"With its stunningly redesigned spaceship, smartly and subtly enhanced story, and spectacularly reimagined action scenes, Motive Studio has managed to successfully breathe new life into the seminal sci-fi horror universe of Dead Space. Despite the fact I’ve returned to the 2008 original several times over the years and found it to hold up fairly well, my latest journey through the darkened hallways of the USG Ishimura still managed to consistently surprise me and pull me into Isaac’s plight far more than ever before, while still satisfying my desire to butcher undead astronauts with an enjoyable arsenal of wildly unsafe mining tools. It’s clear that this superb Dead Space remake has been a labour of love for the team at Motive Studios, who’ve very carefully balanced innovation and renovation with preservation, and to their credit the end result is undoubtedly the definitive way to experience - or re-experience - one of the best survival horror shooters that Capcom never made."

Anyone wondering if Dead Space needs a remake. It doesn’t need one, it deserves one! This is an opportunity for the franchise to be alive and make us whole again.

Should be noted too that Isaac's heartbeat also goes up when he looks closely at a murdered body for the first time, just as anyone would. Little detail they didn't need to put in but they did

I'm envious of those who never played the original and will get to experience it for the first time with the remake. Truly one of the best horror games ever made.

This, RE2R and Demons Souls are probably the highest quality remakes I’ve seen. These devs need more work!

Mine too. Look at the design, animations and sounds of the necromorphs though.
They all seem like a massive downgrade to the original...
And Isaac's animations are also pretty horrible if you ask me.
Dead Space 2 is in my list of fav games of all time. Back then, it impressed me in a way that's impossible to describe.

Build from the ground up, faithful to the original with no cut content like RE3 (remake), enhanced and expanded, just like the remake of the first Resident Evil.

The Dead Space Remake is an absolute home run! The second and third instalment also deserve the same treatment, here’s hoping 🤞🏻
The 3rd ? no way that game ruined the franchise.
They’d have to completely take the third game back to the drawing board if they want to remake it. They’d be better off just making a brand new game with DS3’s story than remaking DS3.
DS3 was absolutely awful, and most people agree with that.
This should be used as an example for future remake of any game, what a high quality this is!

Mainly because the game came out more than month and a half ago. Did you play it? It's much better than journalists say.

If anything, Motive Studio are the ones that should receive the majority of praise. They developed the game, EA just published it.

@@venomfuryx3250 they never said singleplayer was dead, their entire point was that linear games at the time were not so popular as a open world game which was true. Somehow that point was twisted into the “sp are dead”

This is the result of a team who actually looks back at the original source and improves on it and adds more details and elements but still sticks to the original

Just played this, absolutely brilliant the graphics and sound are on point and the slight changes to the exploration are very welcome as is the more vocal Issac. Loved it

@@ededdandeddytv5164 yeah. Marvel signed an overall deal with EA, similar to Square Enix to develop multiple superhero action adventure projects with EA exclusive studios, including Respawn, Motive, BioWare, Bullfrog, Visceral and more. Should be fun.
Glenn Scofield's The Calisto Protocol ending up being garbage and his Dead space game being remade by none other than EA and coming out as a near masterpiece brings a whole new meaning to "how the mighty have fallen"

Thats because it's not a new game. It's easier for them to go back to a finished product and work on that than make a new game and who blames them people are satisfied with getting remakes for 2 and 3 rather than seeing a whole new dead space game.

Hell yeah, so excited to see where this franchise can go, hopefully John Carpenter wasn't mistaken and there really is a TV show or movie in the works. If it can be inspired by the last of us show in that is stays faithful it would be a horror masterpiece and instant classic.

Is anyone having a weird issue where after cinematics like when you grab the plasma cutter or assault rifle the fps just drop to the ground to like 24 and you have to load the save to fix it?

Getting rid of the gunner seat sequence was one of the best things they did
That's where my current playthrough is currently stalled at... Wish those numerous health packs could do something as opposed to burning a hole in my holo-inventory...
Those two sequences were my only complaint about the original. Now they've easily become two of the best parts.
What Callisto Protocol could of been
Callisto is its own thing. It was never meant to be Dead Space 4.

Currently playing it. Honestly, it is a great game! Loving the force gun upgrade. Once used, it strips the necro boys down to their skeletal frames!

What was wrong with the last of us remake?
The graphics upgrade and the tighter gameplay were enough for me. I've beaten it 4 times already. Sales will kick in with the new TV show. Trolls will go on whining.

Played the originals to death and still have them on disc. Already pre ordered this and can't wait. Was left disappointed by callisto protocol.
Just pre-order today can't wait to play it once again with even better graphics.
If this does well and we get the next two, hopefully Dead Space 3 can be rewritten to be much better

Great review man, but please go easier on the alliterations next time. It gets kind of annoying after the third or fourth one in just a few minutes. They're a great device, just best used sparingly.

They kept the original voice actor for Isaac, that's perfect.
Now they have to remake dead space 2 and 3! Those are just as amazing and totally deserve a remake

Im so HAPPY they added the ALL GENDER BATHROOM also there are violence warnings for sensitive content which is just beautiful and really considerate despite the game being already rated M, like... this is just craaazy man!
