier on your hands than a real piano or weighed digital, there's technology in keyboards now that allow us to not have to press it hard or abuse our fingers as much, Roland, Kurzweil, Korg, Yamaha, M Audio and Alesis all make excellent sounding keyboards with semi weighted keys, semi and non weightd Keys give you better control with less fatigue, why would you spend the extra money on a weighted keys that will Tire your hands out when you try to do your fancy runs or licks or arpeggios, this fp-30 keyboard SOUNDS magnificent, but it feels like hell, a Roland Juno ds61 or ds76 sounds just as good or better than this fp-30 and the action on it is 10 times better, and it's spelled *sarcastic*

    Hi,
    I chose the FP-30 over the P-125 because of the Bluetooth. Now I feel disappointed, the Bluetooth connection is a trick, it does not allow you to play music through the piano, nor through the USB connection. Many learning books come with accompaniment but you can’t play it on the piano. No Bluetooth or USB Audio Interface, the Bluetooth and USB connections are only MIDI.
    Also, if you give yourself the work of converting all your accompaniment music to wav files and store them in a USB memory, then it is too difficult to search and find the one you want to play each time, and the Piano Partner 2 app does not help on this task either.

    I bought the fp30 5 months ago after comparing the keybed to the kawai es110 and some yamahas because it had the most weighted keys. Heavier than my upright piano but the other digital pianos were far more lighter than my piano so the fp30 seemed to me the closest to a piano. What a surprise today... at the same store with the same model i put my fingers on the fp30 and the keys were way lighter than mine! A close friend used to play my fp30 was at the store and i havnt said anything to him except to play something and at the first stroke to a key he noticed the change too. Im now looking for an answer. Maybe roland has changed the weight of the keys because people were complaining about the fp30 being too hard to press i remember. But i want to contrast if people with older fp30 feel the keys as heavy as me. The yamaha (p45 or the newer one maybe) today had heavier keys than the fp30 at the store. But my fp is heavier than the yamaha. The new fp30 was easier to play but I prefer the feel of mine... but im very surprised and looking for an explanation. Two items of the same model cant be so different if it isnt a design thing... could someone who has tried kawai roland and yamaha answer which one has the heavier keys?

    I’ve had this for just over a year and here is my review....
    The good points are, it’s a great keybed, it’s fairly light to carry.
    The bad points are, the G. Piano sounds are, to my ears, slightly out of tune, so in isolation, played as solo piano, it sounds realistic as most pianos are not completely in tune, BUT it doesn’t record well when sitting with other instruments, as it sounds slightly and irritatingly out.
    Also you can not hold a note around the middle of the keyboard for longer than two seconds without it going into that fizzy sampled sound I hate.
    The electric pianos are pants
    Trying to change settings are almost impossible in a dark or even semi dark room, very hit or miss
    It’s very difficult to set up balanced splits, ie, piano and strings, also you can only have two sounds for a split, so no piano/pad with bass
    The volume control is not graduated properly so it jumps in high increments
    If you want to record with this keyboard in the studio the sound is awful, you have to use the headphones socket which has a high degree of hiss and some distortion, so effectively this rules it out for recording, believe me I’ve tried!
    I’m selling mine this week

A 1/4" stereo to dual mono 1/4" cable, for example, would work. If you have further questions, please give us a call!

      ThePianoMan80 I bought the fp30 5 months ago after comparing the keybed to the kawai es110 and some yamahas because it had the most weighted keys.

      Hi there. That is a great question! Once you have adjusted the keyboard to the brilliance and ambiance level that you desire, you are able to save those settings to the piano's memory backup. You would just hold down the [FUNCTION] button and press the record button until the play/stop button along with the record button blink. To save the settings, press the record button. When all the LED's on the buttons are lit, your settings will be saved. Let us know if you have any other questions!

      Hi there. That is a great question! The Roland FP-30 would be a really nice upgrade from the already great Alesis 88. I personally love the SuperNATURAL sound engine that Roland has for the keyboards, so you will not only have a realistic piano sound, but a realistic piano feel and expression as well with the keys. If you ever look to record, this keyboard will allow you to do MIDI over USB, or you can play along to your favorite tracks via thumb drive too. Let us know if you have any questions!

Far more informative videos exist all over RUclips where they more properly demo the instruments and give more useful information.
